Smile Hi gals

I have my computer home again. As I was reading the posts I missed, I noticed that Maria has Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird...that is what my SIL put on my 'puter today. I hope I like it. The Norton kept on crashing my puter and the blue screen would say it was my anti-virus doing it. Right now I don't have any anti-virus on. He said I don't need it.... true? I am confused.... again. I was reading some of my e-mail and wanted to pass it on to several people, but could only do 1 addy at a time, must be some way of sending more. I will have to research that. So far, I haven't read the e-mail from any of you, will do that tomorrow.

I have not been feeling well at all. That root canal did me in. At first the specialist left the filling too high, and he did shave it down but the horrible pain continued. It took me until last night to recoginze that the procedure flared up my Fibromyalgia and that is why I have been in so much pain for such a long time. Pain killers do nothing for it. Unfortunately I didn't realize that sooner. I was taking Advil and that irratated my esophagous so bady I had to go to the emergency on Saturday. They had to make sure it wsn't my heart giving me all the pain.

The good news is we got to baby sit 2 whole days in a row. On Sunday DD & SIL went golfing in a tournament and today my DD had to go on a course. She is usually home on Mon & Tue and doesn't have the babysitter for those days. We got lucky. We are tired, but had so much fun with that little .

I read the posts, got you all caught up on my life and now I am going to call it a day. Because of all the pain I haven't been sleeping well and maybe tonight I will be able to get a decent night's rest.

'Night all... (See you tomorrow Slavika)...

Today is the first day I have had a chance to post since getting back from our angel. Makenzie was just a dream for the 5 days. She only had one night of being restless in her sleep and called out Mama a couple of times. She is so darned sweet and talks like a grownup. She says things like, "Grandma, I love you soooooo much!" and "Grandma, I will miss you!" This last after she realized Mom would be home the next day and I would leave. She also dreamed about Pop and the puppy.

But let me tell you, girls, that first night in my own bed was heaven. I had been sleeping with her and DH was by himself. So, of course, I did not sleep "well." So much fun! Do you think little girls already talk about "feelings", like grownup women? Are they just different from little boys? I, at least, have not had such conversations with my grandsons at this young age.

Lily, that is the best news ever about your hubby. It is always best to have a position with a company and never miss a paycheck. The bonus sounds wonderful too.

Trudy, I am so sorry you are having such a time with pain. I did not know the fibromyalgia was such a problem with pain pills. I knew you had GERD too. Getting older is just walking on eggshells all the time.

Slavika, being isolated is going to be tough, but what a great cause! Maybe it won't be as bad for your hubby. Sometimes men can enjoy isolation. My hubby has been known to "isolate" himself in a crowd of people. Can he have technology? phones? computer? This helps somewhat. Those grandchildren are going to have it bad because they are so crazy about Papa.

Maria, the drought sounds awful. Do you have a rainy season? We have water rationing a lot in the summer in Oklahoma. My hometown is always on rationing which makes it very difficult to attract any industry because people want a pretty lawn. It seems the bad weather we all have in different areas of the country that we dread is the source of the water we all need. I heard that without the hurricane season Florida would be in a bad way and without our tornado season we would be in a serious drought. Well, another Glenda ramble. I will stop! Maria, if you find the Baby Einstein tapes your little one will love them. They are very graphic and little eyes are attracted to them. I like them too.

Peggy, when we were at my son's with Makenzie, my DIL's biological mom came by. My DIL just found her a year ago and she is very, very nice. Right now, I am battling a little of the green-eyed monster. Makenzie calls her "MiMi." My gosh, no one can have too much love, right? So, why am I having a problem with this new woman coming in? I am so ashamed of myself. I have to get my mind right on this one. The poor woman missed out on raising her daughter because of family influences. She can at least enjoy her granddaughter.

Well, now that I have rambled on and on and on...
Glenda

Hi,

Finally had to turn the ac on. It is like 90 with high humidity.

Glenda what fun you had with your grandbaby. I am glad that you enjoyed it so much. Yea, it is hard to share babies when the other side of the family is around. Our poor little guy was passed around way too much Sunday. I know my dil's family sees him a little more. Girls tend to gravitate more to their parents than boys do-at least from my observations with my friends and their daughters. Teach me to have boys. LOL And there is nothing better than getting home and sleeping in your own bed.

Trudy I didn't realize that your fibro would flare up from your root canal. Sorry to hear that you had to spend some time in the ER. You have been having more than your share of stuff.

