Thumbs down Fabulous Forties #125

Hi everyone,

Dianne, that's so cute about all your "aliases"! I love the Papa Dianne.....how did that come about? Glad you had a good weekend with family. I didn't try the blueballs yet, will do so next week.

Es, I know you're much more advanced in the area of exercise and working out than I am, but the walking tapes might be good for you. They're definitely not strenous, wouldn't tax your arm at all.

HollyGirl, try for a fresh start each day. Put any slipups behind you and be positive! Don't beat yourself up about what you ate yesterday; instead focus on what you will do right today. Good luck

later,
~Jen

Hi everyone,
I WI this morning and unbelievably I stayed the same. The anitbiotic that I am on is an appetite stimulant and since I'd been so sick I haven't even thought about what I was putting in my mouth. As long as it didn't require any work or preparation, I ate it. Mostly junk Anyway I guess my body was working hard fighting the infection because I didn't gain. See Holly, we all slip up, for a variety of reasons. You just have to get back on the horse, or cow in this case. (There weren't any pictures of horses .)

Es,
I agree with Jen, when I broke my elbow I was still able to walk and use the treadmill. In fact, I had never used a treadmill before I broke it and now it is one of my favorite exercises. Usually I love to look around at nature when I'm walking so I thought the treadmill would be really boring for me. As it turns out I find it a great time to do some fun reading which I never seem to have enough time to do otherwise. Of course I also sometimes watch TV too. Tomorrow is my follow up apt from my MRI. I may be back to just walking and treadmill again if I have to get surgery. We "one-armed bandits" need to stick together

Ruth,
WHen do you start summer session. Steve is teaching 4 or 5 hrs a day, 5 days a week this summer. He starts around Jun 12.

Hugs to all,
JanieD

Sheesh! I keep posting on the wrong page,

Jen - The Papa Dianne came about, because my step-son's grandfather(mother's father) is Papa, so they call Willie Papa Willie, so the little one starting calling me Papa Dianne (guess he figures Papa Willie/Papa Dianne) - and it stuck. My step- daughter-in-law's whole family call me that, LOL. I guess eventually the little one's will realize its wrong, but I hope not too soon, I love it!

So, how is everyone doing? And where the heck is Myra????

Hi Es, mi amiga, how is your arm? I must have missed a post somewhere cause I don't even know what happened to your arm. But, I hope its better soon.

Janie - Sorry you've been sick - are you feeling better now?

Terri - I posted to you on page six of the last thread - congrats to Britt - great job on the Who's Who. Its cool isn't it? Both Justin and Alana are members of Who's Who and its cool to see their pictures and bio in the book.

Holly - sorry to hear you're having a hard time, it happens to all of us and will happen again, unfortunately. As the women here know I'm fond of saying "sometimes life just gets in the way". Just take one day at a time - hang in there, it will get better!

Hey Zoe girl, how are ya?

Hi Ruth - How did school go for ya this semester?

Hey Mel!

Well, let me get back to work - I'll talk to you's tomorrow.

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi Girls,

What a week it's been!! It's been so slow at work it's driving me crazy. One of the attorney's that sits across from me has a bowl full of dark & milk chocolate Doves I was so bored I almost ate some but I was good. I only had one.

Dianne, whenever I see your name it makes me smile. You always make me laugh. Papa Dianne is so cute. They'll probably always call you that. I had alot of pain in my right arm. I didn't know what happened so I went to the Dr. cause I couldn't stand it anymore & it turned out to be tendonitis. It's okay now.

Janie, I pray that you won't have to have surgery. It sets us back. When I had shoulder surgery I recovered very slowly. I'm not saying that would happen to you just that we can't exercise the way we'd like to. I love my treadmill. It's convenient. I have it in my living right in front of my TV. When I get home from work I feed my animals, change my clothes, throw on my headphones & watch my soaps. You maintained while you were sick, that wasn't bad at all. When Pete was sick he hardly ate & of course the men lose much faster than we do He's over it now & I'm very happy. I don't have to wait on him anymore. He didn't complain but he was so weak I had to get just about everything for him.

HollyGirl, take one day at a time. It's a struggle but we can do it. I slip alot but I get right back up & keep on keeping on. Try & come here everyday & we'll help you thru this. I use to think something was wrong with me too. But you are not alone. This is why I have to exercise, for all my slip ups. Hang in there

WTG Brittany!!!! Terri, you must be so proud of her.

Well Buddies, I'll be back later or tomorrow.

Have a nice evening

Love,
Es

Hi to the rest of the gang.

Wow, Terri, I guess in the midst of beginning a new thread I forgot to say CONGRATS to Brittany on the Who's Who!!! You must be very proud

I think I caught whatever Matt had over the weekend, he had a runny nose, etc. I'm suffering from a horrible sore throat/achiness. Joey had asked me to be at his new apartment this afternoon from 11 to 3 to wait for a furniture delivery. I felt lousy, but had committed to it and couldn't back out. Spent the day in a (very uncomfortable) lawn chair with a book, then the delivery didn't even arrive until almost 4.

