This group is doing lots of traveling for middle of the winter.

We are all home with head colds and I want to go out and get my new kitchen rack and get organized. Of course, I took the day off from work, so I am energized.

I have planned out two weeks of menus and food for myself and family and hopeful that it gets me through the TOM with better losing results. Usually I just hang around the same number of the scale. And if I could breath I could get onto the ski machine, but right now I feel like an accident waiting to happen.

Have a great weekend,

Dena, hope the connections get sorted out, fustrating.

2BFIT1 02-24-2001 09:22 PM

Happy Saturday Everybody~~

Liza~~~I hope your cold and sore throat will be gone real soon ;)

Dena~~~I wondered where you went. I hope you get your board problems corrected asap.
I'm sure the weight I lost last week will not stay there. In the past when I lose that much at once it hasn't stayed consistant. I'm just thrilled that I broke thru the plateau I was stuck in for so long :D

The next 3-4 weeks are going to get busy for me so i hope that will help me to either burn more calories or take in less.
I return to work next weekend and I have 2 landscape plans due in 4 weeks and of course there is gardening I want to do.

Well everybody have a wonderful weekend !!

hi guys -
I just thought I would drop in and say hello. I am taking off for DC again for a week. This trip should be better than the last because I have a better flight (boeing 777) and a better hotel. I am traveling with a co-worker who is also trying to lose weight so no going over the top at the fancy restaurants. So with any luck I will be back here to read the posts on Friday. Have a great week you guys.
Pat

shashe 02-25-2001 06:58 PM

Good Morning everyone,

Been real busy. It seems that I am the substitute for everyone lately. I subbed three days last week at my daughters school and twice for people at work. I was supposed to sub for someone last night at work but I got someone to sub for me. Brielle my little one was up all Friday night throwing up and I've been fighting a cold and sore throat so enough is enough. Brielle is much better. Must have been a 24 hour bug or something she ate. And I have recovered. I went to bed early like the kids last night.

LIZA-Hope you are feeling better. Isn't it hard to slow down and take care of yourself when you are sick? It is for me.

SIL: Congrats on your 3# loss. That's awesome. I'm crossing my fingers that it stays off for you.

DENA- Whatever happened with your foot. I wasn't around for awhile. Is everything ok?

PAT- Have a good trip if I haven't missed you already. That's great that your traveling partner is also watching what they eat. That would help me here if my family would do the same thing!

Well it's rainy and dreary here. Having a birthday dinner for my 83yr. old Mom today. It should be ok food wise since I don't usually eat much when I cook. I'll send the cake home with them.

I've mostly been working on my water. Have seen an improvement with the scale. I actually saw 226 one day. That's my first 20# goal. But I usually go up and down daily 1 to 3 pounds. So atleast I never see 230 anymore.

Have put off walking until I feel better. Hopefully that will be this week some time.

Have a Good Day All. It's nice to be back.

Take Care,
Sharon

Good Morning Everybody ;)

It's warm and wet here in Georgia. Can't be outside in the garden so I guess I better do my homework that is due tomorrow :eek:

Pat~~~ I hope you have a wonderful time in NY. We'll miss ya while you're gone.

Sharon~~~Congratulations on losing your first 20 lbs!!! Way to go. Say goodbye to the 30's, hello 20's and here I come teens. You did so well on the last 20#'s the next 20 will here sooner than you realize. :D
Check your PM's.

Yesterday my DH brought me home a hamburger for lunch (double Whopper). I hadn't eaten breakfast and I haven't had a burger in like forever~so I ate it. Kept points very low at dinner. Then checked out the points of the burger online. 23 points :eek: That's my alotment for the whole day. I was so bummed out for the rest of the evening.

I knew for sure that this morning my scale would say "Oh my God woman, what did you do to yourself?" Thankfully, it stayed the same :) Can't do that again. I will always have a better idea of the point value before it goes in my mouth;D

For those that are in the challenge~~don't forget to update ;)

Good morning all! :) Hope everyone is doing well.

We had a bad ice, sleet, snow, rain storm on Sat. A little of everything. Good thing we had done our getting around on Fri. It was so nasty. We got up to 52 degrees during the night Sat. and then it got cold again yesterday. Went out to church, then stayed in for the rest of the day. Was afraid we would "blow" away.

Gotta get back to the t/mill. Took 2 days off, and shouldn't have done that. I tend to eat more if I don't exercise. I like to go down at 9:00 A.M. and can watch the last of the Today show while I'm walking. Makes the time go faster. Still don't like it. :(

Sil....hope you thoroughly enjoyed your "double Whopper" Those things are soooo good, like you, haven't had one in an age. I guess once in a while (a long while) it won't hurt.

shashe....hope everyone is fully recovered at your house. I hate being sick, but always hated it worse when my kids got sick.

