Other People's Recipes
Does anyone have advice on points for recipes other people have cooked? Last night my bf surprised me with dinner on the table, a big pot of chili, he is the greatest cook in the world, I wasn't going to ask questions because I had a rotten day & him cooking me dinner was so thoughtful. I know it has Italian sausage, refried beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, and some other kind of beans, and tomato juice. That's all I know. This has happened before with other people besides him, and I hate questioning them to death for ingredients. Are there any ball park figures I could use for certain meals?

You will love the new WW Momentum Plan. There is an option called Set Point that covers this situation. It gives the number of points to count when you don't know the receipe or when you are eating out. They are in the new materials that will be released starting tomorrow. For now, look up a chili recipe and just use that as an estimate.

I am on the flex plan. I have a large extended family who does not seem to understand that I need to know ingredients and why I avoid certain things. I always just try and estimate the best I can on points and then add about 3-4 points OR I estimate what a (in the case of chili) a 1 cup serving would have in points and then I only eat 1/2. I leave the other on my plate but I gush to teh host or hostess about how incredible it is. I tell them I am dieting, my stomach has shrunk and I am unable to eat as much as before but it was wonderful. Not exactly a scientific method but it does help me from completely twisting off and using flex points for the week or going over my daily point allowance. Hope that helps.
