Well ladies I survived the first evening of my part-time job. I think I might enjoy it. It did drag on at times. But atleast I made it through. I am sure it will get easier as I go along. Hope you all had a wonderful day and stayed on plan. Hope you also got your exericise in too! I think I am going to go read a little and then go to bed. Chat with you all tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening.
Later,
Kerry

Kerry: I'm gonna put in my 2 cents, and you can feel free to ignore it...I just have to put it out there. After reading your post about your DH, I wanted to smack him. Sorry. My DH is no prince, and I do all I can to avoid confrontation as well, but girl, sometimes you've just got to tell it like it is. You don't have to say a word to do that. Go on ahead and make some plans with a girlfriend. You are making some extra cash right now, and since DH feels entitled to go out whenever he pleases, and stay out at all hours, what will prevent you from doing the same? You work, you take care of the kids, you are a GREAT WIFE. Call a friend and go out. HAVE SOME FUN!!!

Yesterday was full of stress, but it looks like there will be a light at the end of the tunnel regarding our money issues. Deep breath, sigh of relief.

My eating was good early in the day, but had pizza at MIL's which gave me bad indigestion well into the wee hours of the morning. It must have been cheap, fatty, mozzarella. Oh, and the two cosmopolitan's and potato skins I downed at an Irish pub on the way to MIL's probably didn't help!!! Stress eating and drinking, dontcha love it?!

DD spent last night at MIL's, and we did not get a call overnight. We are headed up to their house this AM. They live near the beach, so if the weather holds, we will spend some time at their beach. They are closer to the Atlantic, so the water is cleaner than where we are on Long Island Sound. Long Island Sound has gotten better thanks to "Save the Sound", but it still isn't very clean, hence our reason for having a pool.

Ginger & Mermaid, take care and enjoy your day!
Kerry, kick some ***! :kickbutt:

ECmom 07-27-2007 09:27 AM

Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta be a bit short, as I have a busy day here. My inlaws, complete with my wonderful (cough, cough) MIL are coming over tomorrow, and I need Martha Stewart to attempt to make some sense out of the 3 ring circus I call home. No fresh cut flowers here.....got some really prolific weeds though!
So, needless to say, I have tons to do. And am seriously where the "enjoy" part of this summer break went. Someone please remind me of what a great time I had camping........just one 2 1/2 day weekend of fun.

The gang's all here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kerry!!!!!!!!!!Welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gee, it is great to see each of you here (Ms Summerrrrr, thanks for being our social coordinator, it is so good to have each of you back). I was really excited when I saw Kerry's posts. I truly do mean it that I missed each of you. A wonderful sisterhood we have going here. Kerry, had little time to read carefully your posts- but I do agree with Ms Summerrrr- go ahead and get out with a friend. If mymemory serves me correctly, this has been an issue with your Dh before- he goes out fairly frequently and you are such a saint with his kids. (you tutored them all last summer if I remember correctly).
Take care of yourself.....you are a good woman.

Summerrrr- stress monster got to your house too?! I went to a meeting on Tuesday, there was a substitute leader for the day. She made a great point- during the normal year she uses Flex, for obvious reasons. But for summer and especially vacation- when life is more on the fly and she does not want to count points, she uses Core. Her logic made sense to me- and seriously, the elimination of all the trigger foods (bread, ice cream, cookies) works well for me for a short time. I could not live on Core because of its limitations, but to shake me fat a** , I am going on it. Perhaps it would work for you?
Hope the stress monster goes on a cruise to Austrailia (far enough?) and that you have a great day. Perhaps the somewhat shaky weather will hold off and you can get some beach time in. Hope so!

Ms Mermaid- how is your glorious self today!? I need to chat with you about my upcoming trip....

I have been busy- went to my Dm's Wednesday to do some work at her house- felt awful yesterday (summer cold stuff) and still feel a bit crummy today. But I must prepare for the onslaught tomorrow.....lots of cooking and cleaning to do today.
So I'd better get my rump in gear. Have a great day!
Ginger

