popcorn points (cooking method)

does anyone cook their popcorn on the stove?? in a pot???

you have to add oil to the bottom of the pot so it doesn't burn. do you count this oil as points?? is it only to coat the kernels and therefore doesn't count after popping??

I'd say count it. I'd rather be up a few points than overeating my points.

Anything coating the kernels is going to be a part of what you actually consume...the outside of the kernel ends up on the inside part of the popped corn (a couple pieces fly off, but most of it just gets turned inside-out, so to speak).

I pop my popcorn in a Whirly-Pop, and have had great luck using non-stick cooking spray.

My husband grows our own popcorn, and we pop it on the stove with canola oil. I count it 1 point per cup, which may seem a bit high, but I'd rather have 2 or 3 cups of that, than a whole bag of lite microwaved stuff.

Actually, I learned this from my 83 year old grandmother. She puts plain kernels in a brown paper bag, folds the top down a few times, and pops it in the microwave. Fat Free! I now do this for my family. And we add the sprinkle flavors (less for me) as needed.

I just invest in an air popper. BEST INVESTMENT EVER. I made 1 cup of kernals and that was a ton for my boyfriend and I. Also, I don't have to sit by the microwave making sure I don't burn it(which I have done before).
