new to WW...well, sorta'.

Hi everyone! I thought I would introduce myself because I am new and starting WW today. I can't quite afford to go to the meetings yet, but I do have all my books and counters (from the past times I had joined) and I hope to follow the plan at home. :carrot: I think I do better with the regular "points" system.

I just wanted to say hello to everyone and I look forward to being a member of this forum! I do well with a place to talk and these forums are amazing.

So, hello! :D

:wel3fc: I am also following the weight watchers plan at home w/o the meetings. My mom and dad had joined and quit a couple of times so they gave me their extra books and counters. It is a great plan!! I follow the regular points as well. Stick to it and if you ever need a little encouragement feel free to pm me!!! :goodluck: :cheer:

HI!! I went back to WW after almost a year and I have the older books, and the calculator (which I love!) The points havent changed in the new books, they are just updated food info? Is this correct or should I invest in new books??

Me too

Hey I am restarting WW today too, minus the meetings. I just don't have the time or the money, but I have to have some sort of accountabilty. Hopefully this will be that for me. I am too in love with food. Ive got all of my books and stuff froma previous WW run, and it works. I just lack will power. Well Im not really sure how this whole thing works, Im not too computer savvy, but I look forward to it.

Hi April!-- You sound like me~! I am going to hang out with the meetings...I think I do need them, I really don't have the extra money..so I am going to do them as long as I can! I had an awful "food" week. I am just strating to exercise (not a lot yet) I have a personal trainer appt tomorrow,...they give you 4 free with the ymca membership, so hopefully they can put me on a program that I can just follow. Its food for me...although theexercise can only help! But I absolutely love food! Like a sickness...but I am working towards a goal...and that's important.

The great thing about WW is that you can still eat the food you like, just not with wild abandon :D and you have to think about the tradeoffs...you may have a rich lunch (i.e. 11 points) and then you have to behave really well the rest of the day. Plan for your indulgences. I save most of my extra points for the weekend. (I actually don't track on the weekends, but I moderately consume the junk food I want. Whether or not that works for you depends on your self-control when it comes to junk food, and the amount of junk food in your home. I do not keep junk food at home, except for dark chocolate Hershey's Kisses (out of sight) and Slim-a-Bear bars (2 pts.))

As far as working out is concerned, one of the "tricks" I like to use is working out right after work, before you ever go home...the more you do it, the more it becomes routine. Even if you're tired, make yourself go. When you are truly too exhausted to workout (which should be unusual), you'll know. Working out on the way home makes it harder to "excuse yourself out of it" with reasons why you can't go today. Working out regularly, until it becomes habit, makes it easier to go in the first place.

Now, to be honest, I've had an awful food week because I've had to work 13/14 hour days M-W of this week (so no workouts, and fast food lunches, and late nights where I get horribly hungry and end up eating extra points), but I *know* I've misbehaved, and I will be back on track shortly. And that's key for everyone. Don't beat yourself up about small setbacks. Make plans for how to get around the problems next time; in other words, strategize for weight loss. For example, I know now that I should always keep an Amy's Pizza Pocket (6 pts) in the freezer here at work in case I get stuck here, so no more McDonalds. And if I think I will be stuck here late, I should bring more healthy snacks.

Anyway, that's my 2c (more like 25c!) :D I've lost 30 pounds and kept off 25 long-term...I stopped tracking and I stopped losing. It's amazing what tracking points can do for you.

Good luck ladies. I look forward to hearing from you and "talking" to you again!
