  • WEEK # 7 JULY 30TH - AUGUST 5TH

HEY THERE CHALLENGETTES! Last week seemed a bit tough for me- but what kept me going was knowing you gals have been really workin' it. I just love that.

If anybody's up for it...I'm throwing out my Fat Brat Dinner/Snacking challenge for this week.

What's a great motivator for you - especially with guests / weekend distractions around - that will keep you on program?

I need a new one, since I already got the outfit and my motivation is waffling.

    Monday - 23 (bnk 2 / Act 5)
    Tuesday - 25
    Wed - 20 (bnk 5 / Act - 1/2)
    Thur - 24.5 (bnk .5 / Act - 2 pts)
    Friday - 25 (used 10 bnkd/Act pts)
    Sat - 25 (used 4 act pts)
Sunday - 32.5 (used up all avail 6 pts bnked and activity)

Weigh in Mon 8/6 - 135.4 (stayed the same)

8/6 - as you can see all that indulging this and last weekend have stalled the losing process...and using banked and activity points ain't doin' the trick.

Well... Here's to this next week. While I'd love to find my black jeans and see if they fit again, they're lost...it seems like the gremlins got 'em. If I can't locate them by end of next week, maybe I'll splurge and get a new pair.
  • Where is everyone for this weeks Challenge?? Miss you guys. Patch
  • Hi Patch!

Your question for this week is a good one. What I've done in the past to remain focused when guests/distractions are around is to carry around my WW keychain in my pocket...I'm forever putting my hand in my pocket and when I feel it it's a reminder of the hard work I've put in to get to my goal. I've also used mental rehearsing when it comes to staying away from the "goodies"...or else I talk myself out of spending the points with "Do I really want this?" It's helped me in the past.

I start my week on Thursdays since my WI is on Wednesdays. I wasn't sure how to report my daily points. This past week I had a .6 loss so I'm back on the "losing" mode.

    Thurs - 20.5
    Fri - 21
    Sat - 25
    Sun - 23
    Mon -
    Tues -

  • Patch,

I'm still here, lurking a lot but still here! I hope to make it in to the WW center tomorrow AM for a weigh~in and get myself back on track again. I don't seem to be doing so badly weight wise but, my journeling is awful! Why can't I just bite and write it???? I guess it's just getting into the habit once again and then like anything else in life it will become second nature! I hope!

Otherwise, I'm just trying to survive the heatwave that we're experiencing here in Michigan. Lots of hot and HUMID weather! The boys and I have been doing early AM walks before it becomes too unbearable! I'm not going to let this weather become an excuse to let my exercise program diminish too!

    Best wishes to all,

    Nancy D.
  • Woo hoo!
Have to share that I bought a skirt today that is a size 10 - I haven't fit a size 10 in at least 10 years!

I won't be able to weight in this Saturday but I know that I have lost that last .8. I was down 3 lbs on my scale at home this morning. I have been holding steady for a few weeks now. Relief.

Numbers according to last Sat. weigh in:

    Start - 173.2
    Current - 140.8
    Goal - 140

Points are shaping up to be a good week:

    Monday: 22.5
    Tuesday: 20.5
    Wednesday: 21.5
    Thursday: 10 so far

Off on holidays tomorrow! I am attending my high school reunion on Saturday - I think I'll wear the new skirt..........yah!
  • Thanks guys... Melissa - I'm so glad you brought up the key chain, I had forgotten about that and just took mine out from the bottom of my pencil holder, and hung it up where I'll see it. And re: reporting your points any which way that works for you, some do it by calendar week and some by weighin week.

And Nancy, there was a good yearlong period where for the life of me, I just couldn't write it down. Somewhere during the challenge it's become such a habit that I feel somethings missing if I don't do it - go figure.