KAR73 07-27-2007 12:23 PM

Just a quick hello! I am waiting on the hubby to finish getting ready then we are going out to lunch with the boys and their little friend. Unforunatley, we are not happy about the uninvited guest. He spent the night at the boys' mom's house and no one informed us that he was coming over to our house today or we wouldn't have minded. But this kid is a mouthy thing and is disrespectful.
Summerrr glad to hear that your dd was able to make it through the night at your inlaw's last night. Sorry to hear about your heartburn. Hope you are feeling better today and can get some swimming time in. Don't get too stressed out about your visit with your inlaws today. Hope your eating can stay on track.
Ginger, I sure have missed you all. That is why I am so glad that I got the message from Summerrr to join you all. You don't know how much I need the support from you great ladies. Just knowing that I have you to talk to and hold me accountable for my healthy lifestyle changes help. Hope you are able to survive your visit with inlaws this weekend. I will be thinking positive thoughts to help you get through the weekend.
Miss Mermaid, how is your Friday going? Hope all is well in the south for you.
As for the dh, I think you will all get a kick out of this comment. I told him and the boys this morning that now that I work on Friday nights until 10 and have to be back at work by 9 on Saturday morning that there will be no overnight guests at our house on Friday nights. Well dh agreed with me because he said that he is not watching a bunch of kids by myself. Fun isn't that it is okay for me to stay home and babysit a bunch of kiddos. He came home last night and wanted to chat after I had already been in bed. He acted all nice and loving asking about work. He is going to learn that things are really going to be different around here with me working two jobs and only really having Saturday afternoons and all day Sundays off. I don't plan on cleaning house and doing a whole lot of crap on my days off. I am going to stick to that plan too. SO PLEASE REMIND ME OF THAT AT TIMES OKAY?
Well I better go and get the gang moving. Maybe I can sneak in a nap this afternoon too.
Well hope all everyone is having a great Friday!
Take care,
Kerry

HatterasMermaid 07-27-2007 09:32 PM

Hey a quick fly by......
Hope everyone is doing well....

Kerry, you are a saint! I bet I could have dropped mouthy, disrespectful friend right off at his address on the way home from bioMom's...with the "we didn't know and no one checked with us...Sorry, but it just doesn't work for us today!" with a smile as you back out the driveway leaving extra kid behind! :) The story changes with DH when HE has to take care of his offspring, huh?! Kinda ironic, huh?! Hang in there and don't kill yourself with all these jobs you're doing!

Summer, What a big girl your DD is changing into! Right before your eyes!! :) Glad to hear that there was not a midnight journey! Hope the weather held out for you to stick your toe in the Atlantic! You know how I love THAT body of water! Sighhh! I long for a pool........ we're too far away from the ocean to get there on a regular basis...and the River just doesn't cut it! bleech ...jellyfish season!

Ginger, YES! Let me know about your travel plans via PM, please! I will do all I can to make it work this time! Also, google Hatteras and plovers and see what is currently happening with beach driving and such! I can't remember what your family prefers but there are some things happening down there..... I can't remember if you have my phone numbers... let me know via PM and we can chat about this subject if you're interested! GaWWWD bless you ..... Hope that visit with your inlaws goes well. Sighhh!

Daph, you still around? Melting in that Florida sun and heat? Hope this week was a successful week for you!

Our youngest got his braces on today and is nearing miserable....for so many reasons.... I feel badly for him. DH has to work tomorrow (it is his "Tuesday") so the weekend will just be like other days for us........ OH and I forgot to weigh in this morning... will try to remember in the morning!

Off to the attic to put in a few hours of cleaning in the cooler temp of the night! Did great with food intake UNTIL boys started messing with each other and youngest began crying over his mouth hurting... STRESS eating.... dang. what regret!

til tomorrow...
take care,
meeeeee

Summerrrr 07-28-2007 10:55 AM

Kerry: I think you can count on the three of us to remind you what you need and deserve. I second Mermaid's reply.

Ginger: I hope your MIL time flies by quickly. I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

Mermaid: Re: pool, all we have is an easy set ring pool. They aren't expensive. When DD was little, we had a 12' round, 24" deep pool. As she got bigger, the pool got bigger. We now have an 18', 42" deep pool. It has a filter and uses chemicals just like a regular above ground pool. We know a lot of people that don't even have kids, but want to be able to cool off at the end of the day and have a pool like this. When our financial situation improves in the next few years, we will get a deeper above ground pool and eventually will extend our deck around it. For now, this is the cheap way to enjoy a pool every day. In fact, we got our 18' at an end of summer sale for half off. It's something to think about.

