I am trying to incorporate more beans into my food plan. Granted, I have never been a fan of beans, but I thought I would give cannellini beans a try.
Does anyone have any good recipes for cannelli's that might make me actually enjoy beans. I know how good they are for you...it's time I get over it!
Cannellini beans are pretty versatile. You can use them in lots of different types of recipes. They’re great in minestrone-type veggie soups, in cold bean salads, pureed bean dip (like hummus, but you can make these with just about any bean not just chickpeas), casseroles, in “burger” patties. If you say you don’t like beans much I guess I might start with a dip, I don’t know anyone who has tried hummus and not liked it.
I don't love beans so I rarely eat them on their own but I do like to sneak them into other dishes quite alot. Cannellini beans are awesome in any Italian sort of dish. I always put them in chicken cacciatore and Tuscan chicken, too. They are also nice in a pasta salad.
I've had those in soup. Some other great ways to incorporate beans is to have black bean and corn salsa, hummus and to through some kidney beans on your salad or garbanzo beans. I get about 4-6 servings of beans a week. It's a protien packed, fiber-filled, low-fat wonder food!
