  • Welcome to the Chatters for all who post on the Thursday Weigh In Thread--or anyone just passing by. We used to all weigh on Thursdays. That's not the case now. We're a lot of fun. Come join us!!!

I think I'm getting the hang of this new server. I do have a question----what does it mean to post a poll? Do you ask a question? Who is supposed to answer???

This weekend, I'm going to be soooo good. I was sooo good today. Okay, back to the weekend. I don't have to worry about selling Mother's home since it's done. Work is going well. It's not supposed to rain tomorrow. And, we're going to finally work on our sunroom ceiling. It's needed repairing for years. Tomorrow we will actually start doing something. Yea!

Have a great Sat. & Sun.

  • Happy St Patricks Day!!!

Guess I should post more often, but I seem to be too tired and sore these days to do more then read, so here goes. Still not too sure about this new forum. Kind of wondering how everyone got pictures under thier names? And of course I can't think of a good profile name so Im stuck with Senior Member for now

    Welcome to the group Susan!

Well I cant think of anything to say now that Im posting, I havent had very good weeks food wise, and of course the scales have reflected that. Seems so easy to gain weight, and sooo hard to take it off. Wish I could find that "lil leprechan" and his pot of gold so he can grant me a wish....to be at goal of course...LOL.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I'll be working like normal, so not doing anything fun.

    Dee
  • ugh!
    Happy St. Patrick's day everyone!

Well I got on the scales this morning.. Now let's remember that I was fully clothed and it was after breakfast so hopefully that added a pound or two. I am at the highest weight I've ever been.

Anyway, I have FACED the demon and am on track! I am making a light chicken parmesan tonight and serving it with pasta, broccoli and salad. If I have 1/2 portion of meat I will be happy. Had a bagel for breakfast and will have a lovely oriental cabbage salad for lunch.

Did I mention - I'M DYING FOR A SMOKE!!! argh!!!!

Congrats to all of you for getting on the scales! Great team we have!

Ok, off to clean the house - that outta work up a sweat.

  • Hi Everyone.

Thanks for the great welcome. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hope ya'll are having a good St. Patrick's day. So far, I've just cleaned the house and my husband is out mowing around the fence line of our pasture. (10 acres) That will take him most of the day.

I'm planning on taking this weight off this time. I'm being real careful to count my points etc...... I just hope my motivation keeps up. The only thing is that I can't seem to get in the swing of exercise. I was doing good a while back doing water aerobics but I stopped doing it. Seems like I can only do one thing at a time. I have to be careful with the kind of exercises since I have bad knees and will have to have surgery again this summer. It's called being a "klutz."

Off to the grocery store for a few things. Have a great day!!

    Susan
  • Good evening
Addey, you are absolutely correct--you gain weight after eating breakfast and being fully clothed. When I weigh, it's on a very empty stomach and wearing as little as I can get by with.
Don't you dare smoke. You've been doing great with that. Remember how much healthier you are now.

How is your weather? I keep seeing how cold it up north. Brrrr... We were in the '60's today with a wind. I stayed indoors most of the time--working on the house.

Dee. did you have many Irish drunks tonight? Hope not any that bothered you.
I usually cook cabbage on the 17th, but on Saturday it just didn't seem appropriate. We had spaghetti with meatballs tonight. We were both too tired to cook hamburgers outside.
We started fixing the ceiling today. It's going to be lots of work. But, the sunroom will be so much nicer when we get it done.

Susan, Hope you had a good day. You have one big yard to mow. Do you have pecan trees? How about magnolias?

    Tina
  • Hi,

Hope ya'll had a good Sunday. I actually got to plant tomatoes and peppers in my garden. I also got seeds for lettuce, cabbage carrots, corn and spinach, but they will have to wait until next weekend. Now let's hope they all grow.

Addey, I'm with Tina on the fact that you do weigh more after you eat. On weigh in day, I eat the lightest meals possible and don't drink a lot for several hours prior. However, get out of my way after I've stepped on that scale.

Tina, I do have pecan trees on my land. I think there are about 6. They produce pecans about the size of acorns. I wanted to have them grafted so they would produce larger pecans but I can't find anyone to do it. No magnolias, but I do love them. I saw one today at Home Depot that was purple. Might have to get one. The mowing of the pasture is quite enjoyable and relaxing. I even enjoy mowing the yard.

Dee, I too am curious about the member status. Mine says "junior member." Whatever that means? To add a picture under your name, go up to Forum Links, then to Profile, then to Edit Options, one of the last things on the page is Avatar (this is where you can select your picture.) Hope that helps.

Well, I have to go back to work tomorrow. Spring Break is over, only 9 more weeks until summer. Can ya'll guess I teach? I've enjoyed being off this week with nothing that I had to do.

    Susan
  • Thanks for the info Susan on how to get the pics, I'll have to check into that when I have more time.

Tina, Im a supervisor for a catalog company, so all we get are phone calls (thank goodness!) Course Im sure we get a few drunks calling us

Hang in there Addey, your doing great with the no smoking, and the fact that your not gaining due to not smoking is fantastic....you'd be amazed how much clothes can weigh *S* I like to weigh 1st thing in the morning, with the lightest clothes possible.

Hope everyone has a good week!
    Dee
  • Hi ladies!
No med inventory today. I will be gone most of this week finishing up the other offices got 6 more locations to do.
This was not such a good weekend. I was up .4 on Friday and I must confess I drowned my sorrows in food. I am back on track and ready to kick butt.
Addey take it a day at a time. By the 3rd day I was ok. I think losing weight is harder than quitting smoking. Just MHO (I quit cold turkey)
Susan-I recommend just walking and if you have to workout indoors, Leslie Sansome has some great indoor walking tapes. I really like her.
I don’t eat anything before weigh in and I have a weigh in outfit: bike shorts and a tank top or a tshirt. I carry it with me and change into my street clothes after weighing in then I head to work.
I am determined to kick some butt on the scale this week. I am going to concentrate on my cardio and stretching. I will also up my water.