Yesterday, we drove to get DD and made plans to pack her up, take her out for lunch (since I knew her breakfast wasn't going to be very hearty), and go to the beach. I was right, she had a slice of white bread toast with butter. I prefer her to have some protein as a part of her breakfast, not to mention the fact that I would expect grandparents to make a special breakfast for their grandchild's visit. Silly me!:dizzy: They had no kid friendly food in the house.:p I shouldn't be surprised. No hugs. No special treats. Sounds about right.:( Okay, so we arrived around 11am to smell vegetable soup cooking. Who thinks DD will eat this?!:?: Duh! So, guess what she had for lunch? Another slice of white bread toast.:p I ate the small bowl of vegetable soup as I fantasized about stopping at a restaurant for lunch. DH was given a huge bowl with lots of noodles and rye bread. There was none left for seconds, so I was STARVING. DD was STARVING. DH didn't seem to understand why we weren't satiated. AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, big surprise when we didn't stop for lunch and proceeded to the beach. I saw a snack bar and rallied a little. Unfortunately, it only served candy and ice cream.:p The weather turned into a beautiful sunny day, and we were able to enjoy an afternoon at the beach until our hunger pains could no longer be ignored. I had wanted to try a fabulous seafood restaurant on the water at home complete with frozen pina coladas, but that would mean waiting two more hours and that wasn't happening! So, we quickly changed and picked up DD's things at MIL's...getting out of there was nearly impossible, and my biggest fear was that she was gonna try to make us stay for dinner.:( We ended up eating at a horrible fried food place near their house as I prayed that I didn't get sick. We were desperately hungry, and DH thought this was the ticket. Yeah, the ticket to diarrhea and high calories.:p And, there was no alcohol. I really needed something to drink after all of that MIL time. I can only take her in very small doses, and I had O.D.ed on her for sure. As I ate my FRIED CLAMS AND FRENCH FRIES, for the first time since 8am, my stomach was feeling some sense of relief that I had not forgotten it existed. My stomach was able to put out of its mind the calories and good chance that I would most likely be vomiting or have explosive diarrhea later in the day, probably on the road home. DH only ordered a lobster roll. So he had the nerve to eye my food. I asked him why he didn't order more food, and he said he would eat whatever I didn't finish. Well, totally out of character;), I snapped at him and told him to get his own dinner. We had words. But, he quickly went in search of his own food. I inhaled every last CLAM AND FRY.:ink: I wasn't even ashamed. I'm still not. Hey, DD and I were desperately deprived of a decent lunch. (Poor DD hadn't had a decent meal since lunch the previous day.) We drove the long drive home. Miraculously enough, I didn't get sick, I took a strong antihistamine, and knocked out around 8:30pm. This morning I woke up refreshed.

Today, who knows?

KAR73 07-28-2007 03:51 PM

Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Boy what a day it has been already for me. I had to get up at 6 to get everyone else and then went back to bed until 7:30. Then I got up and did a walking video and then hit the shower. Got ready for work and started at 9. Mind you it was my third day and they are suppose to be training me to be successful. Do you think anyone really helped me today? No but at 1:15 the one manger came over to me and told me to log off and go home. Since I was struggling on my sales today and my numbers had fallen. He didn't want me to go too far below and then they would have to fire me. Don't you think it would have made more sense to sit with me and maybe figure out what I was doing wrong for the next 45 minutes of my work shift than to send me home early? Oh well I went home changed clothes and then out the door to the ball game. I have a little break before the next one at 5. So far they have won their games. So it looks like we are going to be playing again tomorrow.
Here is a chuckle for you all ladies! I guess Mr. Mouthy asked if he could spend the night with us last night. My dh was like no sorry we have to be up early tomorrow. Thank goodness when I got home last night from work, he was home and stayed home with the boys for a change. I guess he made one of our friends mad because he didn't go out with him last night. I told my dh you do know if I would have came home from work and you told me that you were leaving and I was in charge of the boys, I probably would have done bodily harm to you right. SO he must be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. For a change.
Ginger, I am thinking positive thoughts about your weekend visitors and sending them your way. Hope everything is going smoothly for you!
Miss Mermaid, did you get over your stress eating from yesterday? How is the cleaning of your attic coming along? So what exiciting big plans do you for your day? How is your ds handling day two of braces? I had them and remember the first few days getting use to them. Tell him it does get easier.
Summerrr, sounds like you had an interesting day yesterday. Hope your fried clams and french fries didn't get you any problems today. Glad your dd made it through the night at your inlaw's. I can't image on eating two pieces of toast. If you are going to have your grandchild over you think they would have planned better for the visit. Glad you survived. So what big plans do you have for today?
Well I better go and see about getting a few minutes of a catnap before it is out the door for the last game of the day.
Chat with you all later.
Kerry

