Welcome to the 20 something WW thread, everyone is welcome to post!

Good Monday Morning,

Okay it is sunday night, but I'd like to say a big hello to Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I am still deciding on my career, I think I am leaning more toward paralegal now. I hate being indecisive. Good news, I am only 9.8lbs away from goal now. I am really starting to feel thin for the first time in my life. I still have a bit of flab, but I am weight training and hopefully that will help out. Asides from that I am feeling terrific!

Anyhoo, Hope to see you out posting tomorrow!

Take Care!

Ali:)

(well it's really Sunday night for me !) Woo Hoo...almost to goal...that is great. I had a very relaxing weekend in bed watching movies...It was the perfect rainy day weekend..

I hope everyone had a great weekend !

Julie

Hi all!

Love the new look to the site. :)

Anyways I just wanted to say hi before I go to bed......

I did horrible this weekend, but tommorow (more like today when everyone reads this LOL) I will be starting the self challenge. I am determined to lose the rest of the weight! I hate it that I am doing this to myself. I am so close to goal (20 pds versus 110 when starting) and I am stretching out my victory further and further with all of my cheating.
I have to stop somewhere! O.k. I am off my soapbox/mini-self pep talk here. LOL.

I'm going to bed but I will chat with you all later. :)

Emily

I think it's time to change my signature....LOL.

Wow, funky new board!

Hi guys! After a weekend of distress at not being able to get on here and post, I have to say it was worth it - this is fab! I have been playing with all the options and changing lots of things and I am pleased to say you will all be added to my buddy list as you post (I will add everyone who posts here!). Only thing I haven't worked out yet is how to subscribe to different forums ...

So, how was the weekend? Mine was good but busy. A friend I hadn't seen for ages was here to graduate her PhD so we all went out for dinner (Indian) on Saturday night ... Friday we had been out to celebrate another friend submitting his PhD and getting a job ... I made lots of good decisions, including burger and chips BUT NO ICE CREAM and diet coke over beer. And at the Indian I branched out from Tandoori chicken (amazing at only 6 pts!) and got a lamb and pumpkin dish that was delish. Then on Sunday I had an athletics match (track and field). 4 hours sitting in a field in the freezing cold. Not fun, but it has inspired me to start training properly again.

Ali - less than 10lbs to goal? That's incredible! You will post us photos when you get there, won't you? And re: the career thing, I think one of the best things these days is that a career doesn't have to be for life and people are beginning to recognise the value of transferable skills. So do what makes you happiest!

Emily - you're incredible too, within 20lbs of goal. Keep us up to date on how the self challenge goes, won't you? I looked at it but since I'm going to be abroad for the next 6 weeks, I don't know what facilities I'm going to have. If I can, I'll join in too though.

Julie - that sounds like an ace weekend. What movies did you see? I saw Traffic last night in the cinema and it was incredible. Really absorbing. And lots to think about, which is always a bonus. Benicio del Toro has the most incredible face, not gorgeous but compelling. Anyone else seen it?

And for everyone who's also waiting for Bridget Jones ... I saw the trailer last night! It looks fun! But I read this morning that Renee Zellwegger won't sign up for another one because she hated having to gain a stone for the part. I have no idea why they didn't cast someone who's a normal size like Kate Winslet or someone in the first place. But I am willing to give Renee the benefit of the doubt and I am soooooooo looking forward to seeing the film. For those who haven't, read the books!!!!!!

Anyway, better post this so I can go and see what it looks like (am I sad for being so excited?!),

lots of love,
Lolly

hello all! i'm back from a fab week in the lake district. didn't get to do fell walking because of the foot and mouth crisis, but we learnt to sail and did some walks/trails (usually to pubs!). there was lots of snow but lots of sun, so it felt like being in the swiss alps. lovely. sad to be back at work!! esp cos one of my computers is dead and so i can't access my email! :(
anyhow. i have a week's worth of posting to catch up on. will hopefully make it back on later. hope you are all well, i missed hearing all your news.
oh lolly - ta for invite to things. can't make it i'm afraid, and as soon as i can get my email to work i'll rsvp. hope the launch goes well though.
love kirsty

