I know that this question has been asked before, but, how do I count V-8 juice? :o Is it counted as a veggie, or what? I know that this is a stupid question, but for some reason I'm confused. Thanks in advance.

V-8 juice
1 cup = 0 pts a vegetable

What about the V-8 splash?
I just discovered diet V-8 splash and like it a lot.
one big bottle has 4 servings, each serving has 10 calories and 100% of the RDA for vitamins A and C. Ingredients look like it's pretty much all juice and water, with some extra vitamin C added. Can I count this as a fruit/veg? If so, how much juice would equal a serving? Carrie |
The V-8 Splash is only 10% juice, so I don't think it counts as a fruit/veggie serving.

My WW leader brought in Diet V-8 Splash to our meetings herself, and told our class that it counts as a vegetable.
Although I count the first cup of regular V-8 as 0 points, I count the second cup as 1 point to account for the calories I'm getting. Otherwise I'd just guzzle the stuff all day long. :) |
v-8 and v-8 splash
Regular V-8, the vegetable juice, counts as a vegetable and has zero points. Be careful with it as it is LOADED w/ sodium -- 875 mgs per 12 oz serving, and will likely cause water retention in those who are sensitive, so it's not something you want to be guzzling the day before a weigh in.
V-8 SPLASH, the Fruit Juice IS NOT acceptable as a fruit serving -- as it has NO nutrients, no fiber, no nothing. It can't count as a fruit because it has nothing in it except a minimum of vitamins added to it, that is, no real fruit nutrients and it's only 10% juice. Just because it has vitamins (and only A and C, at that) does not qualify it as a fruit serving. (HiC, not a fruit; vitamins by themselves, NOT A FRUIT). So enjoy the V-8 Veg juice as a zero point veg snack; and if you DO drink the fruit one, count the points if you drink more than 3 a day; and do not count it as a fruit. You will be cheating yourselves. |
V-8 does make a low sodium version, if you're interested. It has a WAY different taste than original, but you can spice it up with a drop of hot sauce or a squeeze of lemon or lime.

Yes, Pippin,
I take an individual can of V-8 low sodium to work each day. It quenches my thirst and appetite, counts as a veggie serving, and is real good. A winner! 234/205/thinner |
