Wednesday's thread has far to go

Morning girls!
Wow - the threads have been jumping these past few days - it's great! Except when I've been too busy to lurk/post and there's so much to catch up on!! I might try again later when I've got some free time.
Hello PJ, welcome back Rina (congrats!) and hi to everyone else - old, new or lurkers.
Lisa - 31 is perfect! my BF is 5 years older than me and it really makes a difference in the relationship. sooo much better.
Jen - thanks for doing the running challenge. i can't start it this week but will do so next week, i'll just be a bit behind!! hmm, just like when i'm running with others!
BF is in the Netherlands all week (for work) so i'm going to join him friday night and we'll spend the weekend in Amsterdam. Can't wait!
Gotta go work. the boss is off so we're short-staffed.
Kirsty

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 08:31 AM

ooooohhhhh. I wawnt to go to Amsterdam!?? Even London!! lucky girl!
:)
MORNING everyone! Have I mentioned that I absolutely adore this site?? I was hooked yesterday and slacked on work!
oops!
Anyway. I can totally tell that I am much more positive about things today. OK. I"ll check in later
:)

Diamond7981 07-24-2002 08:42 AM

Good Morning!

Kirsty, do you go to Amsterdam often? I went for a few days, and well.. it was quite an experience! It's really cool, but I was really frustrated I kept getting lost  Also my hostel was, well not in the best area to be going alone at night (of course I didn't realize that when I was booking it!)
Have a great time! It really is a neat place.. like you don't know this already.

Hey girls,
Okay, I have really no good excuse for missing class this morning, except that I was ironing my pants! Okay, so it would've made me late, then I burned myself and well, it just shattered any chance of going. But, I got an 87 on my test! I was so hoping for higher, but I"m still happy.

Went to WI last night, and down 1.6! I was quite happy, especially
after the Domino's excursion! So I'm at 7 total. C'mon baby!

Well, work is pretty cool. I haven't gotten totally settled in yet, but I'm still in training until the position I'm filling leaves on Friday. Then I'll have my own little cubicle (first ever!) and computer. OKay, so you guys are probably thinking, yeah.. whoopee.. but this is my first real job!
Everyone is really nice there, and I think I"ll get the hang of things quickly.

I went to Yoga again on Monday , and I'm planning on going tonight. I really like it, and I love the feeling after we're done. We were doing stances for the second half though, and I was literally like, "I"m supposed to bend how? !"
Tonight is also Abs and back class. Ah, I'm excited!

Okay.. well i will post back later after everyone has gotten up and started their day! Talk to you all soon

Morning Kirsty and PJ

I made such a nummy breakfast today! Would you believe that there's a WW recipe for chocolate chip banana pancakes? I made them this a.m. and they were fantastic. It was so hard to stop at one! Even Aaron ate two...and was a total chocolate face afterwards, it was adorable.

Kirsty, your niece is beautiful..the cheeks on that babe are rather amazing! Can you type her name in caps for me? IN the font my browser uses, I can't read her name at all, it kind of all goes together in a jumble.

PJ, I'm so glad you're feeling positive about things this morning. I find taht my WW goes much better when I'm feeling positive. I could see where it would be easy to hang out here where it's interesting instead of doing boring work.:)

I'm headed to the grocery store today...anyone got any good meal ideas for us? We've got to get out of our grilled boneless skinless chicken breast routine, or my hubby is going to have my head! He's dying for a change, and to be honest, so am I. We do lots of stir-fry too, and he says that these just don't fill him up. I'm going to look at the recipe thread for ideas too.

I fully intended to start on the running challenge last night, but I fell down a few stairs (carrying laundry and not looking where I was going) and my ankle was a bit tingly, so I didn't. But I still have time, so I'm GOING TO DO IT TONIGHT! Those caps are my way of showing how serious I am about this!

BBL!

aaronsmom 07-24-2002 08:50 AM

Hey Lucy, we were posting at the same time. Congrats on the great WI and I'm glad you like your new job so far!

JessIsOK 07-24-2002 09:01 AM

Goooooood Morning!

Morning, everyone! I went to bed late and woke up early, but some how managed to be in a pretty darn good mood!

Thank you so much, everyone, for being SO sweet and supportive (and threatening! :) ) yesterday when I was releasing my frustrations about co-workers. It really helped enormously! I've said it before and I'll say it again--you guys are the greatest!

Hello, Rina! Long time no see, hope you're feeling better soon!

