how many points for a rice krispie bar?
Our gas station by our house sells homemade Rice Krispie bars made with peanut butter with Reece Pieces. They're my biggest weakness. How many points would you estimate for a bar that's about a 3 inches square (and about an inch thick). I estimated 10 yesterday, but I'm starting to hope that I was off!!! I think this might be more of a guesstimate type of thing, because I have no clue how much of anything was put in there, and there was no nutritional information.
Your opinion would be helpful!! Thanks so much! |
Usually Rice Krispie treats are around 2 points each but you may want to add a 0.5 to 1 pt for the pb and reeces pieces.
Here is the nutritional information for the packaged ones: Original (22g bar): 90 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, fiber 0g |
Seriously 2 points????? I figured I had blown all my extra points with the 3 I ate Saturday???? Can someone verify this for me? I can't seem to locate any other posts on Rice Krispie treats besides the pre-made Kelloggs ones and those are 2 pts and smaller than a usual serving of homemade treats

Personally for a PB one with Reeses Pieces I'd add 2 points for that. PB nor the candy is cheap in points.
The original recipe NOT MADE WITH PEANUT BUTTER OR CANDY is 2 points per serving and that serving is like 2"x2" I believe. |
Cool - I had a 3x3 regular w/o all the goodies including peanut butter!!!! - so do you think 3 pts would be right?
|
I would also look at the depth of that bar. The ones they sell at stores are often much deeper (taller) than the ones made at home.

Personally I'd count one from a convenience store as probably 5 or 6 minimum they are usually 2 1/2 x times the thickness as the ones you make yourself.

Okay - I had 3 of them - so 18 pts as a good measure - whew - that took up some flex points
|
I actually just made homemade rice crispy treats for the Mizzou game on Saturday and they are one of my biggest weaknesses, so I dutifully calculated points!! Here's my breakdown:
9 1/2 cups crispies 1 stick real butter 1 pound bag of marshmallows Pressed into a 9x13 pan, cut into 16 squares. This equaled 7 points per square, squares were approximately 2x3, 2" thick. Hope this helps! |
Yes Kelly that definitely helps. Good thing I've vowed not to use any more flex points this week after last Saturday - 7 x 3 = 21 points - Yikes - but I have to say they were yummy

3 in one day! I'd say at least 5 per since peanut butter is 2 per tablespoon, reguar bar is 2 and candy is at least one and that's for a 2x2. A 3xs is actual twice as big (2x2 is 4 and 3x3 is 9 sq. inches) so 10 is getting it about right.

VA Quilter - I was a chaperone on a band trip and was gone all day. Yes 3 in one day. The first two in the afternoon and the last one after the drowning rain and cold and the pan sat in my bus seat. I owned up to it and wrote it and was just trying to compute the points. I also know what to do next time I'm in a situation like this
