I think I'm about organized enough that I can take a day off. Isn't that awful to plan a sick day? I can't take off tomorrow because we are starting computers in the library for math practice. The volunteer that does them has been doing them for my classes for at least 6 years. I'd hate to miss seeing and talking to him. Maybe Wednesday will be a good day to sleep in. Next Thursday (22nd ) is Bob's b-day, so I think I might be sick then too.

Susan, get better!!

Tina 09-12-2005 09:42 PM

Hi--
Suisan, I'm so sorry you're still feeling lousy.
I hope you have some medicine for it.

I've done so good drinking water. I actually drank all 8 glasses today. I'm going to float away.

Hope everone else is okay.

Tina 09-13-2005 10:04 AM

Happy Tuesday,
It's another beautiful day. With lower humidity, the high heat isn't quite so bad.
Good news----I got my blood test results and my cholesterol is down to 202! :dizzy: :D My other numbers were also good.
Maureen, are you still have cold weather?
Erin, Jan, Andrea, Princess, how are y'all doing?
Tammy, I think it's a good idea to plan a sick day.
Susan, I hope you're feeling better.
Sis, I don't think I've ever been to a Polish restaurant. We've been to Czech ones.
Amy, how are you doing OP?
Mimi, is your weather cold like Maureen's?

Everyone drink your water!!!!!
:flow1:

Mimi4fun 09-13-2005 07:28 PM

Well it sure isn't cold here, we've had the air going for the last 3 days and it hit 34C today with high high humidity. Thats high 90's for y'all. I cooked 2 great recipes tonight a pumpkin soup and a chocolate cookie. Dan is putting in his first night at Arby's restaurant, no more dish washing for him. I have been doing really well for the last week and took off quite a bit of that summer indulgance weight off. Now I need to stick to it for the next few months. I am not planning any major splurges until Christmas (chocolate covered nuts!!!)

Hello everyone!

My kids were watching TechTV and found a great website that allows you to see how many miles your walking route is. All you do is put in your country and city, then find your neighborhood. The map can be a little tricky to use, just keep clicking on the arrows. I find if you use 'zoom 1' you can see the streets of your neighborhood. They use GoogleMap as their resource.
Gmap Pedometer

I have been very busy only able to read the posts, update my daily goals and food diary. DH is at a business meeting in Vancouver overnight, I've exercised already, dinner is in the Crock Pot and the boys and I have a library date after school. So for the next few hours I am free to play on the computer.

Mimi - I don't think we have had many days in the 30's in Edmonton this summer. I really like the heat but you can keep the humidity.

Tina - Congratulations on yuor blood test results. I really need to have mine checked. There doing a clinic at work I'll have to make an appointment.

Tammy - I hope you enjoy your Mental Health, I mean sick days next week.

Maureen - How is work going? Time always goes so fast when you are on vacation.

I hope everyone has an OP program.

Mimi4fun 09-14-2005 09:20 PM

Awsomw link thanks Jan. I just figured out that it is just over a mile for my son to walk to work. If I meet him halfway thats a mile walk for me too. ;)

winterstar 09-14-2005 11:05 PM

Mimi, I'm glad you liked it. I have really had some fun tracking new routes in my area. I just moved to this area two months ago so I'm still trying to figure my way around.

Hi again, all!

Thought this would be a good week, only to have GAINED. WAAH! However, is TOM so maybe......

Tina...I look hard to find recipes that aren't all that hard to find ingredients for in my area (central MN). I use the Internet A LOT, especially this time of year when the garden is spewing vegetables--how many ways are there to cook/use zucchini that DON'T use gallons of oil? (Answer: plenty!) Cooks.com is a good resource. Also, if you get WW email updates, they often have short, easy to make recipes. This past summer, there was the 10 Main Course salads that has a couple we've used numerous times, and then there was also 10 No-Cook Suppers that we've also loved. I think you can find them on the WW website--if not, let me know, I can try to send them to y'all.

Also, I totally LURVE the "Cooking Light" magazine, although a lot of their items can be high point-wise. But, if you figure 5-8 points for the main course and throw together a good NP salad, and that's not a bad meal with LOTS of taste. Of course, their recipes also tend to be a bit exotic at times (which is fine by me, but maybe not for every cook). I've spent literally YEARS reading cookbooks, magazines, and watching cooking shows, so I'm ready and willing to try just about anything and usually have pretty good results.

Last night, I made a White Bean and Black Olive soup that was TO-DIE-FOR!!! that was only 3 pts. It was a lot of work, but SOOO worth it!!! I'm drooling just thinking of it!

Also, the WW cookbooks are excellent, although there again, sometimes weird stuff in the recipes--or not easily accessible. The good news is, once you buy sesame oil or rice wine vinegar or other pantry items, they are virtually indestructible and you'll have them for awhile and be able to use them again, and soon enough that "weird grocery list" shrinks. ::shrugs::

Hope that helps!

::waves to everyone::

Well gang, I'm getting a few days of rest and relaxation. I haven't been to school since Tuesday. Had an incident at recess with a child who was very rebellious, hitting, kicking, mouthing off to me, and the list goes on. While I'm dealing with him, some kids run up to say another child is being choked by some kids. What a zoo. Anyway, I finally get this kid into the building and he's still throwing a fit. With my fingers I flipped him on the cheek to try to get him to be quiet and pay attention to me and his teacher. Well, the kid was suspended, and I am on paid Administrative Leave while the administration does an investigation. Oh boy.