Kirsty--Wow, sounds like you have a great weekend planned! Thanks for posting the pictures of Lolly's wedding! She looked absolutely gorgeous and it looks like it was perfect wedding weather! (Yes, I like exclamation marks!) :)

PJ--Yes, posting here is seriously addictive, but it's SO much fun. It's like spending a day with a bunch of close girlfriends, what more could you ask? :)

Lucy--Congrats on your loss! Having your own cubicle for the first time IS very exciting, I don't blame you for getting so worked up over it! I was thrilled when I started here and got my own cubicle. I brought pictures and other things to decorate and am still adding things. It practically becomes your home, so you should definitely get excited about it!

Can I share something a little personal with you guys that BF did that really touched me (yeah, OK ,there's a little pun in there). If you don't want to hear, I won't be offended if you don't read further. But, if you don't mind the juicy details: Last night, while BF and I were, ahem, engaged in activity, he kept telling me "Your body is so beautiful", which is something he's never told me (during that activity) in our entire almost 2 years of being together. Yesterday must have been a good day for me to be flattered--first the lady at work, then some guy told me I look good during the drill, and finally, BF.

Know what? You guys are the only people that I can share that kind of info with because I know you appreciate it more than anyone else can. You know how good it feels to receive compliments on your weight loss and hard work. It's not really obnoxious "bragging" when I tell you guys about it. It's sharing a success, the same way we do when we lose or resist drinks on a night out. :) That's why I love you guys. (I'm getting all veclempt).

OK, I'm going to see about getting a little work done now. I'll check in again later.

JessIsOK 07-24-2002 09:07 AM

Jayne--We were posting at the same time, too! I bet your little chocolate faced sweetie WAS adorable! Hmmm, recipe ideas--lately, I've been making tortilla pizzas--a fat free tortilla, a little sauce, reduced fat pepperoni, onions, 1/4 cup cheese, and a bunch of mushrooms and olives. For awhile, I was having BBQ Turkey roll-ups every single night. That's a fat free tortilla, BBQ sauce, Oscar Mayer Turkey slices (2) chopped up, 1/4 cup cheese...

Of course, these are meals that I, as a single person, eat. I don't have a family to feed, so I concentrate on things that are really quick and easy (translate: microwaveable) to make. :)

OH! Before I forget, there's a cookbook that I wanted to tell everyone about. It's a WW cookbook and it can be found at http://www.oxmoorhouse.com/product.a...B453&sku=25250
It's 5 Ingredients and 15 minutes. I looked through it at my last meeting and was VERY impressed with it! I'm probably going to get it (when I decide I can part with the money).

OK, back to work, really.

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 09:20 AM

Lucy
Where do you go to school???? Seminole county in Florida?? My parents live by Tampa, and I went to school in MIAMI!! (go canes!!)
Jess...so true. this feels like I'm hanging with my girlfriends! So funny how that works, isnt it??

TonyaLyn 07-24-2002 09:40 AM

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed! I just wrote an hour long post responding to everyone and it said I had too many smilies! AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!

Let me just say, Congrats to all the losers this week, and a special welcome to PJ.

Had a great time dirtbike riding, was about the only woman there among hundreds of guys. My DH was proud of me.

I will post pics of the event shortly.

I will BB in a bit....sorry about not responding to everyone right now, I have to walk around the building and cool down.....

WinterGirl 07-24-2002 09:43 AM

Kirsty - sounds like you have a great mini-vay planned. Thanks for posting the pictures of Lolly's wedding.

Lucy - congrats on the 1.6 and on obtaining a residence in a cube farm. I went to yoga last night and my instructor called me a masochist - apparently I like those side planks and one legged downward facing dogs a little too much!

Jayne - I bet Aaron was cute. Hope you got a photo of him. I know you are tired of chicken but try this.
1lb frozen skinless chicken breasts
16oz FF Sour Cream
1 can FF cream of mushroom
1 pckg dry onion soup mix
1 pckg sliced fresh mushrooms (optional)
put in crockpot on low for 8 hrs 6 servings 4pts per serving
serve over rice or pasta - don't forget to count those points!

Jess - that whole can't stop complimenting you, can't keep his eyes in his head, is wonderful heady stuff and after all your hardwork, you deserve every moment of it!

Well girls....I needed the Diet Coke vibes last night....this morning I just need tylonel and water!

Laura

tilley 07-24-2002 09:52 AM

Kirsty - I'm definately giving the 31 a try... no sparks yet really, but he's a lot of fun and pretty great.

Lucy - way to go on th 1.6. I have yet to try yoga.... I think i'll try that next after I master the climbing wall.

Jayne - those pancakes sound awesome. Mmmm. You're making me crave pancakes. I think I'll have to make some soon!

