Thursday Chatters

Hello Everyone,

I thought we were in need of a new thread since our last one was so long. This is a great group and everyone is welcome to join us. Hope to hear from you.

Susan:)

Tina 11-17-2002 03:03 PM

Thanks for starting us off again, Susan.

Niki, how are you doing????

Tammy, are y'all going to your aunt's for Thanksgiving? Does Bob have to work that day? I hope not. What does Tim have planned? I bet he's practicing basketball or something.

We will go to my sister's home and eat with her family and my mother. Then, we'll come home and eat our very own turkey and trimmings. When we all ate at Mother's, she would give me lots of the left-overs. That doesn't happen anymore. And, unfortunately, for the first time, my father-in-law is spending the holiday with his other son. We will really miss him.

Has anyone started Chrismas shopping? I'm just now thinking about it. Wow! It's going to be here before we know it.
This year, I'm going to enjoy each day in December. I'll plan on doing something fun each day---even if it's going to the candle store and looking around or going to Starbucks for an apple cider.

Let's talk!!!!!
Tina

auntie 11-17-2002 03:23 PM

You are very welcome for starting the new thread. When we become to long, I don't like to wait for it all to come up. So I start it for selfish reasons. :)

Believe or not, I have started my shopping. I normally wait until after Thanksgiving to even start thinking about it. I picked up something for both mom, dad and even ordered some stuff for Pat. I still have shopping to do but thought today I BETTER GET GOING! Ugh!!! I don't like to shop but I do enjoy buying for others. I only have until Dec. 11 to get it all done. So guess I'll get busy and knock the rest out soon.

Tina, I like your idea of enjoying each day. I think we all get so caught up in our lives that we forget to stop and smell the roses. We need to count our blessings each and every day. I'm going to start waking up and live each day like it were my last day on Earth, we never know when it might be. I don't want to get to the end of my life and think " I should have ..... or wished I had..... " (by the way, nothing is wrong..... just thinking of things I need to start doing for myself)

Have a wonderful day!
Susan;)

toobuzymom 11-17-2002 08:18 PM

Hi girls, Just letting you know that I am down 38.6 pounds all together still have several to go though. Hope everone is doing well. start-205.8 now-167.4 goal 135

auntie 11-17-2002 08:22 PM

Way to go, Toobuzymom!!!!! Keep up the wonderful work!! Congrats!!!! How have you stayed motivated?

Susan

Tammy 11-17-2002 08:31 PM

Yes, we are going to my aunt's house on Thanksgiving. We are still trying to find a time for my brothers and their families to come here. Thought we had a date, then a hockey game was scheduled for my nephew. The kids are so busy!!

Bob has to work Thanksgiving morning, but should be off before noon. Hope if works out. That weekend I'll be going shopping with my shopping buddies to that little canal town in Indiana where we've gone the past 2 years. We are staying at the same bed & breakfast again. Should be fun.

I can't believe this weekend is gone already!

toobuzymom 11-17-2002 08:32 PM

My motivation is our family photo from last christmas! I was jumbo to say the least. Also each year the senior athletes recognize their parents at their last basketball game, we have to go out on the gym floor in front of hundreds of people and my son will give me a rose and a hug so I just keep in mind how proud I am of him and hope that he will also be proud of me ,not embarrassed because I am so heavy.

Tina 11-17-2002 11:28 PM

I have a strong feeling that your son is proud of you, Toobusymom.
You are doing so good. I just know you like the way you're looking now.
We are getting a photo taken in two weeks. I sure hope I'm not repulsed by the results. I just can't get myself to losing.

Tammy, I hope you come home from your trip with lots of presents. I've got to get myself a list made.

Tina

Tina 11-18-2002 10:33 PM

I could use some help here!!!
 I opened a closet door this morning after hearing a big "thud." Everything had fallen off one of the shelves. It was all these gift bags, most of them for Christmas. (I stocked up last year.) I should have cleaned off that shelf long before now. My cat will have a ball "helping" me.
I don't know if I'll use too many calories cleaning up the mess. Maybe I'll find some unused Christmas cards in there. This year, I'm going to get mine addressed and mailed out early.

