Does anyone else have this problem?

  • I want to do WW. I know it works, it has worked for me in the past (many years ago). Over the last maybe 3-4 years, I have continually tried to start WW and never have made it past a day or two. So two weeks ago, I decided I was going to low carb it. I've done well and am on track for losing 2lbs in two weeks which I know is good. The thing is I don't like eating like this. I want more variety, I'm sick to death of eggs and cheese sticks.
Now, this is the problem. Over the last two weeks on two different days, I decided I was going to try and switch back over to WW and added carbs to my diet. On BOTH days, I lost control in the evenings. It's like something shuts off in me and I just don't care by the end of the day.
Is this normal? or is it all in my head? I have to say that I also have been on my elliptical machine regulary (5days/wk) for the past two weeks. That is more time in two weeks than I've been on it in the full two years I've owned it. So I'm feeling more energy on the low carb I guess, but I just don't want to have to eat like this all the time!!
Should I just suck it up and keep doing what's working? or do I just need more willpower? Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks for letting me vent!
  • auer, I did lots of different things before to try to lose weight--Atkins, cabbage soup, low-fat, just exercising, Southampton Diet, etc. I am now calorie counting in addition to exercising daily and I can tell you it works well for me. I am with you on the low-carb thing--that kind of food isn't the type of thing I enjoy so I couldn't do it..you have to find something you can and will do the rest of your life..for me calorie counting is it..

I was also a nighttime eater...I save about 1/2 my calories to eat every evening for dinner but then I GO TO BED..if I stay up, I have tendency to eat..

you can do this...we are all here for you..please feel free to PM if you want
  • Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will look into CC and see what happens. Maybe that will be it for me. I HOPE SO!
  • I too have tried them all atkins, southbeach, cabbage soup, blah blah blah but I found with the ww I had a balance of foods that were closer to my "normal" eating habits just more veggies thrown in which is good? the only reason I don't do calorie counting is I am lazy LOL the ww points it just eas and fast for me once I got going.

    keep me updated!
  • Yep, nights are the worst for me too. I can stay within my points by eating light breakfast and lunch and lots of 0 point snacks throughout the day. I MUST have dessert (usually popcorn or ww ice cream) but I only allow myself if I worked out that day. I don't know if I can change the fact that all my cravings come at night, so I do my best to work around it.

Thighs - good idea, maybe I need to start doing that! I stay up to late most nights.. the sooner i go to bed, the sooner the next work day starts
