Is this for people following WW on their own?

I have been a member twice. The last time was right after PointsPlus came out. So I have all of the PointsPlus info... food guide, dining out, calculator, getting started guide,Pocket guide, a tracker, and a few of the weekly handouts.

I also downloaded some apps on my phone for tracking and calculating.
Is this what is meant by "At Home"?
Me and my hubby are going to start using all of this to follow on our own. I would like to join eventually when we can afford it because I would LOVE to make it to lifetime... and maybe even work part time with the company. Just can't afford the membership right now.

I have about 60-70 pounds to lose and DH has about 40. He has no desire to join the meetings or even online.. just wants to use points as a way to limit food.

nancylmrn 09-10-2012 12:18 PM

Yes this thread is geared towards those who do not attend meeting or use the online tools but anyone can jump in.

I have been following ww off and on for several years and this last round I have been doing it on my own and with the support here it seems to be working. Feel free to check out the other ww threads too there are some awesome chickies out here

Koshka 09-10-2012 01:33 PM

I think there are 2 groups of people here. Some doing the formal At Home program. Those people are online members of WW only. They get materials from WW, can track online, but aren't eligible for lifetime membership benefits.

The other group of people are those who are informally following the program without being either meeting or online members.

Are you using a paper tracker or some kind of online website to track?:)

CArosie 02-04-2013 04:26 PM

I am new today.Fen 4th 2013. I am doing the old weight watchers points. I have the books.

I tried the plus points. Not liking that. I dont want to be having a whole lot of extra food or take off for my exercising to eat more. I am doing 25 minutes walking inside or out. I am in Canada so the temeratures are like Minus outside.
So have I come to the right place in here to not do wwatchers plus. I am doing 5 times a week activity. I am in my 70's not a problem that way.

NBviolet 02-05-2013 07:12 AM

Hi,rose, good to see you here! I am new also and still looking around the site. Keep up the good work!!

memoree 03-08-2013 09:50 AM

I am doing WW at home as well. I have done WW previously online and decided it was just too expensive for what I used it for. (only tracking)
I found this app and I think it's awesome!
it's called wwdiary if anyone else is interested.
I was told by my doctor recently to do WW because it is the best diet to follow for life. Since I did not want to sign up online again, I did a search and found this app. It is for androids but there may be one for iphone as well,. I didn't check

Snowtopper 03-10-2013 11:32 AM

Memoree: I don't think this thread is very active. It's nice to see someone posting. I would love to have more people for support. I too use a application for my points. It's called.. Ultimate Food Value Diary Plus - 2013 Edition - Scanner , Database & Weight Tracker... I use it on my Kindle but I think you can do other devices. It's been my lifesaver.

memoree 03-10-2013 11:44 AM

Thanks Snowtopper. I will check out your app! I had tried unsuccessfully several times at calorie counting/ww online but never could lose more than 5 pounds. I am a diabetic. I went to a new doctor and she told me the meds I was taking MAKE you gain weight! So she took me off of those and put me on Metforim and told me I needed to do weight watchers for life! She said it was the easiest diet plan to follow and was good for diabetics. So here I am. I guess I will scroll down further and find the more active threads :)

memoree 03-10-2013 08:22 PM

Snowtopper: I downloaded the app you recommended and love it! Thank you so much!!

amandie 03-10-2013 09:20 PM

Memoree- You like the Ultimate Food Value Diary Plus better than WWDiary?

Snowtopper 03-11-2013 07:21 PM

memoree: Glad you like it. It has really saved me. I love the scanner.

Xena2013 04-17-2013 08:08 PM

Hey there I just started doing WW on my own as well. I have the 360 Kit and the App Ultimate Value Diary. I have been a member twice but the meetings just stress me out and never helped me.

I did SBD before and felt that I miss eating all foods. I just want to be more flexible and not worry what I am allowed to eat and what not.

yes I like Ultimate much better!

MrsKnox 07-10-2013 06:12 PM

My hubs and I were looking into NS, but decided against it due to reviews of the food being gross. So we decided instead to do SmartOnes - one each for breakfast, lunch & dinner, and bought 2 weeks worth of food & desserts & snacks at a time. On day 5 today, and feeling great! Also, our grocery store delivers, so it's really nice - it's almost like NS, but all frozen foods (and WW string cheese and WW cookies.) Plus, it's much less expensive for two peeps. Wish us luck!

