Default Monday, Oct 1!!

Its October...and the U2 song October comes to mind...how was your weekend girls??

Mine was good - went to see Zoolander (ha ha, very Ben Stiller!) and then on Saturday I went to babysit my niece and another kid....we watched the Grinch cartoon with my niece, it was her first time, and she LOVES the book, so I thought why not. She loved it.

Then yesterday I read more Harry Potter (I have them all...) and bought new runners, Asics!! That was good, so b/f and I went to play basketball. That was fun. Then we watched O brother where art thou and went to bed.

A good weekend!

Tonite, over to mom's house for dinner, and tomorrow - A PEDICURE! My first one ever!!

Well, I better get to work, since I am here early. come out and play today!!

Hi Belle & Everyone I hope you all had great weekends. Mine was a blast. I went out to Kansas City for a Rennaisance Festival that my friend have started a tradition of going to. The weather was great and we had a lot of fun. Flying was a breeze, no trouble at all. One of my flights coming back was cancelled on Sunday but since they knew it already when I flew out USAirways fixed that no problem. All in all it was one of the best flying experiences I've ever had and almost entirely hassle free so if you're worried about flying, don't worry! I didn't even need any extra time (which is good since I didn't allow for any!)

Belle... funny you should mention Harry Potter this morning. I picked up the first one of the series on my layover coming back and read it on the plane and finished it when I got home last night. It was okay. It had fairly good character development. I don't think I'm nearly as impressed as the world seems to be over them tho LOL.

Anyways... I'm off to do something productive... maybe go grocery shopping. Talk to you all later!

Hi Belle, Shalyne, everyone!

Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was quiet but enjoyable. Didn't do much at all - the highlight was going shopping yesterday and buying some new lights for the flat, a pot plant and a birdfeeder. The feeder is one that sticks on the window and the idea is that you can sit and watch the birdies eat, but so far they haven't shown any enthusiasm ... I guess it'll take them a while to notice it. Hope they come soon though or I shall start nibbling the peanuts

I love Harry Potter! Can't wait for the film to come out next month ... and we are following the casting news ont he 2nd one too. Apparently Hugh Grant has pulled out of playing Gilderoy Lockhart, but they are talking about Richard E. Grant replacing him so we will have to see ... Belle, if you love the Harry Potter books, try Diana Wynne-Jones, she wrote several similar ones years ago about a parallel universe where people have magic ... I have The Lives of Christopher Chant and Charmed Life, but there are others too. I love 'em!

Ok, supposed to be working. So far I have redesigned my MyYahoo! homepage to include a diet tracker and Garfield cartoons ... what an achievement

Back later!

Hi Pals!

How is everyone today? My eekend was great! On friday DF'sparents came up and stayed over night. Nice visit. Saturday we bought our car Its 10 years old but in very good condition and its exciting for us b/c we havne't owned a car in three years. Then Saturday I spent most of the day at the mall where I ran into some buds and we decided to go out for supper. THen at the restaurant we ran into some more pals. It was a great evening Yesterday I went to a dinner party at my brother's Some lady came and cooked the meal and then tried to get us to buy her $3000-$5000 pots. They were excellent pots and a very healthy way to cook but that's just too much money, at least right now. Today I have a ton of laundry to do, grocery shopping and I'm going to apply for a second job at a few places.

Belle your weekend sounds fun! Are you all done with that big stressful prject at work?

Shalyne, that's good to know about flying. Sounds like you had a fun weekend too.

Lolly when you say you bought a pot plant please tell me you mean a plant in a pot! I don't know about over there but here a Pot Plant means marjuana!