PJ - good to hear your very positive. Keep it up and spread it around.. I could use some positiveness!

Jess -first, I got the chills when you said that story. How awesome. I can't imagine how wonderful that made you feel. He sounds like a keeper and a real doll... also, I know what you mean. I think some of my friends are sick and tired of hearing about points and when I miss the gym. And I think they feel weird when they eat fatty things because they think I'm judging them, which I'm not... I'd eat them too if I could. It's good to have a place to talk about points, compliments, all that stuff without people getting tired of it or think we're bragging. Give you bf a long kiss when you get home.... he's just great.

Tonya - dirt bike? sounds cool. It was fun? Hundreds of guys... I shoudl look into this :)

Laura - good morning! Masochist, huh.... those moves sound brutal.

Alrighty.... the 31yo just emailed me. Gosh he's great... he wants to take me mountain biking.

Lisa

TonyaLyn 07-24-2002 09:58 AM

Lisa ~ (This was part of my long post before....) I wanted to tell you to give the 31 yr old a chance. I think dating older guys is a wise choice. I didn't. My DH is a year younger than me...it took years (actually up until a few years ago) for him to outgrow the whole wild guy thing. I think dating a guy that is about thru that is easier....just my .02 cents! :) BTW ~ When I first my my husband (we were introduced thru friends, actually my best friend was dating him at the time) I hated him. He was obnoxious, rude, and really wild. 10 years later, we have two kids, and have been married for 6 yeears....you just never know....

Kirsty 07-24-2002 10:11 AM

Hello again,
I'm just back from "legs, bums and tums" and boy am I tired!
Glad you love the site PJ! It's lovely to have you posting.
Lucy - I've been to Amsterdam before but it was a few years ago. I work in Soho so I'm used to the red-light district (no, not in that way!!). But hopefully the hotel we're staying in isn't slap bang in the middle of it. I can't wait, esp cos BF is already out there and I'm missing him. My (neighbour's) cat is keeping me company in the meantime.
Jayne - my niece is called EILIDH. it is pronouned the same way as Ailie (a-lee) but it actually means Helen (it's scottish!). she is the fattest baby i have ever seen! bless her. she's 9 months old now and almost the same size as a 2-year-old! i thought i was going to get a hernia carrying her at the christening!!
Jess - that was such a great comment from your BF!
Tonya - I hate when I lose a post! I quite often copy it before hitting post, just in case! can't wait to see the dirtbike piccies!
Laura - what kind of yoga are you doing? I do Hatha yoga, I love being a bit more flexible as I was dreadfully stiff before.
Lisa - so, you gonna go mountain biking? i reckon you should!
Gotta work,
Kirsty

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 10:23 AM

Tonya
Totally agree about dating a guy that's over his wild stuff.....my Boyfriend of about a year and a half just finally realized how dumb his wild stuff was about 6 months ago....UGH. We are definitely stronger having survived it, but man. what a full time job.
he's a doll though.....
also a chef by trade, so that kind of makes the not eating fatty foods harder, but it's alright.
ok, i digress.
i dont want to work today. cant we all just go home?

WinterGirl 07-24-2002 10:53 AM

PJ - I'm granting you permission to leave work and go home....not that your boss much cares if I give you permission!

Kirsty - I've been practicing hatha yoga for about 18 months now and am an addict. How long have you been practicing? Also, what is a "legs, bums, and tums" class?

Lisa - you said yes to the mountain biking right? I sure hope so because it's on my list of things to try and since we occasionally lead parallel lives, I'm thinking that if you do this I probably will shortly.

Tonya - it is great to have you back and posting - you rather disappeared there for awhile - glad you had fun dirtbiking.

Laura

Belle2000 07-24-2002 11:05 AM

Hi ya girls

Hi girls!

Kirsty – the pics are great – Lolly looked so happy (as usual, her smile is infectious!) and your niece – oh my god, how cute are those cheeks!! How do you say her name again?

I haven’t had a chance to catch up on the HUGE posting yesterday or todays, but I will later on.

I am a bit depressed, as my back injury has been horrid the past week or so. I went for a run and it was so painful I had to stop after about 12min. Even sleeping hurts. B/f and I canoed on the weekend, which made it even worse. I am worried about going to Thailand b/c of this – I have to carry a backpack and we were planning on kayaking, etc. So I am starting physio on Monday (that gives me 6 weeks to feel somewhat better!). I hate my injuries, I still get mad at myself for falling…..but some guy died of a head injury from rollerblading last week, so I guess I am lucky. He was wearing a helmet too – its scary.