Trish O 03-05-2001 09:39 AM

Grace, Grace 03-05-2001 09:49 AM

Monday Monday, I had an O.K. weekend WW wise. I went over points a bit but considering my weekend I am not disappointed in myself. I WI on wed. so I can make up for being a bit over points. I hope!
Sat. Night I had my Aunt and Uncles 50th wedding anniversary and they are hispanic so we had amazing Mexican food! AHHH! I loved it but I didn't overeat like I usually would have. I even left the cake. THis is miraculous for a sweet tooth like me. I also danced my butt off (I wish :)) for an hour so that was good exercise.
I did alright yesterday, however last night I went and saw "The Mexican" with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt and snacked on Reeses Pieces and Skittles with my friend. She and I are not good for one another in the eating dept. We actually started WW in Sept. together and it didn't go well. That is why I am starting again. Wed. will be my first WI. Anyways the movie was O.k. I am in love with Brad Pitt and he looked amazing so that alone kept my interest. It was good but not great.

Ali. Wow I cannot wait to be 9.8 pds from goal. You have made such an accomplishment! CONGRATS! You are an inspiration!!!!! AS far as the carreer thing goes I understand. I am the queen of indecision. Good Luck!

Lolly - sound like you had a jam packed weekend! Don't you just love indian food! I am obsessed!!
That's it I am running out to buy a copy of this Bridget Jones book. YOu all rave about it. When is the movie due out?

Emily- Don't sweat the weekend they are rough. You have come a long way baby :)

Hi to everyone else who posts today! I'll check in later!!!
This is more like a letter than a post but it was a long weekend!

Kirsty 03-05-2001 10:05 AM

For those who were asking:

Foot and mouth disease is a highly infectious virus which affects cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and deer and can be fatal.
It doesn't affect humans and it has no implications for the food chain (allegedly).
Most of the countryside in the UK is out of bounds at the moment, until they can contain the virus. The incubation period is 14 days so there will need to be 14 clear days without a new case before they can say it is under control. At the moment there have been about 70 cases in the UK, and thousands of animals have been slaughtered. They aren't sure if the virus has peaked yet.
If you want to know more about it then http://news.bbc.co.uk/ or www.newscientist.com will no doubt have lots of info...

Hey everyone! I don't know if I'm posting or replying!
I'll play around with it tonight.
I was bad this weekend, but not too horrible! No excercise, so I'm hitting that today! AND going to the gym tonight, with or without my fiance.
I hope everyone has a good Monday! I'll lurk until I have time to post properly!

Belle2000 03-05-2001 11:07 AM

Hi girls...wow, this is different! I like it...

Ali - that is so cool about being so close to goal....I am proud!

Lolly - trie dto get that book on the weekend but it was sold out - must be big here too!

Oh well...

My weekend was not so stellar - I was over a few pts every day...I had fun though...bad, I know.

I better sign off quick and get some work done, I'll check in at lunch!!

Belle

Lolabooey 03-05-2001 11:48 AM

Happy Monday, Girls!

WI tonight... yikes! I had a dinner party this weekend which was fab, but way too much food leftover. So we'll see the damage tonight. It's important for me to weigh in regularly (i.e. more than once a month) because I still think that my old habits could creep in easily enough.

Congratulations for everybody that is so close to goal!!!

I'll check in later. :)

Another disastrous weekend! We did go shopping at Sam’s club and I bought yogurt, pickles, low fat lunch meat etc. Really want to get back on track. Only got the dog out for a walk once (bad) and didn’t bother counting points. OK, so where is this Self thing? I’d like to check it out. Anything to motivate me!

Kay: My husband’s family is all boys as well. There is one niece among 8 kids so far. It’s funny though b/c my hubby is 10 years younger than the 4th of 5 boys. His mom is convinced he is going to have a girl b/c he’s been the one that’s always done things differently. I told him too that we are going to have a girl, so he’s outnumbered! Hehehehehehe.

Belle: So what happened with b/f?

Gotta run for now! :D

2001ismyyear2shine 03-05-2001 12:21 PM

Hi all,

I really like the new board ! It's so cool....I've added you all to my buddy list... Not sure what it does yet...

