Angie - good for you for not skipping the "make the lunch" routine. With 120 oz of water a day I know that salt will be gone before your next weigh in.

Carla - way to go on getting in that long walk to the restaurant! I'm glad to hear that you had no knee/ankle problems. It sounds like you did really well at dinner last night. We're on the same schedule because TOM is any day and I'm retaining water like crazy too. I might try some lemon in my water and see if that helps.

Michele - I'm glad to hear that you and Steve had a good evening and a good talk. As for the food, my suggestion is journal it, count it up and forget it. I think drinking lots of water really does help - it flushes all that sodium away.

I had a so-so day yesterday. I did manage to do upper body weights & some abs last night but I snacked a bit too much and used my activity points from Monday. I did head right for the carbs after dinner and then found I just wanted more. I think I'm going to try to be sure to eat at least one protein snack in the evening in addition to any of my usual snacks and see if that helps. Of course, PMS doesn't help any of this but TOM is any day now.

Have a great one!

Finally...I have a few minutes to read and post.

Its very hectic here and will be until school's out. I have found the only thing that really helps is working out. The tougher my day the more intense I exercise. Its like exorcising the demons out of me. Stress is what's keeping me from what I need to do and who I want to be so I simply can't let it take over. Quite the revelation considering I've always had a strong dislike for any kind of formal exercise. Due to this week's schedule I haven't had time to go to the Y so I can feel myself getting wound up again. In fact, last night I really lost it as far as points go. However, TOM started with a vengeance this AM so I'm going to lay the blame there and move on. I'm going to take out my frustrations on my treadmill tonight. Its a bit boring for me but at least it will help to chase away the evil stress monsters.

I was very surprised to see I lost 4 lbs after such a horrible weigh-in last week. I took the advice of whoever suggested putting lemon in the water and I think it may have helped with my constant battle with water retention.

Oops! I'm supposed to be on my way to work right now!! I'll post again later.

Have a water-filled Wednesday.

Hi everyone.

Donna - You might find that you just fine working the program at home. Sounds like you have a good plan - give it a try for a couple of weeks and if you need/want the meetings, you can go back.

Michele - Sounds like you enjoyed your dinner. Dinners like that are going to happen once in awhile. Sounds like you're doing what you need to - acknowledge it and move on. I'm glad you and Steve were able to talk things through.

Judy - Do try the lemon. I love lemon juice in my water anyway and had quite a bit when I got home last night. I think it really did help. I feel like I'm only packing 25 extra pounds, rather than 50. Carbs do have a way of begetting more carbs. Good plan to try some protein in your snack.

Karen B - Yay for you for breaking that evil plateau! Congrats on a great loss.

Kristen - I hope things calm down for you soon. It's good to hear you're getting hooked on exercising. Congrats on a terrific loss!

As expected, I showed a gain at the scale this morning. However, I didn't expect it to be so low - only .6 pounds. Seriously, yesterday I felt like I was retaining 5 pounds of water in my chin alone. So I was really pleased with such a small gain today. I'll just keep guzzling my water. Today is a bit problematic, food wise. We're celebrating the fact that our conversions are over and marking the final end of our former company as our old system went away forever this morning. And how are we doing this? Need you ask? Food and drink, of course. We're having these killer shells and meatballs (about the size of tennis balls) brought in for lunch. And then its drinks after work. I'll just do my best to be sane. Tonight I'll try to have a lot of water in between my glasses of wine. Or maybe I'll have beer instead - that always fills me up before I can do much damage. Anyway - I'm off for the next two days and am going to be doing major, and I mean major, housecleaning for Ana's birthday party on Saturday, so I should burn all those extra calories.

Have a great day.

Happy waterlogged Wednesday!

Michele- what a delicious sounding dinner you had last night! A birthday and Lifetime achievement sure were good reasons to enjoy it. Good to hear you and Steve had a long talk. Sure is hard to not take others for granted.

Judy- hang in there and keep kicking that PMS monster to the curb. He's got to get the message sooner or later! I've got a few friends who have done the carb diet and they talk about how when you have a carb, it's very hard to control eating anymore. I know carbs aren't good for me for lunch...if I eat pasta, I battle fatigue all afternoon long.

