    Have a great Friday Buddies

    Hugs,
    Essie
  • I am so stressed out. Everything is going wrong today, but I am trying to stay out of the kitchen so I don't go off program to boot. I hate when things go out of control.
  • Myra, be strong!!! You've been doing so well, I hope you're dealing with the stress and not going into that kitchen! What a fantastic loss you posted you go!

Ruth, I wish I was working on my master's! I never went to college, got married at 18, had kids, and worked for 24 years. Now I'm taking some time off and I've just begun to take a few classes. This semester it's an accounting class, which I really like. I'm undecided about actually pursuing a degree, and am just taking what interests me right now. I'll probably still be a student with no degree when I'm 70!

Dianne, Terri's right, you can stick at 49. I'm all for changing the name of this thread to accomodate any of us!

Janie, what a cute story about your birthday dinner. That's how great traditions are born!

Terri, are you driving to Ohio to spend Christmas with your family again this year? You and Es are both Chinese food lovers; lol.....I could do with having it once a year. Joe is like you, could eat it every day.

Es, I'm feeling better today. Still have lots of congestion and cough, but the achiness is gone. Can't let it get to me, too much to do! Thanks for asking.

    have a great day everyone

    ~Jen
  • Hi all,

My name is Sandy and I am going to be 49 on Monday. So I only have one year to be a part of this friendly group.
I have just rejoined WW for the n+1 time. I am feeling brave but unsure of myself for trying to get started at this intensely food oriented time of the year. I figure that if I can succeed now, January will be a piece of cake (low point of course).

I just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary and have a real peach of a spouse. I also have 2 sons a 20 year old in college, and a 14 year old who is a freshman in high school. I would love to join and give and receive support on this WW journey.

    Sandancy
  • Hi Sandy and welcome, welcome, welcome. I just turned 49 this past Tuesday and I told the girls I'd have to leave next year too - but they won't let me. They said they'll change the name if they have to So, if I must stay, you must stay too! This is a great group of women, very supportive and fun too. I'm sure you'll like being here.

Myra - Sorry you're so stressed right now, take it easy. You've been doing so well, your last loss was awesome. Just hang in there.

Jen - Glad you're feeling better.

Es - What are you cooking for Christmas? We will be going to my step-daughter's and each of us will cook something. We'll have pernil, arroz con gandules, pollo, pasteles, empanadillas, ensalada de pulpo, etc., etc.

Can't wait and I'll tell you all right now, I am going to enjoy every bit of it! I refuse to be concerned about dieting on a holiday, so sue me

Hi to everyone - have a great Friday and an even better weekend.

    Hugs,
    Dianne
  • Welcome to our group, Sundancy. I think you will find us very supportive. BTW we won't kick you off next year. You are welcome as long as want to post. Also happy anniversary.

I am 43, married to a great guy and have a 16 year old son. I've been a lifetime member of WW since 1991, when I lost 55 lbs. I went back a few years ago, heavier than I've ever been and have since lost 32 lbs. bringing me 20 lbs. or so away from goal. I attribute much of my success to the support from this group.

I look forward to hearing more from you.
  • Man, I misse one evening and look a whole new thread. Let's have a cyber party when we reach one hundred.

    Hi Sundancy,
Welcome!!!! You sound like you have a lovely family.
I am Terri and I am 42. I have a wonderful husband of 19 yrs. named Bruce and three kids, Brittany (14), Brandon-(10) and Bradley (8). I have been a ww since the 80's. I am a lifetime member and I recently reached my ww goal a month ago. I have lost 60 pounds this time and hopefully the last.
    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
    We won't kick you out!!!

    Hi Es,
I don't know where Patti/Zoe is. I might e-mail her and see. I hope thay are all ok. I am feeling alot better. Thanks. Might really start exercising harder today.
I love your jumping Santa attachment on page 2 of the last thread. He looks like he is on ww and drank too much water.

    Myra,
I hope you are feeling better now. Hang in there and talk to us whenever you need to. You have been doing so well. I know you can handle this. You are strong woman.

