Hi, Turtles,
Lauren, that's one of those good suggestions that doesn't work for me. It's the curse of the musician, even an amateur one. When there's music playing, that's what I focus on. (Needless to say, I despise all the background music that plays in all of our public places.) Music's great to get me through mindless chores, but death to creative work. I'll talk to him and we'll work it out. About discipline and just doing it: Those folks who do things they hate have other motivation. Sometimes it's fear of being judged badly by other people if they don't do the right thing. Sometimes they care more about the results of what they do than the discomfort of doing it. In the case of health things, fear of early death or illness can be a strong motivation. But rarely does sheer willpower motivate anyone for very long to do things they really hate doing. They have to get some benefit from it and it has to be greater than the discomfort. I'm hoping that using the "just do it" mentality for a while will give me the results that will change my attitude back to enjoying the results more than hating the doing it, especially in the areas of running the household and staying OP. You're in one of those tricky situations where figuring out how to get your body to hate this weight and move on can get discouraging. Those dreaded plateaus. I'm hoping it doesn't last very long and soon you'll be at your current goal. BTW--I assumed that she would get medication from her doctor for the yeast infection. I meant to refer to the simple rash. Bad writing from this writer. :) Once the infection's totally gone, keeping it dry with cornstarch can keep it from returning. At least, it's worked for me for decades. I've gotten rashes forever, even when I was at normal weight. Love your motivational words from Dotti's site. Thanks for posting. Have a great trip! Looking forward to hearing about your trip. Wow, Erin. It's sometimes frustrating how easily our dh's can get themselves back in shape if they want to. But it's great when they do because they're happier and healthier. ;) I think perhaps your body is jumping up and down with joy that you're feeding it and it's trying to tell you how much it really needs. I think as you gradually add back most of that deficit back into your food plan, it will settle down. I wrote 1925 words yesterday and that doesn't count the ones I deleted. In the last three days I've written 4829. I'm getting my assignment done. A few of us had a long chat session discussing how to apply the questions we're supposed to answer to our books. This is really difficult, but I'm loving it. For over 20 years I've been trying to write at this level but didn't know how to go about it. Now, I'm learning how to write what I've wanted to write my whole life. I got about 7 paperback books this week. I had a coupon from Waldenbooks and my son had a store credit from B&N he couldn't use. So, next month I pay the piper by getting his stuff from Amazon. :) Works for me!! It's a nice little treat. Speaking of my son, Wizards of the Coast decided to extend their deadline for picking which people's proposals they want to see in greater detail until sometime around the first week of August. They got over 10,000 proposals. So, keep sending those good vibes for him. He's antsy to quit his retail job and do something more worthwhile. I'm still OP, except for exercise. I've done some walking, but not at the level or as often as I'd really like to do it. I'll get back into it. The icky pantihose help because my legs don't ache so much. Have a great holiday. Happy turtlin'! Lin :?: |
Happy 4th of July to all my favorite turtles!!!!!!
So are all of you going to go to see fireworks?? I am but only on the street. My town is prob the only one in the area that you have to pay. Now don't get me wrong, I understand it, I just can't afford it so we and the rest of the neigborhood with walk to the corner and watch it from there...what fun, I love fireworks. I am enjoying my day at home, driving my car with the top off, going to the fabric store and seeing a half dozen people there from my quilt guild. 4th of July must be a good day to shop. Dinner will be chicken, mac salad made with the low fat mayo, beans, corn??? maybe corn too. dh just bought dessert, and I may have some. Oh well, nobodys perfect. Have 2 more days till weigh in. Yea!!! Happy 4th Kathy |
OK, tortoises. I'm just checking in here from MIL's in Canada (where it is a blissful 68 degrees this evening) to let you all know that it is PURELY because of that *#&%^# challenge that I am still OP today. This morning we went out for breakfast, and even though I ate carefully I totted up a whopping 12.5 points. Almost half my day's allotment, and the day's just begun! Remind me not to do that often.
So I ate a very light lunch with a LOT of vegetables, and had a healthy dinner. I also walked for more than an hour. It was a glorious day here. Of course, they don't celebrate the Fourth of July, but that's OK. It never was one of my favorite holidays. I celebrated by drinking in all this lovely clear, clean, crystalline air. What a nice break from the 90+ mugginess we had in Michigan. Anyway, you all are what kept me within my points today. Just had to let you know. Onward and downward, Lauren |