The Ball was fun on Saturday, and b/f looked good in a tux – wow!! I liked to see how the “rich old folk” acted/dressed. Some scary cougars out there girls!!!

I have a gripe. B/f is a thin guy – 6 feet, 170lbs. He has no problem eating what he wants, although I am more fit than he is cardiovascularly. But yesterday, he wanted ice cream I had eaten to the top of my range already, and I had no points to spare. He was like – oh, you only live once, you look great, you can have one ice cream, etc etc. I ate the sundae (but not the whipped cream and I didn’t finish it). And now I feel guilty. I know he has a point – not everything can be planned. Like at the ball, he said don’t even count the points, just enjoy the food b/c you’ll never have a chance like this again. So I did (and it was good – 6 courses, but the servings were very small). I don’t know. Do you think he has a point??

Well, back to work. I’ll try to respond properly from home or if the boss ducks out later…..

Belle

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 11:22 AM

I dont know. THe whole B/F issue is hard. They try (for the most part) to be supportive, but then say things like "oh come on, just this once"...which is sometimes ok, but I give myself those excues all the time! I kind of want him to be tougher on me! but when he is I get angry! UGH. I dont know. (I'm a little frustrated with mine now, so maybe not the best time to comment on this)

aaronsmom 07-24-2002 11:53 AM

Belle, I too have a husband whose metabolism makes me sick. He is on this kick where he tells me that I can eat whatever I want as long as I work out. He will support me on WW if I am strong and committed, but the minute I get weak, he's right in there saying that I should just not worry about it anyway. It's frustrating, isn't it? They don't seem to understand that our bodies don't handle calories the same way that their bodies do, and that we are frustrated by their efforts to "help" us.

PJ, a chef BF would be ****** for me, as I am a huge gourmet food fan. Although, if you could get him into that whole Kathleen Dahlmans thing (that chef from Cooking Thin) he might be able to help you come up with some new and interesting Low Fat WW friendly foods.

Kirsty, that name is beautiful. I hope you don't mind, but I put it on my list for when and if I ever am blessed with a little girl. Of course, I'd have to spell it the more conventional way...Americans couldn't handle the beautiful Scottish spelling.

Lisa, is it me or are you sounding a little more pro-Brian? Mountain biking sounds fun! If nothing romantic comes out of this, I bet you at least get a hiking/biking buddy from the whole thing, and that's never bad.

Thanks for the recipe Laura...I'll try that since I hate heating up the kitchen with the oven in the summer. Sorry to hear you're hung over...There is a surefire hangover cure, though, if you're willing to spend the points. McDonald's hamburger...all that bread and just the right amount of protein. It is mostly tasteless, so your tummy shouldn't reject it too much.

Tonya, what a bummer to lose a big post. I've done that too - nothing more frustrating. I can't wait to see the DBike pictures. I think you are awesome not to be afraid to do things with so many guys -- I am always retreating back to my junior high days and get all shy about going to mostly male places. Except sports bars for football games, those I handle ok.

Jess, face it -- you have the body of a goddess! You are a hottie, and it's about time people start to take notice! All your hard work is paying off, and this will propell you forward to make yourself even healthier (and that's the last step, because we know you've already acheived goddess-hood!)

Thanks for the food ideas, everyone...hubby especially thanks you all!;)

Later, gators!

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 11:59 AM

so funny. I just cant stop checking this site.
am I obsessive?
:)
Only prob. with chef B/F is he hates healthy food. I mean really now. So he loves to cook anything for me, but....
whole thing is so aggrevating.
I'm PMSy today......dont like boys today

Kirsty 07-24-2002 12:45 PM

Jayne - just don't do what my sister did and give her the middle name Anne. run them together (Eilidh Anne) and you get - ALIEN!
doh!
my BF has a pretty fast metabolism but he's been very supportive (and he eats pretty healthily himself). we didn't get together till after i reached goal but he knows all about it and he knows i still watch my points (most of the time!). i think most men would rather have a slim, healthy partner, so they have to support you! i know sometimes it's nice to eat what they do, and i reckon if you do it very occassionally you'll get away with it. sometimes your metabolism perks up a bit when you go over points once in a while. but NOT once a week or once a day!
hmmm, maybe you need to develop a temporary "allergy/intolerance" to some foods so they don't force you to eat them. a dairy allergy would help you avoid ice cream, cream sauces but sadly, that includes cheese (except when the BF is not around, of course!).
i also comfort-eat-by-proxy, where i buy something nice and give it to BF (occassionally eating a little bit). makes me feel like i'm in control and i can buy what i like and not eat it. i like to imagine the shop assistants thinking, "she's so lucky, she can eat that big slice of double chocolate fudge cake and not put on weight". little do they know, i ain't eating it!
laura - legs, bums and tums is an aerobics class that focuses on these areas - so lots of squats, lunges and sit-ups etc.
15 minutes left of work - yippee!! see you gals tomorrow,
kirsty

JessIsOK 07-24-2002 01:02 PM

Stopping in again...

