TGIF Thread!

Be back to post, starting thread.

modkittn 04-25-2003 10:10 AM

Thursday was bad =(

Ok, so Thursday was NOT good for me. ED ended up reaking havok, but I am back on the bandwagon again. In fact I went to the supermarket last night and made some really healthy choices to make me stay that way.

Oh and I did the 1-hour Windor Pilates this morning. This stuff is HARD and I did sweat this time. Half way through I thought my stomach muscles weren't going to make it any further but then they focused on teh legs and butt so it was OK. I really really recommend this if you girls want to tone your tummy. It is even making my lower abs hurt!

I'll be back later :). Where is everyone?

TonyaLyn 04-25-2003 10:30 AM

Hi Lori! I am here, waiting until lunchtime so that I can take off for the day and bum!

WinterGirl 04-25-2003 11:06 AM

Hi All!

Lori - thanks for keeping us informed about your pilates videos. The more I hear, the more I want them.

Tonya - I'm so jealous...bumming off work at noon.

As usual, I have to work tomorrow so no real weekend for me. I haven't been working out much the last few weeks except for yoga and my eating was atrocious W & Th. Maybe I'm making excuses for myself, but I honestly believe that part of the problem is my schedule. I just run out of time to plan eating or cook dinner. And it seems that my committment to myself (time for working out) is always the first thing I chop from my schedule. I wouldn't be so cavilier about breaking committments to friends. Why am I that way with myself? Shouldn't I treat myself as though I'm my own best friend?

Enough rambling. Must work.

Happy Friday to All.

Laura

modkittn 04-25-2003 11:24 AM

Ok Laura, you made me think about something. I have time to "make" dinner, but I usually find by the end of the day I don't have enough points to make a "home cooked meal". I'm talking just grilled chicken, rice, and veggies! Does anyone else get like this? Its so hard to eat less during the day in order to have a nice dinner. I feel like I'm not eating a whole lot of "natural" foods. I eat a lot of frozen dinners, boca burgers, stuff like that. Anyone have any advice?

Oh. I also got on the scale this morning and it read 162. Ok. So I have accepted the fact that my ED is actually making me gain weight. So this should be more motivation to stop that right? Lets hope so. I'm still seeing that counsellor and it is helping.

Kirsty 04-25-2003 11:52 AM

remember me?

hi girls,
sorry i haven't posted in a while. i kinda got out of the habit (a combination of avoiding the internet police and too much work to do!). anyhow. i'm going to make a concerted effort to drop in more often and hear how you're all doing.
so, fill me in - how is everyone doing? i want to hear all your news.
as for me, i was rather naughty with the old easter chocolate bunnies (and a rather lovely white chocolate duck!). BF and i put them in the freezer then smashed and ate them while watching some movies. mmmm. i did make up for it by going for a couple of runs round the local common (about 2.3 miles). i went with BF and managed to do it without stopping (except when crossing roads!). i wasn't exactly the fastest thing on legs, but i'm working on that.
not much else to say, oh i've been fake-tanning like a professional (except for the odd dodgy bit) lately! i love st tropez. funny how being tanned makes you feel slim and sexy. it's just a pity i have milk-bottle white scottish skin that doesn't tan naturally!
this weekend my friend is hosting a girlie cheese and wine and sex in the city sleepover. it's going to be rather drunken (we're a bad influence on each other) and cheese is my weakness. but, i've been saving up my bonus points and i'm going to do my best to limit my cheese intake. it's going to be tough!! what is everyone else up to over the weekend?
lori - i hope you get control of your ED. good luck.
laura - definitely make some time for yourself. can you take a long lunch break at work tomorrow and fit in some exercise?
right. back to work for me. ooh. i almost forgot to say. for those who don't know, BF and i used to work at the same place. but he's got a new job working for a national paper so we're proper grown-ups at last! it's weird not having him in the office but i'm sure it's healthier in the long run. plus he gets paid more so i get taken out to posh cocktail bars and restaurants more! ;)
right, i really am going now! enjoy your weekends, but watch those points!!!
kirsty

Kirsty 04-25-2003 11:56 AM

forgot to add

My name is Kirsty and I am a diet coke addict.
No really! I am drinking lots of the stuff at the moment. I keep craving it (not that kind of craving, don't worry!). But it has to be in a can and very cold (no bottles, no pepsi!). I really wish I could stop drinking it because i know it's not good to have too much fizzy drink, especially with all those artificial sweeteners. but i find it fills me up and of course it has no points!
perhaps i should try sparkling water...but it just isn't the same (and it's more expensive).
any ideas? or are we all secret diet coke addicts?

TonyaLyn 04-25-2003 12:03 PM

Yes, we are all addicts....mine is Diet Pepsi....I think I will have one now......

Kirsty 04-25-2003 12:06 PM

ooh stop! or i'll need a fix too!!

LoriD 04-25-2003 12:16 PM

Hi all! I am here, slowly expanding:) I have to tell you, if you have body image problems, being PG can certainly exacerbate them...
DH and I took a 'belly' picture- just me from the side with pants on lifting up my top...this was supposed to be for us only...well, it was on the digital camera and he was showing his family pictures of the dog when this popped up! And he had hooked the camera up to our 36 inch TV!!! I was so mortified! I didn't want his family to see me like that!
Oh well-it's supposed to be a beautiful thing, right????
Anyhow-I have a confession-
My name is Lori, and I am a diet coke addict!!! I swear I can tell the difference between the caffienated and non caffienated, and I don't like pepsi as much but it will do in a pinch!

