Can I just say how proud I am of all of us for sticking to this?! I am really getting a kick out of how excited we all are at the prospect of eating healthy foods! Am I the only SuperFood nut out there or do you guys find this to be fun, too! I have NEVER, EVER gotten excited about any 'diet' I've ever been on or any eating plan that I've tried. This is too good to be true!

Sometimes I forget that I'm trying to lose weight! Well, I don't forget that often, but I really am not focused on it that much. I'm having too much fun trying out new recipes, finding out about new foods, and laughing and learning with you guys. What a great experience this is turning out to be for me!

Anyways, this was just a note to tell everyone to keep it going. I love this forum and don't know where I'd be without it!

~Hope~

It really is amazing how everyone is embracing this lifestyle. But I think the key is that we're doing it not only to lose weight, but to become healthy overall.

And no, you're not the only Superfood nut!!!

I do love eating healthy. My DF is also involved in my eating healthy lifestyle so it is even more fun. I try to make sure I am eating lots of superfoods and I definitely try to mix it up.

I agree, it's quite fun learning about nutritive properties of food and such. I love reading about all the nummy-sounding recipes and combinations everyone comes up with!

At this point in my weight loss, focusing on something other than the scale is really good for me. I'm still PROUD AS HECK to announce that I lost 2.5 pounds this past week, but I'm also proud that I'm learning to treat food as nutrition and not as an unhealthy emotional outlet.

I can't wait to bring a superfoods salad to the next potluck that I get invited to.

Hey guys!
I was really glad to find this forum...
When I think about dieting and losing weight, I just can not eat healthy, it seems to come easier when I think of my health and eating REAL food.
I am not really religious, but it started coming to my mind, did God give us this food? (Of what I was about to eat) I don't think He would give us processed crap.
Is the book I am looking for Superfoods RX? I am putting in an order to Amazon. Any other reccomendations?

I love this:

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated
the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and
red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and
healthy lives.

Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream
and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with
that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're
at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan
smiled.

And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure
that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the
wheat and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from
size 6 to size 14.

So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented
Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the
side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.

God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil
in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and
chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained
more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.

God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food
Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and
named it "Devil's Food."

God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose
those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so
Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman
laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.

Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming
with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the
starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.

God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and
still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its
99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?"

And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It
is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.

God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

Then Satan created HMO's.

Hello LadyNorth! Yes, the book is titled SuperFoods RX: Fourteen Foods That Will Change Your Life by Steven Pratt, M.D., and Kathy Matthews. Some of us have also bought his follow up book titled SuperFoods HealthStyle: Proven Strategies for Lifelong Health. The second book has additional SuperFoods and explains their health benefits.

And thanks for posting that hilarious post!

I completely agree - this forum is awesome, and it's so wonderful to have a place to interact with people that are on the same journey A few years ago, my sole focus was wanting to wear a smaller dress size - I'm a little wiser now, and with some of the health problems in my family, as well as my son's diabetes, I've realized that HEALTH is really the most important thing. I feel like I've finally stopped trying to achieve the impossible by magically becoming that model in a magazine, and am instead so focused on just becoming the best "me" that I can be. I can't tell you how good that feels - it really is like a burden has been lifted.

It's amazing how infrequently I think about the scale these days! Like others, I'm having too much fun thinking up creative ways to cook SF meals, and new ways to incorporate SF's into favourite recipes to make them just that little bit healthier. It's wonderful to really enjoy food, without the guilt that often accompanies that enjoyment.

So, count me in as another Superfoods nut!!

Hey sugarlove, doesn't it feel like we've entered into some kind of healthy state of bliss? The fog has been cleared, the diet burden has been lifted. I feel like singing:

I can see clearly now the rain is gone!
I can see all obstacles in my way!
Gone is the dark cloud that had me blind.
It's gonna be a bright, bright SuperFood day!

But seriously, I wish every lost dieter would come on over and just give this a try. I just can't stop talking about SuperFoods to everyone I talk to!