Just stopping in for a few minutes, as I finish up my lunch break. I haven't accomplished much of anything lately and have decided to spend the rest of the week working my tail off to get a bunch of work done. So, I'm going to try to limit the number of times I visit this place daily.

Tonya--Hello! Yes, definitely post the pics from dirtbiking, we'd love to see them! That's too bad about your really long post being lost. Sometimes, I copy and paste mine before I click "Submit Reply" just because I'm afraid something might happen my post will get eaten.

Laura--That recipe sounds AWESOME! I love anything I can just toss in the crockpot and let cook. :) Don't you hate it when the Diet Coke vibes come AFTER the night of drinking? I sure could have used them on Sunday at the cookout.

Lisa--Yes, BF is great (most of the time). Sometimes he frustrates me (he's 2 years younger than me) and sometimes he makes me mad as all ****, but things like that totally redeem him. Mountain biking? That sounds like a great (and no-contact, if you decide you're not interested) time!! A friend and I are thinking about doing some whitewater rafting next May (apparently the only good times to go are April, May and June) in Colorado. I like stuff like that--it's all very exciting.

Kirsty--Those Scottish words are sure tricky! I've been reading the Outlander series, which takes place in Scotland and there are some tough names in there. The trickiest one I've run across is Laoghaire, pronounced Leery. I love the name Eilidh (and she is just the cutest little thing!), I would add it to my list of names for kids, except I have no plans for any, so I don't keep track of those things. What sort of things are there to do in Amsterdam? I've done so little travelling compared to most of you, it's just unbelievable!!

Belle--Hunny, you just absolutely cannot get mad at yourself for falling. First of all, things like that aren't your fault, they just happen. And secondly, getting yourself all worked up over it isn't going to change the fact that it happened. Kiddo, you just have to make the best of the situation and yourself as you are! As far as the BF goes--he does have a point, but only to a point. Hehe. Yes, you only live once, and you should enjoy yourself from time to time, but remember, you only live once and you should strive to feel the very best you can during that one life and if that means eliminating ice cream once in awhile, so be it.

Jayne--Thanks for the compliment! A goddess, huh? I never associated myself with being one, but now that you mention it...

OK, I'm going to post and see who posted while I've been writing this... Then I'm going to get to work!

JKarr 07-24-2002 01:14 PM

No time for much but a quick post so I apologize in advance for not responding to everyone....

TB and I "broke up" yesterday. It was a pretty mutual decision, but that doesn't stop me from being sad. I am a very emotional person by nature and even those things that I know are for the best, still really upset me. I really enjoyed his company and am sad that I won't be hanging out with him anymore. But, I start school in less than 3 weeks so it is also for the best that it happened now while I have the time and energy to deal with it emotionally.

Rina - Congrats on your marriage! It is good to have you back!

Kirsty - Thanks for the pictures from Lolly's wedding!

Jess - I saw this new smilie and thought of you! :cb:

To everyone else, Hi!! Sorry I can't address everyone personally, but work is busy and my mind is not at it's sharpest right now. I'll come back when I am feeling a bit cheerier.

JessIsOK 07-24-2002 01:40 PM

OH MY GOSH, A DANCING BANANA!!!!! (I'm supposed to be working, like I said I was going to be doing!!) That is SO cute, Jen!!

Sorry to hear about things with TB, even though it is for the best. I'm like you and very emotional (we can't help it, we just are), and seeing things end is always sad. Just keep your chin up, concentrate on things that don't make you think of things with him, and be happy because this means you won't be tied down to TB when MR (Mr. Right) comes along. :D

Horsey girl 07-24-2002 01:58 PM

Omigod I think I just peed my pants! Jen, that is the funniest smilie ever!

I hate my timezone sometimes. I always get on here after everyone else goes home. It's hot here and I'm optimistically thinking that I'm losing weight because I'm sweating so much. Plus I had to walk uphill home - here's a mini victory - the summer before I joined WW I used to park at my MIL and walk down the hill to catch the train to work and then walk UPHILL to my car. I would make it about halfway and then have to stop to catch my breath. Last night I had to walk up the same hill and I didn't stop at all and when I got to the top I realized how much better my body is operating without lugging around all that extra weight. It was cool

On the older BF discussion - mine is 10 years older but acts about 10 years younger - it's an odd combination and gives him slight MPD but I still love him. 5 years is nothing - go for it!

