Wednesday's Thread!

Getting it started....

Belle2000 11-13-2002 10:08 AM

For a moment I thought it wasn't Wednesday and I was just insane. These long weekends really screw me up!

Good morning girls!!!

Cat - sometimes a reality check is just what we need to give ourselves a kick in the butt. You go girl!! And hey, at least you were wieghing yourself in a the gym! That's a good sign in and of itself.

well I saw Punch Drunk Love last night - it was very different. I laughed througout but the audience wasnt' too responsive. Me and b/f thought it was great. Tonight is my hair appt with my mom (sad, but we like to get our hair done together...) adn then she is coming to our apt for roast beef dinner I made - totally low fat recipe! Yum....

Excpet for TOM getting me down, I know I've been so good that next weeks WI will pay off! And today I am going to step class too, which is good.

Cat, maybe I'll post my weight too to keep me accountable (not just my #'s down...).

Princess Jihan 11-13-2002 10:17 AM

Morning girls! Ok, so One whole day on point down, the rest of my life to go!!!
:)
how is everyone? can someone please explain something to me?
What are the weights on the bottom of the posts? are they goals that have been reached? want to be reached??
i'm confused.

Belle2000 11-13-2002 10:22 AM

They go like this:

start weight/current weight/goal weight

Congrats on your day OP!! Here comes day #2!!

Princess Jihan 11-13-2002 10:27 AM

ok. well, so i changed my little picture thing. seemed uplifting. and being that i'm starting over, i need all the positive i can get. hmm....so is that a signature line that we can add where it comes up with the weights every post?

Princess Jihan 11-13-2002 10:32 AM

i am just learning so much today! ok. so how do i get a little picture to be added to my signature?

Belle2000 11-13-2002 10:37 AM

Open the smilies page and copy the words beside the image, then paste on your signature in edit mode..... I like your avatar (thats the pic under your name)!

Princess Jihan 11-13-2002 10:44 AM

Hee Hee! this is so fun!! Thanks Belle!

Belle2000 11-13-2002 11:03 AM

Anytime.....where the heck is everyone today? Its already 9am here and most often its busiest in the am (Mountain Standard time that is ).

Guess its just you and me Jihan!

RhubarbJelly 11-13-2002 11:07 AM

Hey Gals,

How are you all today? Things are good with me. My Grandma came last night. I got lucky-I ended up at work until 7:30 so when they came & I wasn't home they went out for supper without me. Good thing too because they ended up going to this buffet where the food is all deep-fried! I got to eat at home what I wanted & I stayed in my points. I'm not sure if the battle is over though. I don't know if they're going home today or not-it depends if they let my uncle out of the hospital today. I hope they do b/c last night my grandma kept going on & on about how the only thing I had to snack on are fruits & vegetables & how she'll have to buy some better snacks if they don't go home today! Argh! With family like this no wonder I've pretty much always been overweight!

Did any of you watch Dateline last night with the story about Al Roker;s weight loss? It was pretty interesting. I was a little annoyed though b/c they didn't talk about how he dealt with eating so little after his surgery or if he ever overdid it & suffered for it with his little stomach. He acted like it was no biggy to eat smaller portions but we're only seeing him months after so how did it go at first? At any rate it was pretty interesting. It amazing that hs lost 100lbs!

Belle, sounds like you're going to have an awesome day! Enjoy it! What's your recipe for a totally healthy roast beef dinner?

Jihan, glad to see you're getting things figured out. Congrats on day one OP (on program)! Take it one day at a time & the next thing you know you will have done it for a week, then a month, & so on! The weight will come off. You can do this!

Hi to everyone else out there. Hope you can stop in to say hi!

Jen-L 11-13-2002 11:10 AM

Hey you two... is today the play on the thread day????

I was in a meeting again this morning... never-ending lately!! And concentrating is sooooo hard for me lately!!

For all you Canadians... we went to see Natalie Macmaster last night and she was awesome. She is from eastern Canada (forgot where) but has Scottish roots (and the area she is from is very Scottish). I thought of Kirsty when she was playing traditional Scottish music, but then she also rocked it up. Oh for those who have no clue... she plays a mean fiddle and has won numerous awards in Canada. She was fun!!!

We go to the theatre quite a bit. My niece is taking dance lessons now and is an angel in the Nutcracker performance this year. Our Nutcracker is nationally recognized as one of the top performances in the US. But we have connections at the theatre and were able to get tickets to see her perform. Emma is going with, I hope she can sit through it.

Enough of my jabber. I am going to lunch with a friend at a new cafe that opened. Haven't heard anything about it so I hope it is good. I had a dream (weird PG dream) that they had a salad bar and all that was on it was cucumbers.... hmmmmm...

