The WW formula onto excel?

I'm not sure how to put the WW formula onto excel so that it counts my points. Does anyone know?

Love,
Deanne

The formula is:

POINTS = (calories/50) + (fat grams/12)- (fiber grams<capped at 4>/5)

So if you know how to do Excel you should be able to put in a formula based on your column headings/row numbers

What does the <capped at 4> mean? You should only count four grams of fiber?

W/W used to allow unlimited fiber (whatever the item had in it you could count all the fiber) but when people weren't losing because that 250 calorie/1 fat/20 fiber item came in at 1 point they were getting way more calories and not counting it.

W/W came out with the Winning Points program to say get as much fiber in your diet as you can but for figuring points you are limited to utilizing 4 gms only (so if it has 20 grams you can only use 4 grams for figuring points). This means it only reduces the poitns by .8 points for max fiber.

Ok, I got that part. Now please explain the "calories/50" and "fat grams/12" and "fiber grams/5". Does that mean you divide the # of calories by 50? The fat grams by 12? The fiber by 5?

yes

Here's the math formula that I have seen: Points = (Calories / 50) - (Fiber * 0.2) + (Fat * 0.083).
Don't know if this will work with Excel, 'cause I am thisclose to being computer illiterate.

That is an unofficial formula that someone came up with (I think to try to make it easier) the formula that I posted was from the actual W/W patent (public knowledge).
