Hey gail! GReat about winning $1000. What a great surprise.
Keep up the good work and keep in touch. Trying something new by eating more foods at breakfast and lunch and a lighter dinner.....................I'll let you know how it works out. Renovations are wonderful to get done. Key word is done. In the middle I find them taxing. Okay, Turtles, send us a smile and let us know you're out there. Best wishes to all Judy Itryharder 234.6/190/170and thinner  |
ooops, we're getting quiet again.
Had a nice weight loss this week. I feel back on track. Somehow losing weight in the fall is easier for me. Wishing all the Turtles good luck and :goodvibes: and :goodscale: Judy Itryharder 234.6/187/170 and thinner  |
Hello, I have been doing the original WW points since July 19th of this year. Have lost 17 lbs so far then I stalled, so for 2 days I ate "normal" by that, I didn't count but tried to be careful what I ate. Went up a little bit then back on plan yesterday and scale dropped like a rocket this morning. I have heard nothing but bad about the new WW plan so I haven't even considered joining WW again. Years ago I wasn't very overweight and had done the original points plan so I knew it worked. Thanks for this thread, it seems to definitely describe me, turtle. LOL

Hi Emeraldberry and :welcome3:
We keep on chipping away at our weight. So glad to have you sign in here. I believe the best thing to do is the best thing that works for you. I have started adding more interesting foods into my daily program and I am losing weight again. I'm pretty much an emotional eater, so while things around here have calmed down I figure I better lose weight while I can. Anyone else get that? Best of everything to the past and present and future Turtles. A long time ago a WW'r named Lin started this group and it was her inspiration that got us started. Gail and I are trying to keep it going while working on our own weight and aiming to reach goal. I would love to be at my goal weight this time next year. t hat's a big goal, but I know I can do it. :goodscale: :bravo: :goodvibes: :cheer: to us all! Judy Itryharder 234.6/187/170 and thinner  |
Hi turtles - Welcome Emerald, hope you enjoy our group.
Crazy still up here & right now are having a heat wave - but still not complaining. Love the warm weather. My apartment is almost done - the last big thing is the kitchen which was officially ordered today. So super happy about that. Takes time getting quotes & finding right people for the job. I can sleep there now, just not cook. Weight still up/down but that's OK for now. Still having lots of summer get aways and just planned a trip for Nov to Cuba with 16 ladies - so that will be really fun. Trying to basically stay on track and getting in my walks which I know has really saved big weight increases. Judy - congrats on your big weight loss & as you said, while you can get it done. I know what you mean about the emotional stuff - that is when I crave the carby/munchies stuff. Thank goodness I don't have a sweet tooth. All - post when you can & let us know how you are doing. Good luck - lets have some extra water & go for a walk today! |
HI Turtles,
Gail, is your apartment still with your daughter and her family or is it separate? Thats' a lot to get done, but I bet it'll all be worth it when it is over. My better eating is paying off. iam not starving myself and that is working since I haven't binged this week. Yay. Looking for a 1# weight loss this week. MY WI has changed to Friday, so I'll let you know. Have a great weekend and chime in when youca n. judy Itryharder 234.6/187/170a nd thinner  |
Hi turtles
Judy - yes, we are putting in a basement apt for myself in a house I purchased with my daughter. Almost done, just ordered the kitchen which is pretty much the end. But I can now sleep/shower down there now. We have been there for the past year and it is a large home, but still will be nice to have my own space again. I rented out my other house & that is going well. Last weekend my trailer pool will be open but we will still go up there until Thanksgiving weekend when it closes. Judy - glad you weight loss is going well. I gained a few lbs over the summer but was down 1/4# last Thursday. All - keep up the good work & post when you can. Gail |
Hey its me cherry. Bandit and Judy it is so nice to see you ladies keeping up the hard fight. Tanks for all of the encouragement you have given over the years. My weight gain has been bad due to medicine and just plain making wrong decisions sometimes. I have not given up on being healthier though and exercising. I will try to check in again soon. My latest meds are effecting my memory.
Hello to any new turtles hanging around. |
Bandit, it will be incredible to have the privacy and peace and quiet of your own place when you want it. Ideal arrangement. Enjoy it and I'm so happy for you.
The trailer area has also been such a good place for you to entertain and hang out. So good! I know your Canadian Thanksgiving comes before ours, so happy, happy! :cheer: and  Cherry, so good to hear from you. The turtles group is still here. I think about you all the time and am glad you are working to stay fit and healthy. Meds can be tricky, and I think we've all gone thru patches when it's just not much fun, but we do the best and then make progress once that situation changes. The big clue is not to gain too much weight during that time...................Fight it! you can do it. You've done so well thru the years and you know we're sending you :goodvibes: to do well. I have a nice bit of news. To celebrate my :hb: my dh and I are going out to Montauk at the tip of Long Island. We'll be right on the ocean for a couple of nights. Our favorite thing to do. Both he and I are celebrating big birthdays this year...............but I don't think I'll tell you which ones. lol. I WI tomorrow and hope I've had a weight loss. If I do, I'll tell you some things that are working for me to keep me from getting too hungry. Of course I need to know if I've lost weight or not. Also started my toning DVD yesterday. it's only 20 minutes and I am retired, so you'd think for sure I could fit it into my day, but something always comes up. Okay, enough babble from me. Good luck and :goodscale: to all of us...................old and new members of the group and all onlookers who wish us well. Judy Itryharder 234.6/187/170 and thinner  |
Hi Turtles,
Well, I had my WI and stayed the same. My program needs tweaking. I'll try eliminating the carb at night and see if that makes a difference. In the last 5 weeks, I stopped the gaining streak I had been on and I've lost almost4 #. However, I really want to see more progress than that now that I have made up my mind to do well. beautiful weather at last. Our heat spell broke and now it would be goodto get out and walk. Have a great weekend. :bravo:AND  Judy Itryharder 234.6/187/170 and thinner  |
Hello everyone, I think I would like to join this thread also. I've been on WW for around 6 months or so, and including a stalled out but maintaining summer, I've lost around 20 lbs.
