I'm home all day with my 4 month old and I'm basically stuck. We have 1 car that my husband has at work.
The most activity I get is house work and I'm thinking that I might start taking my son for a walk everyday. If this is all I'm able to do how long would you suggest I walk for? Also, this would be walking on flat ground. No up or down hill.
I live in Florida so it's chilly sometimes in the morning around this time of the year, but it can still be hot during the day. Because of the baby I worry about the sun and the heat.
My only workout resource is a Kinect with Your Shape Fitness. The only problem with that is being able to get through a workout without having to stop to tend to my son (who is EXTREMELY needy. He's a preemie.)
Any tips?

I waited until the sun went down, drove to the beach with my husband, and walked for about an hour. I think I got a somewhat good workout in. Not something high impact, but walking in sand while pushing a stroller has to be good for something.
It's not something I can do every single night, but I'll figure something out.
Do you have a carrier that you can wear with your baby in it while you work out? I mean, you don't have to do full intensity, but babies love movement and being close to mom.
Or look up work outs on youtube! I know sparkpeople have 10 minute workouts that get your blood pumping and there is bodyrock.tv or blogilates.tv . All free on youtube! When my son and daughter were still infants, the swing was my best friend! Also, nap times are great for working out. Hope you figure something out that works for you.
I do have a sling that I put him in, usually when I'm doing house work. He almost always falls asleep within a few minutes. There are some workouts on the Kinect that I can do while he's in his sling..I don't even know why I didn't think of that!
Things keep happening like today, I got him ready to go for walk. Got about 100 feet outside of my house and he started screaming. I thought, maybe if I keep walking he'll calm down and fall asleep. Walked a little more and he started screaming louder, and louder, and louder. To the point that he was blue. So I ended up having to turn around. I was going to walk around my neighborhood for at least an hour before it got too hot out.
2SpareTires that gives me an idea to use OnDemand. I know there are a ton of the 10-15 minute workouts on demand and I can always use youtube. Thanks!
That's a great idea We don't have cable anymore so that's not an option which is why I suggested youtube. Are you nursing because if you are than counting points should melt away the pounds even if you aren't able to work out in the beginning. Good luck!
I'm not nursing anymore. When I was before I was on no special diet plan but was still watching what I was eating (for the baby's sake) and weight was melting off me.
Once I stopped I started gaining back fast.
I do plan on giving nursing another shot soon. I'm not sure if I can do it because of calories and what not. I'm already having trouble eating enough to meet my points value daily!
Is it possible for your husband to watch the baby for about an hour after he gets home from work, so you can go for a walk or a jog or do a full workout?
SAHM to 4 kids 11years-11month.
When i get dressed in the morning to drive my kids to school, I put on my sneakers and my workout pants. I get home, feed and nurse the baby, put the baby for a nap and Turbo Fire for 40mins-1 hour.
That's the only nap my 11 month old takes, so it's just enough for a workout and a quick shower.
