Good Morning!

Pat-great job with the McFlurries even though you really wanted it.

Carla-I hope you are still on your I can do this high.

I hope things are going well for you all, pretty much same old same old here. Going for a home equity loan and going to turn garage into a great room since we dont use garage for car, just a junk area. Now we will just have to find a new place for all the crap:D

Have a great day.

Carla - YAY! Way to go for getting rid of those 3 pounds forever. I think it's great that you walked to the trian station - listen, exercise doesn't have to be dripping sweat everytime, it just needs to be consistent. Sounds like you are on a roll, girlfriend.

Michelle - I know a lot of people that have done what you are doing - setting a high goal and then going lower. If I ever get near there (wait, correct that, WHEN I get close) I plan on doing the same thing. I'm a little nervous about my garden too - the crocus were blooming and then came 19 degree weather.

Pat - I'm sorry that your sister had to have a scare but glad to hear that she is motivated now to lose weight. Great job on not ordering a McFlurry for yourself! How is the weather for you? I wish I had time to take a walk today - it's over 60 degrees and sunny - and I'm swamped with work!

I had a good day yesterday although I wouldn't say it was great nutritionally. We had a quarterly meeting for my area and since a number of people were in from out of town, there was a get together at a bar for drinks after work. I didn't want to go at all but figured I should show my face. I almost ordered a club soda with lime but didn't so I ended up with the "dinner of champions" - two Cosmopolitans and a ff frozen yogurt at Penn Station. I left before the buffalo wings came though. I did have some fruit when I got home and measured out the pumpkin seeds. My sneak peek was good this morning and I'm determined to get it even lower before Saturday. I don't have any challenges so far for the weekend (thankfully). We have a lot of catching up to do and hope to just get out to see a movie. I always bring my own popcorn though so it should be fine.

Have a great Think Thin Thursday!
Judy

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to be MIA yesterday; I locked myself out of the house with wet hair and no jacket for an hour at 6 am yesterday in below freezing temperature, and my day only got worse from there. Late for work, no breaky, etc. etc. Today is proving to be much better, but I only have a couple of minutes to post, so I'll keep it short:

Carla - WAY TO GO with your great loss! You are definitely happening!

Pat - great to hear from you again! What great daughters you have keeping temptation out of your way!

Michele - you're doing great! way to go with taking on all that compulsory exercise!

Judy - love your dinner of champions!

Down one pound this week. Didn't really deserve a loss, but I'll happily take it. I'll try to get back later to post some more. Have a great on track day!

Hi everyone,

Pat - Sounds like your sister is very determined in her efforts to reduce her weight. Good for her! Good for you for not ordering a McFlurry for yourself and for not snatching the girls' McFlurries right out of their hands. I'm really going to try hard to make it through all three months of the Self challenge.

Michele - Yep, I'm still on that high. What a great plan to convert your garage into a great room. As for the junk, wade through it and pitch. Of course this advice comes to you from a master pack rat, so do as I say, not as I do.

Judy - Good for you for getting out of that bar before the buffalo wings came. Sometimes having a long commute home to the suburbs can work in our favor - it's a good excuse to get out of a "dangerous" situation. And yay for sticking to the frozen yogurt, fruit and pumpkin seeds. After a couple of drinks, I don't know if I'd have the willpower to stay away grease and salt.

Karen - Oh my goodness. Here's a {{{hug}}} for the horrible day you had yesterday. How did you manage to do that? If it makes you feel any better, John locked himself out of the house on Christmas Eve day a couple of years ago. Luckily Ana was in her high chair, but she was none to happy to be alone. I came home just as he and the neighbors SIL were trying to break into the bathroom via the window. Congrats on that one pound gone forever.

Had another good day foodwise yesterday. Three OP days in a row. My daughter, on the other hand, foiled my exercise plans. The Self challenge requires three 30 minute cardio workouts a week (with a suggested fourth, extended workout if you want to lose weight), 2 20 minute sessions of strength building exercise, and 2 10 minute stretching sessions. I was going to do some stretching and weight lifiting last night, but by the time I got Ana to sleep, it was 10:30 and I was way too tired. (And believe me, trying to get it done while she's up and about is not an option.) So I thought, ok, I'd substitute the weights and stretching for the bike ride I had planned this morning. Yeah, well, she woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't/wouldn't go back to sleep. John had to go to work in the middle of the night and got home just after Ana woke up, so I was trying to keep her quiet so he could get some sleep. Oh well, I'll fit it all in somehow.

I have my dinner out tonight, but I have plenty of points banked and will have 22 points to play with, so I should be ok.

Have a great day.

Carla

Michele - Great idea to turn the garage into a great room. One of our neighbors just did that and love it. I'd like to build a room on the back of the house, but it'll have to wait until we get through some of these college bills. Of course by then we probably won't need the extra room.

Judy - Good job getting out of the bar before the buffalo wings showed up. I might have given in and gotten a McFlurry for myself, but I figured at least one of the kids would have some left. It's beautiful here. The last two days have been in the mid 60's and sunny. Great walking weather.

