Janie,
I'm glad to hear that you're continuing with the counseling in spite of the pain that may accompany it. You know you will be stronger and at peace when it comes to an end. Don't sweat the chili, you'll do well the remainder of the week :D

Donna,
Yes, Benihana's is a Japanese steak house. Very cool w/the chef at the table, I could get used to that :)
Saying a prayer for your husband's safe flight. These are scary times.
The spaghetti & meatball thing is aggravating, isn't it? I've got a recipe for meatballs that I love. It does use red meat, so it's probably not very point-friendly. One of these days I'm going to put it into my recipe program and figure out the exact point value. Who knows how WW determines that many points; our own homemade may come in at much less...at least that's what I'm hoping!

Es,
I know how you love oriental food, hope you like the new place. I don't like fish, so I usually will only eat shrimp. It makes Joe just shake his head; he can't understand it cause he LOVES seafood. Every time we eat out he orders seafood and makes me try a bite. I did like fresh mahi mahi, tho.

Terri,
How are the kids? Even tho they were all so ill, I bet you liked having them home with you. Hope they're feeling better.

Did the 2 mile WATP today; I don't know how to count the activity points for that. I don't want to say it's a brisk walk, probably should count it as moderate. All I know is that I do work up a sweat and am huffing and puffing! So I counted it as 20 minutes of moderate walking, for 2 points. Can't wait for it to become easier. I loved the feeling when I "graduated" from the 1 mile to the 1 mile.

Joe's working late today, it's an excellent opportunity for me to get some points banked by having a Lean Cuisine and salad for dinner :D .....and then soak in the tub!

Hi:wave:

Janie, your therapy is painful but it's better than holding it all in. At least you're getting help. {{{{{ Big Hug}}}}}

Jen, I hate fish! Pete's the one that got all happy when he saw the salmon. He loves seafood. I'm just like you, I only eat shrimp & tuna fish(sometimes). Dave is just like me, won't even try it.

Donna, don't you feel great after exercising? WTG;)

You too Jen.;)

Hi, Dianne, Sandy, Zoe:flow1: Terri & Ruth. Hope I didn't miss anybody.

Hugs,
Es

My hubby made it fine. So, I am relieved! :)

Es, yes it felt great after I exercised today! :strong:

Janie, not knowing your situation I gather from what you said that you are dealing with some demons. I admire you for getting the help you need and it's those other's problems if they can't handle it. You are the stronger one for sure and I hope that the session today and the ones following will be a relief not too painful. Sometimes facing up with some things can really be hard, but sometimes we need to to tell them to leave us alone. Much  to you! :grouphug:

And I have to join the group that loves seafood. I do love seafood. I don't like the fish that smells fishy though. Does that make any sense? :D

Well, my daughter is sick. When I picked her up from school she was complaining of her throat hurting. This evening she could not eat and she's running a temp. She is also acting sooooo sweet. Too bad this only occurs when she is sick. :^:

I have done better with my points today and also had some plus activity points along with that. But, I've learned it's to my advantage not to go below my points and at least stay in the upper range. It's hard to understand that in order to loose you have to EAT! ;)

Jen, I like you LOVE and could get used to that service very quickly at the japanese restaurant. Sounds very good what you had. You made me hungry reading about it! :T

Have a good evening, ladies. Talk to you tomorrow.

Jenny523 02-12-2003 08:22 AM

 I'm dealing with a stupid decision I made last night....Joe ended up not working late after all, was home early. I still had my lean cuisine and salad, and in spite of the fact that we had some wine, I did not go over my points for the day....until he pulled out the leftover banana cream pie (which is his birthday cake) and I had a piece...resulting in going 7 points into the hole!
I know the wine contributed, lowering my will power/inhibitions. This is disturbing, as I just had the week of no loss, don't want to start a pattern here.

Live and learn. Now I've got to exercise every day for the remainder of the week, instead of every other day.

I WILL have a loss on Monday! There's no way I'm starting off the 10 in 10 Challenge with a gain.

later......

Hi Buddies,

Terri, I hope your family is all well now, do the kids have February vacation coming up?

Es, I am another seafood lover, as long as it is fresh, I would be there for the salmon.

Janie, I am in your corner for the counselling, I went a few years ago after feeling really bruised by lots of life events. I believe that good work done with a therapist really has a lasting effect and that it deepens your inner resources even after your sessions are completed.

Jen, I am so glad that you are on track with your motivation, I am still struggling, and seeing everyone so determined here is helping me to get back to the program.