As for my weekend...I watched movies on TBS....they kept replaying them all weekend...I would doze during one...and catch what I missed later....it was really relaxing...I was such a great weekend...I did nothing !

I'm tired today though....it's still raining here in CA....I love the rain, only if I can stay home in bed !

I did ok foodwise, but it could have been better...didn't drink my water or exercise...

I started the Self challenge today...I will give you my results later Jen....after I go to the gym :-)

I hope all is well with you all...have a great day !

Julie

Brenda N 03-05-2001 12:27 PM

OK, I replied before I realized I hadn’t read today’s posts! I love the new look of the forum!

Ali: I am so excited for you! Only 9.8 pounds?!?!?! Wow!!

Lolly: That part about Renee Zellwegger not wanting to have to gain weight for the film just cracks me up! We can all appreciate where she is coming from!

Kirsty: Welcome back, we missed you!

Trish: We need to think of a team name for the two of us!!! Team Persistence? Team Plateau? Team same 20 pounds up and down for 2 years??

Wazzup!!! to everyone else!! Happy Monday

OK, something just wierd happened! I normally cut and paste so I can read and reply offline. It won't let me left click anymore so I have to use the menu options on the tool bar. When I do right click on the reply screen, it shows you this cute little yellow creature with a green hair and antenna's and is kissing at you! No, I'm not halucinating. Anyone else gotten it or know what why how???

Debbie23 03-05-2001 01:32 PM

How the heck does this work? :)

Well, I'm here in NY waiting for this major storm to hit. I did make it into work today, unlike all of my other co workers! And I live the furthest away from this place. Go figure ...

What's bothering me is that I went to WW on Sunday AM - my usual meeting and my WI disturbed me. Now I know I haven't been OP ... but I've done worse damage. The scale said that I GAINED 6.8 lbs ... is that HUMANLY POSSIBLE to do in one week? I was devasted to say the least. I did run a 4 mile race on Saturday morning, and I did eat after work that night (past midnight) ... so I don't know. I feel like a ... a ... a ... I don't know what! I'm trying so hard ... it's difficult, but I can't seem to stay on track for one day. Or I'm good all day long and I loose it when I get home, or after dinner and definitely middle of the night. I need to stop the insanity!!!!!! So I'm going to keep track this week and see what the scale says.

I'm am trying to get out of the office early, since no one else is in. I'm going to sign off for now!

Maybe I can get home and go for a walk!

Thanks for listening!

Debbie

Hi everyone! I was really thrown back by the new look. I think I like it though I need to look around.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and had a nice weekend. I went to see Wedding Planner with a friend and loved it! It was a great story :) I ate over points on Sat and Sun but only by 8 and 5 each day so I am ok with that. I also managed to lose 1.2 pounds this week too. I still have 7 more to go to get back to where I was in December. Very frustrating.

Ali - You are doing great! Keep up the good work and you will get to goal soon.

Julie - Movies all weekend sounds kind of nice. I watched the movie of the Kennedy wives on TV last night. I like stuff like that.

Brenda - I hope that you recover from the weekend. At least you got some good food to get you started.

Lola - Good luck at WI!

Belle - don't worry about going over points by a little as long as it was worth it. I get annoyed with myself when the points are wasted or I didn't mean to. I was over this weekend but ok.

Stacey - Get to the gym and you will feel much better. Put the weekend behind you and you be back on track.

Kirsty - Welcome back! Glad you had a nice time. I hope you didn't hit too many pubs while you were gone. sounds like a fun trip.

Grace - Sounds like you had a great weekend. the party sound slike fun and I love Mexican food! It is a major weakness for me. Sound slike you were in control, good for you!

Trish - Good attitude. I hope you are ready for an OP week.

Lolly - You did really well on food this weekend, I am so impressed. I could never pass up ice cream! I am looking forward to Bridget Jones Diary too, though I haven't read the books.

Emily - I need to look at the self challenge. Maybe that would help me lose the rest and get to goal!

Have a great day everyone. I am going ot play around on the site for a while.

