Happy Tuesday!

I'm having some really bad migraine issues today, I woke up with one so today is going to be a really long day... Hopefully it will get better soon.

Staying on plan but exercise is still a challenge...

How is everyone doing today?

Hi everyone & Welcome Lulu - always nice to have new members.

My weekend was fun & I didn't do too bad with my eating. Had bbq steaks on Sat night & I brought a red cabbage side-dish & salads and skippped the garlic bread & had fruit for dessert. On Sun we served spaghetti & I had 1/2 of a spaghetti squash with a few noodles then some meat sauce. I had a small piece of cheesecake for dessert which company brought - so overall I did fine. Thurs will tell the tale - that is my official w/i day. Also got to curves Sun & Mon morning - so off to a good start for the week.

Princess - nice job on your loss!

Have a great Tuesday!

Hi TUrtles,
Princess, do you get migraines often? I understand they are really tough. I hope the headache lifts quickly and you feel much better soon. :grouphug:
Is the exercise challenge connected to your migraine or are you having trouble putting exercise into your regular day?

I'm doing fine. I've used all my WPA's for the week, but I WI tomorrow so I am hoping I'll be okay. I'll have to be very careful today and do the right thing. I'm pleased with my exercise efforts because it's not easy to get back into the swing of exercise for me once I let it lapse. Still doing yoga almost every morning and adding 1/2hour of treadmill. Will soon step up the 1/2hour on treadmill to 3/4hour and eventually one hour. When I walk for an hour, I am able to walk three miles and it helps my weight loss considerably. Take care, write in often, I love the direction this site is taking. Welcome again to all our newcomers.
As Bandit would say, "Keep on keepin' on."

whoops--Bandit you and I posted at the same time. Congrats on making positive choices over the weekend. I've got to buy myself some spaghetti squash because you have mentioned it a couple of times now and it sounds yummy. Good luck on your upcoming WI and :woo: for getting to Curves
Take care and everyone have a great day.

I'm sorry you're feeling under the weather, Princess. If you mean in general, exercise gets easier to stick to the longer you do it. If you just mean today, I'm not sure I could work out with a migraine either.

Sounds like you are on the right track, Bandit.

Judy -- WPA? Workout Points Allowance? Good luck on your weigh in.

Ooh, ladies, my local Fry's (same company as Kroger's I think) had Asparagus on sale 10/$10 and they were wonderfully skinny. If you have one accessible, I think today might be the last day of the sale. I bought 3 pounds and steamed it -- just the vegetable, nothing else -- nothing that costs 0 pts has a right to taste that good. :D

I'm glad I have mousie's excellent help too. I wouldn't call myself an expert, no. But it's finally a habit for me.

Good luck, ladies! My WI is tomorrow...I'll hopefully be able to post Wednesday and Friday. See you soon!

Afternoon all!

I have gotten migraines for a very long time... I take perscriptions meds for them now but sometimes nothing really stops them, when that happens I stay home in bed for the day but I could not do that today so I had to push thru.

The exercise is a challenge for me this time of year... I hate to walk in the cold and don't have a treadmill... I bought some walk away the pounds tapes but I my oldest son borrowed the living room DVD player so I am waiting for it to be returned so that I can get started on them again. As the weather gets nicer I don't mind going out for walks after work, normally take one of the dogs with me for company but when it is cold and rainy like it is now I just don't even try and go out... Once I get motivated it will be easier, it is just the getting started that I seem to have trouble with :D

Talk to you all tomorrow!
Princess

Quicky:
WPA means weekly point allowance in WW talk. I am a member using Core plan, but I still get 35 points to use for non-Core foods thoughout the week.
I am also earning activity points again.

Princess, I know what you mean. It was like pulling teeth to get back into the acitivity mode for me (although I do attend a yoga class once a week). Now that I'm back exercising I really feel good about it and even proud of myself. I know you'll figure out a way to exercise to help speed up your weight loss.

Happy Wednesday!

Feeling much better today! :carrot: And it is supposed to be sunny later this afternoon and a bit warmer :carrot: which means I can take a mini walk on my lunch break :D very happy about that!

How is everyone doing today?

I made a chicken dish last night but must have added too much salt so it means drinking even more water today to get rid of it... I drink a lot of water anyway so that is not a problem.

Congratulations to everyone that lost this week... seems like everyone is doing really well staying on track and all.

Have to run but will check back in later on.

My GOODNESS, Turtles! I've been busy, and here I come back to all these posts! We're the busiest we've ever been, and I think it's great. :) No one be offended if I miss something, though, there's a lot here!

Bandit, you've got things rockin' on. It sounds like something clicked, and now you're getting great results for your efforts. I'm sure it feels wonderful to be so handsomely rewarded. :)

Judy, way to go with handling the family! Family's family, and they won't go away because you don't have a meal or two with them. I think you should be proud of yourself for making good decisions that work for everyone. :)

Princess, my grandmother had migraines, and now my sister and I do, too. :( Thankfully they skipped my mom, but I've just started having them in the last year or so. I don't get the throbbing pain (I get steady pain), but I definitely get the light and sound sensitivity and the nausea. :( I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, they're the worst.

