Hey everyone! I'm working all night so I'm going to have fun with this and ...that old thread was getting so long I was having trouble keeping up so I'll be bold and start a new one!!!
Emily: Congratulations on the measuring!!! That's awesome...and Latin Dancing is a lot of fun-I go as often as I can-which kind are you going to learn? It's a great way to burn calories! Debbie-I love NY and Co too....they have great clothes for inexpensive prices.. And to the wild meat eaters..I've only had venison once and loved it...I've never been hunting but i killed a deer with my car once(and NO, I didn't eat it!) On the subject of the food radar...I'm definitley like that...I wonder if it's common in overweight people...to know when food is there and have to actively resist eating it...like I've been doing today with all of these Girl Scout cookies around...so far..so good...c'mon willpower-don't fail me! Lori PS How does one post a poll? I tried clicking on post a poll but nothing happened |
Good morning ladies!
Good morning LoriD!!
I'm with you on this girl scout cookie thing. They are ALL OVER my office and being passed around and left out. Hang in there. I have only had one thin mint on Monday and that's all, and I'm going to try not to have any more. Kimobi - woo hoo, another short girl! Boy, it sucks being short. But we short girls just have to stick together. Emily, thanks for the words. I like that saying "progress not perfection." I'll remember that one. And here are some positive things I'm going on... I have this black velvet pea coat that I LOVE and I wear it in the fall and early spring. Well this fall I wore it all the time, but couldn't really button it - so I'd just leave it open. Well last night I wore it for the first time and I could button it all the way! I'm so glad because it's my favorite coat. And I've done really well all week. Been to the gym twice so far and have stayed within my points. But tomorrow will be the real test. I have a feeling I'll be drinking. I've banked up 10 points, but really that's only 3-4 drinks. Which normally is more than enough, but St. Patty's Day in Boston is an all day afair. Maybe I'll wear my coat to remind me how important this is. Thanks girls and have a nice day! Lisa |
TGIF!
YEAH! Almost weekend!!!
Well, I just got another comment about how I look like I lost weight. :D I honestly don't really notice myself and I think that is due to my not committing to the workouts :( Buy hey pounds gone are pounds gone right. Well, I will check back again later.... Lori- I know what you mean about knowing when food is around....unfotunately when I was gaining all this weight I use to plan when and what and how much I would eat. Of course never in front of anyone :( When I was depressed I use to binge like you wouldn't believe....of course it was all emotional :( Lisa- Awesome job on the coat!!!!! Later! |
Wow, getting drunk is economical for me now. I had 2 beers and was completely gone (hey and for 6 points that's not bad). You have to understand the last time I got drunk was on St-Patty's day last year and I had a pitcher and was only sort of gone, so with a much lower body weight, I just can't handle my liquer. Oh dear, I am a cheap drunk :o.
I am thinking of getting certified to teach aerobics, cool eh! Also, I may have found a roomate! We talked last night and we're going to meet on the 31st. The apartment is expensive, but it sounds awesome and since I am sharing it it'll still be cheaper then getting my own. Lori: I think the food radar exists in every overweight person (myself included). Tilley: congrats on the jacket! Yeah St-Patty's day is also a huge deal in Montreal as well. HAPPY St-Patty's DAY (I know this is early!!!) Take Care Ali Who will be moving in seven weeks!!!! |
Suzanne: I found I started to get all the comments at around 180 as well, I still get them and got 3 within an hour yesterday (my favorite was, "you're getting really thin, I don't like it", from a friend of mine who was joking around with me). It also took me a while to see that I had lost weight, what has helped are photograpghs from before and stuff, they make me realize that I am smaller.
Take Care! Ali |
Weekend Plans
Trish: I think the only thing that will work for me over the weekend is to eat like it was a workday. My problem is I eat out every night on a weekend! Plus I snack all day since I'm home and there is food around. I'm going to make a conscious effort to completely journal and be aware of what's going into my mouth. Next weekend, I'll worry about points. :)
Well, I have to get busy but I'll be around today. Yippee!! It's Friday! |
Friday's are such long days!!