Karen B - What a horrible start to the day yesterday! I locked myself out one time when Sara was little. Fortunately I had her with me, but it was a real hassle getting back in. Congratulations on the loss.

Carla - Yea!! You are on a roll. I need to look over the Self challenge and get ready to start on Monday. Have a good time at your dinner tonight.

I got in a walk this afternoon. My Tue/Thurs boss isn't busy right now so I have been getting off early in the afternoon. Tonight is the first class with my sister. I hope it is interesting...three nights for three hours a night. They keep the program to a small group so that people are more comfortable asking questions.

Talk to you later.
Pat

Karen B - Oh my gosh! I locked myself out of the house once, but my hair was dry and it wasn't freezing! I'm glad to hear that yesterday was an improvement - sort of hard for it not be. Congratulations on that pound gone forever!!!

Carla - Congrats on 3 OP days in a row! It's great that you are doing the Self Challenge too! Yikes - talk about a crazy day/night. I hope your dinner went well (fun wise as well as food wise) - it sounds like you had it well in hand.

Pat - How did the class with your sister go? Way to go on getting out for a walk. I did manage to get outside a little - just walking around the garden looking at all the things that were budding.

I had a pretty good day yesterday - I ate more points than I wanted to in the evening (I'm trying to space points more evenly throughout the day) but I did OK. I tried a part of one of my favorite step workouts yesterday (40 min) and my ankle felt fine afterwards - progress! It was also so much fun. I walked from Penn Station to the office this morning and if I don't get home too late, I hope to get in a little stretching tonight.

Have great one,
Judy

Good Morning! Hard to believe its the end of the week already.

Judy - sounds like you're on a real roll with eating and exercise. Great to hear that your ankle is holding up. It'll show on the scale tomorrow!

Pat - hope the classes are going well. If we all ate the way diabetics should, none of us would be in our present situation. I'm sure you'll both learn a ton. It's so important to manage diabetes well to avoid complications down the road.

Carla - thanks for the hug! Because our back yard currently has a few fence panels out due to the renovations, we have to take the dogs out on a leash. I'd just gotten out of the shower and dressed and took Lucy outside to pee for 10 seconds and when I tried to get back in, the front door latch wouldn't budge. Needless to say Mike was sent on an emergency trip to Home Depot that afternoon! Sounds like Ana has impeccable timing to foil your plans. You've had a terrific week, you should be patting yourself on the back!

Michele - your plans for a great room sound wonderful. You'll love having the extra space. How's the jazzercise going?

Have a great weekend!

Hi everyone,

Greetings from a much warmer Chicago. Of course, that also means that 10 inches of snow has melted almost overnight. I hate the sloppiness of the winter into spring transition.

Pat - Good for you for getting in a walk. How was the class with your sister? Karen's right, if we all ate the way diabetics should, obesity wouldn't be the problem it is today. Neither would diabetes, for that matter.

Judy - Yay for doing the step workout without any ankle problems! I should really try some step workouts. I think I'll keep that idea in my back packet for when I get tired of everything else. Sounds like you're on a roll! Keep up the good work!

Karen - I bet you were muttering a few choice words while you were locked out. I would have been tempted to break a window.

 to Michele and to Jennifa.

Thanks for your kind words everyone. They help keep me motivated, that's for sure. Dinner last night was really good. I felt like I ate well and I left food behind, which is a victory. My friend and I split a dessert (banana napolean with peanut butter ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over it which is my favorite flavor combo) that was so small I could have ate it in one bite, so not much damage there. Since I can't be sure of portion sizes, etc. I decided that in addition to using up all of yesterday's points, I'd throw all my banked points into the mix and call it a wash. Of course, my day had to end with more mishap. I was on the 9:30 train after just having missed the 8:30. A few stops before mine the train stopped because a car had been on the tracks (as in driving on the tracks, I believe) and a track inspector had to come out to give the go-ahead. We were delayed 45 minutes on top of what, for me, is an hour train ride. So it was late when I got home. But, on the bright side, I walked home from the train station, so I did get some activity in.

No particular challenges this weekend, other than it's the weekend. Tomorrow is "gotcha day", the anniversary of Ana's adoption, so we're taking her, as a surprise, to McDonalds for lunch. She always asks to go there to play (she calls it Old McDonalds) but we don't take her. I don't much care for McD's burgers, so I'll be ok.

Have a good day and a great weekend.

Carla

Hello all,

Work has been so incredibly busy lately I haven' t had time to post. And now I can't catch up with everybody, so I
will just say Hello and Stay On Program. Don't make me come back here and yell at you.

Hi, Cece! Good luck at McDonald's!

I am still on the ER4YT plan and I am very pleased to say that those love handles are shrinking! Yay!

In case you are wavering, here is a mantra:

Swimsuits are only 13 weeks away. Are you ready?

Merrylegs 03-09-2002 01:44 PM

Jennifa - so glad you dropped in to say hi. Nice to hear that the love handles are receding. Sounds like you're doing great with ER4YT, way to go. As for 13 weeks till swimsuits, I think I'm a year and 13 weeks away! Keep in touch, we miss your wit!

Karen B