There are 225+ kids out for this recess. Our playground is smaller this year because they took up part of it for parking. It is one royal mess. There are 4 adults out there, but it is wild. I thought I'd get to go back to school tomorrow, but I haven't heard from them yet.

I can't wait until I can retire.

By the way, if I did it right, my tracker moved in the right direction.
Oh, and please pray that things get straightened out so I can go back soon. I know the sub and she is a wonderful person with 2nd graders. I can't imagine how she is dealing with 27 4th graders.

auntie 09-15-2005 08:27 PM

Howdy,

It was a wild day for my girls. One was wild and once she calmed the other decided to start up. Never a dull moment. Oh and our a/c was not working so it was so humid and hot that it was like a sauna.

Tammy, I am so sorry. I can't believe they have you on leave. How come there wasn't an administrator out there? Oh right, he's an idiot...... Want us to come up there and set them straight? You know Tina and I will be there in a heart beat!

Tina, how are you doing my friend?

Mimi, Dan's working at Arby's. Tammy's Tim works there too. To bad they aren't in the same city!

I'm finally on the mend. I still don't feel perfect but much better. Now I have a cough and messed up nose....... Nothing I can't live with for a few days but it can go away anytime!!!!!! :)

Off to do a little school work, since I didn't get any done during the day.

Tina 09-15-2005 09:24 PM

Hi all,

Tammy---what a mess!!!! Why didn't one of the other teachers out there come to your aid??? I can't believe they still have you on leave. You are such a wonderful teacher. It's just not fair. You are definitely in my prayers.
Yes, Susan and I would love to come up there and set that bunch straight. They have no idea what happens when 2 Texas women get upset. :o
Hey, we could bring the whole Thursday Chatters group and have a sit-in.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.
Susan, you have a mess with your two girls. I'm hoping this weekend will give you time to get all well.
:flow1:

WDWErin 09-15-2005 10:31 PM

Tammy - Oh my goodness! Your situation is just NOT right. I hope this investigation is just 'red tape' type stuff, and it's over very soon. The quicker you're back to work, the better off those kids are. :c) I'm sorry this is happening to you.

winterstar - you've got it goin' on, girl!!!! :c)

Goddess - Hahahah!! "Lurve" - too funny!!! I lurve it :c) I'll be sayin' that all night, now! I'm sorry you gained - that stinks. I'm also TOM and only lost .2 (what's up with that?!??!??). I would LURVE your recipe for the white bean black olive soup. :c)

auntie - how can you stand no air?!?! That's just wrong!! I hope they get it fixed. I'm glad you're feeling better - it stinks to be sick, doesn't it?

I hope everyone is doing great - I'm a little sad about my .2 loss (that doesn't even move the tracker) but, other than that I'm ok. I finally finished painting my living room, and so now I'm doing the trim and the hallway. I can't wait for it to be done.
Trying to get the house refinanced - that's really not as "no hassle" as they say. Not alot else going on. School is going - OK - this week. No one really feels good in the house, so we might be a tad grouchy... :c)

Talk to you ladies, soon!

Tammy 09-16-2005 09:19 PM

Susan, I would love for all of you to come up here and take care of these people!! My teacher's association president has been in contact with a lawyer. He's supposed to call me on Monday. The president said he is a bear, and he didn't mean teddy bear. He also said that this lawyer would make mince meat out of the principal! I love it!! lol

Mimi, that's cool that Dan is at Arby's. Tim has worked there for 1.5 years. He likes it, but he gets worn out with his school activities and working sometimes.

The mother of one of my students called me this morning. She had heard about the incident from the boy's father. She said that the father is supporting me, but he didn't think that the principal was. Maybe the lawyer will convince him that he should. Anyway, I told the mom that I wasn't allowed to talk about it. She was planning to send messages to the principal and superintendent this morning. She also plans to get other parents involved. She was going to tell the prin.and supt. in the message that this isn't the kind of thing you want going on with a levy on the ballot in November.

If I would have known that I was going to be off this long, I could have gone to Disney World or some place.

Tina 09-16-2005 09:29 PM

Tammy, just give us the word and we'll be there.
Have you read any books this week? I know you like to read.

I did something today that I haven't done in 5 years-----I bid on something on Ebay. I won, too!!!!! :) I bought a hand painted Mary Engelbreit needlepoint canvas. I love her stuff but she isn't painting anything now. :(
I did good on my water today. The food was great until supper. We had Mexican and I ate the cheese enchilada. Hey, I'm only human.

Tammy 09-17-2005 11:26 AM

I've been going through some magazines that I hadn't had time to read. I started a book last night called "Best Friends" by Martha Moody. A friend had read it, loved it, and let me borrow it. It takes place at a college in Ohio in the 70's! I feel like I'm reliving my college days!!! lol

I have never done Ebay. My brother and SIL do all the time. I've never even been to that site. Maybe I should check it out sometime. I like the Mary E stuff too.
Mexican sounds yummy.

I'll be eating at the band contest later today. I am still allowed to chaperone even though I'm on leave. Go figure. I'm also allowed to go to a taping that the Academic Team is doing for a show in Dayton on Tuesday night. I guess I'm really not a threat to high school kids. lol

This is the first of 3 marching contests for the kids. The judges at this contest have been called "al quaida" judges. They are usually awful. I don't know why we keep going there. Last year out of the 20+ bands, only 1 of them qualified for the state marching contest. We're the 4th band today. We go in the class for the small bands. We have 44 kids. They sound and look great though, so I hope they qualify. This show is songs from the 70's. I'm loving it!!