I just had the worst staff mtg. ever. I am so aggravated with some of the staff here. They are so fatalistic in their thinking. They complain about how the Social work field is changing etc. and I am supposed to be getting my Master's Degree in it. I have never been completely positive that that is what I wanted however, hearing them vent makes me doubt even more. AHH What should I pursue? I ask myself this question quite often and still have no idea! It can be so frustrating. Oh well done venting. I hope this doesn't lead to stress eating. I am doing o.k. so far although it is only about 11am.
Congrats to all of the positive results that you are all seeing. I love when clothes fit better. IT is so exciting. I will post more later. I just had to vent to someone. Love Becky Ps I have the GS cookie problem today. Someone bought boxes for the agency. GEE THANKS  I am going to work a couple into my points though. Wish me luck b/c the problem is just having a couple :D PPSS ( or whatever the 2nd p.s. should be) Ali-Congrats on the aerobics idea. That is an awesome way to have accountability. I imagine leading the class would make it difficult, even for me, to skip :s: |
Self Challenge
I think I'll start over on Monday. I haven't been able to do any excercising since I start coughing the minute I get hot or out of breath. So, who is with me? Anyone need to start or want to give it a fresh start?
I don't think we'll celebrate St. Pat's day this weekend. I can't handle all that beer! Welp, boss is back. I spent most of the smoke break reading the new WW magazine. Absolutely the best investment I've made in a long time! |
I did great last night
Hello all. well, I did very well last night with the dinner out. I had grilled chicken sand w/o bread mayo etc. and sub the fries and slaw with a salad and light dressing. Did not even eat it all. then I did not get anything to eat at the movies. I am very proud of myself.
Becky: I would not let negative talk at work make up your mind on what direction to take your career. I think all ocupations must have the same complatint...it is not like before, it is changing. I hear that from the CPAs I work with all of the time. I think that is just part of life and working. Most important is to do something you love (or at least like ok) Stacey:I think you are right, we need to plan the weekend like it was a work day. What gets me into trouble first thing is that right after weigh in I go out to eat with my hubby. But I use that as an excse to eat poorly. Then I figure I might as well blow sunday and start over on monday. I think I will concentrate on that first out to eat and make better choices. Ali: I think it would be very cool to be an arobics instructor. What a great idea. ILGBG: complements are so great. You are doing so well. Lisa: you can stay within your points on st patrick's day. Great job on having a plan and banking! Lori: what kind of clothes does NY& Co have? I have never been. Oh, I finished Bridget Jones' Diary last night. It was sooooo funny. I am going to buy the other today after work and read it tonight (hubby is out of town until Sat pm, so I have tons of me time to do this.) I hope the movie is fab! Trish 193.2/186.2/155 5'10" |
Is the day over yet?
Happy Friday!!! I didn’t get the dog out for a walk last night after work. It was snowing and I was being a woos. I didn’t want to go out in the cold! DH’s parents wanted us to go out for dinner last night – Mexican food no less. To top it off, the first Margarita was free! I did have one but only had a burrito and am OK OP as far as I can figure. Today is the challenge. I had oatmeal for breakfast, will have salad for lunch, but we are going for Happy Hour after work. I can do OK only drinking 2 light beers, but it’s that appetizer part that gets me. I LOVE appetizers  I’m just going to do some mental rehearsing all day and tell myself the appetizers aren’t worth it. ‘Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels!’ Oh you guys, this day is going sooo slooowwwww!
Suzanne: That whole situation is a double edged sword. I used to ask my DH to help me when I wanted to eat dessert or something ‘bad’, but even though I asked I would get mad at him for doing it. I’ve stopped asking him to help me. It has to come from inside me. He’s never taken it upon himself to do it though so I don’t know what to tell you there. Guys know how touchy we can be about our weight and probably thought if he said anything it would be that ‘Oh, so you didn’t like the way I looked before?’ Maybe now he will know he can compliment you without getting introuble! Becky: dottisweightlosszone.com Her site is awesome! If you go the restaurants, she has points for most of them you can come up with. It really helps! I have a co-worker here who is cute, blond, brown eyed and about a size 6. She’s a total food pusher! It gets very frustrating. Lisa: Congrats on the coat fitting again! Talk about a major confidence boost! I think you should wear it out and hopefully it will help! Ali: After losing 30 of my pounds, I really LOOKED at an old picture a while back. When I showed it to DH he was shocked as well. It truly is amazing! Trish: I’m so proud of you for making good choices when you ate out! Woohoo!!! See! It can be done. Here’s my idea. I’m going to try to eat really filling foods this weekend when I do eat. This will be my first weekend back OP and I’m scared to death. I can feel myself leaning towards the ‘oh it’s the weekend, I can just play it by ear’ attitude and that gets me in trouble! I think I will make spaghetti tomorrow. I think I will be going to see my best friend. I need to make sure I eat before I go and take some carrot sticks or other low point snackie with me so I’m not tempted. I really want to walk my dog, but if we get the snow storm we are expecting I will have to make a point of either getting back into Taebo or on the machine I have. I know we can do it! :smoking: |
AGH! Points what are Points????
