Disaster Vacation

  • THIS REALLY STINKS!!!!

i AM SO UPSET. I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I took my WW books and everyting. I stocked up the house with WW stuff. I messed up 2 times on program and I come back with a 2 pound gain. I am on maintenance plus I work for WW and I go for leader training in 2 weeks so they need to see that I am within in my goal. I AM SO UPSET!! Maintenance is not fun. I felt better when I was on program knowing that if I messed up I could fix the problem next week. I am sorry for talking (and shouting ) but I need some direction. Should I eat in the low point range or should I starve myself? Can you help this frustrated soul

  • take a deep breath....
and don't starve yourself. just follow your points program low to middle? and get your activity done eat your veggies and drink your water. Vacation pounds don't stick around to long. You'll be fine and you'll be able to enjoy going for Leader Training.

  • OMG!!

I think you did a GREAT job! You ought to be proud of yourself for staying OP as well as you did. Seriously! You KNOW most people drop the whole idea of being OP while on vacation. Kinda taking a vacation from being OP!!

Like the previous poster said, vacation weight won't stay around long as long as you hop right back OP, drink your water, and be active.
    Good luck!

    Dear Fran:

Now, if you're going for Leader Training, you should know the answer to your question. What does starving yourself do? Does it set you up for disaster? does it cause a binge? does is NOT FUEL you enough so that your metabolism slows down and you DON'T lose weight? Exactly. Now, STOP PANICKING. I can't imagine that these 2 pounds (as painful as they are) are enough to kick you above your goal so much that you are out of range.

Eat mid range for a few days, and as other respondents have said, do your exercise and drink your water and eat your vegetables. Just a few days of the simple act of re-focusing will do you a world of good.

I'm a leader in Manhattan. Where is your training going to be? In Paramus? Good Luck. You'll do fine. But, GET A GRIP! And, say hello to Sharon and Stephanie... They are the best Leader trainers there are...

    Regards.
  • Dear Fran,
First of all Congrats on reaching goal! Sorry you are so upset about maintenance...but maintenance and vacation are two different things! Maintennce is a "whole other ball-game".....dont panic..you will be fine........if you are following maintenance correctly it is expected that you may gain IF you added points as you were supposed to.

Read the maintenance material and evaluate EXACTLY what you did during those two weeks vacation......remember to be honest..... the purpose of maintenance is to find out how many points you can eat without gaining !

At the end of the maintenance as long as you are within 2 pounds of your goal..you will get your Lifetime membership. When you go to Basic Leader Training..there will be several who are still learning maintenance JUST LIKE YOU! Be kind to yourself.I bet you will make a fine Leader!

    Best Wishes!

  • Relax a little. 2 pounds is not a disaster ... especially since it could just be water retention or hormonal fluctuations. Remember, flying can cause you to retain water, and so can restaurant meals that are higher in sodium than you're used to. I would second most of the advice that you've received so far ... eat mid range, drink, and exercise. The evil 2 will be gone before you know it.
