Points plus allowance too big?

I am afraid my points plus daily allowance is too big. I am a male, 380 lbs., 73 inches tall, 47 years old. The calculators I used all say 71 points, but that seems to be a whole lot of food. Can I really lose weight eating that much?

was it from the WW website? Just for a reference I think males get more than females and I get 56 pts at 69 inches and 356 lbs. Sorry I'm not much help, how about calling your local center and asking them if it's abnormally large

It's likely not too much for you, no. I know it seems like a lot, but I started out on 51 points (female, shorter than you, weighed less to start), and I still lost weight.

But, you're going to have to try it out for a week or two to see how it feels. If you're getting too full on that number of points, don't worry about getting them all in at the beginning... As long as you're getting in your Good Health Guidelines! (Very important for your nutrition.)

Some days it's hard to get in that number of points. Other days they go by fast!

Thanks for the input, it is reassuring. I ate 52 points today, and feel fine. But I'm sure there will be days when I'll be grateful for the rest being available to me.

I felt like I had too many points as well. I have 56 and when I used 48-52 I would lose weight. The last two weeks I have averaged around 46 points and have lost more - 3 to 4 lbs per week. I feel full, no significant cravings.
Worried about the warnings of losing too quickly but so far I feel like it is working for me.

You might want to start tracking calories as well just to really see what you are getting. I have been doing that and plan to for the first month or so and even only going on second week has helped me "see" the overall plan much better. Fatsecret dot com is what I use. Best of luck to you.

I have the same question as Dfrat. My husband has the same number of points. 71 is actually the most allowed on Points+. He is 6'1" 365. He usually has trouble eating all of those points in one day, but sometimes not on others. The first week he lost about 8 lbs. the second week only 1.5lbs :( He wasn't happy, but I think part of the problem was our scale was unreliable. Hopefully with our new scale, we will be able to figure out if his points values are too high. I don't want him getting discouraged because he's not dropping weight.