Okay, enough about my day----how was everyone's Monday?

Tina

auntie 11-18-2002 10:59 PM

Now that sounds like a fun job and actually something that I need to do myself. However, I will admit my Christmas cards have to be the first ones received. It's some kind of obession I have. I'm in the process of checking addresses and updating them as we speak.
Now don't have to much fun cleaning!!! I'm sure you used a bunch of calories!!!

Susan

Tina 11-18-2002 11:10 PM

Susan, that's funny you should say that about sending your cards first.
We have some acquaintances, who always get their cards out before us. This year I swear that I'm going to try to get ours to them first.

Tina

Nikchu0600 11-19-2002 05:12 PM

Tina, I am doing okay. I could be better with my eating but Im not overeating and snacking like I have been. Now if I could get my butt to drinking my water again.

Thanks for asking.

auntie 11-19-2002 08:14 PM

Hi Guys,
Well I'm right there with you! I've decided that I drink entirely too meany diet dr. peppers. I've had only 1 today. I'm trying to drink lots of water instead. My next step is to cut down on my carbs. I love them and could live on them alone!

Susan

Tina 11-20-2002 03:19 PM

Greetings to one and all-----you can tell I'm getting into the holiday spirit. :)

Once upon a time, I asked if anyone had a low fat fudge recipe. I think someone gave it to me. However, I can't find it. Silly me, I didn't put it into my recipe box. :(
Does anyone know one????

It's soooo beautiful here today. I hope everyone is having a great day.

Susan, stay away from too many of those diet drinks. (I should talk, huh.)

Tina

:flow1:

auntie 11-20-2002 10:49 PM

It was beautiful here too!!! :)

I want to say that Tammy had the receipe for the fudge. I could be wrong. I just wish I had the fudge.

Pat is driving down to San Antonio tomorrow to work on my dad's computer. I'm gonna fly down Sat. and drive back with him on Sun. I'm so excited even if it is for a short period of time. I'm hurriedly wrapping the few presents I do have so I can send them with him.

Have a great evening.
Susan

Tina 11-21-2002 09:40 AM

Okay---
Tammy-- do you have my low fat fudge recipe????? :)

Susan, that is sooooo great that you get to go home, even for a few days. Wow, you get to fly, too. Are you going Southwest?
The one time I flew to SA, I took Southwest.
Have a great time.

Sis, where are you girl? You haven't commented on my review of Santa Claus 2. :D

I'm the busy bee--I am staining a plain old chest of drawers. We bought this thing at Target when my mother was going to stay with us. I'm putting a dark walnut stain on it. So far, so good. I've done the drawers and will tackle the chest this morning.

Oh, read the weigh-in thread for my results. ;)

Tina

maureen kempster 11-21-2002 01:18 PM

Hi

It's been so long since I posted that I posted on the weigh in instead of here. Oh well. Again it's nice to be back & I hope to become a fixture here.

maureen

Tina 11-21-2002 02:55 PM

Welcome back, Maureen!!!!!
It's so good to see you on the threads again.
How is your family doing? Are you still working the same place?
Good luck with losing this week.....and next and next. :)

Tina

Tammy 11-21-2002 07:11 PM

I thought that I had a lowfat fudge recipe, but can't find it in the recipe box. I'll check a couple books that I have later.

What a crazy week! Our school superintendent announced his retirement as of the end of the school year. This morning we had a meeting, and they announced that the HS principal will become the Supt. I think he'll do a good job. Hope he straightens up my principal when he gets into that position. We were all hoping our guy would be leaving, but no such luck. Bummer.

Tim is at a basketball scrimmage tonight. Bob and I went out for supper. Mexican! Yummy. Tried not to overdo it. Tomorrow after school we have the closing on the refinancing of our house. Interest rates were so much lower than we bought the house, we just couldn't pass it up.