Pat.....it's hard traveling, going to restaurants etc. and trying to lose weight. Good luck, at least you have a companion who is trying too. :)

Liza....hope you and your family are all on the mend too. Two weeks worth of menus!!! that's an accomplishment. Good for you, I go from day to day. Have stuff in my freezer, but then again there are only the two of us, and DH will eat anything I put on the table, so I'm lucky in that respect.

Ladies, I just got my first copy of Reiman publications, "Light and Tasty" I also get "Quick Cooking" and "Taste of Home" and love them too, but this one looks very promising. The nutritional information is on EVERY recipe, makes it easy to figure points. The recipes looked great. It's worth the money to me. I have every copy of each of the magazines I've gotten over the years, keep going back to them.

Almost breakfast time, so........have a good day everyone. :)

Dena 02-26-2001 10:57 PM

Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, I just hopped on the scale and nothing. I stayed the same. What gives with that?

I know I was out of town, but I did try hard. I even brought fruits, veggies, luna bars and water to make sure we didn't have to go out to eat at restaurants all the time. We even walked in the malls for exercise. Sheesh. Okay, okay I'll stop whining.LOL I'll just have to get busy this week and shake things up a bit.

Sil, so glad to hear that you are feeling better and better. And now you are out there in the garden and also doing landscaping projects. I'm sooo impressed that you recovered so quickly. Faaaaaantastic!! Oh, and forget about the whopper. We all need a break once-in-a-while. I think it's great that you didn't gain any of those fabulous 3 lbs. back!

Liza, hope you and your family are feeling a lot better. Smart idea about making menu ideas... planning ahead for two weeks yet!

Pat, have fun in DC! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

Sharon, the strangest thing about my foot... Well, I went to my HMO and saw 2 stupid people. A Nurse Practicioner looked at my hurt foot and sent me to an Internal Medicine guy, who was afraid to even touch my foot... let alone take any X-rays or anything. He signed me up to see a foot doctor, which is who I wanted to see in the first place. My appointment is on March 12th! Hello!! In the meantime I babied my foot, stayed off of it for a few weeks, played around with different kinds of shoes and somehow I healed it, because it doesn't hurt anymore. Do I still see the foot doc in March or will that bring me more stress?LOL

Ellie, your cooking publications sound great. Can you buy these in a bookstore?

Well, I better get some work done around here. I've got tons of laundry, a billion chores to do and have to stand in line at the post office. Sounds like a fun day. Not!

Hope everyone has an OP day!
(Hugs),
Dena

MsLiz1956 02-27-2001 02:55 AM

Howdy, Gals!

Just thought I'd check in...still mostly OP, having missed that goal only once this week. Weighed in today instead of Wednesday (not sure why - maybe excited?!) and am happy to report...-1.5! Now down to 121! That despite a bad day Saturday (the only day I was off-program). Was working at stepdaughter's house (remodeling) and had to choose between eating junk & not eating at all. Decided that not eating was just plain foolish, considering the work I was doing. Looks like it was the better choice, as I still lost!

Hope everyone's weekend was wonderful. Have a "loser" of a week, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I know that I've been AWOL for a while (again!) but things here have been terribly hectic, between school, work, visiting a friend in the hospital, and feeling a little under the weather, I've been terribly busy.

I'm sad to report that I went on vacation last weekend and ate like crazy. So I let myself spend the rest of that week off program, hoping that maybe I just wasn't eating enough and that's why I felt miserable. It wasn't. So now I'm four pounds heavier and still sick. Yuck.

I've not had time to catch up, so I can't quite post individually yet. I wanted to say hello though, and I'm going to be back now, hopefully!

Kendra

2BFIT1 02-27-2001 07:07 AM

Welcome back Kendra. I just sent you a PM.
Hope to see ya more often and I'm glad you joined the Challenge with us. We only have a few weeks until St. Pat's so let's all stay OP until then.

Liz~~~Congratulations on losing 1.5 pounds !!
I'm with you, let's all have a loser of a week. :D

Ellie~~~I also got the first issue of Light and Tastey. The recipies look good but I haven't figured out the points yet. I also love Cooking Light. It also lists the nutritional info w/each recipe. Maybe this week I'll try a new recipe.