Karen- Way to go!! Great loss!! Savor the feeling and it'll carry you through the week.

Kristin- Nice loss!! I ditto my comment about savoring the feeling. It's a natural high. Try not to stomp too hard on the treadmill tonight

Carla- stay sane!! I'd have to take an hour at a time with all the food/drink tempatations you'll be dealing with. Can't say enjoy your time off for the next 2 days...house cleaning..yuck! But, I had to do it myself last week for Anthony's bday party/mothers day celebrations I hosted on Sunday. I sure wish I could afford a maid...even if she just did the bathrooms and kitchen.

Have a great one!

Good Morning!

Congrats to you losers out there, seems to be some good losses this week!

Quick post have to go shopping today for boss. He is redoing his backyard and wants a perrenial garden and asked me to pick out flowers for him. I have to say my garden is looking quite lovely this year thanks to the extra time I have been shopping for him. Giving me ideas and time to shop on his time.

Just a little idea I had if anyone is interested.

Below my mailbox I have a small rectangular planter, I picked up dark purple, red and white petunias and planted them in the planter in the shape of the American Flag. Looks pretty good and I am sure will look much better when they really start to bloom. Another thing I did was take a doll bed and use the headboard and footboard to make a "flower bed".

Have a great day!

Darn! I never did get back here to post yesterday, but here I am today, and I actually have a few minutes when I can sit down uninterupted!

Michele - many congratulations for making Lifetime!!!! You've done a great job and all your hard work has paid off. Your planting sounds great; you're very creative. Gotta love doing it all on company time .

Angie - hope you had a great time with Anthony's birthday party. Sorry about your gain this week, but I can't think of anyone else who can say they lost for 12 weeks in a row!

Carla - sorry about your small gain, but if you feel like you're full of water weight, there's a loss lurking there just waiting for you! Hope you made out okay with the foodfest at work. Just think ahead to the summer when you'll have time to plan and cook all those wonderful light meals!

Kristin - congratulations on your loss; it sounds like you've found some good insight into managing your stress

Judy - keep working through the PMS; you've been doing a great job all week, and with all your exercise; you'll pull through! Hope you're having a good day.

Donna - it can be done without meetings; I've lost 26 lbs since Jan 1 without going anywhere near a meeting. Couldn't do it without the support of all these wonderful women on this thread though!

Pat - thank goodness Darrell is okay! Good job on keeping up with the exercise!

Yesterday was super busy, didn't manage to make time to exercise
, but I'm headed off to the treadmill now to make up for lost time. Have a great day!

I've got brownies in the oven for this afternoon's reptile show afterschool(no BLT's!!) and I've got the potatoes boiling for tonight's dinner. Now I can take a little time for myself. Okay, I really should be doing the bills and tallying the t-shirt order for the school's field day but that will have to wait.

Donna- I'm doing WW at home and I use this board as my meetings. I can come here as often as I need to and at any time of day. I have gone to meetings in the past but when the group I was so successful with dissolved I couldn't find another in my area that was as supportive. I am putting $10.00 away each week I weigh-in and when I reach goal I plan to treat myself to something special. I have found over the years of dealing with this that its important to try different things and stick to what works for you.

Judy- How's the low-carb approach going? I agree that changing things can jolt your body into responding. I just don't know if I could ever give up my beloved bread...even if it is lite bread! How have you adapted your meals? It might not hurt me to learn to let go of my carb addiction. Any suggestions?

Carla- I am soooo impressed at your ability to make good choices while eating out. In the past that has been one of my pitfalls so I rarely eat out.

Pat- I hope the stress is starting to diminish for you. Take time for yourself. I have found that exercising really helps me as far as dealing with all the stress in my life. The stress doesn't go away, it just doesn't seem so overwhelming...good luck.

Karen-CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Plateaus are the scourge of weight loss. They're inevitable but that doesn't make it any easier to endure. Way to go!!!

