Wow - I was in appointments all morning and I missed the hopping thread. I've thought about the south beachy thing but I'm not ready for that yet. You guys all sound like you're doing great though. I love how WW allows for incorporation of other methods.

Ali - Enjoy the play!
Becky - way to identify your challenges! How about your plan to deal with the challenges? No pudge brownies perhaps...?
Tonya - Muffins are evil breakfasts - yummy and portable, but evil. (Of course I would need a REALLY big one) - Let us know how SBD works out for you.
Belle - I can't believe you're moving so soon - it seems like yesterday that you bought the condo! as for company for your puppy, what about a kitten? I suggest that because with the move and the wedding and everything coming up, it will be hard to train a puppy (or even an older dog from the pound) but kittens kind of train themselves and your dog could take on a "mothering" type role. It might be hard on your puppy if you got a new dog. You also might want to look at how she is around other dogs. Would SHE want a new dog in her life? Just my 2 cents.
Lori - you running machine!! Sounds like the 10k will be fine - let us know how it goes!!

Alright, back to it. Oh I forgot - someone asked yesterday where I'm going - to Virginia to visit with my sister and her 7 month old triplets. I'm excited.

Sorry that I am just getting back to you guys on some of the questions but I have had clients all afternoon. There is a list of foods to enjoy and avoid on this website under The south beach diet. It will tell you what is acceptable on phase 1 and then 2. It was what I followed and as long as I didn't stray I have been fine.

Phase 2 I am gradually adding in whole wheat products (NOT ENRICHED) and fruit. I am doing one of each at this point, which is suggested in the book and then I will add more (up to 3 of each) when I cann successfully do so and still lose. They just don't want you to shock your system. Right now I am just having Fiber 1 Cereal with splenda for bkfst and having fruit in the afternoon.

Belle~ As far as good carbs it is the HIGH fiber stuff and again this would be on that list. There are even some fruits that they advise you to eat sparingly due to sugar. I will attempt to add the link. BTW you have so much going on. You will love bein in your own place. DH and I are blissfully happy with ours :D

Tonya~ As far as caffeine it is recommended that you have 1 cup/day b/c it can lead to cravings for some people. So far I am not one of those people but I stear clear of the caffeine anyways. I just have it periodically.

I love this b/c I am a sweets and breads nut. I never thought that this could work for me but I really don't crave bread at all and when I do want sweets I go for my SBD friendly ones. Let me know what you decide and I will be right back and add that link.

Good Afternoon!

Hello, everyone! I took a big step in winning the weight loss battle last night. I was out of points for the day and although I wasn't actually hungry, I wanted something more to eat. I managed to tell myself "no". That's a major step, since I haven't bothered doing that for myself in a really long time. Now, if I can continue doing that, we'll be in business. And if I learn someday how to tell other people "no thanks", I'll really be successful.

Speaking of success, sometimes we forget how far we've come. I was berating myself for eating two Subway cookies, instead of congratulating myself for keeping 25 lbs off for nearly three years. That's really a shame...

Anyway, enough about that. Not much planned here for me this weekend--do you guys have anything going on? Tonight, I have to work 6-10:30 at Subway. District soccer tournaments are in my town and we're going to be slammed all night, I think. Ick. Tomorrow, my friend Brandi and I are going to do something. I'm not sure what. We do a lot of shopping and sometimes we go to a bar or something, but I'm always feeling like she's bored. She's coming over kind of early in the afternoon, which would normally mean that we'd go out to dinner or something, but I'm going to see if she'd like to grill a steak or some chicken breasts with a veggie. After that, I might see if she wants to rent a movie and eat some SmartPop. Not a very fun night, but I don't really like the bars and am out of money (since we shopped all weekend last weekend). :s: And I really want to be careful with my eating after having a good day yesterday (and today).

Ali--I didn't see the Friends finale. I'm going to have to ask someone what happened--I'd ask you, but someone might be reading the thread who hasn't seen it yet and their surprise might get spoiled. It sounds like you're doing really well on SBD. I'm glad to hear it. And I have to tell you, it is such a relief to me to know that you--who has accomplished what seems like the impossible--are human, too, and struggle sometimes. Thank you for sharing that thread with us--so many people who have made it so far struggle with the same things as the rest of us. It makes me realize my struggle is normal and that I can succeed in spite of it. That said, I hope that BF doesn't have too much trouble with Mother's Day this weekend. It's hard to believe, but holidays without someone get easier each year.

Becky--Glad to hear that you're also doing well on SBD. I didn't last very long on it--I need to have that structure of only being able to have so much of things, or I start eating too much, and then eating things I shouldn't, and so on. It's not a pretty sight.

Tonya--If you're considering SBD, I wouldn't buy the book. I thought it was kind of a waste, with the exception of the recipes. You can get a list of Phase I OK'd foods on the SBD FAQ thread here on 3FC. (Listen to me spouting off all those letters!!) That helped me more than the SBD book. As far as foods that are good "to go", during Phase I, I'd bring two things of string cheese and a diet soda for breakfast if I dind't have time to whip up a couple eggs with turkey bacon. I'd have peanuts for a snack and a big salad for lunch. Lean meat of some kind with veggies for dinner. A SF fudgesicle for a snack later in the evening. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work well for my lifestyle--it's hard with two jobs and a bunch of other stuff going on. I can eat just about anywhere and choose something WW-friendly. Phase I seemed to be all about prep time for me.

Belle--I found SBD to be very expensive for me, too. When doing WW, I get plenty of veggies, but rarely purchase meats. When I did SBD, I bought enough meat (chicken and eye of round, mostly) to get me through a week and it was at least $100 a week, which is what I'd spend in a month before. I guess it kind of depends on what you're buying now and how it contrasts with what you'll be buying for SBD. That's great that you'll be moving so soon!! As far as the dog dilemma, I'm not sure what to tell you. I wish I could offer some advice.

Lori--Hello! Good to see you, let us know how your 10k goes!

KT-I'm back to doing WW, too. We might be the only ones left doing it. I'm OK with it, as long as everyone keeps posting here. If you SBD-ers leave, it'll be lonely. :) When do you leave on your trip? Are you getting a little excited yet?

OK, I'm going to try to get a little work done before my day is over, so I better get to it. I'll pop back in later, if I can.