I noticed you were looking for delicious low point recipes, and I just have to share what has motivated me more than I ever imagined. I found Weight Watcher Girl 1 videos on you tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGX...hW5V3c7PGwavtw , and her blog. https://theprettyyouproject.blogspot.com/ She's lost over 140 lbs, and is a great inspiration. I like the idea of weight watchers, but I'm just not into their fancy recipes; I'm not a leek and pine nut kind of person. Weight Watcher Girl 1 posts the things I eat, cheesy broccoli chowder, stuffed peppers, cabbage casseroles etc. She also introduced me to PB2 (powdered peanut butter) 2 TBS = 1 point, which when mixed with light whipped topping-also 2 TBS, sugar substitute- 2 tsp, and a dash of salt makes the most amazing peanut butter apple dip I have ever tasted. Eaten with a giant apple and glass of ice water, I don't even feel deprived. Favorite breakfasts: Eggbeaters 1/2 cup = 1 point, Salsa 0 pts, 2oz shredded cheese 2-4 pts and either a sandwich thin- 3 points for a delicious breakfast sandwich( I toast mine for crunch) or just a sliced apple or some grapes for 0 points. Another favorite: Almond milk vanilla unsweetened 1 cup = 1pt, with Cheerios Multi-grain 1 cup = 4 points, with a sliced banana and cup of coffee. Filling and delicious. Almond milk is fabulous in smoothies and cereals. Still don't drink it plain personally. I also love sweets and have kids, so I need something yummy to eat when they are snacking. My go to replacement for ice cream is 1 cup almond milk, 2 bananas sliced and frozen, and 2 TBS Powdered Peanut Butter, Sugar substitute (I use Stevia) and dash of salt to taste. Blend all up in a blender, and it get the consistency of a fast food milkshake. I also add cocoa powder at times when I want chocolate, but it makes it more bitter and requires more stevia. Was in a slump over the summer (vacations aren't good for diets) and just maintained my initial loss of 16 lbs, but when I went back to work (I teach school) I got so many compliments on how great I was looking that it motivated me to keep going. This morning I really was worried to weigh in, because I've made so many good choices this week and said no to so many delicious looking things that I would be disappointed if the scale didn't show it. But it did! Plateau defeated! My next mini goal is 210 for next week. If I see that, wow. If it says 211, still good. Slow and steady.... Sorry for the long post, but that is the way I am. Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress! |
Wow! Inkdiva, thanks for all your tips.
:welcome3: to our group. We love practical ideas we can put into place in our kitchens. By the way, I love  long posts. The longer the better so I can get to know you and get good ideas. I lost a pound yesterday so I'm hoping that cutting out just one carb in my evening meal will help me shed my weight. Good luck to all of us. Inkdiva, so glad you got encouragement back at work. We all can do this one day at a time!! :bravo: and :goodscale: to us all! Itryharder Judy 234.6/186.5/170 and thinner  |
Welcome inkdiva. Thanks for the good meal ideas for breakfast. I need to get back on track with portion control and of course tracking all the "extras". I have little ones also and I know how important it is to have a plan for when the kids have their snacks.
Judy- Thanks for the encouragement. Sometimes we all need a reminder that we CAN do this no matter how hard it seems. I hope that cutting out a carb in the evenings helps. Carbs have always been my downfall and really effect my moods and cravings negatively. Sorry about the spelling. I am typing on a tablet. |
Hi turtles - welcome back Cherry - we have missed you!
Big welcome to Inkdiva & will check out the sites you mention. Judy - hang in there you are doing great I have been chugging along & last week I maintained at my Tops meeting. Our weather has been great so we are still bbqing lots which I love. And I know lots of people bbq all winter but when I see too much snow doesn't appeal to me & like to make some nice things like casseroles & stews. I actually made a beef stew Sunday evening while we were bbq steaks. So that was dinner last night. All - hope you chime in when you can & stay on track. |
So glad to see so many chiming in. Makes the day so much more pleasant to hear from everybody.
Food has been good for me all this week. I am allowing myself a 100 cal. treat each night before 8:30. Believe it or not , that has helped to keep me on track for now. I really hope to see a weight loss on Friday. Cherry, yes..................we're all sending you :goodvibes: and :goodscale: It is so easy to get off track and suddenly, as in my case, I had gained almost 17#. ugh, now I am working on getting them off. My weight loss over the years is still good, but I have plenty more to lose and would love to do that this year. Bandit, I'm with you. I never BBQ in the winter and the snow. First of all I just have a small electric grill so getting to it wouldn't be worth it. Oddly enough my indoor grill pan works well and Iv'e even done steaks on it and they've turned out fine. I am trying a new recipe called spaghetti squash lasagna..................you can imagine how to do it. Cook up the squash, noodle it and scoop it out. Layer typical lasagna ingredients into the empty squash shells and bake until the cheese melts. I will be using chicken sausage with mine when I do it. I'll let you know how it turns out. Should be good since I have done something much more simple in the past and the marinara sauce and spaghetti squash noodles with cheese is yummy. Wishing you all the very best. Let's try hard this week to lose a pound. I know we can do it!! :cheer: and :goodscale: Itryharder Judy 234.6/186.5/170 and thinner  |