RhubarbJelly 11-13-2002 11:16 AM

Jen, I love Natalie McMaster! She is so awesome! She is from Cape Breton in Nova Scotia (which means New Scotland-hence the traditional gaelic music). I get so amazed when she gets fiddling & then she she clogs like crazy! How can she do things at once so well? Awesome!

Horsey girl 11-13-2002 11:26 AM

Good Morning.
So this is an early morning for me. I had to bring my brother in early so I figured I'd hop on and say hi while I wasn't on the clock. Of course, I'm exhaused due to way too much fun last night with my NF :o
And on to another topic...
Jen - I also love Natalie, my ex plays the fiddle so we had a few of her CDs. she's also great on stage - go Canada!
Rina - Your grandmother sounds funny, my grandparents were very proud of my weight loss but whenever I ate there they would make a nice healthy dinner and make sure I had a small bit of dessert (cause you can't deny yourself all the time)
Belle - I've been curious about that movie, I'm not a big fan of Adam sandler but it looks good so I might chance it.
PJ - I'm at day 3 OP. Of course, I haven't had the guts to weigh myself yet to see how much I gained but I'll do that at the end of this week - then I'll change my sig - OK, almost time to start work.

KT

Jen-L 11-13-2002 11:40 AM

KT and Rina, Natalie said she got married 1 month ago. She is soooo cute and full of energy and WAY skinny!! We loved her, even hubby liked it and he isn't into fiddle music (I love it). Wow, does she have talent. I was so tired when I went last night, but made it through and I think it was a sold out crowd, so that is very good!

Since we have several Canadians on here, I thought I would share. And actually I am not that far from the Canadian border... maybe 2 hours.

The Little D 11-13-2002 11:52 AM

Good morning everyone!

I was shocked to see so many posts. I always feel out of the loop by the time I get to check things out.

Jen - Sounds like a great time! Glad to hear you had fun.

Rhina & KT - Congrat's on staying OP! You're doing great!

Hi Belle! How is baby Carmen doing?

I will have an OP day myself - if it kills me. I am shooting for today through Sunday AM (weigh-in). I CAN DO IT!!!

I'm also laying down my moving out game plan - time strategy, what needs to be done where & when, finances, etc. Talk about overload. Ever want to put something on the back burner until you're ready to "deal" with it? That's what I want to do with this. UGH. That and my school work!

Hope everyone is having a great day. I'm feeling a bit under the weather myself, but I'm sure it will pass. This wacky weather is catching up with me.

KO 11-13-2002 11:59 AM

HEy girls am at work so i have to make this quick
Rina I saw the al roker dateline and him on the today show and they stilll didnt talk about his eating which pissed me off as it made me late this am
I will say 1 thing about my sis almost 5 months post op she can eat normal food Alot of low sugar high protien but she does just eat smaller portions
speaking of smaller portions I am one!
I WI today at the health center and I'm down 6 in the 2.5 weeks since the evil scale incident I'm sure some of its water and it really makes no sense as its TOM
does anyone know the pts for stella dora breakfast treats?
bbiab
btw JEn your babys due date is one month before my bday ;)
Love
Kier

Horsey girl 11-13-2002 12:13 PM

Deb - I might have missed it but has he read the note and spoken with you about it yet? Last I heard you left it on the nightstand and when you came back he said nothing.

Jen - My BIL's band was looking for a fiddle player and they sent an e-mail to Natalie to see if she had any suggestions, her mother actually e-mailed them back to say she was on her honeymoon but she would pass the message on when she got back. Now thats Canadian.

KT

Jen-L 11-13-2002 12:14 PM

Hey KO.... YIPPPPEEEE on the loss! A loss is a loss. If you stick to it, it will keep dropping!!!

As for baby's due date.... MY b-day is May 15.... YIKES so it is really close! Emma was actually due on our wedding anniversary, but she came early! And when we first started trying to get PG this time, if it would have happened the first month, the baby would have been due a couple days before hubby's b-day. Isn't that weird! This baby also has the potential of being born on Mothers Day if it is late!

OK, I am off to lunch with my friend. It is cold here today and supposed to snow later in the afternoon and evening!!!

Jen-L 11-13-2002 12:16 PM

OH KT... posting at the same time!!!! The band she was playing with last night was great and they looked like they were having fun! Wouldn't that be cool if she played with your BIL! I would feel so proud for you! She really was awesome and I wish her all the luck. She is touring the US for a bit now, but not sure for how long!! She was glowing last night tho!!!

Grace, Grace 11-13-2002 12:19 PM

Hey girls I have a bazillion things to do but I wanted to check in. I am taking Friday off which means the next two days will be insane. It kinda makes me wonder if it is worth it. OH well!

I did well last night I think. DF wanted Applebees so rather than my Chicken Fajita Rollup and Fries I opted fort he Grilled Chicken Breast and Veggies. I hope it was a better choice. I am going to check on dotti's site. I had bread with it too of course. OHHH which reminds me I need some more protein ideas. I eat too many carbs and not enough protein. I already eat tuna and chicken but I am highly allergic to seafood. I thought that I should find out more about beans and legumes. Anyone have any good suggestions????