    Jen,
Yes, we are driving up on the 20th. My sister got us, for Christmas, 2 tickets to see my Steelers. We are going to the Detroit - Steelers game in the NEW stadium. They have a hall called "THe Great Hall" that the 70's Steelers cutomized. Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris etc... came in and made up there own spaces from the 4 Super Bowls they won. I can't wait to see it.
We have some tailgating to do too.

    Well girls. TTYL,
    Terri
  • Terri - I'm so confused Your parents are in Ohio, you're going to a Pittsburgh Steelers game (isn't that in Pennsylvannia?) and its a Detroit/Steelers game -- isn't Detroit in Michigan??? Holy, moly - no wonder I don't understand this football stuff - its all over the place!

    Hugs,
    Dianne
  • Sandy, Welcome! Doesn't matter how many times you've joined WW, we've all been there. Some of us more than others Looking forward to getting to know you; everyone here is great. I, for one, feel that we all share much more than the desire to lose weight, now that we've gotten to know each other, it goes beyond that. So, have fun and jump right in!

Terri, what a great gift! Tailgating.......be sure to dress warm you'll have a blast. It'll be so cool to see the new facility.

Dianne, that settles it....I'm coming with you for Christmas dinner. The menu sounds awesome!

    later,
    ~Jen
  • You guys are just too funny. That's why I look forward to coming here

Welcome Sandancy This group is very supportive & lots of fun as you can see. Nice of you to join us.

Dianne, we don't know what we're having yet. Pete LOVES ensalada do pulpo! He said he wished I knew how to make it. Yeah Right!!! He better go to La Lechonera Restaurant here in LI to buy some.

I am so pysched. When Pete gets home we're going to go buy a tree. I get like a little kid. That's cause I love Christmas so much.

Terri, you made me crack up about my Santa Isn't he cute & chubby?

Myra, hang in there Bud. We all have those days. I hate feeling out of control! Come back & talk to us

Jen, glad you're feeling a little better. Any plans this weekend with the family?

I really miss Zoe I hope she comes back.

    Be back later

    Love,
    Essie
  • Myra,
You are awesome loosing 3+ lbs in one week at this time of year. I know that you are going through a stressful time with work and all but please try to enjoy the holidays. I have a question for you, and you can e-smack me if I am off target. I have gotten the impressions from some of your posts that you, or at least part of your family, is Jewish. My DH is also Jewish and I am looking for a low point Latka recipe for next week. I found one on the net but the only difference was to bake them instead of frying. Do you or anyone you know have any ideas?

    Sandy,
Welcome to our little party! I am 43 (for another couple of weeks anyway) have a great husband named Steve, and a daughter, 8 yrs, named Ellen.

    Hi everone,
I just came back from a parent/teacher conference with Ellen's teachers. I am on cloud nine, right now. It is great when the teachers say "they love having your child in their class", "she is very mature and looked up to by the other children", "you 2 are doing a great job raising her". It's nice to know that I'm doing something right, but most of the credit should really go to Ellen. She really is terrific, if I say so myself.

Hope everone else has a reason to celebrate today too.

    Hugs,
    JanieD
  • SANDANCY, welcome! We are happy to have you join us. I've been with the group for a few weeks now and they are fabulous ladies and very supportive.

I'm Ruth, I'm 43 years old, married for 17 years to a wonderful man, I have two daughters ages 24 & 20, three grandchildren ages 8, 3, 5 months and one on the way (due anyday)!! This is my 3rd time with ww and I'm really positive about the outcome this time. I rejoined ww the week before Thanksgiving and I was thinking like you, I'd be ahead of the game when January rolls around. There is just something about January, you're positive when it begins and then at some point you ease back into the old ways. So by jumping on the band wagon now, I'll get through January just fine, and so will you. Good luck through the holidays, you'll be fine.

JANIE, you sound like a very proud mom with every right to be!! Congratulations on the glowing remarks for Ellen.

ES, have fun getting a tree. I love decorating the Christmas tree. I don't plan on putting mine up until week after next. I'll have a lot more free time after next week. But I have done all my Christmas shopping though.