Good luck this week ladies and I will try to check in at night (after I get off my other job)

BTW one good thing this week. They let Dave come home 2 weeks early! He was ready to get outta Toronto. We did celebrate. He is going to a high tech job fair tomorrow. Send some good vibes that he lands a job in Seattle
  • Happy Monday to everyone....
I had a busy weekend. We got started on re-doing the sunroom ceiling. We went to Home Depot and bought ceiling molding. Tonight, we'll put it up and then putty places on the ceiling. Hey, we might even put up the primer coat of paint.

Dee - Sorry about the confusion of the "drunks"....I was thinking about Jill's second job at the time. A drunk ordering from a catalog would be funny.

Susan - I've never heard of a purple magnolia. And, you inspire me to get my veggie garden ready. Mine is very small compared to yours. I usually plant jalepanos, green peppers, and a few tomatoes. I don't have much luck with tomatoes. I don't use poison and get those bugs that leave whilte squiggly lines on the leaves.

Jill - I am thinking positive, great thoughts for Dave. He just has to find a job in Seattle!

Well group, I have a new boss---the new minister started today. He's very nice. I'm sure the office will be fun now.

    Have a great OP week.
    Tina
  • Hi all!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. The weather has finally turned nice here.

My kids are back in school, so I can get back into a routine. It was fun having them off, but I'm glad they're back in.

My goals this week include starting a more consistent exercise program. I have a good start on losing, and just want to keep going. The nicer weather should help.

I also have started spring cleaning the house. I need to paint the inside baaaaaad. Two little boys leave lots of hand prints on the walls. And after washing them time and time again, they are ready for some paint. So I'll be joining you Tina in sprucing up the house.

Everyone have a great day, and stay OP.

    Tracy
  • Tracy,
We can compare notes on how our painting is going. Maybe you could let your boys put their hands in the paint and have handprint wall paper. No??? Okay just a thought.

    Tina
  • Hi Guys,

Hope you had a great Monday! Even having to go back to work, it was still a good day. I really miss the kids when we are off. They are the best part of my job.

Tina, my garden isn't that big. It is probrably 10 by 10. ( I guess, I was never good at size... that's my husband's job) I always plant more tomotoes than I need because I always kill a few plants, with the exception of last year... they all grew My brother was telling me to be careful with the peppers because they will cross pollinate and screw up the taste. For example: bell peppers tasting like jalenpanos if planted too close. It might be fun to see what they taste like since they are already planted.

Tracy, I liked Tina's idea of the boys putting paint on their hands. Easy for me to say, right? I don't envy ya'll painting.

Dee, what catalog company do you work for? I love to order from catalogs. I hate to have to go to the stores to buy stuff.

Jill, I'll have to check out the walking tapes. We have a new multiply handicapped kid at school that was crying today, so I pushed him around the hallway. He stopped crying. I might have to make that part of my daily routine to go down and check on him. I'm the department chair and have to make sure things run smoothly for my special ed kids.

Well my husband called and is on the way home from work. Guess I'll go make dinner.

By the way Tina, I use flour on my plants. It helps keep the bugs off of them. My exterminator told me about it. It's cheap and safe to use.

    Have a good evening!!
    Susan
  • Happy Monday everyone! I figured out how to change my icon finally. I love Pandas so I thought this was adorable.

DH went out of town this week for his spring break - left me and the baby home. Imagine, leaving your wife to go to Myrtle Beach golfing. He owes me big time now....

We are surviving fine (except for the tumble down the stairs by my son yesterday - and now has a huge goose egg on his forehead) It's a good thing children are so resilient.

I am so jealous of those of you talking about gardening. We still have snow on the ground here. At least it is getting a little warmer here. Just think tomorrow is the first day of spring. No more excuses for not getting out and exercising now!

Did great food wise today. Only ate the minimum points which is unusual for me. Even went for a walk also! Hope everyone else is doing well. Have a great week!
  • geez
    Hi everyone,

Created a nice long reply yesterday and hit some strange button, boom it was gone. I was NOT impressed.

Kimmy Jo - Way to go on staying at minimum points. I am not sure I'll ever be able to do that!

Susan, do you mean you sprinkle flour on your plants??

(argh, it's doing it again! Just took me out of here, too strange).

Tina, add me to your list of painters. I want to redo my office at home. I should do it before the really nice weather gets here but I have NO clue where to start.

Tracy, why not buy paint and create a 'new look'. Let the boys put their hands in it and then on the wall.. you know like the sponge look only hands.. LOL

Dee, I agree that gaining is so much easier than losing but we need to keep at it!! If not then we'll be unhappy the rest of our lives (please cut and paste that to send back to me when I get cranky..lol)

Jill, I didn't know you were a former smoker!! I have been quit since Jan 3 but have smoked a cigarette on 3 separate occasions. I'm trying not to be too upset about it, just move on and have no plans to go back to smoking full time. What an evil habit it is!!

Anyway folks, I better get to work. Did I miss anyone?? :-)

    Have a great day everyone!
    Addey
  • Spring is here?!?
With all of everyone's gardening/painting and general renovation plans it seems like spring is in full force. Of course living up here in the midwest, unfortunately my garden is still snowed in-boy am I jealous!

We have been having 50 degree days so it helps, but there's still plenty of the white stuff left around.

It sounds like everyone is trying to have a good week and stay OP. I myself may have indulged in a few too many green beers to have a loss this week!

But good luck to everyone else this week at weigh-in!