Belle - I'm sure the 6 weeks in physio will help and then you can have a fantastic vacation. Just make sure you take some time to RELAX. I agree with the you only live once to an extent but you know, there are always birthdays with cake, buffets, BBQs. If you say, I'll diet tomorrow every day, tomorrow never comes and in my case, I gained weight. Lately I've been trying to eat well during the week and not really paying attention on the weekends - it's working and that way I don't feel "deprived" if the BF has an ice cream because I know I can have one on the weekend. (if I have no DQ fudge bars in the freezer)

Quickly to others: THanks for the picts Kirsty - Lolly looked great and the niece is HUGE - maybe she is and Alien. Jayne - You can always do hamburgers for the rest of the family and a low point veggie burger for yourself. A big one for my WW journey is Pasta, use low fat cheese and no one can tell the difference. Tonya - did you get dirty? Jess - what a sweetie! OK and Hi to PJ, Kier, lisa, laura and everyone else - I've got to do some really boring work now. I'll be back

KT

Belle2000 07-24-2002 02:58 PM

Hi again...

I am pretty much where you all are - Maybe I'll take Kirsty's advice and get an "allergy"!! :p B/f does try to be supportive, like Jihan's and Jayne's, but there are the moments when he wants someone to eat yummy stuff with adn he does worry that I'll end up obsessing and taking it too far....I won't :) its like when my sister made a comment about me being obsessed at stampede b/c I turned down the mini donuts - its a choice I made....SIGH.

Well, I just went for lunch wiht a girlfriend that I was going to WW with until about 3 weeks ago she stopped going. She looks to me like she's gained weight, though I dont' mention it to her...anyway, she says she isnt' going back to WI. So now I am alone going again. Its funny how so many people are all gung-ho then they drop right out!? I'll still go, but I was looking forward to the buddy thing. She is always looking for quick fixes though I find - tries diet after diet....so Idon't think she's ready for WW.

Kirsty - OMG that is funny, Alien - hee hee.....well, she is super cute though....

Jess - I too have accomplished notta!! Oh well....thanks for the butt kicking about my injury. I know its not anyone's fault, its just that the pain isn't going away and its frustrating. OH YEAH - about your "moment" last night- it IS nice to hear, congratulations!! Also, I have read all of the Outlander series (am onthe 5th book as we speak). I loved the first three. The fourth was OK and the fifth I am having a hard time getting through.....which one are you on??

Jen - OCH (Scottish expression)! Let TB run out of your hair...I know you are emotional, as you should be with all relationships that end, romantic or not, but now you are free and open to find the "one". Woo hoo!! I am sending you a cyber hug!!

KT - I am OBSESSED with DQ fudge bars...I love them. When we go to DQ I have that. Its enough for me. He is good about it. Last night though we were at the drive in where there is no "low fat" option...which is why I ate only half and no whipping cream....I hope you are right about 6 weeks of physio (well, 5.5 now!). I want to have a good trip, esp for the $ and its allmy vacation time for the year!! GASP!!

Tonya and Jihlan - I am with you on the "wild stuff' phase. My b/f had it too - ended right before we met. He is VERY touchy about talking about it. I am glad he's a grown up now!!

Lucy - I was in amsterdam at the flying pigs hostel in 1999 - there was a "robber" in our room, signs were posted all around saying there was a british guy stealing from people's rooms when they were sleeping. Well, I woke up in the morning, some american girls had left the dorm door open and in comes this loser, talking on his cell phone. Well, there were only us, the americans and seom russians there so we knew he wasn't one of us. the russians couldn't speak english so I jumped out of bed and fought him. Yup - I fought him til he left. It was funny, as I was in my PJ's...hee hee heeee.....needless to say, we got the **** out of that hostel to the nice HI one accross town!!

Lisa - (read in singing voice) "all we are saaaayyinnnnng...is give him a chaaaannncce" eh hee. Get it?

OK I really must work. I'll post more later...

Wow, we sure are chatty lately! Ok, I have cooled down now, so I will try to respond to everyone, and I will copy this before I post!!

Let's see....