Dena~~~ So glad that your foot is feeling better. :)

Today is my B-Day (47 :eek: ) and I'm going out to lunch with a friend. I will do my best to chose wisely and try to stay OP.
~~~Sil
Happy B'Day, Sil!! Celebrating your success, I hope!
I feel great - in 2 weeks, I've been over my points only once! And I'm also not adding my extra points from workouts; I eat a bit more on those days but still stay within points.
DENA - we're revealing our age, aren't we? Do you REALLY think you have to explain that it was a Beatle's song?! ;) :p
Good Morning Everybody :)
It appears that Spring has arrived here in Georgia. The Bradford Pear trees, forsynthia,crocus and daffodils are blooming all over and boy did my allergies kick in all of a sudden (I forgot to start taking my Claritin). That will teach me!
I did great on my b-day lunch out w/ my friend. I had salad topped with grilled salmon, ff dressing on the side. The waitress brought me a b-day dessert but we shared it and I only took 2 small bites of it. :D
Yesterday I did some stress eating :(. Between going back to work this weekend, school projects due and PMS I was feeling alittle overwhelmed. I started snacking on some Chex Mix while studing and the next thing I knew, I had eaten more than planned.
So, what I need to do today is ride that exercise bike and work in the yard in between doing my homework. (keep the hands busy).
Well I promised DH a roast and veggies tonight so I better go put it in the slow roaster. I'll check in later so see what everybody is doing. Have a great OP day :D
Sil, keep in mind that I'd had that four pound gain last week. I lost that plus another pound just by going back on program and not making the bad choices I had been making. Thanks to you and Carla for your congratulations.
To answer your question, yes, I'm going to do the SELF Challenge. I think it will be good for me, plus it will be a lot of fun. I love the chance to win prizes. :)
Hope you all have a great day!
shashe 03-03-2001 01:46 AM
Hi Everyone,
Sil hope you're feeling better today. Spring is definitely not in New Jersey. It's been snowing lightly since last night and we have a chance to get a foot of snow Sunday night. OK enough is enough I want to see some green and I don't mean money not that I would refuse any someone gave me~lol! Sorry for missing your birthday. Hope you have a great year. I'm a fellow Pisces. My birthday is today. We're going out tomorrow to a favorite Restaurant and a movie. Anyone have any good picks for the movies? Something light or atleast not tragically depressing.
Kendra Great job on the 5#s and it's nice to have you back with us. I hope to register on the Self Challenge right after I post here. It sounds like fun and I can use some motivation.
Each day I see myself making healthier choices. Last night I drove into the city to see Phantom of the Opera. My sister had tickets and couldn't go because her daughter was sick. The play was fantastic! Anyway on the way my friend went to the drive-thru at KFC and I didn't get anything simply because I wasn't hungry. In the past I wouldn't have even asked myself if I was hungry. In the past Drive-Thru=Eat!
SHARON....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Best wishes.
Saw Phantom...was fantastic...the music was enchanting...was in my glory when I saw it my mother had given me tickets for my birthday a couple of years ago, and I hear the music and wish I could go again. Wasn't it just wonderful.
Have a great day!
Carla :)
Hi Guys - Back from DC....I am a little down because the trip home had a lot of turbulence. So I headed for bed once I got in. A little nap and I felt a lot better. I have to tell you guys my husband is a jewel. After I arrived at the hotel on Monday they delivered a lovely fruit plate. I found out later he called them and had them deliver it. Grapes, peaches, apples and pears, oh my! I was set.
My co-worker and I got some site-seeing in (aka a lot of walking...so much I got a blister on one of my toes). But it was worth it to see the mall and the memorials again. I brought my camera this time so I will have evidence I was there.
Ellie - I also get the Light and Tasty magazine. For years I got the Taste of Home but after I went of WW I figured out I couldn't convert the recipes, so I stopped my subscription. I was very happy to see they came out with a new magazine with the nutritional info. I got a subscription right away.
Well I really didn't want to get wordy...I just wanted to drop in and say hello and I am back. I got my Life Strategies books today and I can't wait to read them.
Pat
Blizzard
Sharon, congrats on the drive thru at KFC. I know what you mean. I also have really slowed down with my eating and am thinking if I am hungry when faced with an unplanned food.
Here we are facing an unplanned event, on the east coast we are preparing to be hit with a two day storm.
Fortunately, I did all my shopping last Sunday and had only a few vegetables to get. I had also bought powdered milk to add as a calcium supplement, so I did not feel the pressure to run out and get more milk like I usually do for a storm. My mom called to say she was considering going out for vegetables and I told her what a mess the stores were, I have enough in my freezer for a while. It is looking bad and they have cancelled most schools already.
I am going to try to get to the office, but do not know how long I am going to stay. We are taping some of the TV stuff to make a tape for the daughter, DH will splice in some of his real stuff, we did this the last storm and it is fun.
Now onto this new site, so far great improvements as always 3FC. I am looking forward to all the new gadgets.
Had a great on program weekend. Took today off from exercising, as I had a 5 for 7 day week so far, exceeded my goal.
