PINK FLAMINGO CAFE - Sunday, April 21

Good morning--everyone ready for another on program day?

Remember: when things in your life seem to spin out of control always remember one thing--we CAN CONTROL what foods we eat. :) And THAT will make you feel stronger!

I'll check in later...

HippyChick 04-21-2002 08:48 AM

Good morning PINKIES

I'm ready for another OP day Gail :D

Those are definitely words I want to be reminded of quite often. You've said them to me before, and they really help me to FOCUS on what I'm capable of doing.

Looks like we're gonna get a bit more rain here today in southwest Virginia. I know we can use it, but I was hoping to spend some time outside with my favorite person in the whole world...Preston. Maybe it'll clear up later today.

Okay, I'm gonna pour myself a coffee...can't believe I slept in this late...and plan out my meals for today.

I'll be back a little later.

GailR 04-21-2002 09:41 AM

...g'mornin' Judy, its going to be a rainy and cold day here in my part of the world. Gonna make some Country-French Vegetable Soup for lunch. Looks like it may be a good afternoon for reading...

Sharon 04-21-2002 09:56 AM

Good Morning Gail and Judy!

It is beautiful here. I swear we are trading off the bad and good weather. It will be in the upper 70's here.

Gail that soup sounds wonderful. I think you have sent the recipe to me before. I will have to look for it. Is it in the old threads recipe section?

Judy, my grandson was kind of standoffish with me for a long time. It hurt. Partly because I was able to see him come into this world. Now at almost 8, he has become so sweet and huggy with me. He stands and talks to me about is baseball. That little guy doesn't know how he has wrapped me around his little finger. My grandaughter has always been huggy but now she is preteen and acting like it. Rather aloof when we come in until I say a rather loud HELLO BECCA! Then she grins and comes over for a hug.

Have a wonderful day. I am going to go enjoy my yard.:D

HippyChick 04-21-2002 10:00 AM

Hi again Gail.

Yup, a good day for reading...or laundry...or vacuuming...or mopping the kitchen floor. Okay, so now you know what I'll be doing. :dz:
I haven't been able to find time to finish 'Dragonfly in Amber'... and I want to so bad. I could do a little reading in bed before I go to sleep but I'm usually so tired that my eyes won't co-operate.
HEY, I just remembered....Preston will be going with his other gramma this afternoon, so it IS a good day to sit and read. I bet I can do that between laundry loads. :D

Making soup eh? Mmmm....I love soup on a rainy, dreary day. I think I have all the fixins to throw on a pot too.

What is everyone else doing today? Any special plans? Any new recipes being tried out? :T

I'm slowly getting started here....I'll be back a little later. :spin:

HippyChick 04-21-2002 10:05 AM

Good morning Sharon :D We must've just bumped into each other!

I'm really lucky...Preston is the most loving little guy I know. He loves hugs and kisses. He kind of reminds me of my son James when he was little. James is 16 now, but still affectionate towards ol' mom. I guess they figure they may as well go along with it...why try to fight the crazy kissy woman.

Enjoy the good weather today...send some more our way!

GailR 04-21-2002 11:37 AM

Hi Sharon, our Amanda was a lot standoffish with Wayne and that hurt his feelings even though he didn't show it. However, in the last few months she's actually starting to want him to hold her...and he just melts. Becca sounds so normal for a preteen. :) I'm not sure if the recipe is there; if not, let me know and I'll email it to you. :D

Judy, glad to hear you that you're going to have some quiet time this afternoon--YOU NEED IT! :) Do ya really want to mop the floor? :?: Make Teri do it!

I'm still lounging around the house...I need to get going--gotta get gas into my car for the week and I need to go to the grocery store again--making macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. Hubby is very happy about that--he loooooooooooooves mac and cheese! ;)

Sharon 04-21-2002 11:53 AM

Gail, you also need to rest that foot of yours.

MrsDomino 04-21-2002 11:58 AM

Hi PINKIES!

Well I don't know what we were thinking...trying to go to camp and do a ball tournament at the same time. Ridiculous. I'm home now for a short time and then we'll be out the door for day 2. I'm not use to this all-day game things. By yesterday late afternoon I was wishing they'd lose so we could go home and not have to go back. Of course I didn't get my wish, we're headed back.