Hi to everyone else. Have a super day

-Rina

Rina, noooooooooooooooooooo, not that sort of pot Actually it's a Spathiphyllum or Peace Lily. It's lovely but tropical, so I hope it survives in freezing Oxford

Hi everyone - I had a nice weekend. It all started at WI Saturday AM - down 3.6 - YAY - that's bouncing back from the gain I had last week so I'm happy. I got to spend some quality time with my mom and grandma and had a fantastic day with the BF yesterday (aquarium, beach, sushi and a gorgeous moonrise) I guess it's laundry and TV tonight. ANd I reached a personal fitness goal too, I normally use a mounting block to get up on my horse because he's really tall but saturday morning for the first time, I got up all by myself!
I like to set small attainable goals. that way I get to celebrate more often. Oh and...I found my measurements and re-did them but I left them in my car - I might go get them at lunch - it's pretty cool. It's very encouraging to see everyone else's posted.
Oh and for all Canadians out there - we had samples at Saturday's meeting! I've never heard of it happening before - it was the 2pt bars and they were OK - I prefer the slimfast peanut butter crunch ones and they're cheaper.
Anyway, back to work for me
Later

Default Harry Potter and the Like

Thanks Lolly, I'll try those books as well. Have you read any of Madeline L'engle? her first book is called "a wrinkle in time", its fabulous, same idea. My older sister read it out loud to me when I was in grade four, and I have loved it ever since!! They are worth reading, for kids and adults!!

I can't wait for the harry movie either! November I think here.

I like Garfield too...hee hee heee...

Shay - good to hear that flying isn't such a big event now! Glad you had a good time!

Rina - pots can cost that much? Yikes... congrats on your new car - I loved getting my civic!! Enjoy, fellow car-owner!! OH, and yeah, its over but there are new stress projects, my boss is getting me into "project management". Should be fun....

KT - woo hoo on your fitness goal and loss!! I still use a stool or a man, whichever is closest!! I am so happy for you

Kay, back to work!

OOOOHH! I love a wrinkle in time - They just filmed the movie here in Vancouver. A horse from my barn plays the rear end of a centaur - which is unfortunate because she hs a beautiful face. But it's a lot of computer gen stuff so it won't be out for a while.

Happy Monday! Another quiet day around here it seems....

Belle - I thought of the U2 song this morning as well when I realized it was October! I saw them in May when they came thru Chicago, and I just got tickets last week to see them in 2 weeks when they come back!!! I cannot wait. AND, I am going to see them in Las Vegas in November! Can you tell that I like them?!

Shalyne - Sounds like you had a fun weekend. It's good to know you didn't have any trouble flying. I am not at all afraid, just concerned as to how long it may take now so your news is good news!

Lolly - You seem to be having a great time decorating your new place! Hopefully you'll get to see a few little birdies soon!

Rina - Congrats on the "new" car! How exciting!!

KT - Way to go on the 3.6 pounds lost! That is great!

I had a fun weekend. One of my best childhood friends got married on Saturday and it was like a grade school reunion - I saw so many people that I haven't seen in years and we had such a blast! Now, I am gearing up to take the LSAT on Saturday. I will be so glad when it is over and then I can start filling out law school applications...

Have a good one!

HI all, I'm back, kind of. Did you know that there are 12 weeks till Christmas?? Neither did I until my WW leader told us on Sat. So this other lady and I bought the 12 week journal and decided to really get into it. She is prob. in her 50's and a totally different lifestyle than me, but we talk and share at the meetings and decided we are going to do this!! And I journaled this weekend. At first I wasn't going to start until Sunday, then I said, what the heck, and did it for Sat. too. I was over by a couple, but usually on Sat I am over by at least 10, usually more. So that was encouraging!

I am extremely exausted today. First the convention last week wiped me out, then Sat and Sun night Emma was up screaming all night because she was teething and constipated. It was like I was in the first couple weeks again, nothing would calm her. It was aweful and all of us are so tired. Early to bed tonight. Paul had her at about 1:30 this morning and the old Mickey Mouse Club show came on with Annette and Emma was screaming and screaming, then they started singing and she quieted and fell asleep. It was weird!!

OK, lots of work to do!

Default late response....

Hi all!
It's Tuesday, but I thought I'd write a few lines as well.

My weekend was sooo lazy. Was in Berlin last weekend with work for a respiratory congress. Great fun but exhausting. I did a lot of walking as well. Saw checkpoint Charlie and the wall among other things. Interesting.

This week Janno is at his parents, meaning I don't have a car. Complicates things a bit but not much. I just hate taking the train. People are so rude.

Tonight I'm going to listen to the Swedish top military guy. Going to be interesting to hear what changes the Swedish military has made after the US attack.

Anyway, have a nice Tuesday
