Thursday Chatters

It's a new week in August and time for a new "Chatters."

All those who weigh in on Thursday, come join this group. Of course, many of us aren't Thursday weighers anymore. If you like what you read, please post here.

Tammy and Susan, did y'all have good first days at school?

Kady, when does your school begin?

Dee, How does your daughter like her class this year?

Sis, I hope your mother and brother get better soon. My prayers are with you--always.

My father-in-law has been with us since Thursday night. He leaves to go home in the morning. Needless to say, I'm wiped out!!!! And, I am sure I've gained a couple of pounds. After he leaves in the morning, I'm starting back exercising.
Susan, how is your exercising going? Are you still enjoying it?

Hope everyone had a good Monday.
Let's hear from everyone, okay!

My kid hates school :) and home work... and so do I unfortunately! We just had our 1st homework battle, and needless to say... she is taking it to school in the morning not done. Nothing new there though. I think homework should be illegal. If I wanted to home school I would, but I dont want to... Im sure the teachers on here will have a different view then me, but that's ok. Ok I'm done complaining for now *S*.

Tina was your father in law just visiting you this week? Having house guests can really tire a person out... hope you get plenty of rest in the next day or so.

On the brighter side... I get to go pick up some new furniture tomorrow... now where to put it as I didnt get rid of the old as I had planned to.. LOL. Guess I can just stack it on top of each other. What else is new... I made another appt with the Doc. gonna go next week and get a cortison shot for my heel spur.. as it seems to only get worse... that should be funnnnn... :cp:

Hope everyone had a good day... it can only get better as the Monday Morning Blues are history!! *S* Have a good Tuesday!!!
Dee

Tammy 08-20-2002 06:47 PM

Tina, my first day with students isn't until next Monday. We have a teacher's work day this Friday. I've been going into the room just getting it ready since we won't have time to "work" on our work day because of meetings.

Dee, what grade is your child in? I can't keep up with everyone. My 2nd graders have very little homework during the year. I teach math so my longterm assignment for them is to practice addition and subtraction facts for a while each day if possible. The reading teacher wants them to read each night. Later in the year, I will start sending home a weekly review sheet on Monday that is due on Thursday for math. Since the upper grades give more homework, the 2nd half of 2nd grade I start to get them prepared for that.

Worked at the band booster tent at the fair today, and I'm also working in the morning. 3 people didn't show up, so we ended up staying longer than we had planned. Hated to leave the others without help.

Tina 08-20-2002 11:34 PM

Hi all,

Dee, my father-in-law left today. He'd been with us since last Thursday evening. I cleaned bathrooms today and washed some clothes. Other than those two things, I did rest.

Kady, I imagine getting back to school will help with the weight loss. You won't have time to think about being hungry. :)

Tammy, Sorry I was a week ahead on you going back to school. I completely forgot about the fair. My mind has been a little busy keep my "fil" happy and busy.

I stepped on my scales this morning----:( bad move-----:s:
Tomorrow I start eating lots of 0 pt. veggie soup. :)

Susan, how are you doing?????

Tina

DeeX 08-21-2002 11:53 PM

Tammy, my daughter is in 3rd this year. The 1st 2 days of school she didnt have homework, but the next 3 days she has. The school sends homework home every night except Fri at this point. Last yr in 2nd grade she had 1 to 3 papers each night. Last night and tonight she did her work with out much complaint :faint: ... it was easy, no thinking involved.

Tina, glad you got a little rest the other day. I bet them scales were just having a bad day, is why they didnt say what you wanted them too *S*

Here's a cute smiley... :hypno: now we can all hypnotize ourselves into being OP daily!! LOL..... think it will work?
Hope ya all have a great Thurs... its down hill from here this week... good luck to any one w/i this week still...
Dee

Tina 08-23-2002 12:16 PM

It's Friday and I'm soooo glad :D It's time to sleep late and enjoy being with my husband. He's planning on working outside around our house. Maybe I'll just go from room to room and look out at him. There are still too many mosquitoes outside.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend?
We will probably go to the movies. I've been wanting to see Signs. That should scare some pounds off of me. :)

Exercise-----how is everyone doing? Yesterday and today I walked one mile (each day). I'm sooooo proud of myself. If I keep that up, surely my thighs and hips will slowly reduce themselves.
Don't y'all just love the new smiles!