Tina 11-24-2002 09:56 PM

Hi, This is the first time I've posted this weekend because of the server move.
Tammy-I hope you can find that fudge recipe for me. :)

Okay, I have to share this poem with everyone.

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP,
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
> >
I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
> >
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL, PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP,
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.

HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

Tina

auntie 11-24-2002 10:04 PM

Hi guys,

I'm back from SA. I had a great trip, it was fast and furious. :) It was great getting to see everyone. The baby is getting so big! Pat and I drove back this afternoon.... we've only been home a short time.

Tina, I love that poem. It's great!!! When you make that fudge, save some for me! :D I want a copy of it when you get it.

Welcome Back Maureen!!!

Tammy, so what do you have in store for this week? I'm sure Mr. Tim is up to something?

Have a great weekend (what's left of it)
Susan

maureen kempster 11-25-2002 11:26 AM

Hi everyone

Well it's the start of a new week & I'm determined to be good. I bought a juicer yesterday(just a cheap one) because I really don't like veggies that much but I will drink them. I just came back from a walk & then went to the exercise room in our apt bldg before I came home. Didn't do too much but they do have a few interesting machines & some weights. If i only knew how to use them!!

The Grey Cup was yesterday & it was played here in Edmonton. Edmonton was in it but lost to Montreal. I guess this game is equivalent to the Super Bowl-I don't know very much about sports but I live with sport freaks. It was exciting though to host the game & have the home team playing.

Well I hope we all have a good week.

take care
maureen

Tammy 11-27-2002 07:02 AM

Maureen, I'm not a sports nut either, except when Tim is participating!! lol He has his first basketball game this Saturday, and I won't be there. I'm going away with my shopping buddies. He said it's OK because he probably won't get to play. He's probably right, but I hate to miss it if he does get into the game.

Susan, this week is pretty calm believe it or not. We only had school Mon. and Tues. No big activities for Tim that I have to be concerned about, just getting him to practice today and Fri. morning.

We're going to my aunt's house tomorrow. It will be nice. I'll be making deviled eggs and green bean casserole to take there.

Tina, no luck on the fudge recipe. Sorry!!

Tina 11-27-2002 04:55 PM

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Tina
:flow1:

auntie 11-27-2002 07:44 PM

Happy Turkey Day!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. We are having a pretty quiet day here.

Went for my pre-op appointment yesterday and class. It took most of the day. I quess it is really going to happen!! I'll be getting a new knee. I'm getting very excited and a little nervous. Not sure why I'm getting nervous but am. I'm actually relieved that it's happening!! :)

Hope everyone enjoys all the goodies tomorrow.

Susan

Tina 11-30-2002 11:40 PM

Hi!!!
I bet everyone is busy having a great weekend.
A question for all our Canadians----do y'all have something like our Thanksgiving and when is it?

I've been totally wiped out today. I woke in the night with that feeling you get just before getting sick. I don't have a sore throat yet but have been sneezing my head off.
I had so many plans for today but did none of them.
I'm still working on staining a chest of drawers. I've got to strip 3 of the 4 drawers and redo them. Yuk! So, if I'm better tomorrow, after church, I'll get outside and strip the drawers.

Larry has been working on the little bathroom. We took the doors off the cabinet in there and got some really neat trim to put on each shelf. He has sanded and prepped it all and will put on the under coat tomorrow. Then, during the week, I can paint the "real" paint. I got a pretty yellow for the walls and an off-white for the ceiling, trim and cabinet.

I'm making this a long post. Hope you can remember all I'm saying. :)

Have a good Sunday.
Tina

auntie 12-01-2002 12:35 PM

Howdy All,

Hope everyone is doing well.

Now Tina, Don't you be getting sick on us!! :) Start taking vitamin C. I don't know if that really works but that is what my mom and aunt always say. So I guess it must do something. How is that chest of drawers coming along?

Maureen, how is Canada? What is the weather like there? Now don't ya'll celebrate Thanksgiving in October?

