Hi ladies...I am having a better week staying OP. The kids went back to school today and the house is very quiet. I am getting a lot more done and a lot more "me" time. I am getting ready to go for a walk with my little one who is still home with me. It is nice and cool here today so I won't have any trouble with the heat.

likenoother-welcome! I hope you will find the support you will need on your WW journey.

Great jog Likenoother!!!! :carrot: and welcome to the board!!!!

Dale Junior Fan 08-28-2007 02:14 PM

Greetings

Another hot and humid one here today, I can't wait until fall, when it cools down. The heat just drains me. We had a little rain shower here and it cooled us down to 80 degrees for the time being.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I probably won't weigh either this week because of TOM. I will take my measurements to see that my workouts are paying off. A loss is a loss....right?

Jeanne: I am averaging a little more than 1 pound a week. I may lose 3 pounds this week, but won't lose for the next 2 weeks.:( But, I have also lost 4.5 inches. Everyone loses differently but I think 12 pounds is a lot.
WTG on the loss!!!:carrot:

Huniebunnie: Congrats on your 4 pound loss:carrot:

Likenoother: Welcome and Congrats on your loss this week:carrot:

With Likenoother on board we already have a combined loss of 11.4 pounds this week. That is just between three of you. Way to go ladies. Glad to see everyone else is staying OP and having a good week.

DeannaY 08-28-2007 03:43 PM

I would also like to join this group. I just started right now!!! Actually, I've had a pretty decent day. But, I guess my next weigh in would be on Monday. We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone!

What a day! I didn't get to finish eating the lunch I packed until I got home at 5:30! Tues/Thurs are my long teaching days (8-5) and I start at one college and then drive about 10 miles to a different one for the remainder of the day. In theory I have 2 hours between the class at one school and the first class at the next. This am I was overtired and running a little late from the getgo. Things just went from there! :p

I packed all my snacks and lunch so nice, stopped for skinny latte, since I hadn't gotten coffee at home. Soon as I got to the other school and was fumbling around at the desk I share, I tipped the latte all over the place. From there it was a frantic scramble to clean that up, find the assignments that I forgot to print last night at home, print them and somewhere lunch was only bite here, bite there! :(

And as happens often at the start of the semester, today was one of those days when everytime I started back to the office to eat, some other professor or student grabbed me in the hall. Printing wasn't going well because we got all new computers in our Mac Lab and the IT folks still haven't worked out the kinks on the network servers.

So zoooooooom through a class, the 20 minutes between that and the next got gobbled by questions from the Dept. Chair. Next class, discover that one of the handouts I printed was a duplicate file and NOT what I needed. Sneak back into the computer lab to print the correct file (while the IT folks are messing with everything. Can't figure out why the stupid thing isn't printing. Go to yet ANOTHER computer, get the print. Back to the class, continue with the lecture and assignment. Get informed by the office manager that somehow my files printed, but on HER printer! :?:

Crazy, just crazy! I let my class out half an hour early and came home to finish my lunch! :)

I am pooped! Thank goodness I only have one class tomorrow and it's not until 5PM! I was going to cook dinner, but think I'll grab one of the Lean Cuisine meals I have in the freezer for days like this. A big salad and maybe let loose 2 points on a glass of wine.

Thanks for reading this far, I needed to vent and DH is at work till midnight so I won't see him until the AM.

Everyone is so nice here. Thanks for the support and congrats. Right now I am done eating for the day. I'm just concentrating on drinking one more bottle of water and watching tennis. Any Biggest Loser fans here? I can't wait for the new season. It's such an inspiration for me. The new season begins on Sept 11, my bf's birthday.

LondonJulz 08-28-2007 10:40 PM

:welcome: DeannaY!! You'll love it here, so get settled in, look around, and join the the fun!!

I just got back from walking - I did a total of 7 miles today!!!!! (long story short, I did my normal 3 on the treadmill, then went walking with some friends who want to lose weight).... so the 7 miles a day won't become a habit (my legs are like JELLO) - but it was a lot of fun and pushed me right up to 1 mile away from my Labor Day walking goal!!!

Ruthannie - Sounds like you have busy busy days!!! I love having "healthy" frozen dinners on days like that......