Slavika loved the email about being tired. I sort of felt that way last night. We were helping someone move. I thought she had most of it moved but guess what-she is so totally unorganized that there was so much stuff left all over the old house. It was hot-no ac. We took a few loads over to the new house and it was a total disaster. You couldn't walk through-she has soooooooo much stuff. I have no idea where she is going to put all this. I guess I don't understand how people can accumulate so much stuff. We were in the attic putting stuff away. I moved a big candle on a wood thing. She told me that the candle was 37years old. Now why would anyone want it plus it was so hot up there it will probably melt.

I am going to a dinner tonight for a group that I belong to. We see each other only a few times a year. Tomorrow night is our wicked women night. I hope it doesn't rain cause we are going to sit on the patio.

G'day all,

Glenda Great to hear how much you enjoyed looking after little Makenzie.
The climate in my hometown Adelaide is described as 'mediteranean', Sydney is described as 'sub-tropical'. This is a site that gives information of the climate range in Australia, you may find it interesting http://www.australian-education.com/la_body.htm
The state of South Australia, Adelaide being its capital, is known as the driest state and in summer we can go most of summer without rain. Hence our state looks pretty awful in summer with the country side being very dry and brown. Sydney however having the sub tropical climate, the country side always looks very lush but now everything it brown and dry
I think the whole world seems to experience unusual weather patterns, all a bit scary.
By the way I always enjoy your so-called 'ramblings'

Peggy thank you, thank you! I am with you, I hate having babies handed around like a parcel to everyone, even more so when it is MY grand daughter My d-i-l's family are lovely people, they have a very large close extended family and cannot see anything wrong with a baby being handed around for everyone to enjoy. As lovely as they are, I am always having to hold my tongue, her father is very chauvenistic and her mother just accepts that Both are very kind hearted and I guess that is just how they are, I am just a firm believer in EQUALITY between the sexes.
I did say to him once that if I was married to him, it wouldn't last five minutes, he replied 'try one minute Maria'
There was a large article in the paper about d-i-l's desire to be selected in the Australian netball team for the Commonwealth Games. She trained throughout her pregnancy and started training again 2 weeks after her birth.
There was a photo accompaning the article with the team manager feeding Matilda whilst her Mum was training. Usually our ds looks after her but he has football training sometimes on the same nights.
I have to say all this really bothers me, I have never played sport and perhaps that is why I cannot relate to any of this.
D-i-l's Mum applied for tickets to attend the netball games (assuming d-i-l will be selected) at the Commonwealth Games. She has received a letter to say she missed out. The games are not until next March and all the tickets for the netball games have gone I have told ds that I would be happy to stay in Adelaide and look after Matilda for the 10 days whilst the Games are on. He thanked me and said it would be something they would think about.
Talk about rambling.....I have really gone on but I do feel so strongly about this.
I personally think when you decide to have a child that should be your number one focus and everything else has to fit in around it, not the other way around.

I hope you had fun at your 'wicked' women night!

Trudy I hope you are starting to feel a bit better. It is so true what Glenda said about this getting older thing....at times it is just not fun

14 days to go.......

Cheers
Maria

yesterday was a very long day. Dh had to be at the hospital at 7:30 am so we were up at 6:00. He was taken into surgery at about 10:00. At 1:00 The doctor came out and talked to me. They were able to successfly do the ablation on one of the pathways. But when it came to the other it was in the center between the upper and the lower chambers of the heart. Had they tried to do the ablation there was a high risk of disconnecting the upper and lower chambers of the the heart. Not a good thing. So the doctors had to stop the ablation. He told me that we would have try the medication to keep the arrhythmia in check. So we will be trying different medications. The only problem I can see with that is the medication also lowers the bloodpressure. His is already lower than most teenagers. So it is a wait and see situation. The main thing we need to remember is the arrhythmia is not life treatening it is more of a nuisance. Dh is very dissapointed. And depressed that he has gone through this and then not to beable to have it work. So I have my work cut out for me. Must try and cheer him up. He should be getting out of the hospital today. Have to go call and see what is what.

Karen how disappointing for both of you to have to go throught all of that and not have it work. I hope that the medications work out and not cause any more problems. On a happier side I ran across this free pattern for a Santa chair. How cute it would be in small size for a kid. Now I am on the lookout for an old chair to do this on. http://editors.myfree.com/editors/ht...rsproject.html

Maria go ahead and ramble any time you want. Kids do things so differently nowadays that it is hard to bite your tongue sometimes. Your dil has to be in great shape to be back in training already. Isn't there a whale problem somewhere in Australia also? Being beached or something?