I did good yesterday btw. I back water bottles, 3 points sandwiches, grapes and granola bars. I headed back to camp with 21 points in for the day. Then I had some potato salad. Still I ended the day on program and dang but that felt good!

Gail - As you can see relaxing is not something I got done this weekend and it's not going to be any better today. It's motivating I bet to have Amy doing this with you this time. Gosh, Poor Amanda. I hope that picture comes out, she'll get a kick out of it when she's older to see that.

Emmy - Our seasonal site is only 30 minutes from us. This is our first seasonal site. We're still road warrior campers trying to get acclimated to this. I can see that it won't take long till the camper is bulging at the seams with things that we thing we just have to have. I didn't know that McDonalds make snack size fruit and yougurt cups. I"ll have to check our McD's.

Judy - Are you relaxing and reading between those laundry loads? I hope you're having a good weekend. You get all of those hugs and kisses from Preston now because when he grows older he's liable to be stingy with them.

Pat - It looks like it'll be a better week to walk. Except tomorrow it's suppose to rain.

Sharon - How are you doing this weekend?

Ok, guess I better go grab a quick lunch before we leave. I managed to stay away from the hamburgers and hot dogs at the games yesterday I don't want to blow it today. I think I still have a 3 point sandwich made up that I can eat. Talk to you later.

HippyChick 04-21-2002 12:01 PM

Good point Sharon!

Gail How DOES your foot feel after all that walking you did yesterday?

I edited my signature line PINKIES. I'm not sure how much I lost this week cuz I didn't weigh in at the beginning of the week. I knew it wouldn't be pretty and I didn't want to depress myself over it. But I hopped on the scale this morning and I'm down to 221. I want everyone to see that number going DOWN! Yeah baby!
:jig:

Christine You snuck in on me while I was posting. :D
Good to hear from you! Sounds like you are doing GREAT on program...keep it up chickie!
I'm doing way too much relaxing and not nearly as much laundry and cleaning as I should...bad bad me. :nono:

I'll be back...

GailR 04-21-2002 02:32 PM

Just got back from running errands and its raining outside now. I'm in for the day!

Judy, ohmigosh! You're doing fantastic! CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTIN' RID OF THOSE POUNDS FOREVER! :D

Christine, it wasn't the same without you yesterday! Sounds like you've been very busy! Good job <high-five!> I knew you could do it--stay on program!

Sharon and Judy, my foot...I think its getting better--at least I can see that my foot has gone in swelling. It still aches and yes, it hurt a lot last night but by this morning it was down to a dull ache. Just gonna take some time. Next week there is a car show that Wayne is entering the vette in...and I think I'm going with him...I'll be sitting...hmmm...come to think about that I had better start thinking of what I'm going to pack in the cooler to take with us. Then in two weeks we're going to a air show over in New Jersey and I'll be walking...I sure do hope my foot will be up to it. This not being able to walk as much as I would like is starting to wear on my nerves.

Sharon, do you need that recipe?

BBL

Sharon 04-21-2002 02:42 PM

Christine, I am doing fine. Trying to build up my determination that is constantly slipping. Today is good so far. It doesn't sound like you are getting any rest this weekend. I don't think I could handle those all day games. When the kids were young we did do swim meets and believe me those were long and hot (for those of us not in the water).

Gail, I haven't spotted the recipe yet. If you don't mind sending it to me again I promise to download it into my file. I am glad your foot feels better today. Now behave so it stays that way. Especially if you are going to the car show and air show.

I am heading back outside to watch Bill work. :D

HippyChick 04-21-2002 05:08 PM

Sharon Is your determination still strong? I know how easy it is to just give in...I'm constantly letting the determination slip. We're here for you...if you feel yourself slipping please don't hesitate to email one of us, okay?

Gail How frustrating it must be for you not being able to walk very well right now. It sounds like you're really putting forth an effort, but try not to overdo it, okay?
I'm popping the 1-mile walking tape into the VCR tonight, it'll be ready to go when I get back from dropping everyone off in the morning. :D

I had the most decadent treat this afternoon...but at only 4 yummy points. I took a WW mint ice cream sandwich and split it in two...drizzled some FF choc. syrup over half, and replaced the other half on top. I topped it with about a quarter cup of frozen FF cool whip, and then drizzled just a little more FF choc. syrup over top. I ate it slow and savored every bite. Man that was satisfying!