KAR73 07-29-2007 08:43 AM

Morning,
Just a drive by to say hi to everyone. Boy what a crazy weekend this has been already. My one stepson got hurt yesterday in the last game of the day. He went to get a ball at third base and caught it with his right inside ankle. So it is badly bruised. His mom wasn't even at his game and we had to call her to tell her to come pick him up to take him to the doctor. You think if your child had gotten hurt that you would rush to get there. After an hour is when she showed up and she didn't seem to concerned about it. Today we have all day at the ball fields again and then the boys swimming party from 6 to 10 at the city pool for their regular ball team. So I don't think we are going to be at home at all today. What a great way to enjoy a day off!
Hope you all have a great day!
Later,
Kerry

KAR73 07-29-2007 02:25 PM

Taking a quick pit stop to say hi to everyone. The boys lost their game today. So they are out of the tournment. They all got down in the first inning and couldn't focus the rest of the game. They did make a strong come back, but didn't win. SO they were all mad and blaming each other. It was embarrassing! We eat at McDonald's twice today. The first time dh and I went for breakfast. I had a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. Then when the team went after their game, I got a Southwest Chicken Salad. It was good! Boy is it hot here today. I am tired and worn out. So I am going to go take a nap. Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday! Ginger is your visitors gone yet?
Talk to you all later.
Take care,
Kerry

HatterasMermaid 07-29-2007 10:38 PM

day with lots of thunder and lightning and computer turned off....

Just running by as I'm pulling in our email.........
wanted to say hi! Will check into tomorrow morning...

KAR73 07-30-2007 02:41 PM

Hi Ladies,
This is just a drive by from me today. I have been having the day from h@##. It is my dh's birthday today and you think he was a freakin' king of some country. The way he is acting. He has gotten on the boys cases about their poor attitudes yesterday during and after their game. Then he lit into his daughter about her weight problem. Needless to say it was decided last night that we were cleaning house today because he needs cleaned. Well guess who is doing? I have cleaned almost all of it. I have the bathroom to finish and then sweep the floor in our bedroom and I am done for the day. He told me that he didn't know what he was doing tonight for his birthday. I said I didn't really care because I knew what I was doing. Going to work from 5 to 10. Then coming home and probably crashing. Needless to say the only workout I am getting today is cleaning the house. He is mad because his kids didn't get him a card or a gift for his birthday. But guess what I am not going to go and save the day this time. He doesn't think to do things like that for me when it is my birthday. SO he can see how it feels to do and do things for people that you love and then get pooped on. Boy can you tell that I am in a great mood today. Hope that little manager isn't working tonight that sent me home early on Saturday. Or I might just the jerk off and walk out the door.
Hope everyone else is having a much better day. I will check back in with you after work tonight.
Talk to you later,
Kerry

HatterasMermaid 07-31-2007 12:02 AM

Hi. It is 11:40 PM and for the first time all day I've sat down in front of the computer. The morning was filled with thunder, lightning and lots and lots of rain. Had to take son #2 to the doctor mid day as he has been moping all weekend with a sore throat and a mild fever. Good thing I took him as the mild fever was 103 by the time we got to the doctor's office..... He has strep throat. Off to the pharmacy to get his prescription while calling his friend's via cell phone to cancel all plans for the week. Return home to son #1 complete with attitude. (I swear I understand why some species eat their young!) A dear friend called me this afternoon to ask that I help her write a letter for her son's school. (He was denied admittance to a program that he truly needs due to some political stuff....) So I went over to her house for a few hours to write the letter...returned home to cook dinner, walk the dog, and then go up into the attic for a bit of cleaning. (Tomorrow is trash day! Didn't want to miss someone else hauling this junk away!) Meanwhile, dealing with teenage angst and sick kid...... Tonight, somewhere on our property our doggie's friend was nearby. The skunk smell was horrible....... Sent the boys to "patrol" and follow their nose...but they didn't see anything. Dog and skunk met one day in mid May and we are still reminded of their little visit each and every time doggie gets wet. YUMMY.....not! I can't begin to tell you how NOT interested I am in their reunion!

Kerry, how was work tonight? What kind of work are you doing? Sorry you had to spend your day cleaning house. Sorry that the boys had bad attitudes during and after their loss. Nothing is more embarrassing than being one of the adults in charge of kids who "show themselves" in that manner during and after a baseball game. I say baseball as my boys are baseball players too...and the oldest has had similar issues during his last season of playing! So I know! Sorry that DH is being less than DEAR!