Have a great day,
Tina

Tina 08-24-2002 11:38 PM

Hi everyone! It's sure quiet around here!!! Since we don't get e-mails when people write, it's hard to keep up with things.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Tina:cool:

auntie 08-25-2002 03:21 PM

Hi everyone,

Ok, I feel like a stranger here since they switched servers. I've been horrible about checking to see if anyone posted. I sure hope that they will send out emails when someone posts.

School is off with a bang!! This entire week, I've been running basically at school. I still exercised 3 times this week too. I plan to keep that up!!!

Have you checked out all of the new smilies. There are now 101 of them. :twirly: Cool

It actually looks like rain out there!! I sure hope it does because everything is getting nice and brown!:rain:

I'll do better about posting. If I don't do if for several days.. someone email and tell me to do it.

Have a great week
Susan:flow2: :flow1:

auntie 08-25-2002 03:25 PM

Hey Look Everyone... look at the very bottom of the page.... you can subscribe to the thread. Let see if it works:cp:
Susan

Tammy 08-25-2002 08:16 PM

Hi all! Sorry I haven't written for a few days. Busy working in my classroom, running Tim places, chaperoning the band again, going to cross country meets, etc.

School starts tomorrow. Oh boy! This is my 26th year of teaching. Hard to believe. It is supposed to be cooler this week, so that will be a blessing.

Not sure when Carol and I will start our after school walking. Hope not this week. I think I'll come home every day and take a nap! lol

Still up and down with the weight. Clothes are fitting better, so I'm taking that as a good sign.
Have a good week everyone!

Tina 08-25-2002 10:19 PM

Hi all,
Susan, I thought I was subscribed to our threads. Maybe that's why I'm not getting any e-mails. We'll see what happens now. Glad school is going well for you. Keep up the good work of exercising.

Tammy, I was thinking about you today. I know you get nervous the first day of school. You will do fine, as always. No, no, no, don't start walking until it's cool enough.

Hope everyone else is doing fine. I will try to write more often, too.

Tina
:goodvibes

DeeX 08-26-2002 12:03 AM

I had to subscribe to this thread tonight... guess with the new server and all it unsubscribed us... WOW there are lots of new smilies... they're all cute, but just looking at them I'm not sure how I could use some of em in a sentence, so I'll just have to throw :tomato: them in where ever!

Hey Tammy, good luck on your first day back at school... you'll do great... think of it this way, the kids will all be the same, just the names are changed to protect the innocence :cb:

Way to go Susan on keeping your excercise up!! Sounds like your having fun at school, even with all the running you have to do.

Tina did you get to go to the movies and watch Signs the other day? It looks scarey on the previews, not something I'd take my kid to see... not sure I'd take me to see it either :)

Well I have a fun and exciting day planned tomorrow :nose: or not... LOL. I'm gonna go and get a cortisone shot in my foot, cause that heel spur is still killing me..ouchy!! Nothing has worked to make it go away. I did get a pair of birks, and they help some, but they make my arch sore, and rub blisters on my arch...LOL I can't win for loosing here. So its shot time again. Had one in Jan..and it helps for a while...told you I was gonna have fun!! :joker:

Well have a good day tomorrow everyone!! Dee

Tina 08-26-2002 10:25 AM

Well, it's Monday--:cbg: --We'd better stay away from this burger. ;) At least, I better keep away from it.

Dee, I'll be thinking about you getting that shot today. Yuk!! I hope it helps your foot/heel.

Okay friends, I'm still not being notified that we have replies. Guess I'll contact Suzanne and see what's up. I'll let y'all know what she says.

I'm definitely not "with it" today. I must get myself in gear. I know what it is, I slept later this morning and just don't have that "zip" to get moving. :( Cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen should work, don't you think!

Everyone stay OP today.
Tina

Tammy 08-26-2002 06:12 PM

Oh Dee! I'm so sorry that you have to get the cortisone shot. I said I would suffer before I'd get another one. Also sorry that the birks didn't work for you. Those saved me.

I woke up at 5:00 this morning with bad cramps. I took some medicine and made it through the first day without too many problems. Maybe my weight will be down on Thursday since I've started. Hope so. Would you believe that for the first time in my teaching career, I wasn't nervous? I think the cramps covered up the nervousness!!!! lol

Both groups of students seemed pretty good today. I have a few chatterboxes, but for the most part I think they'll be ok. I did see some pretty nasty printing. I think I know what we'll be working on quite a bit!!!

I know I do not plan to be up late tonight. Pooed out. We're heading to Wal Mart right now to get supplies for Tim. He doesn't need much.