MYRA, I hope your feeling better. When I'm having one of those days were everything seems to go wrong and I feel like eating uncontrollably, I usually do. It is better if you don't give in, but if you do, keep your kitchen stocked with low pt. food. I keep mine stocked with lots of 2 pt snacks like frozen fruit, fresh fruit, skinny cows, pop corn, etc... But the whole time I'm eating I keep up with the points so that I don't go over for the day. I usually eat until I'm stuffed and I'm not hungry the rest of the night. I think one key factor is knowing and controlling what you're doing. Even though I give into eating, I controll what types of food I eat. Fortunately I don't have these episodes everyday, thank goodness.

JENNY, I plan on being a student the rest of my life. I plan on getting my degree in accounting. Then I will take night courses toward a masters in business. I also plan on getting a degree in psychology. I may not use it for anything, but I love psych courses. I'm also interested in criminal justice so I may take courses in that also. So as you see, I plan on staying in school forever. Have you registered for the next semester? I've signed up for 16 hours. One hour is conditioning exercise, decided that with the great gym we have I might as well start taking advantage of it. Good luck on you final. I've got three Tuesday, one Wednesday, and one Thursday. Then four weeks of rest and relaxation. WRONG, four weeks of getting my home back in order

    Take care everyone.
    Ruth

  • Myra, all this time I thought you were african amercian. Duh! I guess your name thru me off. Whatever latkes are they sound
    d-e-l-i-c-o-u-s!

Sandancy, now that I have more time I can tell you alittle about myself. I'm 47 yrs. old. Been happily married for 21 yrs. & I have a 30 yr. old unmarried son {{{errrrr}}} I want grandchildren so bad. The girls know I'm always mentioning it. I'm the on & off WW. I have 30 lbs. to lose. I think joining WW before the holidays is a great idea. I useto do that all the time. Keeps you focused! Good luck

Ruth, I was just reading your post to my hubby. You go girl!!!! I admire you for going for your degree. I think that's great! Good idea about the low pt. snacks. I always feel like snacking.

Jen, my tree is up. It's very patriotic this year. Red, white & blue. Tonight I'll finish wrapping the rest of the gifts then I'm done. Next week I have a baby shower to go to. I'm really not into it. Did you ever hear of a baby shower for 6:00 pm - 12:00 am? That's an extra gift I have to go out & buy

JanieD, Ellen sounds very special. I know how it feels to hear what a great job you did raising them. If you knew my David you'd see why. We are very proud of him. Ellen has great parents so that's why she's a great kid

Terri, can you send me Zoe's email? I'm really concerned We haven't heard from her in quite a while.

Let me jump in the shower, get dressed & head out early to the supermarket. See you all later.

    Love,
    Essie
  • Ruth, you are really focused on your goals, that's great. Yes, I have registered for the next semester, for one accounting class. I also do the bookkeeping for my husband's business, so I'm fine with just the one class.

Es, we switched to an artificial tree years ago, the cleanup of the needles was such a hassle, especially when we lived in an apt. Every year now I say "let's get a real one", but we talk ourselves out of it. Red white and blue is such a fitting theme for this year, this Christmas is so special for everyone. You're so funny....latkes are potato pancakes. I'm not Jewish, but do know my food!!

Myra, I noticed that the recipe you posted uses sweet potato in addition to regular, is that always the case? I haven't made potato pancakes in years (because we don't fry anything anymore) but am going to try this one.

Janie, I love the "e-smack" phrase!!! You and your husband are deserving of all the praise. Ellen sounds like a lovely girl. We were always told the same by Joey's teachers, it was almost embarassing at times. But it is great to hear that from people outside of the home and family, who see your daughter in a different environment.

Terri, did you email Zoe? Perhaps it's the season, the boards here do become quite quiet in the month of December. Tomorrow we play the Packers.....a true battle for 1st place....I'm nervous already!

We're finishing up the decorating today, am really behind this year. Tonight I've got to begin wrapping gifts. Tomorrow Jess, Mike, and the boys are coming to spend the day and have dinner. I look forward so much to the boys' visits, it's such a blast to play with them and be silly.

    have a wonderful weekend....
    love to all
    ~Jen