I worked out this AM and made the mistake of getting on the scale b/c I felt soooo accomplished. I was up a pd!!! I know that this will happen periodically but I need to keep off the scale b/c that automatically puts me in sabotage mode. You know, Poor Me, I work hard and still don't lose :^: I know it is ridiculous but I have this pattern to then shove a snickers in my mouth  Good news is I didn't. I made egg beaters instead. (Protein :) )
For lunch Wendy's BLT salad. So I resisted but I still need to stay off of the scale. I guess this has just evolved into a pep talk for myself.:dizzy:

Moving on.... Jen- I am completely out of the loop on this Fiddler. I will have to check her out.

KT- What's NF? I have been gone a while. I guess my lingo is a bit rusty.

Belle- Enjoy step class. I miss mine but due to wed. plans and buying a home etc I can't fit it into the budget. I have resorted to using my numerous exercise tapes that I bought and never used to use.

Rina- I looked at the wedding pics. You looked great. Great Dress! It is very old hollywood glamour. Which I LOVE. Someone asked about mine. It is a sheath and it has a draped neckline. Very simple the train just touches the floor in the back and then I am having a cathedral length veil. I cannot wait!!!!

Jihan-Congrats on your OP success!

Hi to all I have to get back to work!

Becky

Oh please give protein suggestions for a non seafood eater :grouphug: Thanks I appreciate it!

Grace, Grace 11-13-2002 12:24 PM

Oops I missed some post during my writing :) Deb-Good luck on the move. You can do it :bravo:

Kieri 6pds!!!!!!!!!! That is amazing. You are the queen!!!

OK back to work

The Little D 11-13-2002 12:38 PM

Thank you everyone for the encouragement. It just gave me such a *boost*!
No he has not said one word about the letter. I guess it's up to me to bring it up. Oh well. Not the way I imagined things unfolding.

The thread really is jumping. Amazing how many posts can happen in a matter of minutes.

Kier - you certainly ARE kicking WW arse! :) I love that word - I couldn't believe that someone else out there used it too. Tee-hee!

Becky - Im sure the chix & veggie was a good choice. Not as much sodium perhaps and/or fat w/ the yummy fajita toppings.
As for protien - good sources other than meat and seafood are legumes. Peanut butter (if you whip it, it goes further & less points - I think Peter Pan makes a "whipped PB" in certain market areas), beans (chili, soup, salads, hummus), egg whites (scrambled, boiled, make an egg salad out of them) and legumes (lentil soup) are all excellent sources of protein. Not to mention tofu and soy protein products.
Good luck - hope this helps. Do you not eat ANY seafood or just shellfish? I am allergic to shellfish, but have found the deliciousness of seafood (tuna, sword, salmon, talipia, sea bass) within the past 2 years. I grew up in a house that NEVER made fish (other than canned tuna) because my mother hated the smell. Now I order it out any time I can.

KT - that's amazing about your BIL. He's almost famous!! I almost know someone almost famous! Wow! :)

UGH ... I've got work to catch up on.

Belle2000 11-13-2002 12:47 PM

KT - that is SO Canadian - very cool story!!

Kier - WOO HOO on your 6 lbs! You should change your signature!

Must run, way busy.....

Grace, Grace 11-13-2002 01:13 PM

Deb- I have never been tested forthe specifics of the allergy. I can eat tuna but other than that I abstain. Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok just had lunch with my coworkers and they are sooooooooooooo negative. I seriously just got up and said "I cannot handle all of this stress during lunch" uhhhh They are all kind of edgy with me b/c I was asked to be on this task force and I am young blah blah blah. I think they are all annoyed b/c I was the only one from thsi unit that was chosen. It drives me nuts. One of them just cornered me and asked me who else was involved in it. I graciously answered her and then asked her why she wanted to know and she clammed up pretty quick and indicated that she and another coworker were "curious". I guess it is more the way there saying things rather than what they are saying. Oh well.

Thanks for letting me vent!
Becky

Horsey girl 11-13-2002 01:43 PM

Becky - NF is my "new Friend" who I am currently in a casual, but fun relationship with. And I'm greatly enjoying fun without the stress of a relationship so it's all good. - I'm big on refried beans for protien - I love mexican foods.
Deb - I think they just e-mailed her through her website they don't really know her but his band has a website too, www.blackthornband.com - he's the base player with the glasses. They do traditional celtic type stuff - they're very fun. I find it amusing because my sister (who's married to him) is not musical in any way shape or form (she may be tone deaf) - but they're in love.

Hi keir - way to go with the loss!

KT

KO 11-13-2002 02:06 PM