Tina 08-26-2002 10:55 PM

Evening all,

Tammy, I'm glad the first day went well. Sorry about the cramps but maybe they did keep you from being nervous.
I kind of miss buying school supplies, even after all these years.

Our son is going to move from a 1 bedroom apt to a 2 bedroom one. He has so much stuff that he needs more room. I'm having a very hard time not "helping" him decorate. He has said that I can buy and put up curtains/drapes. In the apt. he's been in for four years, the only curtains are in his bedroom. He has mini-blinds furnished by the management----that's all he wanted up. Hmm....... If only-----I have so many ideas.

I've contacted Suzanne about us not receiving e-mail notification. She's looking into it. She said a few people are getting notified. I'll keep us posted.

Just to keep you updated----
Suzanne says the inability to receive e-mail notification is a flaw in the new server. She's working on it today (Tuesday) and hopes to have it fixed shortly. Yea!!!!!

Hope yesterday was a good one for everyone.

Tina 08-27-2002 09:10 PM

Me Again!!!
I got my first e-mail notification tonight. I hope everyone else is getting theirs.

How did we all do today? I didn't count my points but didn't eat much either. I was frustrated and that doesn't lend itself to food. I'm fine tonight.

Tina

auntie 08-27-2002 09:24 PM

Hi:faint:

We had open house last night. Luckily, I don't have an actual class, so I use that time to get some work done with out a lot of people in there. :) It made today be much smoother.

Dee, :sorry: about the injection in the heal. That sounds real painful. I know it is in the knee.

Tammy, ouch cramps!! I get killer cramps! I am miserable when I get them. Glad you survived the first day of school. Are you exhausted? I am for about the first week or 2 of school.

Tina, I have no children and love to buy school supplies. Maybe I need therapy! :hypno: thanks for emailing them about the emails! I thought I just forgot to subscribe. It couldn't be that easy

Off to read a little, hopefully I can finish this book that I started in July. By the way, I'm on my 5th week of exercising at least 4 times a week. THe scale hasn't shown a loss actually a gain. I get measured at the end of the week. I'll let you know!

Susan :queen: (I just like this smilie)

DeeX 08-31-2002 12:01 AM

I haven't been on line since Sun night... just haven't felt like it. The shot I got on Mon hurt like the  but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. Me thinks it didn't hit the right spot... but I have no real way of knowing. So my foot still hurts... and I can only have a shot like every 4-6 months... at the soonest. Ahhh there goes the walking excercise again :flame: up in smoke!

I agree with Susan, I like smilies... just because!! Did you ever get your book finished? Way to go on that excercising Susan!! You are doing fantastic! I'm sure when you get measured you will see results...

Hey Tina, cleaning that bathroom and kitchen sounds like work, but I have no idea if it will work to give you "zip"... hope you finally got some energy back to finish out the day... and all this week. Did you son get all moved?

Glad to hear school went well for you Tammy on the first.. sorry to hear about the cramps... how did weigh in go for you on Thur?
I wish the Birks had helped my foot too... cause I really don't like the idea of just "deal" with the pain :yikes: boohoo!

Ok I'm done chattering for now... hope all have a good weekend, and great holiday Monday...
Dee

auntie 08-31-2002 08:47 AM

Hi Everyone,
Yea!!!! I got an email notification today!!! I'm so glad! It's funny how I rely on them.
Pat got released to dr. yesterday. He still has to take it easy but he can start doing things lightly. Driving!!!! yea!!!
I'll write more, the dog is barking, have to take her out.
susan

Tina 08-31-2002 12:18 PM

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Dee, it's good to hear from you. That's a bummer about the shot. Did you tell your doctor? I wonder if he missed his target. Hmmm.... Yes, I like these smiles, too.:dizzy:
My son isn't moving for real until the middle of October. The people are still in the apt. for another week. Then, it has to be cleaned. I would love to see the place. Guess I'll have to wait until moving time.

Susan, glad you got your e-mail notification, too. And, so glad that Pat can drive now.

Sis, how are you doing stress-wise?
Kady, keep up the good work,
Tammy, did you survive your week of school? How does Tim like his school?

Everyone have a great day. Does anyone have major plans for Labor Day? We don't have anything going. We might go see a movie tonight or Monday.
Weight-wise, I can't see a change in the scales however, a pair of shorts is looser even after washing. That's a good sign, huh!

Tina
:flow1:

Tammy 08-31-2002 02:49 PM

Sorry I haven't been on since Monday! What a busy week! School, cross country, band at football game, and on and on, right?

