Es,
A friend makes them for me and her group that she is moderator of. I get like 3 a day for the season/ holiday that is near.
Don't you dare give up. CONGRATS on the 3 pounds. That is 12 sticks of butter girl. That is wonderful.

Jen,
Your sister does sound strong.
You sound like you all have a crazy time on Halloween. I love when kids don't grow up all the way. they can have fun.
Congrats on your new position. Have fun.

Sandy,
So sorry about your friend's mom. That is so sad. Give her a hug from us. Great idea about buying at last minute. I buy stuff I don't like but kids do.

We have a pumpkin/dessert party to go to tonight next door. I vow that I am not eating anything there. I will tell you how I did.

Someone left a plastic pumpkin on our doorstep last night and it had a long poem with candy and a "Boo" ghost picture in it. We are to make 2 copies of the picture and poem and get 2 plastic pumpkins and put candy and the paper in them. We them hang the picture of "Boo" on our door and we are to anonymously put them on 2 neighbors doorsteps and then they are to do the same thing and put them on someones doorsteps that doesn't have a "Boo" picture on it.
It was so much fun sneaking around last night with the kids and finding someone without a ghost picture on the door. We were humming the Mission Impossible theme song going down the sidewalk.
It is called BEING BOOed.

Good morning guys:

Terri - I love that "being booed" thing, sounds so cool. The only thing is if we didn that in NY, sneaking around the neighborhood and putting things on people's doorsteps, we might get shot!

Jen - That's great about the food drive - we do that in my neighborhood and here at the university, the students have a food drive, a clothing drive in the winter and a toy drive at Christmas. The staff and faculty also participate in the Daily News letters to Santa Drive, where we each pick out 1 or 2 letters from kids and fulfill their wishes. Feels really good, as some of these kids really have nothing. Glad you got together for lunch with your sister. She'll need lots of support.

Oh, and Jen, you're not the only one who hasn't tasted curry - to be honest I have a problem with the smell of curry. And I'm such a picky eater, if something smells or looks funny to me, I won't eat it. I have also never eaten yogurt or cream cheese, or cottage cheese because of the way they look :p

Es - I forgot to say congrats on your 3 lbs lost :bravo:  Great job, amiga. I will ask Alana about the student you mentioned.

Sandy - Sorry about your friend's mom. Glad things are starting to look up for you though. Hope you enjoy your tandoori chicken.

Hello to ZoeGirl, Janie and Ruthie. Hope you guys are doing okay.

Have a great day, everyone. Talk to you's soon.

Hugs,

Dianne

Dianne,
That is too funny.

Jenny523 10-30-2003 05:30 PM

Dianne,
I can relate to being a picky eater, especially when it comes to meats/seafood. I do like cottage cheese, yogurt and cream cheese however. Joe will not touch sour cream nor yogurt....says it's like they're spoiled/sour.

Terri,
That is so cute about being "boo-ed" . Same thing happened to my niece in her town, must be the new "in" thing to do; it's bound to become a great tradition!

Brandon chose to be the Grim Reaper for Halloween, Jess had to admit he's growing up; he wouldn't dream of being something cute! Matthew is going to be a scarecrow... he should be a devil

It's beautiful here today, sunny and in the upper 60's. They're predicting more of the same for tomorrow. That'll be great for the kids...no rain hopefully :crossed:

Jen,
My boys are appalled that they were Barney at one time for Halloween. The bloodier the better now.
The cute costumes have not seen this house for 6 years. :(

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Getting ready to take the boys around. Bruce is home for good. :) Have fun!!!!

Hi Girls,

Happy Halloween. It looks like I'm going to have alot of candy left over.:( Not that many kids came by. I guess since it's Friday there's a lot of halloween parties.

Just popped in to say hi. I'll be back tomorrow.

Our hometown had their Homecoming Game tonight so a lot of houses were dark. There weren't as many kids walking around.
I wish they would have coordinated it better. It was still fun. There were spots where there were some families.
One good thing was there wasn't to many high schoolers going out for free candy. There are usually tons.
We left our candy outside after we left for the streets and we had a little left. Really good friends came when we stopped off at home to go potty and we didn't have any candy left so I grabbed some of Bradley's candy and gave it to them. Bradley's face was priceless.

