MY DINOSAUR COMPUTER COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH 72 ANY LONGER! LOL

CAB 02-25-2001 11:01 PM

Hi all,

Sorry to move over so quickly but my computer wasn't scrolling on the last thread.

Anyway - So my meeting on wed was ok - i don't like this leader but i knew that going in. i can drive 30 minutes to the center once in a while on weekends if i need to speak with someone else. meenwhiule i'm just using it to weigh in consistantly.

Weigh in was a shock. I'm 2 lbs lighter than the day i walked into the hospital to give birth!! So that gave me new resolve. I'm about 5 lbs heavier than when I joined after having my second child - but Iwasn't nursing anymore then. So, I could very well have 5lbs worth of breasts! Anyway, I can't believe how much extra food I can have while nursing - 10 extra points per day!! And trust me, I've needed them. I should only lose like 1 lb per week though, they say that's healthier while nursing.

So, I've been op since Thursday, and it hasn't been too bad. I forgot what it was like to be hungry but I'm certainly making better choices on snacks and such. No more junk. Lots of fruits and veggies. I'm measuring everything just to get back into real portions. So far so good - each day it is a little easier.

Sounds like everyone is doing well -

Lynn - Happy Anniversary! Do you have big plans for next year??

Theresa & Cindy - hope y'all are having a great time!! And yes cindy, exercise is key for me too. I've started walking again daily, and now I have to add other activities as time permits.

robin - good luck with th WW at home - I think the journal is the most important. Remember not to weigh yourself every day. I'll fill you in on meeting topics if you think it will help. Potty training already??? Jeez it seems like yesterday that you announced you were pregnant. Time does fly - I cant believe my oldest is 9. Emmett is 5 1/2 months already!! It's harder when you know it's your last...

Ellie - setting small goals is very smart - it is very motivating to be successful - keep hitting those small goals and before you know it you'll be buying new cloths in a smaller size! Hang in there!

Jill - regarding the pictures - viv posted a picture of her and her son a year or two ago and I sent out a picture of me with my family with Christmas Cards in 1998 (jeez have we been up that long?) Also, I think one of the baby pictures of Emmett that viv e-mailed around had me in it. Send me your e-mail addy, I'll send you the pics. My e-mail is [email protected].

viv - 6 lbs already? Excellent. I've tried to encorporate a lot of the sb foods into my daily intake but it is hard while i'm nursing because i can't have sugar substitutes (nutrasweet or anything) so things like sugar free yogurt or hot choc are out. I do eat lots of whole wheat/whole grain foods - bread, cereal, brown rice, etc. and try to pay attention to sugar grams. Yesterday my daughter's basketball team lost in the playoffs, so we took the girls out for icecream at this super fabulous old fashioned ice cream parlor - and you all know my weekness for ice cream. Well, i'm happy to say that i had a tall glass of seltzer and wasn't even that tempted (even though all the adults had sundaes too!) Big step for me. Sugar cravings go away i think after a certain amount of time without. lucky for me.

Well - Emmett is trying to type for me - or eat the keyboard or something. time to run. have a good sunday.

Hi there :)
Cheryl, good luck with WW! I sent you my e-mail.
It IS COLD here today! 28 below F
Should get better within a couple of days.

I had a good visit with my best friend over the weekend. She came out here to the farm.(she lives in the city; 2 hrs. away)

My son is gone for driver training into the city. He is a FARM boy, remember...........so I'm fairly nervous. I hope he does ok. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif

Robin - you are gawgeous, girl!! Thanks for sending me the pictures!

I'm determined to get in some good losses here. Spring (and getting rid of a layer of clothes) is coming too soon!!

Have a good day! :)

Robin2 02-27-2001 10:15 PM

where is everybody?????

cindy, theresa - did ya'll get carried off in a parade?

cab - i am sure you will have that weight off in no time. is emmett starting to crawl yet? i can't believe he is almost 6 mos old.

jill - why thank you...i think viv thought i was a blonde before she saw my picture...driving!!! i don't even want to think about it...that is going to make me so nervous.

oh well, i took evan to the dr. yesterday..he had been running a fever over the weekend and just wasn't looking good..he has a double ear infection and a bad cold..the only symptons he had was a low fever and a clear runny nose..who would've thought my poor baby was so sick. i can already tell he feels much better today, he was able to sleep with all the meds the dr. gave him..he got up at 9:15!!!! so, of course i slept in..it is rainy, rainy here today and charlie is still asleep!! at 10:00...no, he is not sick, just lazy :) i wish he would nap occassionally, he is obviously tired.

i think evan might want to eat something now..better go

bye..robin

Hey Ladies...