Gotta go get meds into son, shower and head to bed. Heading over to visit an old friend tomorrow morning. I've not seen her in several months.....but I will be around later in the day!

Summer and Ginger, where are you? Hope all is well. Neither of you offed your inlaws, I hope! :)

take care,
meeee

KAR73 07-31-2007 03:06 AM

Evening Ladies,
Haven't been to bed yet. Just got home a little bit ago from our friend's house. They had to play cards this evening. But I had a great evening. Dh got out of his bad mood and told me that if I didn't feel comfortable working for this company that I could quit. Told him that I would stick it out until school started. Left the house got to the parking lot and turned around and came home. Decided that my mental and physical health was worth a lot more than working for that company. I made phone calls on behalf of National Geographics. If I didn't met the goal of two sales per hour I heard about it the three days I worked there. So I decided that I didn't need some young punk telling me what to do in a snotty little voice. After I called in and told them that I just wasn't cut out to work for them, I felt like a 100 pound weight was lifted off my shoulders. Dh and I went out for cheeseburgers and then went to our friends house. So the end of the day was much better. While at our friend's house, she gave us a dessert to try. It was homemade angel food cake cut up in little squares, low-fat raspberry yogurt and sugar-free raspberry jello topped with low fat cool whip. It was very yummy!
Well tomorrow I have my weigh in at TOPS. I am hoping all goes well.
Miss Mermaid sorry to hear that ds is sick. Bet that is no fun being stuck at home sick during the summer. Glad you got out for a little bit and went to your friend's house. Did you clean out more junk from your attic?
HI to Summerrrr and Ginger. Hope you are all doing well. I think I might be able to go to sleep now. I will chat with you all tomorrow.
Take care,
Kerry

Summerrrr 07-31-2007 10:21 AM

Kerry: Glad you had fun with friends till all hours! Have you ever thought of teaching summer school, working a summer recreation program, or tutoring? I do the after school program during the year, and it is quite lucrative. If I need, I may teach summer school at some point.

Mermaid: No, MIL is safe...for now. I've come up with a compromise. Using diplomacy that would make you proud, I suggested to DH that we spend two nights with in-laws and then drive down to Disneyworld for three nights when we go to Florida. He wanted to know why we would only stay with them for two nights, and I explained that with all of us being together in such small quarters, it would be best to make it a shorter visit. He didn't seem to really "get it," but since he loves Disneyworld, I don't think it will be too hard to drag him away knowing that Epcot was waiting for him just hours away! The hard part will be actually pulling this off. MIL's is like the Hotel California...you can check in anytime, but you can never leave!

Ginger: I'm glad you seem to have survived the onslaught of your MIL. YOU KNOW I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

Well, I woke up with my period with horrible cramps. I have a nasty zit on my chin. And, although I wish I could do nothing all day, I have to do errands that just can't wait.:p But, once I'm done beebopping around town, I will be found on either a couch tuning into my soaps or my lounge chair by the pool. So far, the motrin has not kicked in.:p This really blows because I just got my head back on straight to stick to WW and exercise, and now I just want comfort food and sleep. Whatever.

ECmom 07-31-2007 10:39 AM

Good morning.
Sorry to be MIA, things have been so busy. I am trying to get Ds's fall registration figured out.....so much darned stuff to do.....kids to keep busy (I am tired of that!) and tired of attitudes. I actually have chosen to work (just 1 1/2 hour each morning) just to get out and do something without listening to whining. Sad, isn't it!

Kerry- glad you dumped such a stressful job. Who needs that kind of abuse!?
Also good to hear that Dh is in a better mood. It helps so much!

Ms Mermaid- hope that the teenage attitudes and strep are not ruling your house too much! And that neither is contagious......the attitudes or strep!
I will PM you with our plans.....which are still tentative. Enjoy your visit with your friend.

Summerrrr-your pool sounds much like mine. We did, (remember I have 2 older kids too) graduate from the ring pool to one made by the same company, that is sort of like a real pool, but must be taken down each year.
This sucker is huge, for its type- think it is 42" deep. I spent a whopping $450 at Target on it.....and love it. This is its second year and I hope we can get a few more out of it. Can't afford a real pool, but it is wet and it works.
How did your situation work out? I feel your pain with regards to the inlaws.

Daph- hope we did not scare you away........you doing ok?

Yup, I walked to and from work today....so got my AP's in. Now if I could just keep my darned mouth shut (darned stress monster!) I would be fine.
Guess I'd better go. See ya!
Ginger