Hi Everybuddy:wave:

I cannot remember if I ever told you all about our church's partner program with a village in Transylvania (part of modern Romania). We have visited back and forth for the past 10 years.

So of all times to visit, we had guests from our village arrive on October 30th. It was their first exposure to an American Halloween. In fact, it is not an event that they celebrate at all. We had a party last night at one of the committee member's houses, where we were encouraged to come in costume. The highlight of the evening was when the trick or treaters came to the door and the Transylvanian's all rushed to the door to admire the kid's costumes and to take their pictures. Of course a Count Dracula came trick or treating too and when he was introduced to the Transylvanians, he said "O yeah, and like I am a real vampire, HA!"
With everyone talking about costumes, it brought back a memory of when my older son David was four years old. I had made him a devil costume with a cape, a hood with stuffed horns, and a jumpsuit with a tail. It was quite a sewing project for me at the time. He proudly wore it to a play group party, but then he found out that the devil was a "bad guy". He said "I cannot be a bad guy!" He refused to wear that costume again, and went trick or treating in his Superman pajamas.

Hope you all had a happy Halloween and the candy is not haunting anyone.

Hi everyone

Sandy,
The timing couldn't have been better for the visitors from Transylvania

We have candy remaining, but only because my niece brought quite a bit with her. We had a fairly good turn out on Halloween, and lots of fun.
The boys have been here since Friday; Jess and Michael are picking them up today. When they leave, all the candy is going with them. :s:

have a great Sunday,
~Jen

Hi Girls,

I'm dying to have chocolate. I'm bringing some to work tomorrow. I did a really stupid thing. I joined the South Beach Diet website. It was like a spur of the moment decision. $35 for 6 weeks. I was going to do both(WW & SBD). Now I regret but it's too late. I can't get my money back. :( I'm desperate. I want to reach my goal before I turn 50 in April. I know I can do it. I don't know what's my problem. There's days I'm all psyched then I lose the motivation, like overnight!

Jen, have fun with the boys. I'm going to visit my nephew today. I'm bringing pizza. I'll only have 1 slice.

Be back later this evening. I have to go food shopping.

Have a great day everybody. The weather here is beautiful.

Love you's
Es

Hi ladies,

Well, my Halloween turned out to be anything but delightful. I lost my keys at school. I went to the dealership (keys have computer chip on them) to have another set made. I gave them the Vin # to the car and they made me a set of keys. But, guess what! They didn't work! Luckily for me, I ran into a cousin at the dealership, he helped me unlock my car doors with a coat hanger. I was so hoping that my keys where inside my car, but no such luck.

I finally tracked my husband down. He eventually filed the key that the dealership made to fit the ignition, so I can now start my car, but I don't have a car door key. It would be an understatement to say that I'm paranoid of locking the car doors.

So with all that, my eating has been way out of control. Guess I need a little down time just to relax!! Maybe that would get me back on the right track.

Well, I have to go back and read your post. I hope everyone is doing okay. Talk to you later.

Ruth

Es,
The pressure we put on ourselves to diet can be overwhelming. I can't even bear to face another fresh start, begin another diet, or spend any more money on another plan, due to the paralyzing fear of another failure.
Perhaps we need to change our way of looking at eating...smaller portions, less junk. That would be a good first step. No counting points, journalling, or using the "D" word. In other words, eating what we like, but in MODERATION! just like a thin person.
I know that goes against the forum we're on...WW...and that there are excellent role models here (Terri) who have been successful in their weight loss journeys. I'm not discounting the efforts they have made, nor am I trying to come up with excuses for not being "on program". Simply trying a more common-sense approach.

Ruth,
What a hassle about the keys :( any chance of them turning up? I always lock my car doors; I'd be in trouble if I suddenly couldn't/shouldn't....would be locked out in no time.

Hope everyone's doing well.
~Jen