What is everyone making for supper tonight? I'm going to grill lean turkey sausages, and serve them with pan red potatoes and herbs. HUGE mixed salad with FF ranch dressing. :T

GailR 04-21-2002 06:30 PM

<groaning>...Judy!...THAT DESSERT YOU HAD SOUNDS DELICIOUS! :D So does your dinner btw! :D I'll be right over--save me a chair at your dinner table! ;) Me? I'm fixing Wayne's favorite macaroni and cheese--it is NOT low fat anything...and I have decided not to have any...I'm having a baked potato instead. :) Along with broiled porkchops and string beans. Made some breadsticks.

Sharon, I have to look for that recipe--I'll get that to as soon as I can. :) You doin' okay? :s:

Sharon 04-21-2002 06:58 PM

That dessert sounds great. We are having strawberry shortcake with homemade cake (reduced fat Bisquick).

I can't say that my determination is strong right now, but I am hanging in there and not about to give up totally. I have a bad day, I get back on it the next.

Gail, no rush on the recipe. Whenever you have time is fine.

MrsDomino 04-21-2002 08:32 PM

Well I'm back. Got out to the fields and the games were cancelled due to rain. There goes me saying that next weekend I was going to camp and not leaving till Sunday night. Stupid games are now next Saturday. <sigh> Anyways, we went back to camp and I curled up on the bed in a blanket and went to sleep. Slept right through till the last 30some laps of the Nascar race. I needed that, I feel much better.

Judy - I did do really great yesterday on program and it felt so good. I know that I can do this. If I can get through yesterday I can get through anything. Hey you need to relax, don't worry. Put everyone else to work. :s: <groan> that dessert sounds heavenly and very low point.

Gail - Have you got your foot up now. You've got some walking event coming up it looks like. Maybe you should get one of the stretchy angle sleeve like things to put on your foot when you walk. Don't know what it's called.

Sharon - When you feel that determination slip, come in here and post. We'll help you through. Did Bill work hard under your supervision?

Well ladies, I'm exhausted. I'm going into work late tomorrow because I have not babysitter and I have to get the kids on the bus. At least I get to sleep in later. Right now I have to make sure that everyone has clothes to wear tomorrow. See you all in the morning flamingos.

Sharon 04-21-2002 08:40 PM

Bill worked very hard with my supervision. I told him right where to put everything and he told me where he wanted the things to go. Who one the race? I forgot to look for it?

flicka_usa 04-21-2002 10:56 PM

Hi Pinkies

Busy day here... was out the doors at 9am to go wash clothes, came home to empty the car, went to the mall, went to pick up dd and grandkids, went to another mall, out to eat.. I was good... then to Wal-Mart...wow, where did the day go? :o

Gail I hope your foot is doing much better. If you find the soup, I would like the recipe too... pls ;) I had planned on walking today, but it's been raining...

Christine No walking tomorrow, it's to rain and I got new walking shoes today. Got asked tonight how many pairs of sneakers do I have.. well... lets not go there.. I got good ones this time.. better be for the price I paid. Glad to hear you got some r&r this weekend. I need some.. See you when you get into work. :p

Judy Did you get some reading done today? I went to the laundry mat to wash, yuck.. but I read the newspaper when I was there. Found some tank tops I had got last year, washed them up and now I am set for the summer, if we get some warm weather.. How is your little guy? Aren't they great when they are so young. My grandson always gives me hugs and kisses.. Have you taken any new pictures lately? How is George doing? Way to go with the weight loss, we are at the same weight now right.

Sharon How many grandkids do you have? I am glad I am so close to mine. Just wish I was a close to my dd, and I don't mean distance, I mean in friendship or should I say communications.

I guess Joyce is still off for the weekend, hope she is having a good time... :o

Emmy Hi, hope all is well with you and your family.

Well, I am off to bed, this week is a busy week, working every night and was asked to do a double on Saturday, one of the manager's has to put her dog to sleep, very hard time for her, and I know the feeling, we put ours down last year. Sunday going to Bull ride mania and then BRAD PAISLEY is playing. Oh, I think he is so cute...

Good night everyone.. I will leave a light on, cause Emmy might still be coming in to check that all is well... See everyone in the AM :smug:
