I buy the McCann's in a 16oz box at Giant Eagle for about $3...Heinens has them, but are a bit more $, I think. Tops used to be most reasonable, but that isn't a choice anymore. Yes, they are more expensive than rolled oats, for sure. I haven't found anywhere around me that sells them in bulk. Maybe Mustard Seed. If you like regular oatmeal, you will probably like these, but they are more work to prepare. Regular oatmeal is like white rice to me and steel cut oats is like brown rice--more nutty, with a slightly crunchy mouth feel.

I also wanted to say, although the box looks small, it acutally makes quite a bit. The cooking directions calls for 1 cup of oats to 4 cups of water to yeild a serving for 4. One serving, according to the nutrition label is 1/4 c dry. So I just make it for myself using a 1/4c oats to 1 cup water, and it turns out just fine.
