Fiber One Points

Many points on here state that 1/2 cup of the original fiber one cereal is 0 points. However using my slider I get 1 point. 100 calories, 14 g fiber, 0.5 grams fat. Am I missing something?

The nutritional profile for Fiber One in Canada is different from what it is in the US. Here 1/2 cup is something like 45 calories, it ends up as a 0 food.

Something about the difference between kCals and kJoules? I'm not really sure why :p

Here is a recent thread that's a bit relevant, people were talking about a similar phenomenon:

I've not checked into it, but I've heard that Fiber One calories are based on deducting the calories from the fiber (4 cal per gram) so maybe that's why the labels are different.

I think companies should not be allowed to do that, unless there's a disclaimer to "net calories" or something like that.

It is different between Canada and the US.

Here in Canada ALL calories must be shown on a label. In the US (like Suzanna said) they are allowed to deduct the calories from fiber. It is like that for a lot of foods, not just the fiber one cereal.
