Weight Loss and Feeling Cold

I've lost some weight, not nearly enough yet, but still I am noticably smaller to people who know me, etc. Those of you in this same boat, how is your body temperature now? I'm finding I'm cold ALL THE TIME! This is unusual for me, as I tend to be warm or even hot a lot of the time.

As a side note, while at Sam's Club yesterday I sat down and did my BP on the little machine they have, and my BP was 112/70. When I started this little adventure August 8, my BP was high enough (don't know the #) that the doctor told me if I didn't do something real soon she was going to start me on meds. Is the BP also effecting how warm or cold I am?

Kelly - I thought someone here would pipe up on this one but . . .

I have heard this before as an issue. I've never lost enough though to experience that. This time I hope to!! I can always pile on more clothes

Great news about BP too!!!! I don't know about the BP issue with hot and cold either - sorry

This what I have heard...

Ok... I will pass along what I have gathered from reading, talking to my doctor, etc,

Your blood pressure will effect your body temp... if your blood pressure is high then you will tend to be hot most of the time, etc. Since you have lost weight and your blood pressure is down that is most likely why you are cold.

I have also read... that when you are cold all the time you should try to do some strength training as it may be a sign that you are loosing muscle along with the fat... I have stepped up my work outs and it has helped me since I am cold all the time! My husband calls me a freeze cat because I have sweaters on all the time and carry a jacket or sweater with me almost every where I go.

Hope this helps but it never hurts to talk to your doctor also if you are concerned.

We're losing our fat that keeps us warm :D and we're feeling the coldness alot easier.

Just wrap up warmly throughout the day.

I think this is the case, too. When I was obese, I was ALWAYS hot - even in deepest winter. Went everywhere without a coat or just a light jacket.
I think when we're that fat, we forget how to dress in layers (ok, it's true - I FORGOT how  ).
Now that I'm at goal, I had to relearn that. And DH has learned to always bring along a blanket or throw in the car for me. :D

bottom line - I get to buy more clothes. what's not to like about retail therapy? :D :carrot:

Thanks for all the help, ladies! I thought I was losing my mind! LOL...I do have a dr. appointment coming up in a few more weeks so I'll be sure to talk to her about it as well. Until then, I'll dress warmer and see about adding some strength training to my workouts. Just curious here, do you all do strength and cardio every day, or do you alternate?
