Loving the egg sub

  • Land o lakes has a fat free egg replacer (okay it is egg whites with color and some nutriants added) Scrambled, yum. 30 cal a 1/4 cup no fat, no fiber.
    Really hits the spot.

  • Hey Bitzy- you are ablsolutely correct. I have that in the mornings with my english muffin and it is very taste.
  • I've never seen the LandOLakes one but the Morning Star Farms one is better than Egg Beaters in my opinion --- they are all the same.
  • Egg whites and chemicals. I have egg white omelets - much cheaper.
  • While agree that getting a dozen eggs and using egg whites are much cheaper...

There are no chemicals in Egg Beaters:

What are Egg Beaters made of?
Egg Beaters are made from real eggs, but only the "best part" — the whites. Then we add vitamins and other nutrients that would otherwise be lost when the yolk is removed.

Are Egg Beaters as nutritious as whole eggs?
While the traditional whole egg delivers a variety of important nutrients, it also contains 5 grams of fat, 75 calories and a hefty dose of cholesterol — about 210 milligrams per large egg — all of which is found in the egg yolk. In contrast, Egg Beaters is actually more nutritious than traditional whole eggs. By eliminating the yolk, all of the fat and cholesterol(except with the Cheese & Chive variety) and more than half of the calories are cut out. In addition, the product contains greater amounts of important vitamins like A, B-12, D and E, as well as other essential nutrients such as folic acid and riboflavin.

Are Egg Beaters the same as egg whites?
No. When you separate the yolk and use just the white of the egg, you lose important nutrients found in the yolk. Egg Beaters adds these nutrients back in, providing an even better nutritional value. Plus, there's no waste from unused and discarded yolks.

    Why are Egg Beaters yellow?
Egg Beaters are naturally colored by beta carotene, just one of several vitamins and minerals added to Egg Beaters to make them nutritionally comparable to whole eggs, but without the fat and cholesterol.
  • I hear ya
I didn't find too much wrong with the egg substitute. Worlds better than many packaged diet desserts!

I am amazed and pleased with the huge amounts of food we can have on this system. As a trained chef (pastry, that's why I'm here) I have many many cook books and base formulas with which to work and know where to drop a high fat, sugar, carb from a recipe to make it better for me on ww.

There will be days when I will eat 2 eggs over easy with toast, I just can't do that very often so when jones'n for eggs, the replacement makes my life easier, takes no time and I had a coupon and they were on sale. (double coupon, super sale. I like that in a food product!)

QuilterInVA, did you achieve your weight loss on WW alone? That result is fantastic! I wish you contiued success and great health!