Es, way to go on passing up all that chocolate! You did very well.

Janie, I hope you're feeling better.....and that your MRI results are good. Let us know.

Today I did another mile using the aerobic walking tape. I really like it; the last thing I felt like doing was exercising this morning, but forced myself to do so. I believe if I hadn't done it, I never would have dragged thru the day.

Mel, good to hear from you

Going to go before stinking aol kicks me off.....

Hi

I'm almost done with my lunch hour so I'll make it short.

Jen, we will do anything for our kids. Here you are feeling under the weather, in a lawn chair for 5 hours when you could have been home in your comfortable bed. I would have done the same thing. Feel better.

Today is slow I can't wait till 4:00! Let me go before someone comes to ask me a question.

Till later.

Love,
Es

Hi Buddies,

I have a new distraction this week... Of all things, we have new broken bones in the family. My older son David was out with friends last Saturday night and horsing around on a hill. He tripped and fell hard on his right arm and broke both bones near his wrist. We were hoping for the best after they set it, but alas, after a second x-ray we were informed he will need to have surgery today to set it properly. He may need a plate and screws.

On a happier note, my mom is continuing to make progress, and is learning to walk without a cane or any support at all.

WW, well sometimes stress can make even me stop eating, so I have lost 3 lbs, between the gardening and the pacing.
I want to catch up with you all and socialize again, but I guess I will have to wait a bit.

Hugs to all, Sandy

Sandy,
Sorry to hear about David. I know from recent personal experience how painful a broken arm can be How old is DAvid? Great to hear that your mom is improving so well. COngrats on the 3 lb loss!!!

Terri,
I can't believe that I forgot to Congratulate Britt. I remember a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, when I was in Who's WHo for American HS. I know she must be very proud, and of course so are you

Jen,
It sounds like you have what I am getting over. I hope you feel better soon. All I wanted to do was sleep

All my Buddies,
Am finally getting out and walking again. Not recovered enough for kick boxing. We are going to Yosemite this weekend with our camper. I tried to get reservations and there were no campsites available. We are just going to go and take our chances that there will be a cancellation. If not we can always boondock along the road somewhere outside the park. Ellen loves Yosemite and always wants to go but then when we get there she is reluctant to go hiking. Steve and I love to hike so sometimes I wonder if she is really our kid It maybe just as well that we don't hike that much because Steve and I are still getting over this crud. My apt with the orthopeidist is today. Will keep you posted.

Hugs to all,
JanieD

I didn't realize that a new thread was started. I hate being behind. I guess I rely on the e-mail reminders too much.

Thanks everyone for the congrats for Brittany. She is proud and so are we.

Sandy, I am so sorry about David. Poor thing.
I am so happy about your mom. That is great!
And last but not least...

CONGRATS ON LOSING 3#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JanieD,
Have a great time at Yosemite. Sounds like such fun!!!!
Don't worry about the maintain. I'll bet you will see a loss next week. Medicine can do that.

Jen, Hope you are feeling better. That is rough. Hope it was a good book. I just got done reading the second book of the Rocket boys series. A movie was made from the Rocket Boys (New York Time best seller) called October Sky. They changed the name cause it sounded too Disney. The author worked with Bruce on Spacelab J for NASA. The secong book is The Coalwood Way and the Third (which I am starting) is called Sky of Stone.
Bruce took the book into work one day and had him sign it. He still lives here. He retired from NASA. He has mega bucks now. I think I will get Bruce to write about his hometown.

Dianne,
Papa Dianne is just way too cute!!!!!!!!!!

I love my treadmill. It is so convenient if you have a favorite show you watch anyway. Kill two birds with one stone I say.

I hope y'all have a good weekend. My in-laws are coming in. UGH!!!!!! I have so much too clean. At least my neighbor invited the boys over to play so I can get things done. TTYL

Sandy, glad to hear that your Mom is continuing to improve. That's a shame about David; I hope the surgery went well and that he's on the mend. In spite of how you lost it......you're the one doing the Happy Dance! way to go on the 3 pounds!!

Janie, have a great time this weekend!! So cool to just pick up and go to get away, isn't it? Hope Ellen decides to get in a hike for her parents' sake!

Terri, sorry about the in-laws' visit That is soo cool about Bruce knowing the author of those books! I'll have to check them out. I'm currently re-reading the Clan of the Cave Bear, because I received the newest in the series for my birthday, and I read the rest waaay back in the 80's !

Es, hope you're enjoying your day off

Joey's moving out tomorrow Joe and I are going to a graduation party, so I won't be around to see him leave, which is probably a good thing. His apt. is only about 7 miles away, so I'll stop whining now......I know it could be much worse.

This week I've walked 4 miles; my goal is to double that for next week.