Dale Jr Fan - Don't you just love the PMS Bloat?!??! :sumo:

Well, I have pride in knowing that if I don't reach my Labor Day goal due to "the bloat", I still will reach my exercise and walking goals!

Dale Junior Fan 08-29-2007 01:30 PM

Happy Hump Day

Just dropping by to see how everyone is doing. Another hot one here today...it is almost 100 degrees. Hopefully I will be able to walk tonight, it was a little to soggy last night. When I go to town next I will get those Leslie Sansone videos that I can use in case of rain.

Hope everyone is staying OP....I sure am. I am off to start the halloween mini goal thread so stop by over there and post.

London: Heck no....do you?.....lol. Your to funny;)

Deanna: Welcome to our little group. We are glad to have you.

INVU 08-30-2007 01:05 AM

This week has been no this month has been terrible first my friend passed away the next week a old work friend passed away now a friend of family is in a hospice with days left. Then on this mummys group there was a thread about a woman on the news who was told she and her husband were not allowed to adopt she was to fat.The woman is 126kgs I am in the 120s.Peoples posts in it were saying its right not to let her adopt as being that big was like having terminal/debilitating illness, some said that she would not make a good mother.I think its harsh and terrible and I feel like they are saying I am a bad mum to my baby as I have had coffee with some of them and they know my weight and its getting me down. And when I am down I eat :(

jar1965 08-30-2007 07:29 AM

Oh no INVU! Don't let stereotype put you into this mood! Read these boards there are millions of us on here and millions of us have children and are VERY GOOD parents!!!! As far as not being able to adopt.........well, I don't think that is a legal reason. In my opinion the people who would be protesting her adopting because of her size are probably (hopefully) only concerned that she would not be able to be active in the childs life. Such as riding bikes, walking, activities that include being phyiscal! I don't know.....I'm just trying to find the right words - because that would truly infurate me if it were for any other stupid reason!
I am also very very sorry to hear about your friends passing away! Oh my goodness! Had they been ill? Well, I am hoping that you are able to pull yourself out of this rut and don't let stupid and rude people get in the way of "YOU" and your weight loss! We may be overweight - but we are human and we have feelings too! Big hugs! Take care!

jar1965 08-30-2007 07:31 AM

likenoother - hi! I love biggest loser - however my schedule doesn't permit me to watch the entire episode!

mkjohn - how are things going?

ruthannie 08-30-2007 08:07 AM

INVU,

Yes, it seems that obesity and overweight are among the remaining politically correct reasons to discriminate. :mad:A similar adobption situation is here in the States. A man is trying to adopt his cousin's baby. He already has a child and the whole family is supportive, but the state adoption officials would not let him do so. He is extremely obese. Are they going to take children away from smoking parents too? With 50% of the population overweight and moving onto 1/3 as obese and so many children who need loving homes aren't we missing the picture?

Love knows no size. :)

You love your baby and that's the most important thing. You're doing the best you can with what life has thrown at you lately too. Be gentle, you're still reeling from all these losses. Be forgiving to yourself when you do use food to feel better. The people who judge probably have some secret they'd rather you didn't know. Unfortunately our struggles with food are there for all to see. :o

It will get better. If you need to stay away from certain groups when you are so vulnerable, then do so. Come here and we promise not to judge. :D

Likenoother - we LOVE Biggest Loser and plan on watching it this year again.... it looks like it's going to be SO good this year. We went to their website and watched a preview of the entire season - I cried! lol...... So, it'll be a good year!

INVU - I saw a similar story on the news about a man who wanted to adopt a baby that he had had custody of since the baby was 6 weeks old (he was 3 at the time the man wanted to adopt him). The man is married with another child as well and they turned him down for adoption because of his weight. I think that it seems like discrimination myself. They wouldn't turn down a couple because they're black or because they're Jewish..... but they can turn someone down because they judge them to be overweight...it's just odd to me - but there's a lot of things in the government that I question. I am also very sorry to hear about the tragic losses in your life. I am also an emotional eater as you say that you are. This board is FULL of supportive people who will support you even in your darkest of days. If I feel an urge to eat because of emotion, I come here first! I do some posting, read some posts.... and amazingly - the urges pass. We're all here for you.