Hi Donna,
My name is Sandy, I just turned 50 in December, I have been married to a great guy, Mike for 26 years, and I have 2 sons, Dave(21) and Greg (almost 16). I have lots to lose about 60 lbs, but I am ever hopeful that I will do it here.

I am trying to get back on track little by little, it is amazing how easy it is over time for the long term bad habits to invade. I know that persistance is what matters most, not following the program perfectly. (but of course that wouldn't hurt):halffull:
I am starting out by choosing a good breakfast, high fiber cereal with skim milk, instead of a bagel and cream cheese. For supper I am making interesting new recipes from Cooking Light, but being careful now with portion size, no seconds. I still have to get back on track with my lunch choices, and appropriate snacks. I would love to hear details of how all of you are making your choices. It seems as if Lean Cuisine may be the fallback for easy point control.

Determined to join the challenge,:grouphug:
Sandy

Great attitude Jen. A amaintain is way better than gaining. 7 points in the hole is better than 20 in the hole. As long as you stop right away it will all be fine. That is the way to work this program. I love those Japanese Steakhouses. They are so much fun. Glad Joe had a great birthday.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. I DID ENJOY the kids being home. I missed it when they went back. We just chilled in the afternoons. I had a headache that last 26 hours and a slight fever and since the headache went away I think I am getting over whatever I had. I hope.

Donna,
I am so glad your dh is ok. I saw where they closed some exits to the St. Louis airport today. This is so scary. I am so glad my husband didn't have to go. He was in Washington DC just recently.
I hope your little girl feels better.
I hate when I am shocked at points after I ate them. I have been there. As long as you stop right away you are doing great!!!!

Es,
Tell Pete HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :hb:
I bought a Leslie Sansone DVD. I will try it tomorrow. I am still a little weak today. Have you ever done one of her tapes?

Janie,
I am so glad you are getting help. Noone should go through life with weight on their shoulders. Everyone deserves to be happy.

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terri

Hi Sandy. We must have posted at the same time. great to hear from you again.
Good luck. I have decided to cut out a lot of junk carbs during the week and get a few fives in on the weekend. Not a lot but just to satisfy me. For lunches I have half sandwiches or soup and 1/2 cup cottage cheese with splenda and then microwaved. I didn't know if I would like that but it is so good. Boca burgers are also a favorite. I do open faced. For my salads I use good seasons italian. I measure the dressing cause to me it is worth it not to use lowfat dressings. I just love the Good seasons Italian. It has always been my favorite.
I have been using Lean Cuisines more now too. It seems so easy to control.
Glad you are back. :D
Terri

So very nice to meet you, Sandy! It's so nice to have this isn't it? A wonderful circle of new friends from all over the U.S. that we could of not ever known if it wasn't for this! I feel so honored in meeting each of you. :) :flow2: Together we will do this!

Terri, I sure hope you feel better. ;) I get migraines often and so I can empathize with you on those headaches! :headache: I am glad your children are better. :dancer:

Jen, PLEASE don't be so hard on yourself! Because you are aware of what it COULD lead to you will not fall into that pattern you were speaking of! We all slip up and thankfully when we are given another day we can make it up. We have ten weeks of this so don't beat yourself up for ONE day of the whole duration! :drill: Ok, enough of my :soap: box! You know what I'm trying to say, right??

Elena was sick most of the night last night. This morning she had a temp of 100 and she is home from school needless to say. I have loads of towels and stuff to wash from last night and I don't think I'll be making it to my Pilates class today! :?: Oh well. I felt so bad for my Elena. I know she is miserable.

I was tempted to step on the scales today but will wait till Monday. :o

Es, Dianne, Sandy, Zoe, Ruth, Terri, Janie and Jen please have a great losing day!

Talk to you all later.

JanieD 02-12-2003 01:21 PM

HI Donna,
My reason for counselling is that I was severely emotionally and somewhat physically abused growing up. The emotional abuse still continues from my mom. She is a very controlling person. This has consequently sabotaged me in other relationships and in my career. I am trying to fix a very broken little girl inside. I must be getting better, 6 months ago I wouldn't have even been able to say that. There was so much guilt and denial. Thank you all for your loving support.

Jen,
I know your upset with yourself for those 7 points. The thing with this program is that if you fall off the wagon today you can climb right back on tomorrow. DOn't let 1 or 2 days/or weeks even, discourage you. Remember this is for life, for your life and health. Joe wants you to be healthy and live a long happy life together:love:

Terri,
Sorry you're not feeling well. Get better soon!!!