Ariana, you keep your workouts consistent (no changes) because warm-up is supposed to be gentle and easy. It's thought to be a distinct "part" of the workout--it's not the ACTUAL workout, it's a separate part. Your body hasn't had enough time to warm up--for the ligaments and tendons to loosen, for the blood flow to be shunted to the working muscles--if you're increasing your demand DURING the warm up. Warm up isn't a time when you're trying to build stamina or endurance or make progress, it's a time when you're signalling your body systems "okay, this is what we're doing now". You've got to allow time for that to happen. My body takes a loooooooooooooooooong time to warm up--some days I'm warm at 10 minutes, some days it takes as much as 17! I can feel, though, when that switch-over happens. All of the sudden I feel loser, I move easier, and my breathing changes. I feel...vital. It's great, but I can't force it to happen any quicker than it does.

Lulu, you still there?

As for me, I've dropped the bloat and I'm back where I was the friday before last. I'm hoping to lose something between now and THIS friday, but if I don't I will accept it. Home/marriage stress is making it hard for me to eat right now--I'm trying to eat, really, I'm NOT intentionally starving myself. I've just got so many nerves in my stomach that it's hard to eat right now. :( I'm hoping that things can get settled. This is going to be a trying time, Turtles. This--what is coming--could change the structure of our marriage on a fundamental level. I'm worried, but it has to happen. :(

I'll check back when I can, Turtles. Keep on keepin' on, everyone. :)

Princess -- you might try Curves. It's indoors, so it's great year round, and it alternates cardio and strength training. It's also a supportive environment, so it encourages you while you work out. I got started with Curves, after not having had a steady workout program in at least ten years. After a year at Curves, I was ready for Bally's, confident and in better shape. I credit Curves with helping me get back into working out. Anyway, glad you are feeling better!

Judy -- I forgot you were doing core. I used to forego Core because it meant making too much food on your own. Nowadays I can't eat most prepared food -- it tastes horrible to me -- so I make most of the food I eat. I don't know if I could do core, though. I wish you the best of luck, though!

Well, ladies, today is my first day on the Wendie plan. I resisted the bagels (1/2 a breugger's bagel and a small amount of cream cheese is at least 4 points). But for a while now, everyone's lunches at work look SO GOOD, and I am SO JEALOUS when I look at my little 4-7 point meal. I know that the satisfaction of richer food is fleeting, and not greater than the satisfaction of being skinny, but STILL. Grr.

Anyway, I wish all of you ladies a good day. I'll be doing my grocery shopping tomorrow during lunch (when I usually post), so I'll see you ladies Friday!

Ariana2000 03-29-2006 02:48 PM

Hey Mousie! You posted just as I was!

Thank you for the feedback, mousie. That does make sense. Is it okay to decrease the workload as I cool down though? I did the interval training yesterday as we had discussed, and it felt great. These last few weeks, cardio has finally started to feel good instead of exhausting, and I don't know if that means I'm not working hard enough, or that I'm just in better health. :o

If you're having trouble eating because you're nauseaus (sp?), try peppermint or mint tea. It's a natural anti-nausea. It always helps when my acid reflux upsets my stomach.

I'm sorry about the stress, mousie. I hope everything turns out for the best, and know that we are all thinking of you.

Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone!

Well I went to Walmart yesterday and bought a new scale, my old one was on the blink and when I put a new battery in it got worse so I went and picked out a new one. Got a WW one this time and it seems to be pretty stable... lets just hope that it is close to the ones at the place that we W/I :D

Ariana: I have a YMCA membership but I just don't seem to have the time to get there to use it enough to warrent paying for it every month... I kind of think that I would be better of getting rid of the membership and investing that money in a tread mill instead.. that way both my husband and I could use it along with my son if he wanted to... no one wants to make the trip to the Y it seems.

Mousie: Migraines just plain stink! Nothing much more you can say about them really... they really get in the way of life sometimes... I do way better when I can take my meds and stay in bed for the day but a lot of the time it is not possible to stay home. I sure hope you don't get them often and that they don't last a long time...

Hi to everyone else!

Have a happy day!

Sunny and supposed to get to 69 today!!!! That means a walk at lunch time :carrot:

Wow! It's so good to see this group so busy! I just thought I'd drop by on a whim, and here you all are! Words fail me. Judy, you are a CHAMPION. And look how close to Onederland you are!!!! So good to see Bandit and Mousie, too, and other folks I haven't met yet.

I haven't gotten myself under control except sporadically in such a long time, and it's really showing on my body. I guess that's why I haven't been back here. I don't know if I haven't been ready, or what's going on. But today was a better eating day than I've had in a long time, and I actually went for a bunch of walks yesterday. I think it's the spring weather, frankly.

I was out of work for a long time, too; no projects coming in. About a month ago, that changed, though I still haven't gotten paid. That contributed to the comfort eating, no doubt.

Well, I'm rambling here. I'm just so glad to see you all here.

Princess1122 03-31-2006 08:14 AM

Happy Friday!

Well it is raining cats and dogs here in Indy today and it is supposed to rain off and on for the entire weekend but we may get a few hours here and there with some sunshine... at least enought to get some walks in.
It is Final Four weekend here so the city is packed with visitors and basketball fans so I am going to stay out of the down town area to avoid the frustration of over crowded roads and venues.
My sister in law is coming to Indy this weekend for a visit so that will be nice.

W/I tomorrow... according to my new nifty scale I am down a pound or two but was hoping for a bit more since I have been off the meds for a few days but tomorrow will tell the real story, I just hope it has a happy ending :D

How is everyone doing today?

Have to run but will check back later on.

Princess