HI to everyone...have a great weekend!

~Jen

Hello

I was out all day. I just got home & all I want to do is relax. Pete had a Drs. appt. this morning. He had a throat culture last week & they told us he had strep throat! I've never had strep throat. I hope I don't get it. He was on antibiotics all week. We went to the Wiz to find out how to set up this DVD/Video/CD player that we bought a while ago. Can't figure out the DVD part of it. The two of us trying to read the manual it was like the blind leading the blind Too bad David had to work today. He's a wiz at these things. So I lost Pete in the store as usual, when I looked over he was talking to a salesman about Optimum Online & he talked us into it. I can't wait to set it up. Since I'll be canceling AOL I wonder if I have to start over with a new screen name

Terri, how long are your in-laws staying?

Janie, have a great weekend. Hiking is great for the legs.

Sandy, I feel so bad for David Is he in a lot of pain? Happy to hear your Mom is doing better. Even though you lost 3 lbs. from being stressed out WAY TO GO anyway!

Jen, how are you feeling?

Papa Dianne, how are you?

Hi Mel

The weekend is here & I love it.
Have a nice evening everyone.

Love & Hugs,
Essie

Hi Guys:

Sandy - good to hear from you. Sorry about your son's arm, glad about your mom getting better and thrilled about your 3 lb. loss!! Great job.

Jen - Hope you're feeling better. How's the throat? You're right, you know, its probably better that your'e not there to see Joey leave. Its great that he lives close enough to visit often and don't worry, he'll probably bring you his laundry, lol.

Es - you are soooooooo sweet, you make me smile too amiga!
Sorry to hear about Pete's throat - no making out now, hear? just kidding, but seriously isn't that catching??? I hope he gets better soon. Tell David to come over to set up the darn DVD player, lol
That will make Pete feel better quicker!

Janie - Hope you and your family have a great time at Yosemite - sounds terrific.

Hey Zoe Girl - Oy vey, how are you? LOL - I bet you heard that saying a lot in Yonkers.

Terri - Enjoy (is that the right word? lol) your in-laws visit!

Hi Ruth, Myra, Mel - hope you are all doing well.

Well, tomorrow's weigh in and I'm not sure how that's gonna go - I ate pretty on-program this week, but didn't do much exercise, so we'll see. Whatever it is, I'll just have to face the music and try harder next week right?

I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll talk to you's soon!

Hugs,
Dianne

Hello my friends

Another weekend is here and I am going to be busy. I have so much planned, so much I want to do, so much to get done. I sure hope I stick to the 'plan'. Let's see......I want to sit down and plan my meals for this coming week, more healthy rather than "weight losing" if that makes any sense. I want to finish buying and planting more flowers and I want to get a few things straightened out in the house.....laundry, clean a few closets, etc. So yep, I have BIG plans that I hope I stick to them.

Mel ~ at your "Happy 40-something" line. Yes, still 40-something.

Jen ~ Wow, 4 miles this week......good goin'! Double next week? Ok....I feel so lazy thinking about you getting your butt in gear....(and making it smaller while you're at it....) Keep up the good work.

Janie ~ Glad to hear that you're walking again.

Dianne ~ I love your "Zoe Girl" ~ did you know that Zoe Girl is the name of a small singing group? I love the music they make. On that Oy Vey thing, I heard that so much and actually, it was a line of MINE that I used often. I lived in Spring Valley, across the Hudson River from White Plains. Oh, I miss it there but not the cold weather.

Es ~ Good going on not eating all those DOVES. I would have eaten many, many more.

Sandy ~ I hope David's wrist is okay and will heal fast. Glad to hear that your mom is doing so much better

Hi Terri, how are you doing?

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Have a great evening. Gotta run.

Love you guys,
Me <>< (I just love those pigs)

Hi everyone,

I've finally got a couple of minutes to myself. My son and husband have gone to a soccer game and my older two are sleeping still.

I just scrolled thru the last couple of days worth of notes - trying to get re-motivated. I saw that you all were encouraging Holly Girl and hopefully those words of inspiration will get me going too!

I weighed in two weeks ago and I think I was at 151 or 152. I've been trying to fit the walking in, but my foot hurts (Does this sound like I'm whining???) Went to the doctor's, just looking for a referral to a podiatrist. But they wanted me to have an x-ray and make an appt. with an orthopedic surgeon. They were thinking bone spurs? Has anyone had bone spurs?

Well, the x-ray was negative. Just some degenerative thing - so I might go to another doctor sometime in June. She's more of a sports med/rheumatologist. We'll see.

In the meantime, just soaked my foot and feels better....

On the bright side - I go to the Y's Fitness Camp for Women starting next Saturday! It's one week of whatever you want - lots of exercise options, delicious food straight from the WW cookbooks, and a wonderful bunch of women. It's my third year going. That should get me back on track...

OK, time to do the dishes.
Have a nice Sunday everyone.