Have a great day everyone.

G'day all,

Peggy you are so right, a number of whales beached themselves on the Western Australia coast. Volunteers were able to get them all back in the water except for one.

Karen sorry to hear the procedure for your dh did not quite go the way it was expected. Hope all will be well soon and he will cheer up.

I am FED UP!!
I have decided to take the train to the Bue Mountains today, it is about a 2 1/2 hour train ride. I have my camera all charged up and I am OFF!
Now that I am a 'senior', public transport is very reasonable so I might as well take advantage of it and feel I have done something more than sit behind my computer for 14 hours!

Cheers
Maria

After all my moaning about the rainy and cold weather we had in May we have turned the corner.....90's today. I will not complain as, although the heat makes me tired, I do love Summer better than cold, snowy weather.

Although we don't have central AC we do have a large Air Conditioner in the dining room window and if I close up the other windows down stairs it will cool off the first floor. Have a small one for upstairs and I close off all but our room so it works well.

Peggy: Loved that Santa chair. I wish I were as crafty as you Even in a full size chair it would look good by the fireplace with an empty sack as if 'himself' had just left.

Glenda: Glad you had such a good time with your grandbaby. Yes, young people are so much more relaxed about newborns than we were. It might be a good thing if they do not go overboard.

Trudy: Just having a root canal can be tough enough without the extra pain and agravation of fibro. Hope everything is quieting down for you.

Karen: Sorry to here DH was not able to complete the ablation. Hope they will be able to find a med that will help without lowering BP too much.

Maria: The US also has varied climates bu we don't have the sub tropical that you have unless you count Hawaii. Have a great time on your excursion on the train to the Bue Mountains....I'll bet we get to see some great pics when you return.

Since DH is retired Air Force we went to the local base for Commissary & BX shopping yesterday. That is about a hour each way and then the shopping and when we get home it is unpacking and putting away. We go about every 6 weeks and I love to go but it gets to be such a chore....besides every other 'old' retiree had the same idea. There were an awful lot of them yesterday.

Have a great day!
Gloria

Gloria, Didn't realize that you are Ret Military. We are too. My DH was Army. And yor right I love to go to the commissary but the unpacking when we get home is for the birds. At least we only have about 45 minutes one way.

DH is home but feeling not so good yet. He is still very swollen in the neck area. Looks like a bad case of mumps so he is holding ice packs on it even now and again. He is glad to be home and I am glad to have him here. Poor Sprout was a lost sole with out his "daddy" around.

Maria hope you had a good time.

Peggy The chair is great. Thanks for sending me those painting site. Have found a couple of things I want to do.

Well i'm tired again tonight so am going to go make some decaf and relax. If there is nothing on the tub then i will paint.

Hi Everyone:
Karen: So sorry that you had a disappointment with the treatment. I'm sure DH is a bit on the depressed side, but once he is feeling better and less mumpy maybe he'll snap around.

Maria: Hope your blue Mountain trip is a happy time for you and we'll be looking for pictures.

Trudy: so sorry that you have been having such a bad time. I can identify with the chest pain that makes you think you are having a heart attack. Those esophageal spasms can be awful. Hope you are doing better now, and have been able to get some rest.

Glenda: Sounds like you had a great time. I think that girls do chat more at an earlier age than boys. It takes boys a while to catch up, I think.

I too agree that somehow it doesn't seem like such a great idea to be passing a new baby around like a sack of potatoes. But I guess there is that old 'generational gap' that our parents experienced dealing with us. Sometimes it is hard to remember that we are now the 'older generation'.

Slavika: I loved the 'too tired' pics. Made me laugh right out loud. We need some good laughs like that. Hope all is well with you.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in. I'm hoping I have done okay. I'll let you know if it is a thumbs up or down. Hi Peggy, Gloria, Lily. "See" you all tomorrow. Ann

Just a quick Hi and to say I was down .8. All I can say is that at least I'm going down. Have you ever heard that if you exercise before you weigh in, that you will weigh more? A friend told me that today, and I wondered, since I walked my mile and a half this a.m. before going to WW. Hope all is well with everyone. Karen do you have an answer for that one?