Sandy,
For breakfast I have either cereal with non fat milk or an english muffin (2pts) with spreadable fruit (1pt). I have Lean Cousine or WW Smart Ones and a piece of fruit for lunch almost everyday. Dinner is where I eat most of my points. I try to leave 3 or 4 points for an evening snack. One thing I like is Krusteaz Fat free brownies (mix). They are 2 pts and with 1/2 glass of FF milk I still feel like I'm getting a real treat.

Es,
Happy Birthday to Pete :hb: I hope you have great low point celebration:

RUth,
WHere are you girlfriend:?: Hope everything is alright!

Have a great Wed,
JanieD

Hi Buddies:wave:

I'm on my lunch hour so this will be short.

Hi Sandy, glad to hear from you. ;) I always struggle with staying OP but I make it up with exercise. I've been doing well with this challenge. Usually during the week I have a turkey breast sandwich with FF cheese & mayo with fruit for lunch. Breakfast is always protein to hold me for a few hours. I have egg whites with Libby's chicken sausage & 1/2 cup of OJ. Morning snack is an energy bar with coffee & dinner is Lean Cuisine or McDonald's mcshaker chicken salad then another snack in the evening. I always use up all my points. I don't use my AP points, only if I have to.

Donna, I must confess I weigh myself at 3 times a week. I know, I know, I promised I wouldn't but I can't help myself sometimes:o

Terri, thanks for the birthday wishes. We're going to cut a cake on Saturday with my niece. Her birthday is the same day as Pete, 2/13. We're having a small family get together at my brother's house.

Geeesshh, everybody around here is coughing!!! Pete came down with another cold!! I've been doing really well. I only caught the stomach virus.

Well my friends, I'll be back later.

Jen, later okay?

Love you all,
Es

Jenny523 02-12-2003 02:54 PM

Hi everyone,
thanks for the support :D I'm not beating myself up, just putting it out there and trying to learn from it.

Sandy,
I love Cooking Light, but have found that lots of their recipes are higher in points than I would have thought. I go thru each new issue w/my pointsfinder and calculate the points for the dishes that sound good. I cut those recipes out and have a folder bulging with new dishes to try
For lunches I stick w/Lean Cuisines mainly, or low point soups such as tomato, black bean, or the Progresso FF ones, and a piece of fruit.
I have fruit, ff yogurt, a 2 point bar or microwave popcorn for a snack. Then I can have the rest of my points for dinner.
Some days I snack more than others, and have found it's when I don't get enough water.
You sound as tho you're on the right track. Good luck in the Challenge!

Es,
Happy Birthday to Pete! :hat: Awww, hope he feels better and isn't ill for his bday.
I like having protein for breakfast on the weekends, as we tend to not have lunch on those days...it holds me till dinner. (p.s....stay off that scale! just kidding)

Janie,
I haven't tried the Krusteaz brownies, will have to check them out. That'd be the perfect dessert for in the evening..then I wouldn't be grabbing something loaded w/ points!

Donna,
Sorry Elena is ill, sending goodvibes her way :goodvibes: Don't worry too much about missing one class, you'll do alot of running around taking care of her!

Terri,
Which Leslie Sansone tape did you buy? A WATP? Having a headache for that long is awful...take care of yourself :flow1:
I love Good Seasons Italian also...how many points? I haven't had it since going back OP. I'm using a WW oil & vinegar dressing that I love, 1 T for 1 point, plus it's easy to make.

I've just gotta say how wonderful it is to come in here and see all the posts full of support, cheer and confidence! We are going to do it! :grouphug:

~Jen

points 02-12-2003 04:09 PM

Jen,
Good Seasons is 2 points per TBS. I just love the tatse. I do like Kens Italian too. That is less.
I'll get back to you on that Leslie DVD. I can't wait to try it. I need variety.

Hi Janie, Donna, Es, Dianne, Zoe, Ruth and Sandy.
Thanks for the well sishes.
Terri

Jenny523 02-12-2003 04:50 PM

thanks, Terri!
:D

EsRios426 02-12-2003 07:13 PM

Hi Girls:wave:

Talking about dressings, I buy one from Wish Bone that is very good. Only 2 grams of fat. There's another one by Walden Farms, no carbs, sugar free & fat free & it's really good!!! I buy Thousand Islands.

Jen, no biggie about the points. It happens. New day that's what I always say. I stocked up on Lean Cuisines. They were on sale this week. The slimfast bars are really good. They're only 3 pts.

Donna, I hope Elena will feel better soon. Poor baby. :( So many people are sick. Tomorrow & Friday it's suppose to be very cold.

Terri, I hope you're feeling better.:grouphug:

My friends, I'll be saying goodnight.

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes to Pete.

Hugs,
Es
