Riddle me this Batman?!?! Situation role play!

On another board which is very hard core (I won't mention the name) somone asked a question and got creamed with 'we don't go off program' blah, blah, blah......

The basic situation was she was on vacation, had already used points for the day, dinner came up and she choose to have something she would enjoy and not duplicate the meal she had the night before. She wanted to know how others handled this type of situation so I went a step further and posted this...

"You are on vacation and eating out 3 meals a day because of circumstances. You have eaten at Denny's for breakfast (you had Egg Beater Veggie Omelet and 1 slice of dry toast with coffee for approximately 6 points); for lunch you've gone to Chick-Fil-A (you had Chargrilled Chicken Garden Salad w/Fat Free Dijon Honey Mustard and Carrot & Raisin Salad for 9 points).

For dinner you've been out voted for KC house of BBQ (nothing but ribs [pork or beef]; bbq chicken; baked beans (traditionally made); french fries or onion rings. No salads except for coleslaw.

What do you do? You've done good all day with 15 points used and you are in the 20-25 point range or the 18-23 point range. You've done your planning but you've been out voted and you know that everything is going to send you over the point range?

I was wonder what you do when something like this happens."

What would you do?

Me - I'd order something and eat part of it but I'd enjoy if and if it took me over my points then so be it. No guilt but moving on. I'd try to watch what I ate the rest of the week before weigh in.

Oh yeah it was her last night of vacation and she wanted to splurge a little - not binge and she was right back OP the next day.

Kelly, I agree with you. Life is way too short to not have what she wanted especially since she had done so well the rest of the day. I believe that vacations are to be enjoyed because you are taking a vacation from your everyday life. Let the chips fall where they may!!!!!!!:dizzy:

Wholeheartedly agree!!!

I think one of the best things about the WW program is the fact that there is a lot of flexibility. Why not suggest she go for a walk after dinner or a swim or whatever to get rid of some of those points and ease up a little the next day? One of the other suggestions that I thought was great from this site(especially when on holiday) is to start counting points at dinner - that would be great for vacation.

Personally, I would have ordered something I would have enjoyed and not stressed too much about it.

Hi,

This type of situation is precisely why I started counting points with dinner. I kept getting outvoted and ending up over points!

However, in the situation you mentioned, you have a maximum of 8 or 10 points left, depending on which of the two point ranges you mentioned I was using. For about 4 or 5 points (depending on whether they use a fatty marinade on the meat or just regular, tomato-based BBQ sauce), I could have one piece of BBQ chicken without the skin. Then I could have 1/2 cup of baked beans for 5 points, according to the WW Food Companion. That puts me either at maximum points or 1-2 points over. That's not enough to consider the day a total disaster. I could live with that.

It's only one meal and only one meal did not put my excess pounds on me. I would order what I want, enjoy it and remember tomorrow is another day!