Also, kept control at my MIL, and stayed on program today with take out Chinese food. Glad to say the new local place is not that great and so is not a temptation.
Pat, DH sounds wonderful and very supportive, it does make a difference. I am using the Cooking Light magazine at this time with my WW magazine for menu planning, both are good, but I am going to look for the Light and Tasty, because heaven forbid I would miss a new recipe and have to cook something twice.
Talk more tomorrow,
Liza 195/190/140
Happy Monday Morning All:D
I missed being able to visit here over the weekend. I hope that you all had a nice one.
To everybody up North~~~Stay warm and safe!
Liza~~~ Good for you for getting in all that exercise. It sounds like you are really making some wonderful life changes and sticking with it. Keep up the great job.:)
Kendra~~~ I've decided to try the SELF challenge, starting today. I'm just not sure if I will keep my log on-line or on my form. What are you doing? I want that t-shirt!
Pat~~~ Welcome back home. So glad that you had a great time and your DH is so thoughtful.
Sharon~~~ Don't you just feel great about yourself when you make good choices.:D
I'm looking forward to checking out the new site changes. Since I couldn't post over the weekend, I'm now going to update the St.Pat's challenge thread. See ya all later~~~Sil
Cabin Fever & Eating
Good Morning All,
I really missed the site over the weekend and the scale shows it. I'm going to try harder today and not get on the scale until next Sat for the St. Pats Challenge.
My neck and back were bad yesterday and when I'm in pain I eat. That makes sense doesn't it,not! Then I can be in more pain! I need to stop and count to 20, stay out of the kitchen or go online. I did get in a 2.5mile walk and some extra work on my calf muscles since I was holding them tight trying not to fall on the snowy hilly streets.
My back is a little better today. I'm hoping to get to the chiro this morning before the snow gets too bad.
CARLA_Thanks for the BD wishes. I loved Phantom would go back in a heartbeat.
LIZA-Is the light and Tasty a WW publication? We're facing the same weather. Was in yesterday but did get out for my walk. Good for you on 5 days of exercise.
PAT- Glad yor trip went well and your husband sounds very thoughtful. Made me think how lucky I am to have my DH. I've been working on the Dr. Phil book. I think today I'm going to write down and work on the 10 habits I do automatically that sabotage my diet. Let me know how you like the book.
Will probably be back later when cabin fever sets in. Hope to go for my walk early today.
Have a Healthy Day.
CGBuzz 03-05-2001 07:36 AM
GOODMORNING EVERYONE.............
Sitting here freezing...heat is cranked up, coffee by my side, up early..wasn't sure about schools, made the lunch and breakfast for daughter..she ate and went back to bed lol..so decided to have coffee and check thread missed not reading over weekend. Up north the weather is so terrible, all schools are closed. Kids are happy and parents I'm sure aren't pleased lol except not to have to go out in this weather, I know my daughter in law was delighted, called her and at the early hour of 7:00am she sounded thrilled lol.
So far weather is sort of in limbo, but the rest will be coming later and tomorrow..it's icy and very cold. Glad I have tons of food, went shopping over the weekend, both days, and set for the storm..might spend the day cooking and just enjoy. Darn I missed getting my sweet potatoes and apples lol, other then that I'm ready to weather the storm, from inside lol.
Well didn't do official weigh in yet, but hoping I see some results..since my scale is old I only count in 1/2 and 1 lb losses/gains. Thank goodness my gains have been nile really, once I think. So will post later today or tomorrow I double check myself on Monday and Tuesday.
Over the weekend, just took it easy, so nothing new happening on my end of the world.
Hope that all of you are well, and that if you have to go out in bad weather that you make sure you're careful.
And those of you basking in the warmth of the sun...save some for us!!!
Talk to you all soon.
Carla :)
Sorry if you're in the East
Hi gang! had to quickly stop here and say HI. I missed reading posts all weekend, but glad to be back.
To all of you in the N.E. I feel sorry for you, know just what you are going through. These storms are the pits! Hope all of you stay warm and safe.
Had a good weekend inspite of not being able to come here. Didn't realize how addicted I am. LOL :D I have stayed OP now for 5 days running, a record for me, and have been on me T/Mill each day too. :).
Can't stay any longer, my ISP was down for a while this A.M. and that has set me back time wise. Have a good day everyone, stay OP, stay warm!!!!
P.S. got my newest issue of Light and Tasty over the weekend, WOW! such good sounding recipes. I am sure glad I subscribed to this one. I love it that they give the nutritional information with each recipe.
snowy snowy snowy
Well, my office is closed today. And since no one in charge decided to indicated that on the call in line, specially set up for storm information, I went off to work. Got there at 8:00 and found out 15 minutes later that the place was closed. They called my house 15 minutes after I left for work. Useful.
Anyway, I am trying not to get too bored and eat my way through this storm, or worried about DH who went into work.
The two year old and I are here at home keeping warm.
I did work out this morning and hope to do my new Yoga tape. It is the Living Arts, Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss with Susanne Deason. I bought it and it got lost in the piles here and I just unearthed it again. This may be a perfect opportunity. Maybe the 2 year old will join in.
Carla, big congrats on the 2 pounds, way to go.