If there is a cancer caused by too much diet coke, i am going to get it, I swear!:)

Hope everyone is doing well on the Canada day challenge. i have been lurking and following along:)
Here's some willpower for all of us for the weekend!
Love Lori

Jen-L 04-25-2003 12:19 PM

Hey all... I am still here and still PG. Oh and still working. I went home early yesterday and will probably today also. I feel like I am going to burst. I am very nervous about going into labor this weekend because my family is out of town and no one to watch Emma. I think we devised a plan with the few people that are here. One is available one day and one the other. It would be a pain, but you have to do what you have to do!!

I talked to my neighbor yesterday and she really thinks I have dropped. Could be why I feel so miserable the last couple of days. Lots of contractions too, but no real consistency. Every day I come into work, I make sure I have stuff finished just in case!!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

WinterGirl 04-25-2003 02:04 PM

I'm a diet coke addict and not even a secret one at that! And to make matters worse, I'm snobby about it. I much prefer fountain drinks, but will settle for ice cold cans, and in a pinch have even had it straight out of a plastic bottle! I will not however, under any circumstances, drink diet pepsi! Not even in mixed drinks. Waitresses hate me because in a new restaurant I will check a bazillion times to make sure it is diet coke and not diet pepsi before I place my order.

Lori - my problem isn't running out of points - so I don't know how much help I can be - maybe try eating a lot of high fiber foods during the day so you aren't as hungry then?

Kirtsty - CB and I work for the same company. I dread the day when one of us is working else where. Makes life a lot easier when a car breaks down or we haven't seen each other for a day or two and want to sneak away for a private lunch. Must be so strange w/o your BF there.

Lori - I'm sure that everyone thought your belly was beautiful. No one expects a woman whose expecting to be shaped like a teenage girl.

Jen - sending labor vibes to you. I know it will be rough to find Emma coverage this weekend but you sound so miserable that I can't help hoping the baby comes soon.

FYI... hubby and I work together. We have for over 5 years. It is so hard at times tho since we actually LIVE together and are married. When we were just dating/engaged it was much easier. Tho I have to admit, when he was interviewing for a different job, I got selfish about the possibility of not working together and ride sharing and all that. There are pros and cons to it! All I have to say... Don't bring work issues home. Work stays at work. Makes life much easier!!!

RhubarbJelly 04-25-2003 02:19 PM

Hi gals, Lovely day today! The weather here is gorgeous! I have today off too! I just got home from my biweekly massage. Yep definately a good day! Food wise is alright. I've had 5 points so far & plan on having a likght lunch-baked potato & a cob of corn. For supper we are bbq-ing buffalo burger which are only a point per ounce so that rocks! My brother & I have a bunch of errands to run this afternoon while DH is at work. I'm hoping to spend some time on yard work today or tomorrow too. Hope you all are having as good a day as I am!

Jen. Hope you feel more comfortable soon! Try not to get too anxious b/c youhave no control over any of it so there's no point in getting to worked up. Hang in there girl!

LoriD, I would be mortified with my in laws seeing me in a sidewiays picture & i don't evern have a baby on the way!

Mod Lori, I hope that your ed is under control today. Has it beeen better since you quit babysitting?

Kirsty, glad you could drop by! I've got pasty whits skin too which only likes to burn. I'm trying some fake tanning stuff but it isn't making a difference yet! Have fun with your gals this weekend! BTW I hate diet colas. I'm not big into pop period. I'm much rather have some fruit juice or iced tea.

Laur, my dh is a pop snob like you. He says fountain pop is the best. He gets cravings for it!

Tonay hope you're enjoying playing hooky! Have a great time!

Hope you all have great weekends! Hi to everyone who isn't here yet!

kimobi 04-25-2003 03:01 PM

Rina: How are buffalo burgers? I've heard they're better for you than beef ... :cbg:

Confession: Maybe I'M the freak, but I really don't like Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi! I'll drink them only in restaurants if they're from the fountain with lots of ice and lemon slices, but Diet Coke in a can? Yee-uwk. It taste tinny to me. I don't mind diet vanilla coke so much, though.

I do LOVE real Coke, though, which is probably the reason I put on weight since the wedding because I've been drinking regular soda. It's amazing bad for you regular soda is, and I just need to stay away. When I'm being very good OP, I avoid all sodas entirely and just drink water and Crystal Light raspberry or peach tea. But I haven't been very good OP lately. Today, I am doing better. I had hummus, sprouts and cucumbers on a bagel for lunch and an iced mocha with skin milk.

I do feel more motivated, though, because I got my hair cut the other day and I'm feeling sassy! :flow1: It had gotten pretty long and it was dull and boring so I sat in the hairdresser's chair and told her to do whatever she wanted. She cut about 6 inches off and gave me long layers, which graze my shoulders. I love it. I have a digital camera, but not a computer to extract the photos so I can't post anything. DH and I plan on getting a new computer very soon. Ours is ancient.

That's about all my news. Hello to everyone. I'm envying anyone who gets out early today because I have to work until 9 p.m., and then I'm on call if there's a murder, shooting etc., and then I have to work tomorrow at 8 a.m. That will be fun though ... I'm taking a citizen police academy course for a story and we're going to the firing range tomorrow!