Oooo interesting plan! I wonder if I could get my hubby on board with something like this. Especially as I loathe cooking anyhow! haha. Let us know how it goes :)

I'm a returnee back here and was thinking of signing up for ww online. Let me get this straight, THIS APP that u recommended will do everything I need to do WW? $3.99 one time is so much better than $18.95 a month!! Lol!!

I have yet to try the app but based on the screenshots and reviews, it seems to be that way (regarding your concerns on the app that it has everything you need to do WW.) Says it has over 500,000 food items in their database and has a meal maker (I assume it's similar to WW's etools, the recipe builder.) I just may buy it right now, in fact.

Nursemomof06 01-10-2014 06:06 PM

I am new here. I have "stalked" 3FC for many months but have decided to take the plunge and join. It is great to have a place to go and read and receive great encouragement and understanding. I am starting WW at home by using points plus app on my kindle. Today is day 1. Here's for hoping for a great wgt loss!!

Healthyliving459587 01-18-2014 08:27 PM

Hello everyone!

I have been doing WW on my own for the past 12 months. I joined WW in 2005 and hit my goal weight 7 months later after losing 32lbs. Needless to say, I gained the weight back and +20 lbs. So when I started again in Jan 2013, I needed to lose 52lb to my WW goal. I learned the points system, not points plus and am doing points on my own. In the past 12 months, I have lost 44 lbs. I only have 8 lbs to get back to my goal. I don't "write" everything I eat down, but I have a dry erase board with my points and I mark down how many points I use daily. Then I erase it and start again the next day. I have been doing well for awhile then hit a plateau for a few months but now I am back to losing. Would love to chat with others who are doing WW on their own.

Hi, I'm doing WW solely at home too. I post in the monthly thread. I know this works, and this is the only way I am going to keep the weight off forever. I have learned from my past mistakes, and the smartphone Apps make it impossible to screw up. lol

Lucy1 02-06-2014 09:17 AM

Good morning, I am new at this 3FC thing. I am in great hopes to find friends with the same problem as me. I need support!!!!I joined WW four years ago, I lost a total of 98 lbs. I fell in love and let myself go again. I am know up 26 pounds and I need help getting back on track. I am not one to go to meetings and I never have been. I just need people to talk to and keep me motivated to do it once again. I hope I am not in the boat alone?

thisisart 02-06-2014 12:35 PM

another ww app

Hi everyone, I do ww at home on my own and use an app for iphone called iTrackBites. For me it works well, but I think I am going to try Ultimate Food Value Diary as well and see which one I like better. Hope to get back to you soon with my verdict!

memoree 02-08-2014 08:09 PM

I got off the wagon due to an illness that put me in intensive care but I'm back! Doing WW using my phone app only. I can't say anything bad about this app. It is AWESOME. (Ultimate Food Value Diary) It has a scanner and a huge database of foods. It will calculate everything for you including how many WW points you are to have each day. It's alot cheaper than WW online! It's 2.99 at Amazon right now.

tabuchheister 03-23-2014 07:18 PM

I am new to using this site. I just now looked up this app. I need to loose 20 pounds by sept. Daughter's wedding.

npotyonek 04-04-2014 08:17 AM

If I ever get a smart phone Im definetly getting the app! I use the calculator from back in 2008. For weeklies i use the dry erase. Points plus didnt work for me at all! Wish I would havefigured that out before my wedding! Still pi**ed about that!

:welcome:Osteengal, look for the "April" monthly chat. We have a small but caring and supportive group. Both at home and at centers posters are there.

I just started Weight Watchers yesterday and am doing it on my own. I got all the materials off of ebay (LAST YEAR :o) and I'm hoping to get myself motivated THIS YEAR :dizzy: !!!

There's a wealth of information on this site as well as the web about WW and I'm hoping to be feeling better just by eating better. The journal really makes me feel accountable and I think that's going to be the trick for me.

Any advice?

WW is great because you can eat all food groups in moderation. You are never deprived. My advice is to find some recipes you like. It won't even seem you are on a "diet" at all. Don't forget that fruits are zero points so make sure you eat 2 a day. I stick to low glycemic index fruits usually. Also drink lots and lots of water.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. Although I only joined yesterday, I have learned so much from this site and the people who take the time to post what works for them.

Thanks for the tip about the WW App. My friend does the WW Online and while she likes it, from what I've seen it's just not worth the money.

You're not in the boat alone - I'm here with you! I just joined yesterday and I'm so impressed with this site. This is my second day of DIY WW. It's now 10:30 PM and I haven't been hungry and my energy level is good. I'm thinking maybe I can do this!