Kirsty ~ Thanks, too, for posting the pics of Lolly's wedding and the personal pics of you. Your neice is so chubby and cute. I LOVE chubby babies...both of mine were real fat! :) I hope Lolly is basking in holy matrimony (cause, girl, it don't last long....:s: )

Belle ~ Hang in there sweetie, I am sure Physio will help a lot. I understand totally about the high metabolism hubby. Mine is like that. He has gained some weight over the last year, and is now happy that I cook in a low fat way....:) I am glad to see I am not the only one with a "wild child" husband/boyfriend. Oh, girls, I could tell you stories about my DH, you would be astonished that I have stayed with him all this years! We are very close, but what amazes me, is he won't talk about past loves or physical relationships he has had, I just think he is embarrassed by how many women he has been with.....TMI, I know.....:) Oh well, he's all grown up now. If you ask his mom and dad, it is all because of me! :)

KT ~ That is great about the hill. It is times like that that losing weight for me makes it all worth while. The physical aspect really makes a person feel good! Keep up the good work. And, Yes, I got really dirty on the ATV/dirtbike trails. Hard to pick up men (yes, I still try to even though I am married, my DH thinks I am funny....) when you are filthy and have helmet hair, but oh well, I find most men find it a turn on to see a feminine woman on a fast machine....

Jen ~ Sorry to hear about TB. But, it was for the best, and Jess is right, now you have time to start looking again for Mr. Right. I can't believe you start law school in 3 weeks, how exciting!! :)

PJ ~ I have days that I hate big boys (can't say all boys, I have a 3 year old son, and I always love him!!)

Aaronsmom ~ Aaron sounds so cute! You must post a pic. I love babies, I miss that age, they grow up so fast! That is too bad that you were shy in school. I have never been shy, and I feel for people that are. My brother has always been really shy, and I know he really struggles with it at times, especially in school. I was always far from shy, and would try anything (well, almost anything) once. I know many occasions it got me in trouble!!

Hi Laura!!! :) Thanks for missing me!!

Lisa ~ Yes, if you want to meet, hot guys, shirtless, sweaty, and lots of testosterone. Start ATV/dirtbike riding.....I'll teach ya! :)

Well, I know I missed lots so a big "Hi!!" to Lori, Lolly, Stacey, Trish, Ali, Becky, Lucy and everyone else!!

Well, Sunday was my birthday, I turned the big 31, feel old but oh well. My two best friends and their husbands were with us dirtbike riding and on Sat night thought it would be fun to take their friend (me!) to a strip club.....let me just say it was an interesting night....DH got a big laugh over it.....and of course enjoyed the scenery.....
:s:

Well, this is long enough! I better get back to work, haven't done a thing all day!! Ok, let me copy this....and try to post it, again!!

Belle--I'm about 3/4 of the way through Voyager (the 3rd one)... I heard that the fifth book is disappointing, but I just don't see how it could be. A friend of mine who read it said that it starts off slow, but is still pretty good. Isn't there supposed to be a 6th book coming out? Maybe I just dreamed this... :) A friend who is a HUGE Gabaldon fan said that she's going to do another book or two about Jamie's parents and their relationship. That could just be rumor, though...

OK, I really am going to do a little work...

Princess Jihan 07-24-2002 03:23 PM

AAAAK! So much to read! Just wanted to check in quickly...cant keep avoiding work
:)

Wow-another incredibly busy day on the thread! Sounds like things are going well for everyone. I am in a super good mood today because I put on a pair of jeans I had not worn in a few weeks and they are definitely LOOSER than they were before:D So I have been very excited about that and it is def. helping me stay on track! YAY! I did skip my walk this morning, the alarm went of and I just could not get up. But I am feeling very well rested now and so I'll be doing it this evening, weather permitting (thunderstorms in the forecast). Ok, don't know if I will have time to respond to everyone but I am going to try--

Kirsty- Your niece is the cutest! Alien would be a funny name:) "And this is my niece, Alien"-hee! Maybe not so fun for the kid, but still...

PJ- Watch it, I think you are developing a serious 3fc board dependency! But you're fun to have so we won't stop you!

Lucy- Awesome on the 1.6. And that the job is going well! Hope you enjoy your cube! I have got to try yoga sometime. Maybe for one of my PE's.

Jayne- Don the running! Do it do it do it! Think, we'll all be fabulous runners in just TWO SHORT MONTHS!!!! And yeah, nobody gets Celtic-type spellings in the States. My brother is Eoin and nobody ever gets it right on the first try (it's pronounced Owen). Sometimes I'm very glad my mom only gave my brothers the "ethnic" names, as we like to call them! My dad is not a big fan of any of the Irish girls names, except possibly Aisling, and they couldn't do that because my aunt named my cousin Aisling and they didn't want to copycat!

