How do you Calculate Points for a Recipe?

  • I have been told so many different ways to calculate points for a recipe, and I was wondering what you all thought. I have looked at all of the different ways, and they vary by a few points, which could really add up during the week if your'e doing it wrong.

    How do you all calculate points for a recipe?
  • There are 3 ways to do points for a recipe:

    1) figure points per ingredient add them up and divide by the number of servings for your points

    2) figure total calories/fat/fiber for each ingredient, add up each category, divide by the number of servings and then figure points per serving

    or

    3) get a program like Mastercook (or use the Recipe Builder with online/e-tools <but many times it is wrong because it caps the fiber at 4 for the entire recipe not per ingredient<) and enter the recipe and let it do the nutritional calculations for you then figure your points