Wed. I went used up all of my banked points (7) plus went over by 2. Yesterday I have not figured out the damage, but I know I ate at least 40 pts. and Tonight we are having a friend over and having a gourmet mexican meal(which I am cooking). Now I am going to try to keep the meal as low fat as possible.....but still. I am so disgusted with myself! I think I need to take my own advice "progress, not perfection" sigh.
On the upside Hubby showed me some "dirty" pics of myself last night. He showed me one taken recently and another one that was taken when I was abt 20 pds heavier. All I can say is WOW! What great motivation! In the heavier picture I was wearing lingerie and I do remember that I thought I had looked sooooo good at that time (cause I had lost a ton of weight) NOT! It's amazing what 20 pds does! o.k. now that you all know what hubby and I do for fun sometimes.........sorry! :o well, I gotta run.....as for the latin dancing the book says that is covers stuff like salsa, merenge (is the pachanga latin??)I need to go look it up, it's a four week course so I am not quite sure. I'll check back in later.... |
Brenda: Say no to the appitizers. The thing is they do not taste so good as to counteract th ebad you will feel afterward. AND, if you don't eat them, the beer will kick-in that much faster. YOu are right about the filling foods. Is ice cream a filling food? Chips? pizza? Oh, I guess it is oatmeal and beans for me. I think with hubby out tonight I am going to stir-fry veggies for dinner. he hates stir-fry. That will be a good for me treat.
Hey, who was working on a low point margarita? Kay, was that you? How is that going? I think I need one. Trish |
Iam here but running off to a meeting...WI yesterday down 1.4! Changed my sig.
and my avatar. Gotta run, write later! |
I WANT M&M's!!!
Sorry huge craving. I did have my 2 GS cookies (3pts) but that led to the whole I need chocolate thing. I want M&M's but I am making myself wait an hour and if I am still wanting them I may go for it. Actually though I have already talked myself out of them. I am doing good on pts. but Fri. evenings are the hardest for me so I better save those pts.
Trish-I am on Nov. in the Bridget JOnes Diary. I so relate to her it's hysterical. I think all women do! Also thanks for the career advice. I am just having a really crappy day and I tend to doubt everything. I guess I tend to be an extremist sometimes. Oh well! Brenda thanks for the info on the dotti's I will have to check it out. Good luck this weekend. This is a tough one! I am not a drinker but I know those points add up quick from what all of you say. Belle- WOOOHOOOO! 1.4# Good for you. Emily Good luck this weekend. I love mexican food so much. I don't cook it though! I am impressed! Also girls how do you find diff. avatars the ones that I like are already used. Just curious! Thanks. Need to get back to paper work! My comp. at home is still on the blink so I will see all of you on mon. unless I get a chance before I leave work today! Becky |
Trish O - You should be proud! Wow, you did really well at dinner. I wouldn't have been so good to skip the bread on the sandwhich though... I just wouldn't be able to.
Belle - Way to go on the 1.4!!!! Awesome! I weigh in on Mondays and it sucks... right after the weekend. but then again, it keeps me on my toes so I behave on the weekednds too! Grace - Just say No! to M&M's :) just kidding. Although they can be addictive :) Good plan to wait and see it you still want them in an hour... but I'd still want them - especially after thinking about them for an hour... so I'd just have to turn them down all together. Sounds like you already made that choice anyway. To the rest: Thanks for the support and congrats on the coat. I definately think that's my plan for Saturday. I'll wear my coat as a reminder of what I'm working for and I'll be less likely to waste so many points on the green beer! Have a fun Friday! Lisa |