Hi everyone! This is a cool format. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to post a lot today. Had a really bad food weekend, but it tasted good! Mainly beer is what put me over. Oh well, I'll just go on from here. I plan on starting the challenge tonight. I'll probably only do the treadmill for a while, but at least its a start. I have WI Wednesday and I can catch up by then. Congrats Ali on being so close to goal. I think we have about the same to go! Race ya! (just kidding). I have a new goal now...My folks are paying for me and my DH to go on a cruise with them. I am so excited, but that only gives me 8 weeks to get to goal. I'll try.

Anyway I have way too much work to do. I'll catch up with everyone later.
Kay

Belle2000 03-05-2001 02:36 PM

Debbie, I can totally understand where you are coming from......My problem is that I do good all day and then my b/f wants to eat crap for dinner, and even though I try to make good choices, it can be a challenge! I know the late night cravings too, esp after work - I used to serve tables until 4am and you are STARVING by then, so you want to eat, but then yu just go to bed after and end up gaining weight. I think 6 lbs is pretty high, so you must have been retaining water as well, that is my guess!! :) Hang in there, this week will be better - we are on the Shape thing, right? Together!

In keeping with that theme, I went to WI and I was only down .6. I was not happy, since I was very good and I exercised, but it must have been eating at the top of my range that did it, so this week I'll try to eat at the bottom of my range and see how that goes....I hope better! I really think I have reached a plateau and I hate it.

HELP???

Hello to the rest and a special hello to Kim!! I am swamped today, so I better mosey and write later...

WOW, so many posts. I was super busy this morning, I didn't get a chance to check in. Nice new board... although I am not sure why some of the treads show flames and others don't. Guess I better do some checking!!

GOOD LUCK ALL YOU SELF CHALLENGERS!!! I totally forgot we are starting today, and I am the one who started this whole challenge! I told you I was busy!! I better get some exercise in!

I had WI on Saturday and gained 1.8. I was shocked! I have no clue what happened! But I am on track now and better get a loss this week. I feel like a HUGE yo yo!!! I am getting frustrated. Everyone says it is so easy to lose after you have a baby. I don't think so!

This morning Emma had her 4 month check up and shots. She is doing WONDERFUL!!

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone. I am swamped at work! I'll check in again later hopefully!

GET MOVING ALL YOU SELF CHALLENGERS, WE CAN DO THIS!!

1busymomma 03-05-2001 04:07 PM

Jen-

The reason it has flames on the folders is because it means it is a hot topic. A hot topic is signified by 16 or more posts. Just thought I would let you know.

I am still doing well. it is 1:30 and I am only at 10 pts! I am very pleased with myself. I am starting to get a little hungry so I am going for that orange in the fridge. :)

Well, gonna run, like I stated the orange is calling for me! Keep it up girls we are doing GREAT today!!!

Emily

StaceyT 03-05-2001 04:46 PM

Hey everyone! Well, so much for going to the gym tonight. My fiance's cousins are moving to Italy to be Missionaries for 2 years. Their "send off" is tonight. So, we're driving to Tulsa (about 1 1/2 hours) tonight. I walked at lunch but ate first and ended up with pretty bad stomach cramps. I had to stop walking. Yuck!
Oh well, I'll hit the gym extra hard tomorrow. I have a closing in a town about 2 1/2 hours away tomorrow, so I probably won't be online too much until the evening.
Have a great afternoon and evening everyone! I'll be back sometime tomorrow!

Attack of the killer chocolate!!

Must strangle boss for keeping candy on her desk Milky Way’s will be my undoing. I’ve actually done well today besides those Milky Way. Bad me, I have not kept track of how many I’ve had. But have eaten breakfast and lunch, wrote it down and am at 14 points. A little higher than I would like, but we’re battling the major munchies here. I did buy pickles yesterday (Trish, was that your suggestion? Whoever it was thank you!) but forgot to bring them to work. I think I also left one of my secrets for curbing sweet cravings at home. Strawberry low fat yogurt mixed with Cool Whip Free and then frozen (it’s good just mixed together as is too). I’m pretty sure I took it out of the freezer and left it laying on the counter. Only got 4 hours of sleep last night so my eyelids are screaming for a nap.