The first week of school was wonderful! The kids are great! I walked out with a smile every night.
I talked to some parents at the football game last night and they mentioned how enthused their kids are. Hope it stays this way!!

My weight stayed the same again this week!! Sure would've been nice to hit -10, but -7 is still ok. Maybe I'll set -3 more by the end of September.

I got up too early this morning (4:30). We've been at a cross country meet most of the day. I'm ready for a nappy poo!!!

Sis 09-01-2002 10:07 AM

Tina,
Hi there. Stress wise, weeellll between worrying about mom and the more than normal stress at work its a bit much but I can handle it. With Gods help, of course. My mom as of yesterday was doing MUCH better. I was so happy and surprised. It's like overnite she started feeling like her old self. Not 100 percent but getting there. :rolling: (doing the happy dance :) ) Things are looking up and God willing they will continue. Thanks so much for asking. Hope things with you are going ok. Take care....Sis

auntie 09-01-2002 10:49 AM

Hi,
Hope everyone has a wonderful!

Sis, glad to hear your mom is improving. :cp: Take care of yourself too!!

Tammy, Congrats :goodvibes on surviving the first week of school. I am always so exhausted for the first couple of weeks. Good to hear your class is a good one. I know you are on :cloud9: A good class makes all the difference!

Tina, how are you doing? How's the heat down there?:hot: Hot I'm sure!!

Dee, I never finished my book, but hope to do it soon before I forget what it was about. :twirly: How is your foot feeling? Any better? I'd let your dr. know if it isn't.

Don't know much, but I'm so glad we are getting the notices!

Have a safe Labor day.
Susan

Tina 09-02-2002 06:21 PM

Happy Labor Day everyone!!!!
I hope everyone has enjoyed their day. It's been pretty quiet around here. We worked in the backyard this morning. That was very hot! This afternoon, we went to a bookstore and read the travel books. Then, they have a Starbucks there, we had a coffee for my husband and a frappacino for me.
Tonight we are going to get some barbecue and watch something on television. Nothing fancy, just fun.

Tomorrow I start back in ernest losing weight. It is one month, two days until we take a little vacation. I must lose some so I can buy more slacks and a jacket for the trip.

Tina
:flow1:

DeeX 09-03-2002 12:43 AM

It's hard to believe Sept is already started! The years just seem to fly by any more... LOL

I had a good Labor Day... went to work :) but only for a part day. Then we did the fun stuff. Grilling...eating...even took the boat out (my folks have a small boat) :cp: and the little kids got to go tubbing behind it. I just rode in it. I did however walk a good half mile...if not more today. I walked down to where the boat was instead of driving!!! Yea me!!! :D:

Sounds like you had a nice Day Tina... a nice quiet day too!! That sometimes is even better then a busy, loud holiday. Where you headed on your vacation?

I'm getting ready for another vacation too... only my 3rd one this year...I  to go on vacations! Heading out in 2 weeks to MO for a week. There is so much to do there, I've started a list of things I like to do...and what it costs...that's scary..LOL. But I'll have tons of fun.

How is everyone else doing? Did you all have a good LD weekend? I did notice (around here anyways) the price of gas was down a bit... for those traveling it was a good thing Im sure.

Well Im gonna go read the Sept W/I board...then off to bed.
Dee

Tina 09-03-2002 10:58 AM

Happy "day after"
Boy, it's cloudy/overcast here today. It looks like winter---that is until you step outside into the humidity.

Dee, what are you going to do in MO? What is there to do? I don't know much about that part of the country.
We are going to California. If I had to move, that would be the spot for me. However, my husband works for an energy company and those people aren't very welcome in CA now.

Everyone have a great day@!

Tina

auntie 09-03-2002 09:23 PM

Hi,
Lucky Ducks going on vacations!!:hypno: Take me with ya'll, please :) I'm actually taking off on the 13th to go to San Antonio. It's my Dad's birthday and hopefully my new newphew will have made his way into the world by then. My other nephew is marching in the band for the first time. So it should been a busy weekend.:dizzy: But it will be well worth it.

I worked out today. Sure need to get the food part under control now. I need to focus on that now!!

Sounds like ya'll had a good Labor Day. It was pretty quiet around here but it was nice and relaxing.

Susan

DeeX 09-05-2002 12:23 AM

The majority of the stuff I know to do in Branson. MO is go to music shows... there are tons of em. Also there's lots of water, so we will be doing some boating things...there's even a toy museum... LOL. Not sure what all we will do, play it one day at a time is all.