Just wanted to post quickly to say....
1. DH is a butthead this week
2. We saw the ILs again after 3.5 years. need I say more?

Anyway, it seems I am down 7 lbs at the moment after a weekend away where I learned that I CAN do this WOE awayfrom home. That gave me more hope that when I am at Disney I won't mess up too badly!

CAB - Congrats on the weigh in. That's wonderful. It's totally true that the cravings go away once you "DeTox" I am amazed at my resolve. One of the SB gals send me 5 bars of SB legal chocolate - I tasted a corner, then tossed it in the freezer! Just for TOM. I DON"T eat sugar free yogurt or hot chocolate - I am trying to cut back on the artificial sweetneres, plus I think the sugar free yogurts actually list sugar content on the back - so I take some plain yogurt, add a bit of fruit spread an a tiny bit of splenda and some oat bran for fiber. Also for hot chocolate, the Nestle Carnation No Sugar Added is sooooo good and so much better than the sugar free stuff. I do think it has aspartame - an the sugar grams listed are from lactose, that's legal - after all those years of drinking the SF stuff - wow. What a treat. Also drinking a lot of non-decaf green tea which supposedly speeds the metab. There are some more great foods I've found that are easy to incorporate - send me an email if you want me to send you a list. :)

Jill -how's your son doing on the bike? Has he been back on? It's hard, you want them to start good habits NOW, right....

Theresa and Cindy - ok, are you hungover? Stay away from those beignets!!!

Back to the coal mines. And my pity party http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif

Viv....
7 pounds down, 11 to go!

Bonz80 03-01-2001 08:17 PM

Good Morning,

Mardi Gras is OFFICIALLY over, and I needed a day of rest and catching up on errands---so here I am

Theresa and I had a blast, my cousin and his wife came in from New Jersey, my kids and husband were here too, we spend friday in new orleans, Theresa got carried away with shopping, went down to Burbon St---got an eye full there--- ;) had Benigents, and by the time she bored the plane, she had eaten, crawfish, fried soft shell crabs, gumbo, fried crawfish, fried fish, had a bloodymary or two, wine, pina cola, and heavens knows what else. We did alot in the short time she was here, and she left with a suitcase full of beads!

Robin-its not that far-fetched for everyone to plan a trip down south next year for Mardi Gras----it falls on Feb. 12th next year

Cab-sounds like you are doing great with your weight lost efforts, now that Mardi Gras is over, I can get back to my gym and walking routine

Farmbabe-how did your son do at drivers ed?

Viv-seems like SB is working for you, keep up the good work

OK----several of you have asked for pictures, and I am willing to send em, but I need your e-mail address-----so here is what you need to do if you want a picture----send me a PM with your address, I will send it out as a group------OK? send address by tonight! thanks

cindy

Bonz80 03-01-2001 08:20 PM

Morning!

Well I guess that's what it is???

Barry is sick again. Tried to get him into the ENT yesterday and he was in surgery all day. Got him in at 8:30 this morning. He's back on Zithromax and an inhaler. He thinks if he opens up he will stop coughing. Said if I got it to him he would be able to go to school today. NOT!!! Poor kid is so worn out from coughing (and is still coughing) that there was no way I could send him in. So he's home again today. If the cough doesn't let up by later today, I'll probably call the ENT back and say "what now"?

Anyway, Cindy SEND ON THE PICS!!!! Glad you had a good time together. Wish I was there!

Viv - Did I send you the cartoon that DH sent me about saying the wrong thing??? If not let me know and I'll describe it to you. Fits the bill of what you said.

CAB - glad to hear from you and glad that things are goin well, take care

Well I did it, I got the Richard Simmons program and am reading through it and starting it. Wish me well. I'm trying again.

Talk to you all later. Have a great day!

Lynn

Robin2 03-01-2001 09:40 PM

well hello cindy...was getting worried about you and theresa, i am sure it took a couple of days to re-cooperate after all that partying :)!!! can't wait to see the pictures.

Where has everybody been???????