I'm going to have to take out my frustrations on the treadmill again tonight. I'm hoping to fit in a full workout at the Y tomorrow. If not, Saturday's mine and I'll go 1st thing in the am. I'm just finishing my 1st water w/lemon bottle(20 oz) for the day. keeping busy and drinking water should keep TOM from sabotaging all my efforts...I hope.

Thinking thin this Thursday.

Karen B - Way to go on that great loss! I'm sure it makes all the hard work worthwhile! Way to go for heading over to the treadmill.

Kristin - I'm glad to hear that the exercise bug has got you although I'm sorry things are so crazy and stressful. I'm the same way - exercise really helps me deal with the stress. Sorry to hear about your slip but your attitude is great and your plan sounds like a great one - the treadmill can be a little boring but maybe you can spice it up by varying the speed and incline. Way to go on that great loss! What I great idea to put away the cost of the meetings for a reward when you reach goal. I'm only doing the low-carb twice a week and eating my usual the rest of the time (Tony and I usually have pasta twice a week). Today is only the second low-card day so it's hard to say anything yet. What I found on Monday was that the no carb snacks I had (yogurt and PB) were pretty satisfying - having one of those snacks didn't make me want to have more right away. I'm not sure if I will continue to have *no* bread on my low carb days since the bread I eat (Natural Ovens) is very high in fiber and made with whole grains - it's not your typical white bread - maybe I'll have 1 slice instead of two on some low carb days. I'll let you know more after I've done a few weeks of the 2 days/week of low carbs.

Carla - Sorry to hear about the gain but it's a small one and you know it was water. Your attitude is great! I am going to try the lemon juice today. I know what you mean - I think carbs beget more carbs too (love that expression, BTW). I hope yesterday's gatherings went well. I think the beer is a good idea - I find that when I have a light beer, it's the same points as wine and it is much more filling. Congratulations on getting the conversions done - although I know that you must have a lot of mixed feelings about it. Since I'll be away on Monday, Happy (Early) Birthday to Ana!!

Angie - It sounds like you are doing well. Thankfully the PMS monster is gone as of today although I still feel bloated. Today is my second no carb day of the week - I sort of like the shakeup.

Michele - I love your petunia flag! We haven't done much planting yet this year, but next weekend is the big vegetable weekend - we'll be pciking up and planting our tomatos and basil as well as some other annuals for the garden.

Well, today is TOM - I'm relieved that the PMS monster is out of my house although I am a bit crampy. I did so-so last night - went over by 0.5 point but had 1.5 food points in the bank so I'm OK. I had a PT appt this morning so I've already got my exercise in but I think I'm going to try to do something after work. I have a 3:00-5:00 meeting on an annoying topic and I think, like Kristen, I'm going to have to get rid of the stress with exercise. Tony and I were planning on going down to Atlantic City this weekend (it's our anniversary) but the reservations with our friends didn't work out so we are going to a new casino in Connecticut (Mohegan Sun) on Sunday and coming home on Tuesday. They have a health club so I plan on getting in a workout on Monday morning. I can get the menu of the restaurant we are going to on Sunday night (our anniversary is actually Saturday but we'll celebrate Sunday evening) to get an idea of what some good choices will be.

Have a great Think Thin Thursday,
Judy

Judy-FYI-Moheghan Sun is wonderful, while you are there you have to take the 15 minute drive to Foxwoods. You will only be about 1.5 hours from me. That is where Steve and I go. Too bad I will be in CT next weekend for a soccer tournement.

Michele - Tony and I went to Foxwoods about 6 months after it opened. Of course, I know they've expanded it quite a bit since then. I guess we'll see how things go - if we want to go for a drive, maybe we'll head over to Foxwoods.

Wow, it's quiet around here today. I just got my "head above water" at work today. I had a pretty good day yesterday - I ate at my max but didn't go over. Today is OK for far but I know I have to watch out later given that it's been a stressful day. I'm definitely going to get in an aerobics (step) tape after work - I *need* to work out to get rid of this stress! I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to get online tomorrow and we're leaving Sunday morning, so just in case I don't "speak" with you all again, have a great weekend! We'll be back sometime on Tuesday - I don't know if I'll get a chance to get on then - if not, I see you all on Wed!
