Points for bannock bread?

  • Yesterday I went to the Farmers Market. I bought some Bannock. It is a bread that the Indians make. Would anyone know how many points are in 1 slice?

  • April, was it the fried bannock or the one cooked over an open fire? If it wasn't fried then I think I would count it like regular bread...1 point for 1 slice.
I remember helping to make bannock while camping in Jasper with the family. We'd make the dough and then wrap it around a small moist branch to cook over the fire. Couldn't eat it without a little butter and jam though!
  • I was reading a romance novel about a month ago...one of those medieval things...and they talked about bannock bread...didn't have a clue as to what that is! I'm sure they didn't count points back then!
  • You could cook bannock over an open fire, but it was probably baked in an oven.

I think I will count it like bread.

  • Gail, I'm sure you're right about them not having to count points.
Have you taken a look at the original Weight Watchers program? Now THAT was almost medieval!