Viv - do you leave this weekend for disney?? is dh still being a butt?? and sorry to hear it wasn't a joyous reunion with your inlaws.
congrats on the 7 lb loss...

okay, i have tried to stay op this week and i have even exercised, well, i weighed this morning and gained 2 lbs!!! i did slip a little, but i sure didn't think 2lbs worth! dieting sucks...

theresa - how did you like the crawfish?? yummy wasn't it, i love it fried and is okay boiled if it is in a sauce...and beignets....yum yum....you need to check in with us and fill us in on your trip.

gotta run...robin

Bonz80 03-01-2001 11:35 PM

HI,

Lynn--Poor Barry! Good luck with Richard Simmons!

Robin-it does take a few days to recoop from all the running around you do during Mardi Gras

Theresa-its time for you to come tell everyone what a great time you had!!!!! :)

later
cindy

linn 03-02-2001 12:17 AM

Hi everyone--
Cindy - sounds like you & theresa had a great time. If you need more e-mail addresses, you can get almost all of them from the top of one of Lynn's e-mails.
Viv -- how's DH --is it still quiet at your house? Have fun in NYC.
Theresa -- how'd DH do w/3 kids for a few days? It would be chaos around here.
Lynn -- enough already -- when will everyone be healed & healthy. good luck.
Robin -- I'm with you. I am a good example of that adage that goes something like if you're almost OP, you'll almost have a loss. I've lost the same 3-4 pounds countless times. I did get back on the bike & treadmill today. Plus I started a weekly yoga class. And I cut out sugar. For lent I conveniently gave up cookies, candy, cake, ice cream etc. It's not perfect SB, but it couldn't hurt.
Hi to all

viv 03-02-2001 01:20 AM

Hey Guys -
DH was literally on his knees last nite so we are making progres....

We leave for disney in 21 days and 23 1/2 hours, but who's counting....

SB is so easy. I cannot believe how easy. I am really hoping to lose another 5 lbs by our trip...I don't know if I can but I'm workinig on it!

More over the weekend. The day just got by me...LYnn I'll check for that cartoon - thanks :)
Viv

Robin2 03-02-2001 05:10 AM

well, i managed to get in a 45 min. walk and a shower before evan got up from his nap today....

linn - i know whatcha mean about that same 4-5 lbs...i do that too.

viv - i don't think i could give up sugar, i really, really, really like it. but i do notice when i eat something salty, i crave something sweet and vice-versa ..it's a vicious cycle. good luck on losing before your trip, i bet you can do it.

i think that was all, just had to report that i actually exercised today.

later all..robin

Amato 03-02-2001 06:46 AM

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry to have ignored you all this week.

Cindy about wore me out last weekend! LOL but I had the time of my life! and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! my dh is such a sweetie for letting me leave. He actually did great with the kids. I came home to a fairly clean house and ALL the laundry was caught up, even sheets and towels!

Mardi Gras sure gets a bad rap in the news, cause it's really a lot of fun. you just have to know where to be. The places where we watched the parades were all families with kids. I didn't see one person dropping their pants or raising their shirt. The first day I got in Cindy took me over to Bourbon Street---now that's the place to get your eyes FULL! :o LOL we stayed about 20 minutes and left. We shopped for hours at the French Market! :) I spent a ton! LOL

The first parade Cindy and I caught two plastic grocery bags FULL. I came home with my carry on suitcase FULL of beads. I bet I didn't bring 1/3 of the beads home I caught.
you should have seen my kids eyes when I dumped them out on the floor! LOL was cute!

Cindy and her family showed me true Southern Hospitality! her 17 yr old son gave up his room for 3 nights! I felt like one of the family. thanks Cindy! :)

We leave for Disney Sat!!! I'm just now getting back into my routine and getting my energy back! LOL DH and I have reservations at Victoria and Alberts next Thurs night. Character breakfast ?? not sure which morning, think Weds and we're doing the Luau. one of my friends from nursing school lives down there so we'll meet up with her and her family next weekend. haven't seen her in years -- we were close in nursing school....that sure seems like a life time ago!

well I've ramble on and on. so better go before dh drinks all the wine! LOL we're taking the lap top to Disney so I'll do my best to keep up with you all! :)

Theresa

linn 03-02-2001 09:00 PM

hi everyone --
Theresa -- WOW -- what a DH you have !! You also must be pretty together. I don't think I could have gotten away for a few days and been all set to leave for Disney a few days later. It sounds like you had a great time. When are you going to make a trip to New York? Viv, CAB etc could all go to a show etc. I'm looking forward to the pictures
