Hi Everybody I got my flu shot yesterday. I have been getting them for about 3 or 4 years. People with diabetes are usually encouraged by their doctors to have the shot. I have never experienced any effects from them in the past. Yesterday, after receiving my shot I went grocery shopping and ran into a gal I met at WW some time ago and she told me she had been to see her doctor. I told her I had gone too, but just for a flu shot. She said, she doesn't get them anymore because a couple of years ago she was really sick (with flu like symptoms) the day after. I told her I had never felt sick from having the shot. WELL......this morning I woke up and felt like a truck had run over me.
We had the grandchildren here for a sleep over, and I could hardly get out of bed. Every bone in my body hurt. Our Son picked the children up around 11:00 AM and then in the early afternoon I had a nap for about 1-1/2 hours and now I am feeling quite a bit better. I think I would rather be sick for just a "few" hours, then days with a flu, but I was really surprised I was sick at all. Do any of you gals get flu shots?????
Our Son managed to see quite a bit of New York during the 4 days he was there. He said if a road had 3 lanes for the traffic you can bet the cars are travelling 5 abreast, with horns honking all the time.
He, and the co-worker he was travelling with, got tickets to see Dave Letterman. He said the show is held in the old Ed Sullivan building and he estimated the show could seat approx. 2000 people. He did not make any effort to see the ruins of the Trade Center. He said, it was not a tourist attraction anymore. I guess that is certainly true.
We got a new VCR and between DH and I we tried to figure out how to work it...........GRRRRRRRRRR
My advise gals, do not try programming a NEW VCR with your DH.
Fortunately, DS came to our aid. I get so angry with myself when I can't figure things like that out for myself. It took him only a 1/2 a minute to show me what to do.....I mean it's simple enough.
Maria I hope you enjoyed your shopping date with your DD and that you managed to find something you liked.
I tried to look up "blue wrens" but I guess that is not the "real name" of the little birdie, so I came up empty handed.
Lily and Karen oh Lordy, I thought you gals forgot about those "Christmas Tree Skirts". I think since I am busy doing, "you know what" for "you know who", you should ask "you know who" for a tree skirt. LOL LOL
Peggy how did your craft show go. Did you gals sell all your snowmen?
Trudy I understand you are out again tonight, I hope you have a lovely evening.
Ann I think we all get those nights from time to time when we are just are not going to sleep. I either get up and read for a bit or come to the computer.
Glenda my husband's Mother and her sister both had the same beautiful Royal Crown Derby bone china dinner pattern called "Mikado". When they both died, I inherted both the sets. It is white with a blue pattern of Japanese figures, trees, and I think pagoda's. It looks best if placed on a matching blue table cloth or white. It's a bit busy I guess but over the years I have grown to love it. When I first got it, I only used it on "very special occasions", but over the years I decided that my meals looked better and tasted better if they were served on these nice dishes. I actually use them quite often now. Well I guess I talked enough for one night, see you all tomorrow. Night.