I'm off to pick up a few things at the grocery store. I made cookies on Friday and Saturday night. So I guess it is officially the holiday season. I always make my Christmas sugar cookies right after Thanksgiving or the first part of Dec. I also made a batch of Monster cookies. They are so yummy! However, I've decided that it is much more fun to eat my little sister's than make my own. Her's are the best.

Have a great day. I'm going to get outside some to see if I can get rid of the blues that I've had for several days. Not sure what that's all about but I have them and I hate feeling that way.

Have a great one!
Susan

maureen kempster 12-02-2002 10:17 AM

Hi all

Tina & Susan, yes we celebrate Thanksgiving the second monday in October.

Today it's snowing a bit but it's not too cold(for Edmonton).

I managed to be pretty good last week as far as food goes but fell off a bit on the weekend. I did walk to work 3 days last week and todays monday so back to the juicing & watching the junk food-mainly sweets.

I hope you all have a great day & will try to post daily

maureen

Tammy 12-04-2002 10:09 PM

Just stopped in to say hello to all! Pretty busy around here, as I'm sure all of you are. I'm trying to be in bed by 10:00 each night (not making it tonight). I'm feeling run down and having sinus problems. I don't want to miss any school so I'm trying to get as much rest as possible.

I'll try to post more soon.

auntie 12-04-2002 10:48 PM

Hi,

Hope everyone is staying warm. It's cold here! BRR!!!!!!

Tammy, take care and don't get sick. I know what you mean about not wanting to miss school.

Maureen, thanks for the info on Thanksgiving in Canada. Someday I would like to make it to Canada.

Tina, where are you girl? Hope you are doing ok.

Welllllll, I'm officially counting down the days! One week from today, I will have a new knee!!! or at least 1/2 of a knee.

Take care!

Susan

Tina 12-04-2002 11:56 PM

Hi,
 I'm here--somewhere.
Susan, it's cold here, too. Now, I know I don't have snow or ice, but, it feels awfully cold. Brrrr..... I wish I was on the beach in Grand Cayman tonight. Ahhhh, it would be so warm and breezy (warm breeze, that is).

Tammy-by all means get lots of rest. This is such a bad time of year to catch a bug. I just heard today that fewer people were taking flu shots this year. ( I haven't had one.) And, there's some town in Texas where the schools had to close for a couple of days because of the flu bug.

Susan, we are with you on your countdown. We know how happy and how much better you'll feel getting that knee repaired.

Sis--where are you??????? Are you frozen?

Kady--you are doing super at your weight loss. Keep up the great work.

Maureen, my hat's off to you for walking to work. Wow, that is something!

We haven't heard from some of our group in ages. I wonder what happened to Dee and Saffista and some of the others who posted a few times. Hmmmm..... :s:

Looks like I'm writing a book.
Everyone stay warm and stay OP.
Tina

Tina 12-06-2002 10:39 AM

Little 'ole me again!!!

I couldn't wait to share with y'all.
I am getting my Christmas present from my husband today-----
it's a treadmill!!!!!!!!

It's a ProForm, if that means anything to anyone. :)
We were at Sears buying paint. The exercise equipment was right there! He saw this treadmill that was on sale for a really low price and asked if I'd like to come see it.
A salesman came over and turned it on for me to try. It's perfect!
It will be delivered this afternoon!!!!
Can you tell I'm excited. :dizzy: Now when it's bad weather, I have NO excuss not to walk. Does anyone have a treadmill? If so, I'll want to ask questions.

It's cold but didn't freeze where we are. the sun is out and it should warm up to 50.

Tina

auntie 12-06-2002 08:08 PM

Tina,

That's a great Christmas present!!! Let me know how you like it!

Well, my day was pretty hectic all the way around. I left school a little early to go to get a manicure and pedicure, planned to go exercise but she ran very late, then I had a friend that was coming by at 5:30. However, my friend had to run to the dr on an emergency. Boo!!! I had a glass of wine and now I'm laying on the couch.... worried about my friend.

Oh well, enough of that.
Have a great evening.
Susan

auntie 12-08-2002 05:51 PM

I'm going to start us off on a new thread!

Susan
