when counting vegetable points...

ok, just to clarify, if i make a salad with a serving of lettuce, mushrooms, and cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, etc.....

those are all 0 points rights. but when you add them all together. i mean doesn't that equate to something. is it only 0 points if they are by themself. i'm confused.

If there is no dressing on it, then no, there would be no points, each vegetable in and of itself has no points because of the fibre content, HOWEVER, it still contains calories, if you eat 1000 calories worth of vegetables, it's STILL 1000 calories... (although GOOD calories, lol). I believe the WW journals have something in there about zero points foods and portions. Good luck!

I never count any amount of vegetable for points (other than potatoes, etc).. although that may not be recommended, but it works for me. I figure the amount of vegetables you'd have to eat to equal 1000 points won't leave much room for other food anyway!

i believe that the WW position on this is that 0 points veggies are true 0 points foods - you don't have to count them. (yes, they have calories, but most people don't eat enough of these veggies to hurt their weight loss.) keep in mind some veggies aren't 0, like corn and peas.

but if you come across other foods that are 0 points for a serving, we are to limit those to 5 servings a day. if you go over 5, you should count them. some things like this i've found are strawberries, egg whites, and certain condiments.

(i got the 5 a day thing from the WW website)

Princess is correct. W/W online/e-tools has an article called When Zero Doesn't Equal Zero that helps most understand

You can eat as much zero point veggies as you want and they remain zero HOWEVER we do have people that choose to count them even after many leaders (who post over at WWMB) and their own leaders tell them they are 0.

I don't count the veggies.. except the potatos, corn, peas, etc. Generally the only veggies I eat are 0pt veggies. I think the 0pt thing helps people, like me, to eat more veggies. When I'm running low on pts but I'm hungry, I eat veggies.