I am anxiously waiting for our crepe myrtle tree to bloom. It is covered with buds on the tips of most of the branches. I think it will be beautiful. It is hard to believe that it just looked like a dead stick when we planted it.

We have had buckets of rain today. We have turned off our lawn sprinklers since it has rained so much. You can almost see the grass grow. I sure hope we have some sun tomorrow. 'See' you later. Ann

G'day all,

The end of the day for me, just waiting for dh to come home and have dinner.

Ann well done a further loss! I haven't heard that about excercise and weighing heavier other than of course muscle will weigh heavier then fat.
I love crepe myrtles, I think nature is quite wondrous when you watch all the buds and then all of a sudden the tree is in full bloom.

Karen I bet your dh is pleased to be home, I hope being home will soon have him feeling a lot better.

Gloria why do you go shopping such a long way away Is this where ex-forces people do their shopping because of better prices?

My little sojourn to the Blue Mountains was fine but I did not quite realise how long it took by train etc. All in all I travelled for almost 6 hours . I did a bit of a walk when I got there and then it was almost time to return again. I took some nice shots. Another day closer to going home......
Talking of home, Adelaide had very heavy rain today the first decent rain for some months. Unfortunately it did not fall where the farmers want it but my garden would have loved it!
We have a long weekend, not sure what we will do. The forecast is for rain here as well which of course is great but will restrict us somewhat.
I did some more packing today....

All the news is about Russell Crowe, I am not a fan, I just think he is a foul tempered jerk. Maybe this will wake him up.
Of course it is also about the up coming verdict for Michael Jackson.
I think so many 'stars' are a bit (or a lot!)weird, give me the likes of Paul Newman and Richard Gere.
Sad to hear about the passing of Ann Bancroft.

Have a great weekend all,

Cheers
Maria

Maria: We shop at the Base about every 6 weeks. Although you have to know the prices as some are not as low as local prices, most items especially taxable items are cheaper and there is no tax at a Military Instillation. They have a very good meat department and I usually stock up on these items. During the last few months a number of bases have been up for closing and we were sure that ours would be on that list, however, we were lucky and they did not close this one. It is a very large base and the only one anywhere near us with a Commissary and BX (bx is base exchange, the equivilant of a department store)
You also asked why I was not having surgery on my eyes for Glaucoma....it is Cataracts that require surgery most often.
I am glad that you have had some rain....at least on your home garden.

Ann: I just heard the latest forcast and you people in Florida are due for and are probable getting right now, a rain storm. I hope it does not mean the start of another awful Hurricane season for you.

Peggy, Glenda, Trudy, Slavika, Karen, et al. Hope you all have a great week end. Summer is really here.

I have been mia for several weeks, but have read posts quickly hit and miss. I have been terribly off program - birthday celebrations and other excuses. I'm going to a lunch for General Tsos tomorrow with a friend and will then get back on the daily exercise and diet routine. I guess we all have to take a break occasionally.
Speaking of the weather in Florida, my oldest son left today for a yearly golf trip that he and several old fraternity brothers take. They play as many Robert Trent(?) courses in Florida in a week as they can. I asked him how he planned to play golf if the people in Florida are packing up for hurricanes or tropical storms. He said if it rains their they will head to Alabama or Mississipi. Oh to be young again. (I guess!)
Everyone have a great weekend and send positive thoughts that I will be back on track Mon. I am really ready to diet again. Too much indulgence doesn't make me feel well!

I looks as though the really bad weather will miss us. But like Ann I am tired of rain.

Made a trip to DH's doctor to make sure he is healing like he should. He is still very swollen in his neck and throat area. Not to mention he is Black and blue and green and purple. He look as if some one has really beat him up. Any way doctor said the bruising will take about 3 weeks to go away. The swelling will go down as the bruises move down on to his chest area. Gravity will cause that to happen. He is feeling better and his sense of humor is slowly returning. We made a trip to Wal-Mart for a few things and that seem to help his mood a bit.

So we go into the weekend in the rain. I sure hope there is some breaks so I can take poor little Sprout out for some walks. he really misses it. and so do I. I've been tempted to just go with an umbrella and may do that tomorrow. He likes to walk in the puddles but not get too wet. Doesn't like wet grass at all. He takes after me that way I guess.

Ann you asked how we like just being two and it has been great. We can watch a TV show with out a running commentary through the whole thing. That is wonderful.

Well I'm tired so it's off to bed. Have a great weekend all