What part of CA are you going to Tina? I haven't been to CA in a while. I'm with you on that moving thing... I've always said I'd move there...but so far I havent. Course Hawaii is looking better all the time :D :)

Susan, your heading out for a mini vacation too! Guess you fall into that "Lucky Ducks" catagory!! Sounds like you'll be busy.

Have a good tomorrow everyone!!!
Dee

Tammy 09-05-2002 09:06 PM

Can you tell that school has started since I'm not sending messages as often? It seems like I'm not getting much done at all around here. Pooed out. Maybe I'll get back into the routince soon. Hope so!

Tina 09-06-2002 11:11 AM

It's Friday
It's time to party.

Tammy, I've missed all your posts. Please find a little time for us here, okay!

I was down 1/2 pound this morning. I wanted more,,,I always want more.
Exercising is out of the question today. Last night my pinched nerve started bothering me. This thing bothers me like once a year and it picked now. I have discomfort under my left shoulder blade and when I turn my head. I just called my dr. for some anti-inflamatory pills. (I have a PCP who knows me. That's amazing nowadays. So, he'll send me something without me going in.)
There's a tropical storm in the Gulf. It probably won't do anything major. However, I need more bread and batteries anyway. I'll get to the store this morning.

Susan, I'm glad you are getting to go home for your dad's :hat:

Okay, I've written a lot and still haven't addressed everyone personally. Sorry.

Tina
:flow1:

auntie 09-06-2002 06:37 PM

Hi ya'll,

What a week!!:dizzy: I had to take one of the teachers to the ER for stomach problems at the end of the day!! And today, I had to have a conference with 2 grown adults in which 1 was acting like a kid! Of course, she had to say "ok, everything is my fault." I had to bite my tongue and be the professional when I wanted to say "yes it is:p " Sometimes I hate being the Dept chair. Needless to say what a week.:cb: Now it's the weekend!!!

Tina, sorry about your pinched nerve! Ouch, it's not the time to be hurt! Congrats on the loss!! :cp:

I weighed in today, and lost a pound. Now only 5 more to go to be back down to where I was! I also, got measured :stress: I lost a total of 3.25 inches!:dancer:

Better take the barking dog out.:faint: She is barking and driving me crazy.

Susan:flow2:

Tina 09-06-2002 10:28 PM

Susan, what a great weigh-in!!!!!:D
And, those inches gone ----
I hope you have a good weekend. It sounds like you need a long rest.

Tina

Tammy 09-07-2002 06:52 AM

Tina, I hope you are feeling better!!! Ouch!! Good work on losing anything!!!!!!

Susan, great work on the pound and the inches!!

I chaperoned the band and did the announcing again last night. I wasn't as nervous with the announcing as I was the last time.

Not much planned for the weekend. Tim will be involved in an Eagle Scout ceremony tomorrow for a boy in his troop. That's 2 Eagles in the troop in the past year. Someone that I know and love needs to get his act together and get his project done so he can be the 3rd!!!!

Have a great weekend!

auntie 09-07-2002 07:31 PM

Happy Saturday!

Thanks for the congrats on the loss. Honestly, I was hoping to have a greater inch loss, but I'm not going to complain. ;)

Tina, how is the weather your way? :rain: Are ya'll getting any rain yet? It looks and feels like rain here, but I'm sure it will pass us up! Hope you find some water! I've been buying water lately since our water smells like dirt. It does that every summer until we get a hard rain! They say it is algae but it's not harmful.

Tammy, Tim is so close to Eagle Scout!! Wow!!! I'm impressed that you did the announcing!!:cp:

I deceided that I would stay home tonight while Pat goes to play tonight. I'm staying home and resting.

Have a great weekend.
Susan

Tammy 09-09-2002 09:13 PM

The Eagle ceremony yesterday was very emotional. I can't imagine what I'll be like with Tim's! He just received a couple e-mails with lists of different projects that he could do. The man that sent them is offering to help Tim in any way that he can. He is a former Eagle himself. His oldest son received his about 4 years ago. His youngest son should get his in the next year. He is in Tim's troop.

All my papers are graded and I'm ready to go to bed! It's only 9:15. Maybe I'll go to bed and read for a while before I fall asleep. Nighty night!!

auntie 09-10-2002 09:18 PM

I'm going to start a new thread.

Tammy, I come from a family of Eagle Scouts. I know how proud you are of Tim. He will be dissappointed in the future if he doesn't do it, I know because I have a friend who didn't do his project. Today, he is very involved in Scouting but wishes he was an Eagle.

Susan