Kena - this is great news! It looks like you're at GOAL - Way to Go!!! Have a great time at the reunion and strut your stuff in that new skirt.
  • A great motivator for me is to go clothes shopping. Even if I don't buy anything, it is so great to be able to feel good knowing that I can try things on & they fit and I'm not looking for clothes to cover up my body - it's also nice to be able to buy what's in style and know that you feel great wearing it.

Going to meetings regularly & weighing in works for me, too. The first time I lost weight on WW, I made the mistake of not coming back as a lifetime member to weigh in & I gained all the weight back & then some. I need the accountability and the idea that I need to go & have someone record my weight. It's too easy for me to weigh at home & stay on top of it - no one sees the number on the scale at home except me - too easy for that number to slowly creep up.
  • I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good day everyone!!! Since I'm going on vacation tomorrow I thought I would attempt a weigh in last night (I usually go on Saturday mornings). Well, after hanging on to that one last pound for a month now it's finally gone!!!

I have reached my goal!!!!!!!!!! So excited that it's hard to work!

    Start: 173.2
    Goal: 140.0
    Current: 138.2

  • Hi everyone,

I have a few motivators. I bought a dress last month that I would love to wear at a business meeting that I am leaving for on the 11th of August which is next week! I am still probably 5 pounds away from that but the way I have been working out I might be smaller even if the scale doesn't show it.

I am also going to visit my family on September 8th. When I got married 7 months ago I weighed 10 pounds less and that is the last time I saw them. I would like to get back there- we'll see.

My final motivator is a very serious one. My brother who is 50 has type 2 diabetes which is caused by diet and obesity mostly. He has a hard time controlling his diabetes and is now very sick as a result. He had his foot amputated yesterday and is going to have more taken off next week. It is very upsetting and also very motivating for me to be healthier.

I like what Katie said about going to meetings too. I stopped going and that’s when my troubles started. I need to make a promise to myself that I keep going even after I get to goal.

Kena Congrats on reaching your goal!

Patch Thanks for posting the question, it is a good one!

    Have a great Friday!

  • KENA - now it's official!!! Congratulations!!!

Carla thanks for posting your motivations. Both the fun inspiring ones and your very serious one about diabetes. On the fun one... I too am visiting the in-laws in Mid August and that's what started me doing the Challenge. I wanted to be back to my wedding day weight (131) when I see them (been married 2 1/2 yrs). While I'd love to get there, anything under 134 would really be ok (I'm 135.4 now). If I set my losing bar too "high" I just might trip myself up and, I've worked way too hard (as you and the rest of the gang has) to do that.

Regarding your brother and Diabetes...It's something that's not mentioned that often on the threads and yet it's a very serious danger to many overweight people. It runs in my family as well. My mother has had it for the past 10 years, and because she didn't watch it, has had to go from taking pills to "shooting up" insulin twice a day. My brother has it as well and while not nearly as critical a situation as your brother, he's heavy into the insulin pills. Unfortunately, he just doesn't "get it". He still eats badly. Thanks Carla for mentioning this. - Patch -

WW weigh-in: .5 pounds over goal. May have gained 2.5 pounds this week.Oopsie.
  • Hi everyone

I went for my weigh in at noon today and posted a 2.2# loss...woohoo! It really makes a difference for me in keeping my journal and this just backs it up even more. I'm on a roll and am aiming to have another week of writing everything in my journal--the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly if that should happen. My goal for the upcoming week is to continue doing what I did this past week.
  • congrats, Melissa, that is great!!!

  • Way to go Melissa! 2.2 is awesome!!!

It's a tough week for me, both workwise (I'm in Sales and not much is "happening") and at home. Hubby is working very late hours and I've had to really work it - to eat within the range and not over. I've stocked up on rice cakes, 94% fat free popcorn, 1 point fudgecicles, and smart ones, and just wanted to put it out there I don't want the fat brat to win. I really want to have a complete in range week. Especially with my mother-in-law coming this Sunday - don't get me wrong... I actually do like her. But last time she saw me I was 132lbs. I'm not too far off that, but don't want to go haywire just because of stress. patch
