Awwww I know just how you feel. I don't know how much encouragement I can be since I am not doing well right now either What I can say, is that tomorrow is a whole new day.... with another chance to get it right.

I think that it is a good step that you are here seeking encouragement.... Reading some of the success stories on here has really ecouraged me and made me realize that it is possible and I am not alone.

You can do it, ONE calorie at a time !!! RA RA RA

Alright...you need to find your strength and your perspective.

You asked why you were here or why you were trying to lose weight?

I dunno...I can only say why from my own experience.

Losing weight will bring you good health, more energy, better self esteem and confidence.

You have to take it one day at a time. If you are having trouble with eating daily, then I suggest you make a plan each day doing so the night before...and stick to your plan depending on how many points you are allowed.

You can do it....take it one lb., one habit and one day at a time.

Are you journalling everything you eat?

I find when I am not journalling that its because I have fallen down on my eating. I keep a food journal online for others to see so knowing that someone might see what I am doing and call me for it keeps me on track better.

You can do it...just don't give up. As long as you keep going each day its better than not doing anything at all about your health.

I think I saw on Oprah once (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the quote: "It's never too late to stop a binge, even a half a pie is better than eating the whole thing". In other words - - go forward and don't let a setback throw you into your old habits again. That is probably the quote that I tell myself more times a day than any other. If I mess up and eat a bad meal and think "oh well, I just won't count points today, I'll take the day off" it is that quote that stops me. I hope that it helps you as well. Keep your chin up!!

I love that qoute...I had never heard it before.

I think I will have to keep reminding myself of that when I find myself in the middle of a binge. Thanks~

Sara;

I don't know if it will help, but your ticker says you have lost 14 POUNDS . . .

Did you know that 1 pound is 4 sticks of butter . . .

that means you have LOST 56 STICKS of BUTTER . . . that is SO amazing . . . next time you're in the grocery store stack up 14 lbs of butter and YOU have gotten rid of that . . .

Yes you had a slip, and it was two days, but better two days than two weeks or 1 week . . . so you slipped, now it's time to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and start new . . . you can't change the past, you have to concentrate on here and now . . . so quit beating yourself up, and lose 14 more pounds . . . make small goals, recognize when you've done well and reward yourself for those things (not with food) a manicure/pedicure . . . new lipstick, a massage, a facial . . . whatever helps you

Sara,
I say wow to LostBombera! I never knew that 1 pound is 4 sticks of butter! I can even draw some encouragement from what she said! I completely agree with the idea of rewarding yourself-- when I get to my next benchmark I'm going on a shopping spree at vicky's secret since by boobs are shrinking!

Also, Sara, I want to remind you that the gratification from losing weight doesn't come from numbers (at least not for me). Sometimes I set goals for myself and think, "ok, I'm going to lose 10 pounds by such and such a date". However, when I just think of the number 10, it doesn't mean anything to me-- it's a number. "I'm going to get to such and such a pants size"-- its just a number! I find that my goals are much more clear when I associate with them how i'm going to feel. I know the feeling of doing well on Weight Watchers; i love fitting into my clothes well, or just feeling better about the way I look than I did the day before. When I'm losing weight, nomatter whether its .5 pounds per week or 2.5 pounds per week, the gratification and satisfaction doesnt come from the number-- it comes from my confidence and knowing I'm in control. Two meetings ago, my leader said "nothing tastes as good as thin feels", and i can agree with that. Feeling like you've gotten somewhere with the diet, whether it's reaching a goal or just weighing in one week and losing even a tiny bit, is priceless

Just the fact that you're on the forum looking for support shows that you're being proactive! Take it one day at a time and use setbacks as learning experiences! Good luck!

Christine

Thank you for reminding me with the butter. I have been in a kind of slump and needed encouragement. The butter story reminded me of something. One day I ran into a friend in the grocery store. I hadn't seen her in awhile and she mentioned that she could tell I had lost weight. I told her I had only lost about 25 pounds. She took me to the pet food aisle and told me to pick up the bag of dog food. It weighed 25 pounds. She then said walk up and down the aisle. The butter thing reminded me that even losing 4 sticks of butter is awesome and I need to remember that. I will get to my goal but one stick of butter at a time.
Thanks for sharing that.

The stick of butter thing is really helpful. I think about it in terms of 5-pound bags of sugar sometimes, or 10-pound sacks of potatoes. Imagine, I was carrying around six 10-pound sacks of potatoes and almost a bag of sugar on top of that!!

One time in my past when I lost 50 pounds, we took my dog to the vet and he got weighed. When they said he weighed 50 pounds, I thought: "It's like I was carrying my dog around all day!"

No wonder I feel so much better lately -- I put down a 64-pound dog or a bunch of potatoes!!

It really is amazing to realise - no wonder I was more tired when I was heavier - I was carrying stuff around all day. No wonder stairs were an effort!

Everyone is going to have slips, but I finally understand, for the first time in my life, that this is a lifestyle and not a diet - so there's no wagon for me to fall off of, no diet for me to fail etc. The most valuable thing I have learned on WW is that I can eat and do whatever I want - it is my choice what I put into my mouth, and whether I get off my butt and exercise.

I have to believe that I'm worth doing the work for. I can't believe how much better I feel in the 10 weeks since I started this! So wake up tomorrow, see how you feel, and realise there's no failure, as long as you get up and keep going.