Debbie: That gain has got to be some bizarre act of nature (ie water weight?). Don’t get too upset about it. See what happens next week and make adjustments from there. I’m so impressed that you can run. The funny thing is, my puppy has legs long enough that he wants to go faster than I can walk (even at a brisk pace) so I hate to admit I have done some jogging with him. This coming from the person who hates jogging/running! I’m going to be in trouble when he is full grown. It’s called rollerblades on a flat surface (no brakes as my rollerblades are hockey style).

Sarah: We WILL beat those recurring pounds!

Belle: Remember you are gaining muscle too with working out! Maybe try eating towards the middle of your range. That’s less extreme than going from top to bottom of range. You can do it!

Is no one going to fill me in on the challenge? I feel like a little lost chick!!

What happened to the smiley menu? :(

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” – William Shakespeare

Hi all! I've been playing around here reading all the posts and I need to be on the treadmill. It's TOM and all I want to do is curl up with a heating pad but I heard exercise is good for cramps. But other than that I feel great, went through summer clothes last night and nothing fit!! Yeah! I'm going to walk now but I'll be back to post to everyone later.

Sweater Girl 03-05-2001 05:20 PM

Afternoon All,

I am feeling kind of draggy today. I am scared I am getting sick. There's also suppose to be a snowstorm today so I am not happy about that.

Julie: Sounds like you had a good weekend!

Emily: That's so wonderful about you being close to goal as well!! I personally haven't weighed what I weigh now since I was 12. That was 11 years ago!!!

Lolly: Whenever my brother actually sets the scanner up (he has the software for it at his apartment), I'll send some pics. I just had some pictures done this past week and they should be ready around April. I also have some before pictures already which I will scan.

Kirsty: My parent's may be cancelling their annual trip to Britain due to Foot and mouth. They always stay on farms, so if there's another outbreak they'll have no where to stay (they have been booked to stay at the various locations for about 5 months already).

Becky: I actually started WW on my own and then some of my friends and my mom joined in. Yet we all go to different meetings and even though we support each other, for each of us it's an individual journey. I am glad you rejoined WW though, it's worth it!

Lola: My leader says she often weighs in more than the once a month. That's good though, how is the leader training going?

Brenda: Is Sam's Club like a Price Club grocery store?

Debbie: It is probably water, maybe there was a lot of sodium in the food you ate this weekend. Next week I am sure you're weight will be down!

Sarah: yeah I am getting used to the forum as well, but I think the changes are good though!

Kay: a Cruise sounds like so much fun!!

Belle: I find I am a middle of my range eater. Currently I am eating 23 points daily. I can relate though to the restaurant thing. Two of my friends are watching their weight but everyone else isn't (and most of them are male), so they often want to go to the high calorie places. Avoid East Side Mario's everything there is fattening it seems, even their salads.

KO: we all have days like that, remember they pass and then you can return OP. Good Luck!

Jen-L: I am glad Emma is doing well (I love the name Emma!).

Stacey: Wow, missionary work in Italy, that's awesome!

People viewing the thread: Hi y'all! Welcome to our thread, feel free to post! Also if I have missed anyone, my humble apologies.

Take Care!!

Girls:

Its half an hour to the end of my work day and I am having a crisis. Its called - b/f just wrote and asked me to be a reference for him - for a job in Vancouver. I was sickened. I said yes...but I am so scared he will leave me, and yes, I know that he is not the greatest decision maker in the world, and I should look out for me and my austerity plan...but this sort of threw me for a loop - its real now!!

That is scary for me.. ....I think I am stil numb from being asked. Good thing we are taking tonite off so I don't have to try to be cheery when I am not.

SIGH.

Sucks to be me. Sometimes I feel likeI never get ahead. who says staying single isn't smart???

Belle

1busymomma 03-05-2001 07:02 PM

Belle: Look on the bright side,he might not even get the job........Take it one step at a time right now. Hang in there!

Ali: I am pretty proud of where I am currently at, have not been at this weight since like 6th grade and that's like 12 years ago, can't really remember and can't focus on math with a foggy head. I just woke up from a much needed nap.

Well, gotta run, I am still doing great on the SELF thing. I'll check in with you all later.

Emily