Jess- You must definitely be looking good! Three people in one day! Go Jess! You rock!

Tonya- Dirtbiking sounds like a blast. I think I'd find it a bit intimidating if it was all guys though. Good for you!

Laura- Hope the hangover is cleared up by now.

Lisa- Mountainbiking-yippee! Go for it. It should be fun regardless of sparks. And, how is the climbing going?

Belle- Oooh, sundaes. Mmmm, you are giving me the worst icecream cravings. Stoppit!

Ok, well, I am going to head off now!

I'm so overwhelmed with the posts.... I hope I can post to all.

Belle - I know what it's like. Your BF is right to an extent... something as special as a ball with 6 courses.... enjoy yourself. But you know you and you know when "just this once" is becoming "just these ten times." Ha ha.... I loved the song... yes I got it... :)

Jayne - I think I am pro-Brian because our phone calls and email coversations are so spectacular and he's great. I think when we're together though it dies... I'm thinking that I'm not pysically attracted to him... but I'm trying to be.

Jess - I LOVE white water rafting. LOVE IT. I used to go every summer in Tennessee... the Ocoee River. So much fun! Well, boys are odd... so I don't think there are many who are great all the time. I think most of the time is what we're shooting for.

KT - sorry we're always gone when you post!!! Hope your afternoon goes well anyway. If nothing else, you get some interesting reading... although I'm sure you'd prefer some responses too!

Tonya - have you been riding long. I don't think I knew this about you!

Cat - I'm going climbing again tonight. I am still sore two days later! Which I guess is great if that means I gave my muscles that much of a workout... I was mistaken thinking that since I goto the gym so much that I'd be fit enough to climb! Congrats on those jeans.... that's such a great feeling!!!!

JP - I think you are as addicted to this board as I! It's dangerous isn't it!

I have a little thing to tell... but I doubt there will be many people reading this afternoon..so I might save it for tomorrow... the jist is... Brian suggested lunch at his house Friday instead of going out to lunch. Anyone else find that odd? Although... I think he might want a little smooch, which I didn't give him Saturday... and I'm leaving for NY this weekend.... so I think he just thinks if we go out to lunch there will definately be no smooch and he may just want to leave the smooching option open.... but lunch at his house seems a little too intimate. I think I might say something like "well, since I'm leaving for NY - it may be better to catch lunch closer to the highway." Something like that???

Lisa

Horsey girl 07-24-2002 05:14 PM

Lisa - if you're not wanting any of the lip action, by all means use the suggestion of closer to the highway, of course, if you choose to take lunch at his house... well, you never know.

Can someone remind me of the name of the author of the outlander series?

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone but....

Belle - sorry your back is bothering you so much. I hope the physio helps.

Lisa - if you aren't ready to play tonsil hockey do exactly as you were thinking. That's a great way to handle the situation.

I'm so glad the work day is almost over...I need a nap!

Laura

aaronsmom 07-24-2002 06:05 PM

Lisa, I would most definitely keep it at a restaurant...that way there's no hurt feelings risked and, even though he's a friend of a friend and the nicest guy ever, you just never know. You could use the highway excuse, and also say that you think he'd be more relaxed if he's not worried about cooking.

Cat, isn't it awesome when you actually NEED a belt to hold your pants up, rather than just putting one on because there are loops?

Tonya -- I'm laughing so hard that you went to a strip club. I just went to my first a few months ago -- my father-in-law and his wife (on the night they got married, no less!) took my husband aside and told him it was time I went...what an education it was! How on earth do they move like that???:o

Belle, what a bummer that you have to go to WW alone now. But at least, when you're thinking about giving up, you can think of how she looked with some of her weight back on, and let that be a motivator. She'll come back when her pants get too tight again, I'd be willing to bet.

KT, I'll give you something to read in your time zone! I'll even give you a morphing troll doll or two to keep you awake. I tried a veggie burger from Burger King once...I may have had a bad experience if you think they're good. I think that half the problem was that I was eating it as I drove, and I couldn't see what I was getting -- just feeling these odd bits of vegetation in my mouth here adn there. It was strange. Ok, here's your morphing troll dolls. :fr: :fr:

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear about you and the boy. I think it's natural to get emotional when a part of our life that we really enjoyed is over. Even if we knew it wouldn't last forever, and we didn't necessarily want it to. Let yourself be sad for a while, because then you'll be even readier for Mr. Right when he happens along. And when you're done being sad, here's a little pick-me-up for you.:D

Jess and PJ -- get back to work! (Imagine this said in my best teacher voice as I shake my finger at you...)

Everyone else, have a good night!
